Cais had taken off again, for Lunarian History this time, apparently; that was not where his trio was heading, so Amane didn't really have a chance for parting words. It would not really bother him, though he did enjoy completion whenever possible. It seemed like none of them would cry over Veryuu leaving them abruptly, which comforted Amane. For them, he would have put up with the boy. For no other reason would Amane feel sufficiently motivated to tolerate his company. He took a deep breath, his eyebrows furrowed. What about him had made him so disliked? In Amane's case, it was surely the way he had seemed to look down on his new friends, neither of which lacked virtues to appreciate them for. To Amane, Liu and Lien represented an open door: an invitation to follow, to get to know them, to be near. Veryuu represented a man on a balcony watching people on the street try to get in. In Amane's head, a whole silly scenario enacted itself while they walked.

It was true, the word "friends" had been... tricky to say; Amane would not say a thing unless it was true. Calling these boys "friends" felt true. To stick by them, and make it known, that was what Amane desired. He didn't feel like their superior, though he might come across as though he did. It wasn't that. He generally had trouble communicating with others because of his desire for calm, which made him appear haughty or demeaning. It was never what he sought to convey. He thought of Lien and Liu like his equals, though he was sure that all three of them would have strengths and weaknesses which made them different. They would, in Amane's heart, begin on even playing fields, and he would take into account the skills which made them unique. For example, he wasn't the best at cooking, one of the other two would probably show him a thing or two. He, however, excelled at grace in dancing and combat. Not always power, but grace. Despite their differences, Amane wanted to ensure they were all cared for.

Speaking of caring for others, where had Toshiro gotten to? Amane took a seat with Lien and Liu in class, "I wonder if Toshiro's here somewhere, and I just can't see him?..." Amane mumbled. The idea of not noticing Toshiro amused him, but he hadn't spotted the boy, yet. He got up briefly and went to the cabinets where he'd seen students remove a couple things already, and took out what appeared to be a set of recipes. They didn't have anyone's name on them, so Amane resolved to borrow them; there were stacks of the same cards, he figured they were class resources. He brought them back to his seat with Liu and Lien and started to shuffle through them, offering the other two a view. When he was bored of that, he put them down, if the others wanted to have a look. He hoped they would begin doing something, soon, even if today was just an introductory class.

The moment he entered the room, Toshiro found himself frozen, but only for a brief moment, inhaling and then exhaling softly. Coming from the hallway, filled with the scents of bodies and leftover breakfast and then coming into a classroom meant fpr the purpose of cooking held a significant difference in the change of not only scent, but comfort and air. It was almost nostalgic, the feeling he had as walked immediately over to the counters, only to find slightly cooling cooking equipment. A frown found it's way onto his face as he moved his hand to his head and then through his hair. "Taunting one by leaving recently used equipment that's still sending off heat waves is almost the same as if asking to trouble. We'll meet again." he said as he stared at the piece of inanimate equipment.

Turning, and with yet another sigh, he slowly moved towards the back of the room. He hadn't felt like sitting just yet, especially since that group from before hadn't come into the class room just yet. "Just what is taking them so long.." he thought to himself, turning his head to the right, staring at a row of cabinets. "hmm...i guess it's never too early to know what I'm getting myself into..." he whispered as he opened one of the cabinets and looked into it. He didn't pull anything out, just gazed at the equipment and even skimmed over anything that had something written on it. After a few minutes, he closed the cabinet he had been going through and walked back to the wall he had been standing by just before curiosity had dragged him over to nearby cabinets just seconds earlier.

