Jack damnit! She was late! In truth she had gotten lost on her way after taking a bit of time to practice an animator spell. That had resulted in her chasing a broom all over the reaper dorms. Tartalo had been very tired from that event so she had left him back in her dorm. But at least she was here. She was able to catch the last bit of what the professor said and recieve her candies. Hmm, most definately weird. But she had to learn to control her own shdaow before she could bring others to life.

She didn't even bother to see what other students were here, she just shoved a candy into her mouth to being her class. No need to make herself any more behind. Oh the feeling was completely humaniodal! She shivered horribly as her shadow came to life. She stared at it. It seemed to stare back at her. She blinked. It just hung around. Suddenly it shot off like a rocket and zoomed around on the ceiling.

"Hey! Get down here!"

Oh great. She had enough trouble controling the things she brought to life, let alone her own shadow! This wasn't going to be easy! As she ran around, trying to keep up with it, she noticed a few other people she knew. Daisuke of all of them. Thats when she saw her shadow make a beeline for his. Oh geez!! It was going to fast!!

"Daisuke! Tell your shadow to watch ou...."

She stopped as soon as her shadow tackled Dai Shadow and spun him around. She blushed brightly and ran over, trying to will her shdaow to behave. Yeah, like that was going to happen. It proceeded to dance about making shdaow faces at her.

"I'm not so sure this class is gonna be fun."

Her shadow seemed to whisper something to Dai Shadow then took off again. Now it was heading for...Val? That creepy undead doctor guy? Oh maaaaaaaaaaan. She ran off again as it began to sneak attack Val Shadow.

What? What was going on! At first Daisuke hadn't noticed the blonde reaper enter and he was even more surprised the moment she was running over to him, which caused a grin to exceed across his lips. It soon faded when her own expression held a certainly less amused one, yelling something about. . . Her own shadow? He quickly glanced at his own to see it being tackled. His eyes widened like dish plates. W-what was it doing to ShadowDai? Was it dancing with it??

A blush spread across his face willed by a glance over at Lilura and the red one that had spread across hers. Great, just great! How embarrassing but it did cause him to just burst out in to a laugh at the nervousness not knowing what else to do.

"How, cute." He chuckled, watching the shadows once more. Then for no warning, she whispered to it and took off again. For a moment his shadow just stood deadly still and he raised an eyebrow at it before it shot off in ShadowLil's direction towards the undead doctor.

"What are you both doing!? G-get back here!!" He shouted, jumping over the table as he chased it. What could they possibly do to stop a shadow? This was a failed attempt right from the start. He followed Lilura and the shadows and stopped just before they got to the other student and slapped his hands over his eyes. He couldn't watch; but in an insane, strange way he had to disagree. It was fun, if not humiliating.

Siddie hadn't been late. In fact, she'd been early, finding the prospect of an easy class thoroughly appealing, and getting in good with the notoriously irritable Professor Hellma had seemed like an excellent idea.

However, her plans had been thoroughly ruined by falling asleep in her chair while she waited.

She jerked awake when someone handed her something - what - candy? Huh? "Thanks!" she chirped, mouth on autopilot while her mind scrambled to catch up. A surreptitious glance around told her that everyone else was eating theirs; she hurried to comply, wondering what she'd missed.

She was entirely unprepared for the candy's effect. "Ow! Ow ow ouch!" It felt like someone had taken a knife to her feet; as she pulled them up in reflexive response, she saw with shock that her floor-shadow had separated from her. She stared at it.

It stared back. Then it made a rude gesture.

"Hey!"

Unlike Siddie herself, her shadow had no facial features. However, that was definitely a smirk on its face. It turned and sauntered off across the floor ... and promptly bumped into a large, reptilian shadow. It flailed, regained its balance, then put its hands indignantly on its hips. "Watch where you're going!"

"Hey!" Siddie protested again. "I didn't tell you to say that!"

The shadow tipped its head in her direction briefly and considered her. "TThhbbpbppbppbpppt."

(( Siddie's natural fear is speaking through shadows. Heh.

Lucien's shadow had decided it didn't want to come down, much preferring to tease and mock Lucien at the high distance. It didn't please Lucien to have his shadow not listen to him and frustrated he floated up to meet his shadow only to have it take off in another direction! It was hard to tell where exactly it was heading as Lucien rushed off to follow it. It would be terrible to lose his shadow! How would it know who to go back to if not even Lucien could find it.

The shadow paused for a moment, playful almost, giving Lucien a chance to catch up. He growled in his throat and hurried after it. His shadow made a laughing motion, arms wrapping around it's stomach and bending over before saluting to Lucien and taking off again.

AH!

Lucien looked right, and then looked left. He made sure to look up and then down. Ah ha! Over there! His shadow! It was... creeping up on Israfel's shadow as it was distracted with Tybalt's shadow. Closer... closer... closer... Lucien went to yell out and just as he was about to he was distracted as he watched his shadow lunge at Israfel's shadow's back, preparing to tackle it.

"Watch out!" He finally yelled after gathering his wits, rushing over to them.

