Dead-end after dead-end.. Honestly, Romane was growing more depressed and stressed as the days wore on with the current list of cases. Not that she had been concerned at all at first when that rich woman had called in, since the wealthy that she knew called in for nonsense all the time with the sound of utmost importance, but.. as the amount of time since increased and no sign of the woman could be found, she had started to take it more seriously. Which, for Romane, meant work almost nonstop. Though she refused to take a day off as her superior had requested, she still was somewhat forced out on a break by her friend's request.

Her 'walk', which was more of a patrol of the area to her, was doing little to ease her mind, however, even with Korth and Mauser walking beside her. She had been somewhat hopeful they would run off or misbehave to distract her, but they had been well trained. Not even an unleashed Korth had made a move to run away.. Even when he so obviously was tempted to. She frowned at the dog, but couldn't scold him for good behavior, so instead turned her eyes back onto the streets. Children were playing, a few wives were heading down the street from grocery shopping, it seemed, and a cluster more were moving through their everyday routine casually – the regular.. Ah? She perked as she noticed what seemed to be a new civilian reading a.. map? He was new was all that registered and, in a few short moments that had the rottweilers struggling to keep up with their redheaded master, Romane was standing beside the newcomer with her usual dominating air as she scrutinized the taller. Male, blond, possibly eighteen to twenty years of age, nothing extraordinary to him – which was abnormal in this area, oddly enough.

Any other time, she would have given him a few questions and then went back to her patrol, but today she was stuck on the fact that a stranger had 'suddenly' appeared. Coincidence? Perhaps. Could she afford to let it go? No. So, she set one hand to her side, the other hand going to the hilt of her gun, signaling the dogs flanking her to give the man their attention.. Though, both seemed more keen to watch the other canine in their midst. “Good afternoon.” She greeted slowly, attempting to sound friendly though she still came off stiff. She glanced at the map he was studying, but it wasn't as if she could really look at it from her height. Instead, she turned her eyes up to look at his face and went on, “I would presume you are a new civilian as I have yet to make your acquaintance,” Well, his file's acquaintance more like it, but they were one and the same to her. “would I be correct in this assumption?

Indeed, the man was coming off as more and more suspicious as he assessed the situation, the woman frowning in turn as she took that in. Of course.. a lot of people were nervous when speaking to her.. But, then, Romane also thought that almost everyone in town had done something she could arrest them for, so that note didn't do much to help the other's case. She noted the golden retriever the man called to himself as he dogs did, a tad put off at the sight of the creature. It wasn't that she disliked dogs – she had two right next to her, after all, she wouldn't put up with her pair if she wasn't fond of them – but she didn't expect a suspect to have a good-natured one. Then again, plenty of people in town had dogs too and she suspected more than enough of that handful, so this probably wasn't as much of a sign as she was taking it. Reaffirmed, she looked back up at him as he had started to speak. He just came earlier this morning..? That wouldn't fit the time line very well.. But, he could be lying. She would have to check the boat records later for Auguste Vineyard.. It was a unique enough name, she was sure it wouldn't take long to locate it.

'Familiar'.” She repeated once he finished, zeroing in on how he phrased that. Familiar could possibly imply he had seen it before, which could mean he had been to the area before, which would also say that he was still a suspect. Of course, it also could mean that he was just looking for some recognizable features of the town, which seemed more likely the case, but.. Romane felt like she had at least some kind of lead! She couldn't just let it go because of what was more plausible! She did a quick nod to show she understood him, “I am Officer Romane Bissette and I patrol this area daily and nightly.” True~! After she got over her fears of leaving the house, she had taken her usual routine back up again, albeit with the dogs at her side constantly. ..Or Cid, but he was basically a dog in a way. “There is no one in this town I am unaware of. If you wish to become acquainted to the fullest in a short time, I would suggest following me.” The 'offer' came off as more of a command. ..Well, she told Rachel that she would go on a walk, so of course she couldn't drop it to interrogate a stranger. She could do that just fine while on the move. She held her hand out with a pointed look at his map, wanting to scan it over before they moved on.

Well, it would take much more than just a warm smile to get him free from suspicion! ..Even if the smile reminded her of Cid.. … She should try to do something with the monk again, it had been awhile since they went out. Ah, but, regardless, the warm smile wasn't enough! Though, she did soften in the slightest degree at the sight of it. She took the map as he handed it over to her, inwardly snorting at his explanation. Really, she hadn't asked, him trying to explain something like that just made her even more suspicious! It sounded like he was trying to hide something with it.. She frowned and glanced down at her utility belt, her blue eyes going to the radio on the right of her hip before she even looked at the map. Should she call Rachel? This was a lead on their case, following it could prove dangerous if she didn't notify her superior.. ..But, it was likely that the blond would tell her to drop it and, as her subordinate, she would have no choice but to do so. It could get her into more trouble to not tell the woman, but if it gave them something in the end, it would justify it. She stole her eyes from there and gave a look up at the man to check on him – he seemed to be just fine. She looked at the dogs – the female seemed to be hyper, but not aggressive, Korth was wagging his own stub of a tail and whimpering along with Mauser to be allowed to play, but there wasn't any time for that.