Conveniently, the cabinet had also hidden his face...well, anything above the first quarter of his torso. He leaned back, letting out a breath as he stared forward. The class had gotten bigger since he'd come in, telling by the number of empty seats left. He didn't want to be stuck in the seat closest in the front, so he moved forward, grabbing a seat somewhat nearby a seemingly quiet fellow. From the back, he seemed like a decent space buddy. He wasn't necessarily turned towards anyone, though he was apparently sitting with two others. Toshiro let out another breath, a relaxed look on his face as he cleared his throat, the sound of someone mumbling words. He wasn't trying to ease-drop or anything, but heard it either way, chuckling somewhat as he relaxed his hands behind his head, leaning back in his chair. "I'm totally the better Toshiro around here..." he said, unaware that he didn't just say the line in his head, a yawn escaping him. "I should challenge this other Toshiro to a duel...winner takes all....the other gets kicked from the school!" he said, nodding to himself as he smiled softly and turned his head to the fellow that had spoken of this...'Toshiro'.

"Right?' he asked as he turned in the direction Amane and his buddies Lien and Liu were sitting. He froze, staring at them for a moment, before attempting to rush forward, his chair slipping under him, ultimately leading to him falling back in his chair, his head hitting the floor. With gritted teeth, he put his right head behind his head, against the spot where it hurt the most and slowly sat up. "I'm okay!" he said rather quickly as he rubbed the back of his now aching noggin.

The look on Dai's face changed very subtly but inside his chest his heart started to hammer out at the voice that responded to him. But despite this small victory he was too late, the crowd had shifted and the tight group started to move away. He shook his head, disappointed once again.

The young teen walked towards that same small group with that one person who had acknowledged him earlier. With swift steps he arrived in a classroom with the rows of students chatting away as he took his seat shyly at the far back. This was a cooking class, something Dai would normally be annoyed about but he kept his disdain inside as always and sat properly in the chair, hands politely on his lap.

The light-haired boy turned his head, looking around the room as even more strangers entered, chatting and laughing with friends. He felt a tinge of envy. And on his expressionless face his eyebrows knit slightly. His light eyes then wandered over to the stranger who was with his other companions and speaking in whispers. For a brief second when the other boy stood up, Dai caught his eyes and nodded. Maybe it was his imagination though, but he still felt a surge of nervousness in his body. He slapped himself mentally.

This wasn't the time to be timid! He stood up from his chair almost immediately after thinking this and as if body moved on it's own he walked towards the trio of friends, bowing his head and opening his mouth. "Hello, sorry about earlier.", pretty much directed to the one that had noticed him much earlier amid the confusion.

Satisfied, he walked back to his seat with a trace of a smile appearing on his face.

((bpyan- The three of them are in the cooking classroom, assuming you mean Amane and company. biggrin ))

Lien nodded at Amane when he spoke of Toshiro. "A strange boy," he offered bluntly. The constantly shouting boy seemed to have plenty bubbling under the surface. He was the only person that Lien had met so far who didn't immediately remind Lien of a family member, and considering that most of Lien's social interactions up until he moved to the city had consisted of family members, that made Toshiro stand out to him. Now that Amane brought him up again though, Lien scanned the room for the boy. He was concerned for him, after all, he hadn't been able to help him earlier. If Toshiro had at least managed to find his way into the classroom, then Lien could at least feel a little better about not being able to do anything about whatever it had been that Toshiro needed.

"I found him," he stated bluntly after Toshiro's chair hit the floor. Getting up to help, Lien attempted to move the other boy's hand to take a look. With his other hand, he held up two fingers and said "How many do you see?" Toshiro seemed to have hurt nothing but his pride, but Toshiro always seemed so nervous that Lien couldn't help but feel like he needed to doublecheck. At least he could make sure his head wasn't bleeding or anything.

As he was checking Toshiro, he heard a new voice back with the group, so he turned his head to look. Some other new face talking to Amane. Lien figured it wasn't his business, so he turned back to Toshiro. "You can join us if you want," he decided. He wasn't sure if they were allowed to have cooking partners, but he remembered how much more at ease he was after he met Amane. Maybe Toshiro would relax a little if he was in a group, too.

