"Oh, that's understandable," Aruna said, nodding her head slightly. "I guess you didn't really have to decide whether or not to join the tribe, since you were born into it." She considered what she was told for a few moments, interested in Ki's apperent lack of friends. She supposed it wasn't too lonely, since he had his family, but to go about a tribe hardly interacting with the other members? Well, Aruna wasn't one to judge, so she didn't dwell on the thought too much.
She returned from her thoughts and glanced at the surrounding areas. She hadn't been paying attention for a while now, just allowed herself to be led down along the path. The foot of the mountain wasn't too far away now. "So where exactly are we heading?" Aruna asked, looking back up at Ki. He had prompted them to leave the mountain, so she wanted him to decide where to go. It seemed a bit as if they were headed back towards Kurai, but she couldn't be too sure if that was his intended destination, or if he even had one.

"I was indeed given the choice of whether or not I wanted to join." Ki corrected her as they walked. "When I became old enough to live on my own, I was given the choice of staying with the tribe or leaving if I couldn't handle it. I, along with my brothers, decided to stay." He looked down at her with almost a displeased expression. "There aren't many other tribes out there that would be suitable for my kind." But Ki didn't mind that too much; it gave him a good reason to stay with his family.
Another grin made it's way to Ki's face at Aruna's question. "I am bringing you home." He said as if were the only possible answer. Now that Ki knew Aruna was related to someone in the tribe, he wouldn't feel so bad about facing his father when he brought her home. He was also quiet sure his mother would be pleased to meet such an interesting vixen. There was nothing left for them out here, but there was much to do back at the tribe.

"Ohh," Aruna repeated, feeling as if she said that a little too much. "I guess I just assumed, since none of my cousins left their parent's tribe, either." Aruna laughed, nodding. She wasn't too surprised that finding a suitable tribe would be difficult for 'Daeva's. 'Phims, she had seen a few in Kousetsu, didn't seem to have that kind of a problem.
Aruna smiled when she saw the grin on Ki's face. "Home, huh?" She said. "Haven't had one of those in a while. Well, even if I don't find my brother again this time, at least you'll be there." Aruna chuckled, this time thinking of what Caelan would think. He hadn't known that she looked for him before, or that she wanted to live with him in Kurai. "It will definitely be interesting seeing Caelan again. And his reaction to seeing me with you and wanting to join Kurai."

Ki wondered what it was like for foxes like Aruna who didn't have tribes and didn't have homes. Did they always just wander around? What if they got tired of that? Where would they go? Ki always had Kurai and his family to return to no matter what the circumstances were. It just seemed odd to not have a home to return to. But he didn't question Aruna down about it since she had already said enough about her family life.
"Oh, we will find your brother. He will be fairly easy to locate once on the tribe lands." Ki told her in a matter of fact tone of voice. "What will be insteresting to see is not only Caelan's reaction to me bringing you to join the tribe, but also the rest of the tribe seeing me bring you to join the tribe." Ki couldn't help but chuckle a little bit. He knew he's family at the least would be shocked.

Aruna smiled, excited at the prospect joining a tribe. "You're probably right," she replied with a laugh, "I always manage to receive strange reactions from people." Caelan hadn't told her much about the others in Kurai, but if a family of 'Daeva's had joined who knew what other sorts of interesting foxes would be about. Well, Ki would know.
"How many other foxes are in Kurai?" Aruna asked. "Anything special about them?" She knew the basic premise of the tribe, Caelan had told them as much, but didn't know the kind of foxes that attracted. Certainly interesting ones, to be sure.

Ki fully understood about receiving strange reactions from foxes. He could usually tell right off the bat if a fox had seen a Daeva before or not by the way they observed him. Those who hadn't seen one of his kind before often questioned him down about his flames and wings. He couldn't stand those kinds of foxes.
The large Daeva's ears perked up at the questions about his tribe. "Well, I know there is at least more than ten." He replied to her first question. "As to if there is anything interesting about them..." Ki trailed off and gave a small chuckle.
"There's Koumori who's a vampire. Actually, I think Aido and his kids are vampires too. They've got that weird paw thing going on. And then there is Nex who wears a bone mask all the time. Certainly having a family of 'Daeva's is an interesting concept in itself." Ki gave Aruna a lopsided smile. "There are a lot of normal members, but trust me, you won't be at all out of place."

Aruna hadn't expected much, perhaps a few interesting personalities, but nothing like what she heard. "Vampire?" She repeated, questioningly. "As in blood-sucking? Real ones?" And there was a family of them, too. "What do you mean by weird paw thing?" More questions swarmed, but she didn't want to bombard Ki with them. She would see soon enough, anyways.
She returned his lopsided smile with a laugh of her own. "So what does a family of 'Daevas do when surrounded by so many strange foxes?" She asked with a laugh. She didn't really know what Ki did in his spare time, though presumably Agni went about bothering 'Phims.

Ki couldn't resist yet another chuckle as Aruna asked about the members of his tribe. Soon to be their tribe. "Yes, vampire as in the real ones." He said smiling lightly as he thought of the blood splattered coat of Koumori. Ki didn't bother to answer the vixen's question about the weird paw thing of the others, she'd see for herself and be able to understand then much better that him trying to explain it.
"What does a family of 'Daeva's do in such a situation?" Ki repeated, his smile widening at Aruna's laugh. "We fit in." And it was true. Surrounded by normal foxes, Ki's family stood out like a sore thumb. But in the Kurai tribe, Ki never felt out of place or to strange, he always felt at home with the others. Many of them were also misfits so it made it easy to fit in with them. Ki hoped Aruna would be able to feel that connection as well.

