Jin grinned like a mad man to himself as he stood at the entrance of the maze. It was really the day! Today was the day he was going to take the next step to being the greatest shinobi the world had ever laid their eyes on! And not a damn thing was going to stop him. Nothing!

For a moment he hesistated and looked down at his uniform. He had modified the clothes given to him. The white scarf was wrapped around his left fist and forearm, beneath his normal blue gloves. The flak jacket was stiched to the shirt he normally wore, the straps easily visible as they hung lifelessly below the jacket. Rips had been purposely made along the legs and the head band was left home since he already had an original that he had stiched to the chest of his shirt.

Strapped to Jin's back as usual was his precious Tonbogiri. The handle to the point had been repolished and sharpened for a more deadly accuracy and beautiful sheen. Upon Jin's right arm was the old arm guard of Washi's that he had stolen. However it had been remodeled and resized so to fit and help Jin more suitably. All the excess energy had been condensed for a better generator. And finally, two new parcels had been added to Jin's equipment. Hanging from his belt was a uniquely designed mask that was hidden by the body of his jacket. Also there was a black orb that was tied right next to it, green lines sketched across it's surface to look like a grid.

"Alright. Ready or not, here Jin comes." Jin whispered to himself. It took a lot of restraint not to make an outburst or jump out obnoxiously but he knew it would be stupid to do so. He was definitely one of the later entrances in to the exam and the likelihood of someone waiting around the entrances to ambush people and help friends was high. That, Jin was certain, he was not going to fall victim to. Especially not when Sora was no where around. At least with Sora, Jin knew the only person he needed to watch his back from was Sora himself.

Curling his arm back so his hand was resting on his spear for easy access, Jin quickly ran into the maze. Keeping his body low to avoid detection, Jin kept his hand grazing against the walls of the maze almost like a security percaution. He had a long way to go and hopefully he would be able to clear it faster and before everyone.

Yua decided she was wasting to much time examining the space between the roof and the wall and started moving again, besides jumping over the wall would be cheating and although ninja played dirty Yua was not one to cheat at a test. She kept going much more quickly now she figured she was wasting far to much time simply standing about and taking rests. Yua stepped around a corner and looked around this area seemed different the roof was getting wider and the way the wall was, she must have been close to the center but she couldn’t figure out how to get there exactly from here it would take a lot more maneuvering to get around all the walls, and she still didn’t trust the space between the walls and roof. Yua sighed as she kept moving Carefully around the Maze she hopped the center was the end of her troubles from this section and that there was an exit or something in there if it wasn’t she was going to be very annoyed at this entire test. Yua sighed again as she kept moving thinking of her team mates, she wished she could have had more time she tried her best to hang around Katsuko during the few days on the ship that she had the time but she really wished there had been more time. Yua smirked at the thought of celebration after all of this was over especially if all the mist ninja past, she at least hoped there would be a celebration the way Sorain was training them the most likely would not be. She was not looking forward to getting back to training but hopefully next time would be different and he would actually teach them something.

After a short while, Jin slowed down his pace to take a look around at his current location. Grinding his teeth in an annoyed fashion, Jin turned his eyes upwards at the walls. The task would be easy as hell if he could just climb over the damn walls. How perfect, actually! From there he would have a birds eye view of the entire maze. Jin would know everyone's location and even find Sora and possibly sabotage the little p***k. At this moment, Jin couldn't help but chuckle a little bit to himself. But he quickly stopped as he noticed that there were some tags placed in the middle of the walls. With a frown forming over his face, he leaned in to better inspect them.