Liu managed to settle into the cooking room rather nicely - it was a cozy room, and whoever had decorated had decorated with taste. Seeing Amane walk towards the cupboard (really, how did this boy look like he knew so much when he wasn't supposed to ...) and bring them back some recipe books, Liu yawned and nodded lightly, his eyes skimming across the words. Personally, he'd never really used books to teach him how to cook things - you had to have someone teach you with their hands before you really understood. That was exceptionally important in so many ways. He wondered vaguely whether or not Amane and Liu were cooking people. If they weren't, he'd be glad to teach them~

"Yes, he does seem to be missing ..." Liu mused, before hearing a crash behind them and turning back instinctively. Really, Liu should have known! Who else in the class (well, except him) would have crashed to the floor from their chair and then jumped back up? Only Toshiro, of course.

"Hello there~" He grinned, and knelt down next to the boy, next to Liu. Toshiro reminded him of his mother, surprisingly. Absent-minded to the tenth degree, much too happy, and with a pride the size of a lion's. That somehow made Liu feel more attached to the boy - he was just someone you seemed to be attracted to, and Liu supposed that was probably because of his exuberant personality.

He barely turned around to greet the new voice - not because he was mean, persay - but just by the fact that his voice had been to small, and Liu had been distracted by the louder boy, Toshiro.

The shadow of a smile remained plain on softly glossed lips. Pleased that her kind deed had not gone unappreciated. Further pleased by the character now standing before her. Veryuu was a charmingly polite young man, and it was extremely refreshing to hear another's thoughts delivered so articulately. Idly, she considered an old saying she'd read in more then one of the books lining her vast shelves. Like calls to like. She'd begun to doubt the likely hood of such a notion, but evidence of confirmation stood right in front of her.

"Shin-Mu is fine, or even just Shin if it's more to your liking." The compliment to her name had her standing a little straighter, dark hands slipping along the line of her silk skirt to smooth the pale material over the line of her thighs. She was always adjusting some part of her attire. Habitual behavior spawned from the incessant need to be neat and tidy. "It is a pleasure to make your acquaintance, Veryuu." A gentle dip of her chin, sweep of her shoulders was offered as a respectful nod.

"As much, I'm sure, as natural instincts within hand to hand combat intrigues me." She was no warrior, and never would be. Physically, she wasn't suited for the hardness of close combat. She was far to fair of body, willowy and elegant, but not mad to wield the deadly tools of battle. She did practice the art of sword dancing though, and supposed it did give her a slight advantage over her fellow conduits. Her movements with a blade were fluid, but a mock duel with an invisible opponent was just not the same.

She gave a gentle nod to his question, smiling again. This time in pride. the ancestor her family prayed to had been a great dead soul priest, and every third generation since could boost of the rare powers. "Since my earliest memories the spirits of the dead have whispered in my ears. I can commune with spiritual realm, and direct my soul magic through a focus." She paused, thinking for a brief moment. "It is hard to describe, as it comes natural to me. I can feel spirits around me, and through my dizi I weave spells that effect the mind."

(Sorry guys, I think I confused some things up there. >___>;; My bad.)

Leaving the groups behind he made his way diligently. Approaching the building where his History studies always took place Cais immediately noticed a change to the front door. Several students were crowded around it and as he approached he immediately frowned. Reading aloud to himself he read the sign, "Due to unforeseen circumstances Lunarian History has been canceled. Regular studies will resume tomorrow. Please report to the room assigned below..." He stopped reading and searched for his name. He found it quickly and groaned again. Cooking? Cais's studies had never included cooking. He understood it was merely a way to control the overflow of students, but he felt there was still a twinge of karma at work, though he was unsure of what he had done to warrant it.

Turning back the way he came he began to walk in slow pace until stopping in the doorway of the cooking class. Peering inside he noticed the group of students he had previously encountered sitting together in a clump. They seemed well-mannered enough, even more so than himself it seemed. Swiftly he took a seat near them, though kept his eyes darting around the room. This was a foreign place to him. He could only compare it to watching his mother in the kitchen, but he was often shooed away by his sister as she saw it to be "meddling."

