'Even More Toys...?' Journal Entry
What is it about babies getting toys?
I met another wand guardian today. Rune, I think her name was. She's a very interesting woman: for one thing, she can travel between worlds. So can her friends. None of them have been to Death, however, so I won't call them true explorers.
Anyways, Rune's little kid Valentine (she's adorable! and so sweet) taught Aricia some words, like shyee. Shiny. Which she got plenty of.; Valen gave them to her.
Seriously, babies are a magnet for toys. They turn up even when I'm not buying them for her!
Well, time to find a shelf to put her 'shinies'. They are quite pretty.

'Immune to Puppy Faces?!' RP via AIM with Ryvan and Nephrenia (Pretty Lil Hate Machine)
As usual, Aricia was hyper. Which, naturally, was not a good thing for Kierla. Which, equally naturally, was why it was probably not a good idea to take her for a walk. Aricia didn't work like dogs, where a walk calms them and tires them out; instead, she merely becomes a ball of energy that keeps building and building...until the spring is sprung. And sprung the spring did, when the mother and daughter approached a very garishly colored shop window. It was filled with eye-popping clowns, the kind that gave nightmares, as well as neon-colored mini carousels. The toy shop. Exactly the place one did not want to take a hyper baby to.
Nephrenia was standign contemplating one of the stores more 'subtle' selections, why she had ever let Tybalt reccomend the store to her was beyond her comprehension, but she had, and she couldn't go back home without at least one item from the shop or the artistic boy would be upset, not that he would show it. And so she stood starring at a small cloth gyspsy doll, all bright colors and pale skin. A beautiful doll to be sure, and one that didn't quite seem to fit in witht he rest of the loud and garish toys this shop carried. She made her way to the checkout and after paying for the doll to the door, the little wandlet chasing along behind her. Of course in her hurry to escape she didn't consider that there may be other customers that would wish the use of the store. Which led her to run straight into a woman who just happened to have another wand, sending them both spilling to the ground.
Granted, Kierla caught herself quickly, barely touching the floor. Unfortunately, the impact made Aricia slip out of her arms - yet again! - causing the squealing baby to flail her arms as she went flying through the air. Hopefully the wildly waving wand wouldn't hit anything (or anyone.) Kierla was left behind to deal with the woman. "I'm very sorry," she said coldly, with a tone that implied that either she didn't care or she wasn't very sorry at all. Then she noticed the ghost...
Neph rolled her eyes at the womans tone, it had been an accident. "Don't be, is your child going to be okay?" She was genuinly worried for the child, generally children weren't able to slip out of their mothers arms so easily, she didn't want the child hurt. Ryvan approched the child warily, reaching out and poking Aricia in the nose with her wand, the fire not hurting, but tingling and feeling warm.
Aricia seemed glad enough; she was laughing gleefully as she skidded across the floor. Suddenly, she screamed and burst into an outfit of giggling, feeling a ticklish sensation on her nose. She swung her wand at the feeling, trying to bat it away. Kierla reached over and snapped her back up in her safe embrace, offering a quiet smile at Ryvan. The gesture was awkward, and the smile seemed cracked, as if it was a tool not used very often - which was probably the truth, considering how fast it disappeared. "Yes. Don't worry," she said to Ryvan in a slightly less frosted voice - although the margin was hard to tell, considering the generally flat tone of her voice. But she had to make an effort; this person was obviously a guardian, and they might have to meet again. "My name is Kierla, and this is Aricia," she added after a small silence.
Neph shook her head slightly and reached out to tickle the babys stomache. "Well Aricia is very cute, my name is Nephrenia and this little wandlet" she gestured towards Ryvan " Is Ryvan." Ryvan at the introduction spun around gleefully, before approaching the child again with the wand tip glittering prettily. She did so love meeting others.