Valentino was 0-14, and about to lose another staring contest with his shadow. He had severely underestimated its skill at staring back and suspected that his shadow's lack of eyes and eyelids were unfair advantages. He had still been mostly unable to control his shadow in any meaningful way. It would only do the bare minimum required to ensure that Valentino knew the candy had worked.

he started to bargain with his shadow, "Do you want me to say some sort of magic word; perhaps apologize for all the things you've seen me do?" Valentino crossed his arms and took a long look at his shadow, eyes trying not to blink. The shadow stared back, Valentino thought he saw his shadow twitch, however it was too late to confirm it.

Another shadow had crept up behind Valentino's and was about to pounce. Both Valentino and his shadow were too preoccupied to notice the pouncing threat, and were oblivious until it was too late.

Anyone who was anyone would expect Sin's shadow to be in very big trouble. Shadow!G loomed mightly over the smaller shape, and one could almost imagine thunderbolts and lightning to start roaring at any minute. Its mouth opened wide, and just when it seemed it was all over... well, the apple was snatched up. Tail wagging placidly, the shadow took a seat next to Shadow!Sin, munching on the proffered fruit quite happily.

Then, of course, it got smacked into, and it gave an enormous start.

Staring for a moment, it seemed to consider whether or not to defend its apple quite rabidly, or look guilty. So, instead, it did both, hunching warily over its prize while flattening its ears at the same time. Eventually, there was a low sort of whine.

...There was a small tail wag. She wasn't really mad, was she?

Gargantuan could only watch rather with bewilderment, and, rather sadly, wish for an apple too.

Coralie was late. She could see how this could easily become a habit, as she had felt like she was making good time on her way there...well, nothing she could do about it now. She slipped in while the professor was first talking and eying the classroom with interest. She skirted around the sparkly corner that made her mildly queasy. She could tolerate a lot, but even she would rather be back in literature class snoozing away than have to endure something of that capacity. As she sat she barely managed to catch the last of the professor's explanation about the use of the candies. Help detach her shadow, hu? It didn't seem particularly useful (yes she had heard what had been said before to counter that thought), but at least it was interesting.

After receiving a candy like all the other students, she held it in the palm of her hand for a moment, just looking it over. She wasn't particularly afraid of putting strange things in her mouth, perhaps something of a skill she'd acquired from having to taste so many concoctions from one of her older sister's who favored potions and the like. Still, it didn't look particularly intimidating, though she could definitely sense something about it that she couldn't quite place. Eventually she shrugged, unwrapped it, and plopped it right on her tongue.

The sensation was an odd one, it wasn't quite the taste really, but something else, and it made her nearly cough and she ended up swallowing the thing whole. Within a few moment she felt a peeling sensation along the bottom of her feet, the same sort of thing you feel when you rip off a bandage slowly. Looking down she saw her shadow slip right off and away from where it had normally flowed right under her shoes. It made her feel a bit light-headed, admittedly, because visually it looked a bit like she was floating.

Her shadow didn't get very far and what was interesting was even though her hat was part of the shadow, it didn't seem to move like Wilfred would in the flesh...er fabric. She looked up at him and said with a short laugh, "I think I like that version of you better."

"It's awful crowded," commented Coralie!Shadow as she seemed to slip around the other shadows, trying not to run into them.

"Can you, as shadows, just move over each other?" Coralie asked, though she doubted her shadow knew and it was possible she didn't even hear her with everything else that was going on.

Silently, Ithilethiel made her way into the classroom. She cared for this particular classroom no more than she had any of the others. Though one thing she did not like was the crowd. Everyone seemed to be up, their shadows moving around. The whole scene was a bit unnerving and made Ithi feel crowded. She was late again though, so it was to be expected that everyone else would have already started. She hadn't meant to be late. She never MEANT to be.

Ithi examined the piece of candy given to her. She understood that if she ate it, her shadow would do like all the others. She raised a brow as she stared that the piece of candy. Then after glancing around at the other student's shadows, she popped the thing into her mouth.

At first, her shadow looked fairly normal. Unmoving as Ithi was unmoving. Then suddenly it seemed to disappear it moved so fast. Ithi blinked, feeling only slightly alarmed by this. She shifted her eyes around her in search of the lost shadow. However, it was her raven who found it first. Nekyia cawed once, catching Ithi's attention. She watched as the bird landed on the floor at the place where her shadow's shoulder was. Ithi glared at the bird and her shadow, feeling quite betrayed.

The professor surveyed the chaos with a rather grim expression. It was a...mixed batch, and likely to be just as bothersome as Snot level classes always were.

Hellma sighed, and spoke...well it wasn't quite shrieking, but it did cut though the noise, "As you have seen. The shadows, they vary. Some...stupidly energetic." With a roll of her eyes, she gestured to example a: Emily's shadow was currently spinning wildly on the ceiling, no form or shape discernible. The witch, having tried to keep up with it, could be found crouching behind her table, head between her legs, trying not to throw up or pass out for dizziness.

"And then we have more lackluster shadows." A wave of the hand included Raziel, Valentino, and several others. "The natural ability," a dismissive flick of the ruler in Siddie's direction. "And freaks." At this, a large shadow rose up behind Coralie's, and plucked it up, holding it firmly. "This...it is strange it should talk, unless you have a natural ability of such? Otherwise, it may be something of a..." the monster's expression soured, "gnome prank."