An entirely different ordeal was waiting for him here, even if it was just a single day attending the lesson. Glancing back at the group he wondered if they felt the same alienation to cooking as he did. Realizing he was staring he moved back in his seat and averted his gaze. The entire procedure was was foreign to him, it was like he was back in his own first day where he had felt the same gnawing emotion of alienation build inside him.

((OTL I'm sorry if the placement of this is weird, or such... trying to catch up on everything that went on since my last post = 3= don't know how I let myself get so behind in both D:
It was difficult for Amane not to burst into laughter. Well, not entirely difficult; the sentiment was there, overbearing, but he locked it into himself. It tickled, at best, trying to escape. Toshiro was one giant reel of ridiculous gestures and speech. Amane found it hard to believe that they were both Lunarians, given the massive differences between them. "Ah... Toshiro. I am glad you're okay, though perhaps you should be more careful in the future?" Amane offered, clearing his throat and offering Toshiro one of the spare seats with a vague gesture, supporting Lien's previous verbal offer. "Are you sure you're alright, though? You seem to be nursing that one spot." Amane tilted his head, regarded Toshiro with a blank expression.

He hadn't had much time to respond to Lien, in the wake of Toshiro's antics. It was true, though; Toshiro was a little odd. Amane wasn't friendly, per se, but he wouldn't turn down those who didn't have a group of their own. Lien and Liu, because they were the first ones he had approached and offered his friendship to, were separate from the others in his mind, but he still tried to be polite and patient with the others. It wasn't that he disliked them, merely that he found it difficult to interact with several people at once. The Academy was definitely going to be trying on his inner calm.

Amane was pleased when Dai walked back up to him, though he still did not know the boy's name. He waved to him, since the boy had retreated rather quickly. Amane's eyebrows rose, and he attempted to indicate that Dai was welcome to come over and participate with them should he want.

Cais entered the room, which surprised Amane, and took a seat near to their group. "Cais," Amane addressed him, though he wasn't sure the boy would hear him, "I thought you had mentioned you had a different class? It is nice to see another familiar face here, regardless." Amane nodded at Cais. He seemed more familiar with the academy, which was reassuring.

ooc/ hopefully i didn't mess up anything here... Dx

A yawn made it's way past Isayu's thin lips as he first started up the stairs that would lead him to his new home and school for the next few years. The building standing before him was intimidating to say the least, rising up to such a height that caused a darkened shadow to fall across the many Lunarians' trekking up and down the winding pathways. The Academy was even enough of a sight to cause Isayu's step to falter when he actually saw the length of it. One hand slid up his body, tugging gently on a strand of silvery hair - working to push the intimidation out of his mind as he continued to walk forward. It didn't matter how big the building was... not really. It was the people he had to get on his side which, in the end, shouldn't be that much of a problem. Isayu had always been a fairly friendly person. He'd grown up with four younger siblings, giving him the patience he needed to socialize with even the most annoying Lunarian. The only problem was, Isayu was very particular and... so far... he hadn't seen anyone too interesting. Then again, the boy hadn't even stepped past the large academy doors yet.

The seventeen year old calmed his whirring brain, stepping past the threshhold and into what he thought of as his new home of sorts. A quick silver-eyed glance showed him that the Academy was just as elgant-looking as it was on the exterior. The bell rang and Isayu jumped as the entire hall began to fill with quickly-moving students. He tugged at a strand of his hair, pulling a small piece of scribbled-on paper out of one of his many hidden pockets and deciphered what was his first class. "... cooking." Lips pursed at the over-all boredness of it all. He was here to become a Fighter and, yet... he had a cooking class? Isayu shook his head at the absurd thought, making his way down the many halls that weaved their way throughout the Academy. It didn't take long too find the classroom, despite the overall largeness that was the Academy. A few turns here, a few turns there and bam! Isayu was staring at the door with a bored gaze. He leaned forward, looking through the small rectangular square of glass that lined the door, noticing that there were only a few seats open. He tugged at a strand of his hair before finally entering the classroom, looking around with a plain smile. "Sorry, I appear to be late..."