Kierla gladly jumped at the chance to let Aricia play with the ghost; perhaps it would distract her from trying to buy one of the toys all around. She set Aricia back down, pushing her slightly toward Ryvan. "I see...you have a wand ghost too," she said quietly to Nephrenia. Interesting how many wand guardians she met when just out walking. It was like they were stalking her.
Meanwhile, Aricia was having a grand time with her new playmate. Babbling at the blob of mist, she waved her wand at it again.
Neph nodded " I do indeed have a child from the wands. How did you come into custody of your little girl?" Neph didn't particularly enjoy the womans attitude, she didn't hate her, no neph rarley hated anyone, but she would most likley never consider the woman as someone to enjoy company with. She was far to cold for Neph's likings. Ryvan flopped upon, and through, the little girl the wand not quite making it through but instead hitting the girl on the nose again. ryvan was puzzled, the boy had let it pass through him, why not this girl? Didn't she like her wand?
Kierla fought hard not to give the woman a condenscing look. Wasn't it almost painfully obvious? "She is from a wand as well. A pegasus wand. Ianna gave it to me." There was another short silence, before Kierla tried for conversation again: "What kind of...soul is Ryvan?"
At the blow, Aricia yowled, swinging her wand at the offender. Why did this misty-thing keep hitting her?
The next second, however, it seemed as if the girl had forgotten the pain on her nose and was making grabby hands at the fire wand. IT WAS SHINY!
Nephrenia sighed "obviously she is from a wand, I was inquiring as to how you came across the shop." She resisted the urge to simply walk away, or set tybalt upon the woman, because there was no point in alienating the child from Ryvan simply because their mothers did not get along. "Ryvan's soul is a gyspy." Ryvan pulled the wand away even more confused, was the girl trying to stel the wand? Or did she actually likr it? Maybe the girl didn't like girls, like Dare didn't liek girls.
"You could have been a little more specific," Kierla couldn't help but say. She really had to burn her mouth off, one day. It said far too many obnoxious things. "I was taking my niece for a walk around town, and I happened upon the shop. It looked interesting enough, so I went in."
"A gypsy, you say?" Now, that was interesting. She turned to look at the ghost with interest.
Aricia put on her best puppy face, giving the wand a tug again. Why wouldn't she give over the wand? Like Valentine. She was nice. The wand was shiny too. And shiny things were very very good. "SHY! EE!" she screeched at Ryvan.
Nephrenia just nodded content to watch her child play. Though if the child managed to hurt her wandlet she was prepared to swoop in and take charge of the situation. Ryvan was worried now, the girl WAS trying to steal her wand. No! NO! NO! Ryvan took the wand in both hands and bopped Aricia over the head. It was her wand not anyone elses. HERS!
Aricia was now officially angry. Why was she immune to The Puppy Face? Or maybe it only worked on the tall boring people like Kierla. "SHYEEEEEEESHY!" she screamed at Ryvan, her face turning very red, trying to give the wand another tug. Unfortunately, the gesture combined with Ryvan's double-hand grip only made it slip out of her hands. Screwing up her best crying-face, Aricia bawled as she held both hands to her head, greatly exaggerating the truly miniscule pain.
Oh dear. "I am sorry," Kierla said stupidly to her companion, reaching forward to scoop Aricia back into her arms. "She thinks Ryvan's wand is shiny and she wants to play with it," she translated, although no doubt Nephrania would have probably figured that out on her own.
"SHYEE!" Aricia screamed again between her fake sobs, as if to reinforce her mother's statement.
Ryvan simply moved to hide behind her mother. She did NOT like this pne, she was mean and tried to steal Ryvans wand. It was not fair the boy was nice but this one was not! Neph sighed "Ryvan is attached to her wand still, Prehaps I should get going, I still haev more shopping to do and she seems to be upsetting your daughter."
Oh, good, they were leaving, Kierla noted with slight satisfaction. Not because they were mean (although the mom certainly was, in her opinion), but because that shiny wand was making Aricia very disruptive. "I am sorry," she said again. "Have fun shopping."
As the two left, Aricia stuck out her tongue at Ryvan in a way that Kierla wouldn't see her.

