R'ael, tossing his ball hand to hand as he joins the rest of the weyrlings, looks around for someone left to switch with. Again, the great dilema that most of them had already closed ranks, so a lot of them had already been handed off... He glanced between K'tir and G'dor with a shrug. "I've got a red...who needs to switch off then?" He inquires, holding it up between his fingertips.

((eh, dun feel like switching accounts))
"I'll trade," L'mur offered. He tossed the green ball he'd chosen to R'ael in exchange for his red. L'mur turned away from the group and mentally "reached" for Saranth's presence in his mind.
Ready? he asked. Focusing his eyes lightly on the small red ball, he tried to let the image fill his mind, still keeping that contact with his dragon. L'mur certainly had experience with speaking to dragons, but letting one see through his eyes was slightly different. This time he deliberately avoided thinking words like "red" or "ball," but let Saranth do the work.
This is disorienting, she complained. Why can you not just tell me what you see? I always hear you, Mine.
L'mur sighed. When we fight Thread together, I won't have time to talk to you. We'll need to see through and for each other. Make sense? He felt the green dragonet nod.
Fine, Saranth grumbled. The ball in your hand is red, by the way. She let her amusement fill her rider's mind, thoroughly pleased with both their success and her little joke.
You sneaky little green! We've done it! he crowed mentally.

((XD shame on you, fifty lashes with a wet noodle))
R'ael breaks into a grin, tossing his own red ball to L'mur. "Thanks a lot..."
I don't understand this exersise...Jaiereth lamented, somewhere out of sight, as R'ael examined the green in his hands. But I suppose we will in time... He adds, mimicing R'aels unfinished thought.
I'm sure we will... R'ael noted back. But tell me...what color is it? He frowned, staring at the ball and trying to visualise other green things. The grass, the trees and moss at the swimming hole...Kahlin's flit too, for that matter....
Flit colored, mine? Jaireth responds amused. Green?
"YES!" He bursts out, then imediately turns red faced. I mean yes...Oh shards...

Farin stayed back as the weyrlings slowly connected about with their dragons as to the colors of their respective balls. "After you have finished, switch again or grab a new ball from the bag, and do it one more time. Then, we shall reverse the trick. Your dragon and your mind must be as indistinguishable as possible. Your dragon will not always know the words for what he or she sees- so you must lean to understand what they see, and they must be able to know you as well." Moth meanwhile, kept the Weyrlingmaster informed as to the progress of the dragonets. They do not understand the exercise. Farin shook her head. She didn't expect the dragonets to understand- but it was good for them to start taking orders, for there would be few times when a dragon would truly understand what he or she was doing. Dragons barely remembered thread falls, let alone these simple exercises. "This ability will help your dragon when it begins to start flying between. And your life depends on your ability to share information from your head with your dragon. You can see then, why this is important."

Why are you thinking of blue, mine? What is blue? Datiath tried to move so he could meet his rider's eyes but N'tren kept changins his position. Thinking harder about the color blue and round objects like fruit and the sun, the youth was begining to get a headache.
"Datiath. You have to see the picture in my mind. If you can't see from me then we could be in big trouble when we go between. You must focus and try to see what I am seeing." Sitting down with the dark blue ball in his hands, he thought extra hard about the blue ball until he could almost touch it in his mind. That had to be a strong enough visulization for his dragon.
It is a blue ball. Datiath said sulkeningly. Now will you come back to me?
"Not yet. We still have to practice and get faster." Turning to another random weyrling, N'tren gave a faint grin. Switch?"

Remia could feel Trith in the back of her mind, a curious prescence, but rather still confused.
You are holding a yellow ball, mine, but why could you not just show it to me?
Remia mentally crowed their sucess, a huge smile plastered on her face.
Because, as the Weyrlingmaster said, if we aren't able to see what the other sees... we could be in trouble when it comes time for us to go between. You have to be able to see what I see clearly, so we make it to the right place.
She could feel her dragon pondering this, and then acceptance.
Okay. We will try again, and I will see the ball faster. Get a new ball, mine! Trith said excitedly.
Remia laughed, and looked around for someone else to trade with.
"Anyone ready to trade?" she asked, holding the yellow ball in her hands.

R'ael glances up, listening intently as the weyrling master speaks. Between...thats something to be cautious of as Jaiereth gets bigger. If this will make us stronger as others say... Jaiereth responded, emboldened. Than let us do this many many times, we will be so fine that they will speak of us in stories. The blue has developed some of R'aels taste for listening to balads and stories, and perhaps a little of his far flung dreams. The commentary makes R'ael grin again, sharing his amusement with the young dragon before holding up the gree ball toward Remia. "I'll trade with you!"