A swift nod from the professor up front dismissed Isayu's mistake and he slowly slid into a space next to a rather friendly-looking group. The plain smile widened so that he seemed a bit more friendly. "Hello." He greeted, nodding his head in a sort-of bow. "My name's Makami Isayu." He said, using the family name first as he had been taught so many times it was practically chiseled into his brain. "I'll be your classmate today and probably for the rest of the year..." A laugh trickled from his lips as he looked over the small group, leaning back into his seat as he waited for introductions.

Late. He was so late that he was sure he’d be set on fire for such a horrible transgression. If it hadn’t of been for Bai Hu pestering the geese, again, Xiu was sure he would have made it too the class room with plenty of time to spare. As it was, he’d had to pry Bai Hu away from mauling more geese, spending at least twenty minutes trying to explain to the tiger that no, the geese were not snacks for baby cubs. He’d ended up tying her to the cherry tree out back.

Now, he was just running his pants off, hoping to beat the teacher at least. After making it to the correct school building just inside of town, Xiu skidded down two different hallways, clipping his body in the process as he tried not to careen out of control. In a last bout of nervous energy, Xiu spotted the correct door and sprinted for it. Without thinking, he slammed the thing open.

Panting and utterly out of breath, Xiu just stood there for a moment as he tried to regain himself, face red and golden hair escaping from the confines of his hair tie. After a quick, flickering look about the room, he immediately calmed. The teacher was not yet in and students were still chattering away. Heck, it seemed a student had entered just before him.

S’cuse me.” Xiu sidled around the student, careful not to touch as he made his way further into the room. He moved with purpose to an empty seat, ignoring the person sprawled on the floor. He’d get to introductions later. Right now, he just need to calm down and fix his hair, which he did with a deft flick of his wrist, his hair properly coifed once more.

With an obvious show of trying to be calm, Xiu sat down, though it was apparent he was caught between wanting to slam his face onto the table top in embarrassment and stare at the boys on the floor. He saw the chair and automatically assumed one of them had fallen out of it.

As it got closer to class time, the steady progression of arriving students began to ebb. However, there were still a few stragglers, and while Lien was checking Toshiro, one nearly stepped on him.

Whoever it was, they looked to be recovering from some considerable panic. Fairly sure that Toshiro was doing fine now, Lien got up and nodded at the Makami Isayu boy, offering a brief "Nguyen Lien." Makami's joke about the rest of the year flew neatly over Lien's head, and he blinked, adding, "Yes, probably," somewhat perplexedly.

Deciding that Makami was also a bit peculiar, he headed over to the other late boy, because so long as the group was already taking in all these other members, he was beginning to feel more adoptive again. Looking back at the other ducklings in his peculiar flock, he headed to the boy who had nearly stepped on him and sat down next to him. This boy was one of the very few boys so far today who hadn't introduced themselves to Lien or had an accident in his general vicinity, and thus, Lien was stuck on how to properly offer for him to come sit with the rest of them. He wasn't good at starting conversations, and Amane and the others who were better at it hadn't noticed the new boy yet.

Lien gave it a shot anyway. "Your hair is good," he offered, remembering that his older sister had told him that women loved compliments and assuming that the same could probably apply to men. "You can sit with us, too."

Lien's best efforts at conversation fell short of plenty of peoples' worst efforts at conversation, and he had no idea.

Xiu was so busy pretending that no one else around him existed by this point, that he didn’t realize someone was coming over. The voice to his right surprised him and he found himself blurting easily, “Oh, thanks. I really can’t do anything with it in this humidity. I--” Xiu abruptly cut himself off, even as he fingered his hair, realizing that he sounded like some silly teenage girl. “I mean uh,” he surreptitiously lowered his voice to sound more manly, “yeah.”