'No More Toys' Journal Entry
Aricia is really an obnoxious baby.
Seriously.
She looks really cute and all, but apparently that old maxim of how looks can be decieving is truer than words.
Today, we stopped at a toy shop. Yes, I know. I swear it wasn't me! Aricia wanted to go in. However, the second we stepped through, we (quite literally) bumped into another wand guardian and her baby gypsy ghost.
The mom, Nephrania, I don't really like. Maybe because I get the feeling that she doesn't like me.
And of course, like mother like daughter. Aricia and Ryvan (the ghost) got into a fight. With her new obsession to shinies, taught to her by Valentine, Aricia wanted to play with Ryvan's wand. And, of course, Ryvan didn't like that. Aricia got hit in the head, my poor baby.
Of course, afterwards she screamed the place down. I don't think it would have hurt that much.
I'm going to catch some rest. The only good thing about that trip out was that we didn't get any toys.

'FIRST SENTENCE!' Journal Entry
Today Aricia said her first sentence!
Maybe I should backtrack a little.
Somehow, the little tyke got into the kitchen pantry and started playing with the jam jars. Needless to say, it was not pretty.
So, I went to the HQ to rest. Unfortunatley, I didnt' really get much - another wand guardian arrived. It think he said he had a gelfing wand. Something like that. I hope I spelled it right.
Raja had a little boy with him too. Jeanus. Adorable kid, although pretty loud. Which is saying something, coming from the mother of the loudest screaming tyrant in the world.
Aricia wanted to play with the gelfing wand (it's quite pretty!) and that's when she said her first sentence: "I won't hurt it!"
Now, seriously.
ISN'T THAT SO COMPLETELY ADORABLE?

'Grounded' Journal Entry
Aricia got grounded today.
We were in the library - I was looking up some info on Aricia's friends, like I said I would someday. Unfortunately, another guardian wandered in. He's the father of a Siren wisp, currently. Apparently he was looking for things about Sirens.
Aricia got angry they weren't paying attention, so started flapping her wings. Needless to say, the poor wisp didn't hold out very well.
I feel really bad for Raidne. I hope Cal isn't still mad at me. It's a little weird, you know, to have someone mad at me and have me actually agree that he should be mad at me.
Anyways, so I grounded Aricia. She can't use her wings for a week.
Yesterday...her first sentence. Today...first time being grounded.
I wonder if it's a sign.

'FIRST STEPS!' Journal Entry
DEAR GODS, ARICIA IS WALKING!
Well, sort of.
Today we ran into another wand kid and his mother, in a clothing shop. Aricia forced me in there. If she wants something, she gets something, I'll tell you that.
Xtol and Airaka were very nice. Weird, I suppose, but nice. Xtol's the dragon - wyvern? - wand kid.
When we were walking home, Xtol helped Aricia with her first steps. Isn't that amazing?
So much can happen in such a short time.
Being a mother is...
...definitely not boring, I can tell you that.

'First Halloween' Journal Entry
I repeat.
Being a mother is -
NOT. BORING.
NOT IN THE LEAST.
Which is not always a good thing.
In this case, it was just annoying. Although I must take a moment and try to be fair, because it isn't really directly Aricia's fault. In fact, it's really the fact that I'm a sister that I was forced to wear this dratted giant moth costume, flouncing around the Halloween party with a equally as ridiculously dressed baby in my arms like some fairy godmother in a tutu.
The worst part of it was, the stupid costume was - what else? - white. I swear Kiarna does this on purpose, yes she does. We know each other too well.
I actually wouldn't mind the white if it had been something like Aricia's costume. She's a dead bride, for god's sake. Why could we have switched roles? The Corpse Bride wouldn't be the perfect costume for me, to say the least, but it's better than being a moth.
Eww.
But whatever. It was Aricia's first Halloween - I should be glad for her. She, at least, seemed to have some fun. We didn't get to do much - maybe because we were both tripping too much over the bounds of cloth my fool of a sister used to make our costumes - but she did get her face painted like Sally by some weird Cupid-bird-freak, and she decorated a cookie.
Ah, well. At least nothing terribly exciting happened. Like...an explosion or something.
Oh, Charter help me. I'm not taking her to a New Year's party.