’I shall fight to honor the name of Kaiten, the name of my father…

Erkamina looked around and noticed her 'mark' all over the place. She had gone backwards, just as she feared. Worse, she was tired from running around in circles, literally. She popped her knuckles and sighed heavily, not noticing a single path without her mark, excluding the one she'd just come from. She had went so far out of her way just to prove herself that she ended up setting herself back too far to even see the trees, much less the forest- so to speak. She had seen the center before, she was sure of it, but now she was probably towards the edge again. Perhaps she should just double back and try another path. So she did, turning around and walking back towards where she had come from. Maybe she had to do that all along, turn around that is. Maybe she chose the wrong path before when she chose to turn the way she had. Maybe she just needed to basically start over. She resolved that this spot would be her start place for the moment. She put the Kanji 'begin' on the ground beneath her feet and continued to move towards where she had once been, hoping she perhaps missed a path before when she was running like mad. Now that she was moving at a slower speed she may be able to find paths easier and thus ensure that she made some progress towards the goal of the center. After all sometimes progress came from going backwards. She felt that she was going the right way at least so that was a good sign, right? But then again she'd thought that before, when she had that false path taking her in circles. But now she had a fresh start and was more apt to try any new path she'd found just to see where it would lead. She found off-shoots that had her symbol on them so she ignored them, continuing towards the ones that didn't hoping that they held her chance at victory. After all, life was a gamble- especially in the Bloody Mist. You were lucky if you woke up the next morning some days, especially when there was war or attacks going on within the village. Life was not at all easy as a shinobi and she accepted this, even relished it. She wanted a challenge and this hated bane of a maze was her current foe. She had her pride and it wouldn't allow her to lose. She smirked at the thought of pride, would her mother be proud of her now? What she had become was something she personally set her mind to a few months ago but would any one else be 'proud' to have a shinobi as a daughter? She wondered this as she wandered the corridors of maze, trying to find a new path to walk and also trying to find the reason behind her means. She took everything at face-value, black and white, and it was so hard to see the large expanse of gray what-ifs in-between. Her life was like this maze and she thought she knew the goal but perhaps she was truly lost in life just as much as she was in the maze itself. She may have been wrong all along, she figured, about everything. Maybe even her reasons that led her to this maze. But even without all those reasons, she still had pride and that was something. And right now, it this place, it was everything- it was all she had. Her ego was the only thing stopping her from just walking away. She had to succeed, she had no choice in the manner. She wanted so badly to prove herself that sometimes she didn't see how exactly to get to where she wanted to be. Perhaps that was her problem all along. She wanted to do things the hard way but perhaps the easiest way would be to do it the right way. If that made any sense she would have understood it but she was too busy studying the walls, searching for a place that didn't bear her mark. Some simple sign in the screwed up world to let her know that she was on the right track.

… Soon I will show the world the worth of that name.’

Katsuko had finally arrived to the Exams area. She had gotten distracted while on the ship everyone had arrived on and thus was a tad later than everyone else. Quickly running up to the entrance in which she was directed she noticed tags all along the walls. As she stared her pupils disappeared and the light violet of her eyes paled to a near white. Soon following veins protruded from the area around her eyes intensifying her range of vision. The Byakugan. As she looked through the structure she realized it was a large maze. "O joy.." she grumbled with so much anti-enthusiasm. Luckily the Byakugan not only gave her a field of vision three-hundred and sixty degrees around her but she could see father into the distance straight through things.

As she entered the maze she paused to take a look around. She had every intention to use her enhanced sight to its full potential in this little test. She was NOT gonna let Vyrin think she hadnt trained for the exams. She wasnt just gonna prove she trained. She had every intention of acing the exams to show she wasnt an embarrassment. Though as she thought about it. She recalled hearing that her mother had failed the Chunin Exams not just once but twice. She had never heard the story about how a genin like her mom wound up with someone like her father but she could only hope it was really romantic. Considering who her father was it was almost certain to have been just that. Maybe even overly romantic. At least thats what Katsuko hoped.

As she was day dreaming about how her mother and father could have met she suddenly was snapped back to reality via becoming more friendly with one of the labyrinths walls. "Yea...take that wall...showed you" she grumbled in embarrassment as she peeled herself from the wall and giving it a small kick at its base for revenge. She then took a look around before getting herself in what she believed to be the right direction. As she walked she began to wonder about the others that had entered the exams. Mainly about the girl that had saved her from her failed attempt at catapulting. Itd be awkward if she had to fight the person that saved her. But if it came down to it shed probably still enjoy the fight just as much as any other.