The conversation was headed down a one way street to nowhere and Xiu knew it. He felt like an idiot. How was he supposed to talk to someone he didn’t know who was under the age of forty? Feeling distinctly awkward, Xiu tried to a smile at the stranger, the expression make his face more friendly looking.

“What I really mean to say is, thank you.” Xiu replied, finally having shaken of his stupidity though he was still flushing pink. “I would be honored to join you. My name is Shi Xiu.” He held out his hand in greeting, leaving off the name of his house. How could a person living in a temple have a house name? It was something he was going to have to ask about.

Lien nodded as Xiu chatted, long used to listening about the condition of other peoples' hair from his older sister and her friends. He had picked up more than most boys generally knew about haircare from listening to them, and he couldn't have stopped himself for a million families when he offered, "Have you tried fanning yourself a lot? My sister says it helps to keep her hair cool in the heat." He wasn't sure about the validity of plenty of his sister's beauty tips, having never tried them himself, but he knew that she thought they were true.

However, the other boy had already cut off, and not only had he become quieter, his voice had inexplicably lowered. Thinking that maybe it was a custom that he should be imitating, Lien lowered his voice too, and stated "My name is Nguyen Lien." Considering that Lien's voice was already somewhat deep, his new tone bordered on the absurd. "Let's go to the group."

Walking back with his newest adoptee in tow, Lien sat next to Amane and Liu again and moved over so Xiu had room to pull up a chair, too. "This is Shi Xiu," he told the other two of the original trio simply, his voice back at its normal pitch.

(( sorry about not responding xnx RL is killing me ;; I hope i got everything xD; ))

He hadn't expected it, not in the least. His first day, and in just the few short hours or maybe minutes? Half hour? Whatever! But in the short amount of time he had been there, he had lost his game plan. It fell to shambles, crushed by the very emotions and reactions he had sought to control. He just couldn't keep them under wraps! How fickle they were. But he didn't have the time, nor the patience to read think about it, his head throbbing from hitting the floor. No matter how much you trained yourself, a blow to the back of the head will hurt. But more importantly, was the reaction received by the group he had seen out in the hallway.

The first to react apparently just watched him hit the floor, commenting that he had 'found him'. He flinched after sitting up, rubbing the back of his head. "How can I be found? I was in here before them after all..." he thought, letting out a soft breath when he spoke. "Join..you?" he asked, an eyebrow raised as he looked at the boy. He blinked once, gritting his teeth as he felt a slight jolt of pain, keeping his right eye closed as he looked back up at Lien. "Did I catch your....name?" he uttered just before another voice greeted him from up high. "Hey..." he whispered, looking to Liu now. Really. At this rate, he'd need to split into two people to keep up! And not even a second after the thought passed did a third voice ring into his ear. Did he really attract all that attention? Anyone could fall out of a chair!...right?

The difference this time, was that it was the one he was most familiar with in the little group. Well, as familiar as he could be since he just met the guy. Amane.[.b] "Yeah....thats his name.." he thought to himself as he slowly found his way to his feet, dusting his clothes though there wasn't any on them. Force of Habit. He grinned as he took in the words the Lunarian Amane had offered him. Bringing his hand to his face, lifting his index finger and placed it against the tip of his chin, curled as if he was thinking about it. He nodded. "I Like. I shall take this advice!" he said proudly, his right hand in a fist as he nodded his head up and down slowly. It was as if he was making an announcement, though it was meant to be more for himself then anyone else, looking towards the male he had been interacting with as he indicated a seat closer to his group.