Now, finally, she went back to the map, her eyes going straight for the circled area. It wasn't very far from where they were.. The farms were in the area, as well as the ruins, the abandoned zoo, her home, the German's home, the hot spring, part of the mountain – hold up. She drew her eyes back down and narrowed them. Her home was in the area of interest! That meant.. there was a possibility something was to occur in the same place her home was in. But, what could possibly be done so close to the residence of an authority figure? Unless he wasn't aware..? Ah, Romane did steer clear of all of the windows.. and she was cautious every time she left the house – it was a possibility someone could think only Cid and Suzy lived there.

..It would be better not to alert him to this, though – she didn't want the location to change. She folded the map and looked back at Auguste, “It is the most beneficial decision for both of us for you to accept my offer, Mr. Vineyard.” She informed him honestly and put her attention to her dogs, “Korth, Mauserfollow.” Both animal's ears flicked towards her, their bodies stiffening for a moment as they took in the command and waited for the woman to lead them. She turned the same commanding look onto Auguste before turning to head off in the streets, her dogs following as soon as she started to move in the first destinations direction.

Raiden was walking down the street with his hands in his pocket, par usual. He didn't really have anywhere to go from here, but the stop in the square had got him a nice tea! That was rather exciting. But, the fact that he offended his boss's child was not. He ran through what he said to her over and over. It honestly didn't seem that bad, but maybe that was because he was the weird one that said it. Damn, he needed to work on his social skills. But, that was why he signed up for every little date that he could. Hoping to meet some random person to spend his time with. The sad life of the badass kid. He needed someone to talk to? That didn't sound like the person he tried to show everyone he was. He shook his head and kicked a pebble down the road while lighting up. Was it just him or did Haruka make him need to smoke more?

...Crap, it had taken her much longer than she had anticipated to gather her things. By the time Haruka started after the man, she was a lot farther behind than she had wanted. Stupid long legs! Raiden was even taller than Yuuto, so she hadn't realized that he would be able to walk so quickly. So the teenage girl jogged after him, arms loaded up with bags. "Wait!" she called out, but her voice didn't reach as far as she had wanted. Dear lord, she was in such bad shape. She was slim, but that didn't mean that she wasn't a slow runner! Her heels clicked loudly against the pavement as she struggled to catch up. "Hey, Raiden, wait," she tried again. "For godssake, stop walking!" Haruka reached out and grabbed the back of Raiden's coat as she finally came to a stop. She was a little out of breath, her hair was probably a bit of a mess, too. Letting go, she adjusted the straps of the bags that weighed down on her wrists and forearms, as she let out a long sigh. "Listen, that's not what I meant," she said firmly, looking him straight in the eye once they were facing each other, though it didn't last for long.

Sometimes, Kevin really regretted to be blind. If he could see, he would so use a black BMW convertible to get himself around town instead of always having to walk everywhere. How could the people of this town be okay with things like that? Oh well, he suppose there was a reason why there wasn’t a single fat person on the island. Not that he would complain about that, but damn, right now, he’d like to have a bus or something to bring him from his apartment on the east side of the island to the townhall, which was on the west side! If it hadn’t been that his place was just awesome, and totally his, he would have moved closer a while ago! Oh well, he didn’t really have anything to complain about other than complaining for the sake of complaining. At least it was a heat wave in summer or a snowstorm in winter. Oh well, for now, he would need to keep walking the same distance on the same street form the same point toward the same other point. God, he was in need of some change.

Hans whistled lightly as he took Abel, his Doberman pincher, now getting to be an old hound, for a walk. The dog still was doing well, but even Hans knew the dog was middle aged for Dog years. And he didnt want to see his companion go. He had many years left to go.. but still.. it was that halfway realization point that the dog.. along with himself, wasnt so young anymore. Hans himself would be coming up on 30 years soon enough. And he had yet to settle down and have a family, whether it be with a male, or female, adopted or his own seed carried into the next generation.

Shaking his head Hans tried to rid himself of that thought, but it soon came back when he thought of Kevin. Two years ago at the New Years Eve party at the Grindhouse had Han questioning his and Kevins.. iffy relationship. And for the past two years he had barely seen the man, Kevin claimed he was busy alot, and while Hans believed him... there was just that nagging feeling that.. Kevin didnt care for him. Their relationship hadnt deepened any, not that you could even call it a relationship. And maybe thats what bugged the German. Maybe he should give up on the beautiful blind man and go after a nice girl..

Hans was deep in his thoughts when Abel barked at an approaching male. Tugging on the leash to get his masters attention Abel barked again at Kevin heading their way. Speak of the devil..