Speaking of fighting this was the next thing that popped into her mind. When was she gonna get to fight somebody? She had never got to scratch the itch the battle bug gave her and a habit of hers wouldnt let her finger move from her gunblades trigger. Considering they let all of the participants enter in different areas she figured there wouldnt be much fighting if at all at this stage of the exams. From what she heard it was a sort of trend to not have any real fighting in the first round. She figured it was to give the healers or weaker shinobi somewhat of a chance at passing. But even still the later rounds would surely weed out the weak ones who were not yet ready to advance to the next totem of the pole of ranks.

Eventually her energetic run was reduced to a lazy stroll. Katsuko was growing increasingly bored. After all a maze was just that. A maze. Full of twists turns more twists more turns even more twists even more turns and god knows how many walls. And it all looked exactly the same. The only way it could have been more boring for her is if it had been a pretty much straight shot. Eventually she even began lightly scraping her head against the walls as she walked tapping the flyer goggles she wore over her forehead. A small wind like hollow sound resonated slightly from the gas mask around her neck as air passed through its filters. The gunblade she held in her hand with her finger still near its trigger was the only thing around her that remained silent. Ironically it was the one thing she wish she could make some noise with. She understood the size of the maze was meant to fit the number of people participating but they didnt have to make it THIS big. Even with her partial Hyuuga bloodline given eyes she didnt think she'd ever find the end of this blasted place.

Yua sighed as she seemed to be going in circles for the first time since entering this place she huffed a bit as she saw one of her marks on the ground and sighed loudly then hefted the scroll up higher onto her back and kept moving she was thinking of home and what her parents would think of her becoming a chunin, but then they would also grip at her for not meeting a nice boy yet, Yua sighed at the thought of them griping about her love life, it wasn’t that she didn’t like boys, it was just that she preferred women, they where always more fun, and usually much sweeter. Yua blushed at the thoughts running through her head there where quiet a few attractive women in Mist village. Yua was getting to the age when dating was more serious than it was before, usually people where dating the person they would marry by her age, the main reason her parents gripped at her so much they wanted grandchildren, but if Yua found herself with another women well their dream of grandchildren would go down the drain. Yua shook her head and tried to refocus. But imagines of her future where running through her head things she would have to tell her parents at some point, and she wondered if she would end up with a man or a woman. Yua truly wondered what she was going to do with her love life or lack of one at this point. Yua sighed she needed to straighten out so many things in her life she was glad that she had at least graduated the academy and gotten that out of the way, and now she had decided what kind of ninja she wanted to be, plus being trained by the Mizukage would assure her having a bright future in the ninja world. Also she had a nice home now although it was rather large for her, she still enjoyed having her own place with in Mist Village. Yua stopped and noticed another one of her symbols on the ground and huffed a bit as she turned and went right at this junction instead of left she was now heading down a new way that she had not been before, she hoped that she would not run into a dead end again, she moved as quickly as she possibly could, she heard more and more people moving, which made her more nervous it seemed like a fight could happen at any moment with this many people near the center she was sure there must be something in the center that they where supposed to do. Yua was not excited now to get into the center because if everyone was there, she was sure she would have to fight, and she did not want to deal with that. Yua quickly moved through the maze because if they where right outside the center then she could hopefully get in and not deal with it.