'Laughing' Growth Post
"Quynh. Quynh!"
Ooh, don't make me shout, Kierla thought irritably, pulling back a loose strand of hair behind one ear and fighting to keep composure. Being a mother was being a lot of things, one of which was not emotionless. Oh, how she wished she could go back to her old, simple, carefree life.
Well, motherhood did have certain charms. Like bossing the children around. "QUYNH!"
The girl appeared in the doorway, looking very innocent and saying nothing.
"Have you seen Aricia?" Kierla closed her eyes briefly. While the baby certainly could not walk without an inordinate amount of help, she was getting better at crawling for certain. Which led to an extreme increase of times when she was nowhere to be found.
Quynh slowly shook her head. No.
"Oh, for heaven's sake!" Kierla burst out, unable to control herself. Last time it had taken a whole two hours to find the silly little creature jammed in the kitchen trash can, playing in rotten banana peels and slime, laughing her head off. The worried mother stomped - glided - from room to room. "Aricia! Come ooouuuut...."
She herself had never been a fan of the childhood game of hide and seek. It had all seemed rather pointless to her. Then again, so did all games.
But hide and seek had always seemed particularily pointless. Especially now.
"ARICIA!"
Kierla had lost her patience a long time ago, but only now was she beginning to show it.
Meaning, she was really pissed.
"You'd better not be in the trash can again, or I'll..."
The onslaught of angry words petered out to an embarrassing squeak as she entered the kitchen and surveyed the scene before her. As quicklyk could be discerned from a moment's glance, the trash can had been upset, but Aricia was not in it. Or at least, not currently. A line of dirty footsteps led the way to an open door. Kierla didn't even wonder why there were no handprints accompanying the footprints; she followed them, breaking into a run as she heard a steady clanging noise in the not quite so far distance...
The iron garden gate was open.
Kierla screamed.
Then, her keen ear caught a sound of hope in its delicate shell: the faint peal of the pegasus' laugh.
It flew in dizzying circles around her, carried on the back of the playful wind.
Almost as if in a trance - but can one run in a trance? - Kierla rushed trhough the open gate and down the pathway, toward the nearby graveyard.
The laughter grew louder, warming the chilly autumn air.
And then, as Kierla rounded a row of tombstones, she caught a glimpse of pink - the bright color so out of place in this dreary ground of death.
"Aricia!" she called, dashing forward and grabbing the baby girl in a tight hug. No, baby was not the correct term anymore, she suddenly realized, holding the child out from her to get a better look. She had grown, gained some weight, reached a new level of intelligence in those laughing eyes. Laughing, laughing, laughing.
"Mommy! Mommy!"
She was laughing, her eyes snapping, her wings flapping. She didn't seem even remotely aware of the consternation she had caused. Mud and muck dripped from the girl's bare feet - so alone without her hands to join them on the ground. She was standing on her own. "Mommy! Guess what?" Her hair fell to her shoulders now, bouncing as her entire frame wiggled with mirth.
"What, Aricia?" Kierla choked out, eyes unexpectedly suddenly brimming with tears.
"Look, Mommy! It's me!" And Aricia pointed, still laughing, at the headstone beside her. She said it with such pride! Oh, such pride!
So much pride, it broke Kierla's heart. The two pieces sank to her very stomach as she read the inscription upon the stone:
ARICIA L.
BELOVED WIFE, MOTHER, DAUGHTER
There was more under that, but she could read no further. Kierla bowed as if before a God, falling to her knees, her bitter tears mixing with the slushed mud of the grave, listening to the blessed ringing of her daughter's laughter.
Laugh she did, although she must have already been laughing for over an hour by now. Laughing, laughing, laughing.
She pranced in circles around her defeated mother, laughing, laughing.
"Mommy! Mommy! Watch me dance!"
But all Kierla could hear was the laughter.