"Kevin.. Guten Tag. Ist Hans, long time nein see, ja?" Hans said gently. But it was true.. too true.. where was his crush going all the time that he couldnt spend some time with him? Hans ceased walking and Abel heeled infront of him, tugging on the leash to sniff Kevin as he walked by. Would the blind lawyer even stop to say hello?

"Ah! Hansel. No need to introduce yourself, your voice is very... unique." The lawyer said with a little tone of amusement. He really just was pointing out Hasel's accent. Of all the people living on the island, he was probably the one with the worst english. Not that it was a bad things, it just made him stand out more of the rest of the people nearby. Of course, Kevin had never met the new Russian guy on the island. He felt somethign fubling next to his feet, which could only be the German's dog. Kevin wasn't really a dog person, but at least he wasn't afraid of them or anything like that. He just found them too active and too nosy... in every sense of the word. "Ah, don't lie Hansel. We've seen each other two or three weeks ago. Or is it that you miss me so much that you think it's been longer?" Kevin teased the blonde man. They had seen each other now and then in the last two years... encounter which didn't always include clothes, but Hans was right when he was thinking that Kevin hadn't spend much time with him lately. Spring was always busy... with Benedikt. "I'm sorry for that... but you know I'm always busy in spring. All the new year paper work, the new lawsuit and everythign.. Hey! that's an idea. If you want to spend more time with me, why don't you just sue someone?" A bit extream, but hey, that would work!

Dont lie? Two or three weeks since they saw eachother?! Busy or not that was once a month if that that he was seeing Kevin. Something was up. It had to be. Honestly who was suing someone every spring here on the island? Hans sighed lightly.

"Ja. I guess i just miss you. Aber im not going to sue somevone, i have nein reason to. Und im not ein malicious man." Hans said gently. Something was up and of course Kevin was playing it off as it being Hans's insecurity.

But what kind of a relationship that wasnt long distance had people seeing one another once a month? Hell Walter worked for the crazy a** Sonata's who always had the butler on his toes and working late hours. But Walter would always make an appearance at Gladice's at least once or twice a week. And not only that, but at the Cafe as well for his afternoon tea. And Kade's house as well, along with some other places, God knows if the man slept but hey. If Walter could do it, then there was no reason why Kevin couldnt.

"I vould invite you to mein hause fur Dinner tonight.. but im sure you're busy." Hans said gently. He wanted to believe Kevin, that his work just kept him that busy.. for some reason. But the fact remained. Either Kevin had someone else he was seeing, or he just didnt care that much about Hans period. And if that was the case.. then Hans needed a drink.. badly. Was it too early in the day to go to the grindhouse and get drunk?

The Lawyer smiled back at Hansel. It was good to feel like someone was needing you, missing you. It wasn't somewhere like back in New-York that someone would have missed him. People were so... cold and distant there. Always hurying, running around all day long. You wanted to make money in that city? Get yourself a coffee shop; you'd be rich by the end of the day. "Now, now, who is it who's not willing to make an effort to spend some time with me? I'm sure you could sue the mayor for something. Sliped on any ice last winter? I'm sure you could make a casse out of it." He said, still a joking tone in his voice. Well, they could sue Gaston for that and the would probably win too, but did he really want to add one more lawsuit to his busy spring? Not really.

He took a moment to consider Hansel's offer. Did he have time for dinner? Not really. But he ]had been neglecting the German. He could make an offer, but when and where? "I don't have time today, no, sorry... but... We could grab lunch? Monday? At the inn? I heard they expended." It was as good as any. It would had to be quick, but at least they would see each other. That was better than nothing.

Of course not today. But.. Hans couldnt pass up a lunch date. At the newly expanded inn too? "Ja, ztat sounds gut, Kevin. Ve can get caught up und have ein nice lunch." Hans said with a light smile. Still it nagged him that Kevin, joking aside, acted like Hans was the one with the issue here. It wasnt right! He would just have to head to the Store and talk it out with Vlad... drinking sounded good too.

"It vill be ein date zten. I vill see you Monday, ja? Vell i vill let you go, to do your vork. Aufveidersehen Kevin." Hans said to the man. Abel was already tugging on the leash to get going. So Hans started walking away. "See you soon." He said gently before Abel pulled him in the wrong direction to go run after a squirrel.

Kevin simply smilled at his friend as that one was pulled away from his dog. Hansel was nice, yes, and a bit stupid, or rather, naive, but that was something Kevin could do with. It was always good to have naive friend, but he knew that Hansel wanted to be more than just friends. Yes, he was a good ********, the lawyer would admit that much, and he was a nice person, but Kevin wasn't the kind of person to settle down in a relation... or at least a monogamous one. He had never ever told Hansel that he would, nor had he ever called him his boyfriend or anything like that. He just hopped that the German man was not getting the wrong idea out of all that... and if he was, well, dammit, it was all his fault. Kevin had never admited to anything and like it to stay like that. For now.. he'd keep seeing the man with whim he had conned Hansel two years ago every spring. Could one blame a blind lawyer to look for as much pleasure in as many places possible? Oh, of course one could, but KEvin would just sue them.
