Once we were supposed to play Rimsky's Russian Easter Overture for a concert. When the tuba player came in to play his part, his tuba sounded really weak, so it made a funny noise and it took him a whole measure to get a nice sound out of his tuba. It was so embarrassing because our conductor bragged about how well we played this piece, which was supposed to be too difficult for us. (Sorry if my describing is bad, I'm a string player so I know nothing about tubas)

During concert season at our first festival, I had the worst coughing fit. I had been home sick that day because of severe asthma/allergies (it was to the point where I could not breathe outside).
So, my flute/picc playing was pretty off, due to my limited breath support. To make it worse, at the end of one of our pieces (where it was just me and the principal flute), my picc decided it would be a jerk and water got in the keys. Instead of F's, I was playing E's. Agghhh. We still got superiors, luckily, and one of the adjudicators commented that he enjoyed the flute and picc playing. :]

I forgot to take my cleaning rod out of my flute during an opening duet, it was more embarrassing than anything seeming as we had to restart, but all was well after that. D;

My shoe came untied during festival. During a dance, I stepped on it and nearly tripped. You could see it on the festival video...
Also, I heard a few years ago, our band did Rhapsody in Blue and had one of the drum majors play the keyboard on the field. Well, they forgot the power cord for festival.

Worst thing to happen during MARCHING BAND! We were doing finals for and everything was going like normal until A color gaurd girl missed her mark and landed he flag right under our Tuba player's feet. She took the Tuba player out when she yanked in the other direction. But our tuba player leapt back to her feet and got back in line and was perfectly in time.

This past season, our music had an acceleration towards our major climax. And, my section, the bass drums, had the melody.
It was our first field competition of the season. At this part, we completely -- and I mean COMPLETELY -- screwed up the acceleration. And it wasn't just us. The ENTIRE BAND (except for the flutes) screwed up. Everyone was off time, people stopped playing, and I'm sure the entire crowd winced at this obvious mistake.
It was...gah. We watched the recording. Nobody could look; it was so painful. Dx

I was in pit orchestra for a musical (Godspell- us winds wrote our own parts), and while we were setting up chairs, one of our sax players knocked a chair into my best reed, snapping it in half. As some of you may know, bassoon reeds aren't always in stock (or at least the ones one would want), so when I made the mad dash to my closest music store that actually carried the reeds, I was forced to purchase reeds that I wasn't entirely comfortable with, but at leas I had them, and the tone would be better than my plastic back-up reeds.
All of that being said, after having gotten back in time, the show begins. This was a volunteer sort of event, so anyone who wanted to walk on could. Unfortunately, the instrumentation was too treble-heavy. (A bassoon, a trombone, L.H. piano, and a bass trombone who sightread his parts because the bassist got sick versus an electric guitar, four clarinets, three saxaphones, R.H. pian, oand two trumpets). Because of this, I ended up playing on a reed that was too hard for my low range, pushing insane amounts of air through an extremely tight space (one has to pinch a new reed together more than normal at times to keep it in tune.), without many chances to breathe.
At the end of the show, I lose feeling in my extremities. As I tried to get back to the bandroom, I fall over and start violently convulsing (thank goodness my bassoon was not in my hands at the time). An ambulence was called, and for a week after the inccident, I could not walk without becoming extremely tired.

Well, luckily this didn't happen during a competition. But our instruments were freezing up. Our saxophone who had a solo at the very beginning, she could not play any note right. My slide froze up (I also slid on some mud). I was blowing warm air through my trombone, making it look like i was playing. The valve instrument's valves froze close. It was a horrible show, but like i said, it wasn't in a competition.

My freshman year our show was "Carmen" and it was close to the end of marching band season.. So at one far away game we were doing part 3 and part 4.. At the beginning of part 3 we were in pods, and at the time I was the only clarinet chick in that pod (I play trombone now so mew mew biggrin ) and we were suppose to be at the left of the fifty (Home side view) yet I said, "Hey you're going the wrong way!!!"..
They didn't listen to me and when we started the show we ran all the way from the right side of the field to the left side.... While I was running I'm like, "Wow..... -_- I told you so" then I crashed into a tuba player........... And my trombonist band father.... XD

We were doing a small band concert and there weren't very many adults there, just school students. Well, some guy walked in late so we were in the middle of a song. I have really bad allergies to pollen, mold, and smoke. And this guy reeked of cigarette smoke. I tried so hard not to sneeze, I even held my breath and acted like I was playing my flute, but it didn't work. I had a sneezing fit in the middle of the song, and, while still conduting, my BD leaned over and said, "Bless you." Plus, we were playing Baby Elephant Walk and if you ever see that song on flute, it's not one you can just jump back into, you have to wait til it slows down. So, I just sat there like an idiot for the rest of the song cuz I had no clue where we were. Yeah, I could feel my face turn beet red then.

I was in a horn quartet where we each had our own solo and the guy under me came in on the wrong partial. It took him a couple phrases to recover :/

My first piano recital. For some reason my leg tensed up really bad when I was playing (at least it wasn't my hands) and I got through my piece, like..the performance was great! But afterwards, my leg was still really tense and I got up to bow and fell down the steps in stead sweatdrop