"Thanks." T'nel grined wryly as he accepted the red ball from J'riar, before offering his own. Carefully concealing the ball, he glanced swiftly back at Falmanth, who was still watching apprehensively.
Ok, Falmanth. You need to try to- he stopped abrubtly, trying to think about how to explain the concept. You need to see through my eyes, Mine, and tell me what color ball I have in my hand.
Falmanth, confused at the strange command, nevertheless tried to do what T'nel had suggested. The blue rider felt the brush of the dragonet's conscience grow stronger, and Falmanth gave an answer, though it was uncertain and hesitant.
Is it blue, Mine?
T'nel smiled. No, Fallie. It's ok, try again. This time, T'nel concentrated on the ball without actually thinking the color. Falmanth's mental brush was more firm now, as he tried to see what his rider had.
It' red. came the eventual answer, more certain than it was before. T'nel smiled. Thats great, Fallie!
The dragonet preened at th praise, and T'nel laughed. Ok, we've got to do this one more time, so give me a minute to switch the ball again. he said, looking around for another Weyrling to trade with.

((*noodle-lashed* ;_; again))
L'mur tossed the red ball towards the group in exchange for a yellow one. Ready, Saranth? And this time, no tricks! He let his eyes unfocus slightly, allowing the green full access to his mind.
It is yellow, she replied promptly, proud of herself. This is fun! We will switch soon?
Yes. We will keep practicing.

N'tren tossed his ball to T'nel and gave a grin as he hid the ball from Datiath. He could see his bronze starting to lighten up as the other dragonets got into the new game. N'tren began to think about the color of redfruit, the color of the stone in his mother's necklace...the color of blood. It couldn't be helped...they all had to bleed sometime.
It is red this time. How many more times must we do this? Datiath replied in a bored tone. Some of the others do not care for this game.
"As many times as it takes. I told you that before. You do not want to go between and stay there do you?" N'tren's voice quivvered at the thought of staying between forever. "Just a few more times and then you can make me think hard."
Datiath perked up at the thought. Really?

After trading his ball with another weyrling K'tir had ended up with a yellow one this time. Okay Cronth, you have to guess now what color ball I'm holding. At that time he started to concentrate on anything that he knew was yellow. The sun, the color of the wheat in his fathers field, his sisters dress...
It's yellow isn't it?
K'tir blinked, he had not expected his bronze to get it right on the first try. Good Cronth, now lets do it again.
Alright, even though I don't really understand why we have to do this.
K'tir chuckled as he looked around for someone to trade his ball with. He knew why the weyrlingmaster had them do this excercise, but even if he tried to explain it right now, his dragonet was still too you to completely understand.

Remia happily traded with R'ael, accepting the green ball with a beaming smile as she handed her own over to him. "Thank you... R'ael, right?" she asked, hoping she had named him correctly. She only knew him through association, but she tried to remember everyone.
When he turned back to the task, she did as well, and with more confidence due to their success before, she talked to her dragonet and asked, Are you ready, Trith? What color is the ball now?
She felt Trith reach, the feeling was more certain that it had been last time, but still wavered at the edges; this excersize was only the start.
I can't see, Mine... Trith said with a bit of dissapointment coloring her tone.
Try again, love. Remia told her, and 'reached' out towards the little green as well.
There was a pause, and then, It is green, mine? she asked.
Yes! she said to her dragonet, and then dropped the ball in her lap to clap happily before saying, I think we are switching again... and looking around for someone else to switch with.

"Yeah, it's R'ael..." He grins, pleased that someone actually knew his name, though embarassed because he's not sure of -her- name. "Sorry I'm afraid I've forgotten yours..." He says though he'll have to fix that after they're done here. Yellow ball...lets see...what to associate that with? Some fish he'd caught had bright yellow eyes...and his younger sister had a doll who's dress was that color...He frowns, focusing hard on the color, and trying to reach for Jaiereth's mind as well. Another? The dragonet inquires with interest, then adds with amusement. Fish?...then more seriously. Oh! Yellow! Is it yellow, mine? It's yellow...He assured with an grin.

Looking back at R'ael, Remia smiled sympathetically. "It's alright, I wouldn't have expected you to know my name. I'm Remia," she said, and held out a hand for him to shake.
"The only reason I know your name is because... well... I practice names so that I don't forget them," she added quietly with a light blush, realizing how strange that might sound.
He is embarrassed because he didn't know your name, and you're embarrased because you did know his... I don't understand, mine... Trith said from where she was still sitting with the other dragonets.
It is odd, isn't it, love? I guess... I'm embarrassed because I made him embarrassed? That doesn't make much sense either...

"Hey, I don't think I have had that one yet," N'tren spoke to a weyrling near him. He was not sure if he had spoke to this guy before or if Datiath knew his dragon.
It is the rider of Cronth. We have spoke but his rider stays to himself. Datiath replied lazily.
"My name is N'tren, rider of Datiath. Can we switch balls? I think we might almost be done..."