Deciding to ignore it for now, the headmistress continued, "What makes shadows so different? It is due to that which grants them energies, the darkness without is simply reflection of darkness within. The shadows of the mind and heart, the creeping nightmares that lurk around the corners of your thoughts. Those are what you see before you.

"An erratic and energetic shadow, it often, though not always, indicates great depth of this inner darkness. Ignorance or the denial of this darkness can make control...most difficult. A shadow that's too lethargic or easily controlled...it would best not to be complacent with such. They can be cunning and tricksome things, and may seek to lull you into false sense of skill and ability. That or your inner darkness it a shallow, pathetic thing." The disgust in the professor's voice indicated that she felt the latter was likely true. This rotting lot of Snots, did they think they could really sneak in?

Seeing a couple hands in the air, she rolled her eyes again, "Yes, the popinjay of a siren, and the head case zombie...the female one, you have questions?"

He wanted to say he was certainly not a popinjay! His second cousin was a 'popinjay' and he'd have Ms Shox know that such racism was not very becoming of the headmistress of such a reputable school.
Israfel would have said this, if he wasn't utterly terrified of Hellma Shox and the fact he'd just been insulted in front of his peers. Insecurities flourished. "Uh, um-" He hesitated. No doubt at the anger of his professor. "If our shadows take damage...er. Say one shadow eat or tries to eat another. What um-" His eyes flicked to his own shadow, who seemed terribly busy with creating a nest. Then dive bombing the shadows of the dog and cat for some fur. No doubt to line it's shadow nest with. Israfel grew more worried as his shadow tried this, it was bird shaped! It just went close to a cat shape! And a dog shape! That was...not only bold but dangerous!

"What will happen if our shadows get hurt? They can't get hurt can then? They can't get eaten or killed can they?" He was panicking a bit.
Just a bit.

His shadow was acting like it's nesting habits were no big deal.

And rolling as instructed.))

By the third class, Maritess had decided she would always be a straggler when it came to studies. But that was good, wasn’t it? She was supposed to be reinventing herself, right? She would have nodded to herself and thought nothing more of it as she entered the room, her wings flapping silently, until she remembered who it was the class would be studying under.

Oh no, oh no, oh no! she mentally screamed, images of detention flashing before her eyes. She kept her mouth shut, however, simply allowing the fear and trauma of being stuck to sticky bathroom walls to reply over and over until a piece of candy was offered to her.

She would have refused but then again she wasn’t about to risk getting another detention by lack of participation. So she grabbed the candy, nearly forgetting to unwrap it, and popped it in her mouth. Waiting expectantly for some horrible and vile flavor to explode in her mouth.

Only it never came.

Huh. It was almost anticlimactic. Scratching her head, she realized slowly that the other students were doing all sorts of unusual activities like talking to themselves or chasing after things. No, wait, it was their shadows! She glanced down, and saw her own shadow was still there, staring up at her with its lack of distinguishing features, sans the visible lack of legs. It was only when it flipped its hair indignantly did Tess understand what the candies were supposed to do.

Her attention snapped towards their cruel and terrifying Head Mistress, hoping that she wouldn’t get another detention for being tardy while she listened to the explanation. Hesitantly, Maritess raised her hand to ask a question. Her shadow, on the other hand, seemed more inclined to a different activity.

Which was to glide on the ground towards the nearest shadow it could find and, oh Jack was its proboscis tongue trying to lick the other shadow?!?

Shadow!Tybalt was preparing to make a lunge towards the siren's shadow, when something clung to it's waist; dragging it down to the ground. Obviously not all that impressed either. Snapping and scratching at the floor in a futile attempt to free itself; it was probably quite pissed that it's plans of catching the other shadow was thwarted--much to Tybalt's amusement.

"Thought you could lose me didn't you?" He asked peering down at the miserable creature; which he swore was now glaring back at him. It would probably be cursing too--if it was capable of any speech at all.

Hmph! Too bad! It could stay like that for now. He was in no rush to help it out! Not after that chase!

Though now that he was closer, he noticed something about the other shadow. It was really tiny... Oh! It was Chuppi's shadow! Chuppi's shadow had caught his shadow!

"Good job Shadow!Chuppi!" He praised; waiting for it to let go.

It didn't.

"Umm... Wow... Good grip too. Err.. How do you suppose we separate them?" He asked the Chupacabra curiously. "It doesn't look like it has any intentions of letting go..."

On the bright side, at least it couldn't run away anymore. That was a relief. He did not want to have to go chasing it around the classroom any longer, not with a risk of detention. Down side was, it really wasn't letting go. How were they going to separate them? Was it even possible? He wasn't sure. Maybe Chuppi would have an idea?

He was about to ask her, when he caught more movement in the corner of his eye. Another shadow sneaking towards Shadow!Israfel. Funny thing was--he could have sworn he recognized the other one. It looked oddly familiar.

"Hey... Doesn't that shadow remind you of someone?" He asked; head tilted to the side.
