Magdalene's head jerked up as she heard Rhiket speak. Jumping to her feet, she raced over to the basket and poked her head over the wicker wall.
"'m right here, little brother. Shouldn't move until the nice lady says its okay too... "
Glancing up at the white female for permission, Magdalene carefully crawled back into the basket and curled up against Rhiket.

Akhetnnami shifted so she was sitting fully on the ground, arms wrapped around her knees. She kept the puffs of air moving in... out... in...
"I can only stay for a little while. Hopefully, this amount of assistance will help him out a little, and he'll be fine until Hanu comes home." She eyed the small girl. "M... Magdalene, correct? How do you like living with my brother?"

Magdalene glanced up and smiled.
"Only been here one day, but I like it! Master Hanu and Nari are nice and I have a brother here. Never had a brother before."
The little Uluen thoughtfully tapped a forepaw against the edge of the basket. Finally, she asked the question that was burnign in her mind.
"How you breathin' for Rhiket? I wanna know!"

"Magic. I can control air and create wind... so I can move air in and out of Rhiket's lungs for him. Makes it easier for him to get the air in, so he can relax.
"I'm very glad you're happy here. I hope my apprentice will turn out to be as nice as you." She arched a brow. "Somehow, though, I doubt that I'll be that fortunate."

Rhi was starting to relax a little. He was starting to be able to breathe again, and whatever paralyzed him in the first place was starting to yield to the presence of Maggie and the other. He considerably relaxed, his heart evening out and slowing down, his lungs able to take air in without strain.
He even went so far as to lick Ahketnnami's hand gently to thank her for helping him, as well as doing so verbally.
"'sank you Ms. A...Ah.... ..... Ms. 'nami."
He smiled, and licked again, before nuzzling his head against Magdalene's arm, then chest, happy to have his sister there.

Akhetnnami slowly stopped breathing for the boy as she became more and more confident that he could survive on his own. Her lips twitched, slightly, when he licked her hand.
"You're very welcome," she said, then stretched a little, tail moving. "I'd best be going, however. Council work. I'm sure Hanu will be home soon."
And with that, Akhetnnami rose and left, quietly, so that she wouldn't disturb Nari.

Magdalene purred a soft thanks as the big female left. She gave Rhiket a quick nuzzle and began chunnering quietly.
"She isn't very much like Master Hanu, is she? 'm glad she helped you though, that was scary. I hope Nari's okay, that nice lady didnt' seem worried though."
Then,adopting a sterner tone, she turned to Rhiket and began mothering him.
"You should sleep more. Nari said you needed lotsa rest. Yup yup. Anythin' hurtin'? Wanna eat or drink? I betcha I could find somethin' if you do."

Rhiket shook his head a bit, and curled into Maggie. He was content to just be there - there was nothing else he wanted. Though he DID seem to take her suggestion, as he slowly, slowly started to drift off to sleep curled against her.

Magdalene smiled to herself as she felt Rhiket relax beside her. Then, because it had been a rather exciting morning from her point of view, she slowed herself to sink into slumber.

A few hours later, a little past midday, Hanu tiptoed into the room. His wife was still sleeping, exhausted, and Hanu was going to let her recover for as long as she needed it. In fact, he'd even stopped by the Hospital to mention that she might not be in for a day or two more than planned (for the arrival of the one planned child). Sure, she was only volunteering, but...
Anyway - he tiptoed into the room, setting down two small bowls of warm, gently steaming, great-smelling soup. One bowl had a few more vegetables and even one or two bits of meat floating in it.
"Magdalene, Rhiket... wake up," he murmured, smiing and reaching out to stroke them both. They'd certainly seemed to take to each other rather quickly.

Magdalene twitched in her sleep and slowly crawled back into wakefulness. Blinking groggily, she tried to force her eyes into focus. After a few moments, she recognized the smiling face above her. Yawning hugely, she dredged up a ghost of a smile, still fretful that she'd messed up today.
"'lo, Master Hanu," she began in a soft whisper.

"Good afternoon," he whispered back, smiling. "I've brought the two of you lunch. How's Rhiket doing?"
Hanu had planned to follow Kanesakht's lead and go to the Market, but only if Rhiket was well. If he wasn't, it could wait.

Magdalene shrank into the basket slightly at that question. Still, she couldn't lie. Visibly steeling herself, she began to explain.
"He was doin' okay after Nari went to take a nap, then somethin' happnened and the pretty white lady who came to help said he was havin' trouble breathin' and she had to breathe for him. I tried to wake Nari up, but she wouldn't wake up and that's when I went an' screamed 'till the lady came. He's doin' better now, I think."
In a flash, she'd slithered carefully from the basket and began sniffing at the two bowls.
"Lunch smells yummy! Are you mad at me 'cause Rhiket had trouble, Master Hanu?" Magdalene looked up into his eyes.

"You could have done nothing to prevent it," he assured her, smiling and stroking her fur. "You did the right thing, running for help. Thank you."
Hanu thought for a moment. "Nari's asleep right now because healing Rhiket has made her very, very tired. It's no surprise that you couldn't wake her up. As for the other woman... white fur and blue scales? That would be my sister, Akhetnnami."

Magdalene purred softly as her fur was stroked. Then, looking from side ot side, she whispered conspiratorily to Hanu.
"I sorta bit Nari to try an' wake her up. Not hard, but I did use my teeth... 'm sorry."
She inched closer to the bowls of soup, nose twitching.
"Yes! She had white fur an' blue scales. She asked me what I thought 'bout you and Nari and said she hoped her 'prectice would be as nice as me. Am I nice?"