"He wants me to sit near him? There has to be more to it then that.." he whispered, just low enough for him to hear himself, and possibly no one else. Nodding once more, he walked over, and took occupancy of one of the seats. The moment he did however, he took a deep breath, holding it as he looked down to his lap, his hands resting on his leg as if he was frozen. He hadn't given it much thought, and was a little embarrassed now that he took the seat. "So...many...people...." he thought as he swallowed hard, closing his eyes tight. "Just think of it as training...training..." he thought as he breathed slowly. "Training....training.." he whispered as he opened his eyes slowly, nearly jumping and looking over to Amane as he whispered a different student's name.

Sitting back in his seat, he let out a breath, laying lazily and possibly sloppy in appearance. "Its too much work trying to be caaaalllmmmmm.." he whispered seemingly to the ceiling, wincing as he rubbed the back of his head again. "I'm alright. I'm alright..." he said laying one of his hands over his forehead as he looked up and stared at the ceiling.

(( @_@; Work is such a time-sucker.
Taking a sort of personal satisfaction in the way that this encounter was so obviously met with approval by his companion, it proved that whilst Veryuu was ever drawn in an almost masochistic fashion to the irritating and overly enthusiastic creatures in nature, he could certainly pass enjoyment in a mutual sort of fashion, with the rare being not unlike himself. This was the first time, he mused privately as their expressions mirrored one another, that he'd actually met an individual that was possessed of similar inclinations. All told, it was refreshing in a near-giddy sort of manner, and he had to remind himself that it would be best not to take leave of one's composure or senses about such a discovery, as they were still in the chokehold that was the public setting. Not that he'd been in any great danger of that to begin with.

Considering her offerance of a much shorter version of the flowing name, something in his facial features shifted, his own silent approval. "Then, if you harbor no issue with such, I will refer to you as Shin from now on..." There was a brief redirection of his gaze for a moment as she fussed and fidgeted, presenting a behavior that he himself often exuded in situations he considered a bit more pressing and far more annoying. Good gods...it really could be a horrifically small world at times. Ahem. He had to reprimand himself as just for a moment, his eyes took a flight of fancy across her frame, a privilege that he had not allowed himself before, and that the frosty teen instantly reprimanded his instincts for (not that it had really been noticeable, mind, he simply had imposed rather rigid restrictions upon himself as to those thoughts he could or could not house). "...as I daresay I hope this won't be our last encounter."

Frowning slightly, still giving himself a piece of his mind for even the illusion of an uncouth tendency (as it had not really been so, but a slip of the mind in the way some people blunder with their tongues), he brought himself quite irritably to the conversation at hand. At least educated banter would transport him swiftly back to the realm of the sane and well-cultured, "The thought had not honestly occurred to me." He admitted almost bashfully, "The art of a sword always seemed a very pleasant, but certainly never mysterious past-time." Though for those that did not know the rhythms, the form, the subtle signals within the harrowing dance of combat, Veryuu could at least make an uneducated guess as to where they were coming from. And that this lovely lass at his side should be curious about it certainly afforded a blissful opportunity wherein to know her better.

As she got to the core of the matter, he could almost see her swell with confidence, taking on a subject with which she was not only familiar, but in fact quite clearly defined so much of her being. The thought brought a smile to his lips, wistful. For whilst he might be characterized as a fighter, it was simply one small facet of a whole...here at the Academy, he was struggling to make that his drive and focus, to become that ideal that he strove for as a warrior. A paltry replacement for all the things he'd had to relinquish, and more painful yet, that which had been pried from his fingers, an ache still remaining, seething within him and threatening to rise up and choke him without so much as a warning. And a duty shoved upon him until he took the idea unto himself, a means of escape by way of seizing hold of new purpose. He envied her, in a way, for with her pride came a certain joy. "A rare gifting." He commented, his voice sinking down to a thoughtful whisper, venturing into more dismal thoughts. "I daresay that I am rather content with my lot...for to commune with the spirits so, I can only imagine it would be somewhat grating and maddening at times." But for her it was natural, like breathing, a responsibility thrust upon her by fate and family.

Then again, perhaps it wasn't so different after all.