Still baffled by the "vampire" aspect of it all, Aruna rolled her eyes. "Odd that Caelan never mentioned that particular detail when he was informing me and my mother of Kurai," she said with a chuckle. Hoenstly she wasn't too surprised. No need to make Terra worry. Or Uncle Kyou, for that matter. "Well, Caelan is still alive and safe," Aruna said with a shrug. "What safer place is there than surrounded by a bunch of dangerous foxes that won't turn on you?" She had to chuckle a little at the irony.
A warm smile spread across her face at Ki's words. She knew how hard it was to fit in. It was probably much more difficult for a family of 'Daeva's. "I'm glad they've been so welcoming of you and your family," she finally responded. "I hope I'll meet with the same acceptance." Aruna wasn't too worried, knowing both Ki and her brother in the tribe. Besides, considering Ki's description of them, her strange genetics would probably fit in fine.

Ki hadn't thought about that aspect of it. There probably wasn't a safer place than Kurai, if one was on their good side. There probably wasn't a more dangerous place if one was on their bad side either. Being a 'Daeva, Ki had never worried about safety. Foxes like Aruna probably worried about it all the time. Safety was such a weird concept to him. He wondered if Aruna actually felt safe with him and wasn't just putting up a front. Could she actually be messing with him?
He hadn't thought of the situation like such until now. Aruna could easily be playing him. Her cute little charm, her understanding of him. She could easily just be opening up to him to use him for some kind of scheme.
No. Ki shook the thoughts from his head. When had he become so paranoid? Although he hadn't know Aruna long, he knew she wasn't like that. She wasn't a 'Daeva, she didn't have the underlying darkness that they had. Eager to put the thoughts from his mind, he continued the conversation.
"I'm sure you'll be met with acceptance." His eyes glanced to her ear and a smile played at his lips. "Although I've never viewed our tribe as welcoming. Welcoming seems to... warm of a word."

Aruna laughed, and nodded. "You're probably right. From the decriptions Kurai seems to be full of the tough sort of foxes. The kind to hide their emotions. Or not really have any," she joked, though she couldn't exactly judge a group of foxes she had yet to meet.
She highly doubted they were all 'emotionless' though. Why join a tribe if they didn't care? And Ki's parents probably loved for each other. They were lifemates, after all, and had children. That was much more than what she could say for her own family.

"Eh." Ki shrugged. "We keep to ourselves. We have emotions, we just don't flaunt them all over the place." He couldn't help but smile a little as he thought of the members of Kurai. They definitely did not flaunt emotions. Love and affection was a rare thing to be seen among his tribe and his family.
That's not to say they didn't love each other. His mother and father loved each other very much. And his parents cared for him much more than their parents ever had for them but they had a different way of showing than most. Ki cared for his tribe and his family but he rarely showed it. It wasn't that he was hiding it or didn't have emotions, he just didn't care enough.
Aruna didn't seem like the sort of vixen that would make a big deal about emotions or feelings either. She, like him, probably had subtle ways of showing what she was feeling. Ki looked at her, trying to see if he could tell what she was feeling. It had been awhile since he'd tried to read a fox other than his brothers.

Aruna nodded in understanding, thoughts wandering back to her own family. They were all fairly open about their emotions. Well with Embry constantly happy, she supposed it wasn't too difficult for all of them. Frankly, Aruna honestly didn't know how she herself reacted. In her short life, the vixen couldn't recall a time wherein she was terribly grieved or outraged. Simple joy or sadness, yes, but Aruna was the type to take everything in stride. Nothing was ever too bad, or too good. She glanced up at the sky to think about it, a habit inherited from her mother. Aruna almost forgot that she was ignoring Ki a little.
"That's fairly different from my mother and siblings," she finally said, repeating her earlier thoughts. Her gaze returned moved back from the sky to him. "Sorry, I was just thinking for a bit. Not really about anything important, though. Just wondering how I would react when under stress, or if ever I get really angry or sad. I'm not really sure, since I haven't exactly experienced any of it."

Ki was expecting Aruna to say something to continue their conversation and when her reply didn't come, he stopped to look at her curiously. It was easy to tell that she was lost in thought as she was staring at the sky while she continued moving. Ki almost wanted to ask what she was thinking but decided that it was none of his business. If Aruna wanted him to know, she'd tell him.
He was almost relieved when she spoke again, shattering the silence that had fallen between them. Honestly, he didn't really want to know how she reacted when she was angry or sad because he never wanted to see her that way. Ki did, however, wonder how Aruna acted when she was exceptionally happy.
"I would assume, just like you have control over your fire, you would have control of your emotions regardless of the situation. But then again, fire can not be contained forever and eventually runs wild, just as I am led to believe emotions do."

Aruna smiled at the analogy. "I like it," she said of his reasoning. "It makes sense, and you're probably right." After all, it wasn't as if she was completely emotionless on the outside. She smiled and frowned as much as the next fox. "But does this theory only apply to me?" Aruna asked, turning her attention back to Ki. "You, after all, control your emotions quite well. Will they eventually run rampant, as my own might?" She smiled before adding, "or are you above all that?"
Aruna was merely joking at the last bit, but was also curious as to his thoughts. No one knew Ki better than himself, after all. And there was still a lot about him that she didn't know. He kept saying how fun it was to rile his brother up, and Aruna wondered whether Ki had ever been angered like that himself.
