Merucy's line of thought was similar to Amaidi's. "Yes, well with all the practice you get in saving me, I'm starting to feel like a damsel in distress." He snorted at the mental picture that presented.
"So, shall we stay here until the ocean shoos us away or did you have a particular place you wanted to visit?"

Amaidi chuckled at the picture and shook her head. "well you make for a very handsome damsel." she laughed and leaned forward to nuzzle her cheek. A sort of possessive happy side came over her and she leaned back a bit to lick the same cheek. Mercury was hers for real now and she didnt have to worry if another vixen would come along and steal him away. "Lets go back to the forest where we first met. It would be a nice change away from jelly fish and quick sand dont you think?

"Thank goodness butterflies prefer sweet to salt. Maybe they'll mob you for a change." There always seemed to be at least a butterfly or two in that part of the forest, probably because flowers loved it here.
He felt a swell of pride and affection as he turned Amaidi's gesture with a nuzzle of his own, and hoped from his slightly lower rock ledge onto the one level with hers.
"I think I might even know the way." With only the slightest bit of hesitation, Mercury set off in the lead.

"oh butterflies seem to hate me dont you remember." amaidi chuckled. "and I am covered in salt water as well." she laughed and hesitantly stepped behind Mercury to lead the way. hopefully they wouldnt get to lost that Amaidi couldnt steer them back on the path.

((Mini time skip!))
Turns out Mercury did get them there......after getting them lost. He could hear Amaidi sighing and giggling in turn behind him, and he knew from the heat in his ears that he was blushing. Really, all these trees looked alike! He thought it was quite an acomplishment that he only got lost the once, and still managed to arrive at their destination.
The day was only half through, the sun overhead shining through the trees and lighting the wooded area up like being inside of an emerald. And, of course, a handful of butterflies flitted about the area, moving from lacy white flowers to bold yellow ones.

Amaidi looked around and smiled now that they where finally here. she had meant to come back here to this meadow but never really got around to it. Sure enough butterflies seemed to be in full bloom although they hadn't seemed to notice her or Mercury yet. "Its too bad isnt as colorful as last time but then again its not spring or summer." amaidi commented.

Mercury leaned over to nuzzle his mate. "We'll be back by spring. We can watch all the flowers bloom again, and there'll be so many butterflies that they'll mob even you."
He grinned teasingly, lightly butting his head against Amaidi's side.

Amaidi smiled and leaned into Mercury nuzzling his cheek back. "ah yes but I can disappear into my moor when they all make the motion to swarm you. You're sacrifice shall not be in vain" she chuckled.

Mercury snorted. "Remind me to roll in some stinkweed before coming back, then."
He began to stroll leisurely around the small clearing, taking in all the sights and smells.

"mmm I might conveniently forget that. You'll drive away the butterflies alright but then you'll probably also drive away me" Amaidi laughed. She watched as Mercury walked around the meadow taking in the different sights and saw her chance seconds later she was pouncing Mercury and rolling around in the flowers.

Later Mercury would argue that the noise he made was a manly yelp. He did not squeek. Nope, not at all! He had long since discovered that Amaidi had an edge on him in power, but he had superior size and weight. He threw his balance to one side, rolling all around the meadow with his very enthusiastic mate hanging on. Doubtless they were being called very nasty names by the butterflies.

"You totally squeaked." Amaidi chuckled shaking her head when they finally stopped rolling. She noticed that in their rolling the butterflies had pretty much scattered up to the sky along with many different colored petals. Suddenly Amaidi rolled them to the sky when a nut was thrown where they where just laying. A rather indignant barking sound started coming up from the tree. Amaidi laughed a bit guessing they had scared a squirrel in their rolling.

Amaidi shook her head and gave a pitiful sad look up towards the squirrels. "yeah apparently. You should also add in sea gulls to that list. It seems the only thing I get along with is sea life. " amaidi shook her head. well sea life and mercury. "You think I'll get along with your mother?" she asked suddenly worried.

Mercury tilted his head, a habit common to when he was considering something. "Momma takes things to extremes, she either likes you or hates your guts." He chuckled. "She's got something of a complex. She's really pretty, it's just she doesn't have any patterns or anything. She seems to think 'cause of that she's not beautiful. I tried hard to convince her otherwise, but," Mercury shrugged. "She still worries over it every now and then.
I'd say right now your chances are good. As long as Momma sees that I'm happy then she'll be happy for us. I couldn't tell ya what she'd think of you personally, but I'd guess it's high odds she'll like you for you." He smiled, sensing his mate's worry and leaning over to nuzzle her. "So don't worry too much."