Hatsuma felt something, the walls became rougher and the passages became a bit narrower, perhaps she was finally getting somewhere, this was a good thing. “Finally some progress…” she commented calmly making note of this passage well, going back wouldn’t be something she wanted to do after the amount of time she had been here. Of course this task was a bit easier on the mind then arriving the first day of the academy. ‘ Hatsuma walked into the room at this time she was eleven and her hair had grown out quite a bit, she learned what she could from the nomads and was sent on her important mission. “Alright class I’d like to introduce a new student to you all, Kidomaru Hatsuma, her multiple arms are a result of her bloodline and I will not have anyone judging her and using cruel terms… that said Hatsuma you may be seated.” The teacher introduced her to the class in a rather odd manner but then proceeded to lecture about chakra flow. Hatsuma made her way to an empty seat and sat down paying attention to the teachers words though she had already learned this information early on back in the village from Ijin.
“hey… new kid… What’s it like having four arms? Is it weird?” A student in an adjacent seat leaned over and whispered at Hatsuma who looked back to him to respond. The she didn’t whisper her response and said it in a tone flatter then the teachers lecture.
“It’s the same as you having two arms, if you take arms as being weird then that is your choice…” She said bluntly which caught the teachers attention and he quickly made his way to the boy who was still leaning over.
“Come on now you need to pay attention in class and stop pestering the new student.” The teacher fumed as he righted the boy in his seat and turned his attention to Hatsuma. “Now you’ll need to ignore people and pay attention to the teacher in class understood?” he explained in a rather mellow and understanding tone, clearly the man thought himself superior in intellect; however he was a teacher so Hatsuma would appease him. In the nomad village the children were treated as equals and trained as such infants and toddlers were an exception of course but training began early on for Hatsuma.
“Understood…” Hatsuma responded bluntly to which the teacher quirked a brow before returning to the front of the class and continuing his lecture on chakra flow. The class ended and Hatsuma stepped outside into the hall, the boy who whispered at her approached a little bit irritated judging by the scowl on his face.
“Why’d you say it so loud you’re supposed to whisper back not talk normal!” the boy vented though his face was still a bit red and got redder as Hatsuma flat out ignored him and walked onwards to the next class. “Y….you weirdo!” the kid shouted and stormed off in the other direction. Hatsuma would have responded however she was told to ignore everyone but the teachers and that is what she intended to do.’ Hatsuma thought back on that event and realized that whispering might have saved that boy trouble, but then again she’s have felt guilty for being secretive around an authoritative figure. She focused again on the task at hand and continued making her way along the wall; one might think her blind for using a wall to direct herself however this method was proven to be somewhat effective in mapping the layout of a maze. She turned yet another corner and found herself going down a parallel path to the one she had just exited. The dead ends she encountered had amounted to about 106 now so clearly the maze was massive as well as complex, it was no surprise it had taken her so long to get this far in, at least she felt like she was getting a bit closer to her goal now and that’s what matter. As she reached the next intersection she noted the increase of torches along the walls however the light from them was dimmer then before which made the passage have about the same light level regardless. “Interesting choice in lighting… perhaps it’s to welcome one to the depths of the maze? Or maybe it is a trick to confuse one into going the wrong way. Hatsuma thought a moment and continued on and made her way down another path, all were lit with the increase in torches so it didn’t matter which she chose, however her hand on the wall decided for her and that was always the decision maker for this choice as well as all the others she had made to this point. She had to admit the maze creator was quite clever in their design, however one with a sturdy will could prevail through it with enough persistence and effort.

Erkamina felt like she had made no progress going backwards either but it was the best shot she had of finding something she missed the first time around. She found a path that didn't bear her mark and took it with a shrug, she had indeed not seen everything while running at such speeds through the maze. Now that she was walking a normal speed it was easier to see where to go next. She took another turn as the path strayed to her left, ending up facing the way she'd come from before but parallel to the path she'd back-tracked from. She figured that the paths that were dead ends usually ran towards the sides so she tried to stay away from going to terribly far in one direction unless she had to. She preferred to turn and change paths as often as possible, it was more likely that she'd find a path that led to the center that way. After all, it was staying on a path that went in circles that led her to being lost and deducting time from her limit in the first place. She grumbled as time seemed to zoom by without her. She figured at least a few others had beaten her by now but as long as she got to the goal before some she would pass, right. She sighed and stared ahead at the paths that seemed to go on forever. She wished she could see further than a few feet down them but she couldn't, they bent out of her normal range and seemed to curve just to spite her normal eyes. She just tried to find her way as quickly as possible, trying to find a path to that ever elusive center area that seemed so close yet so out of reach. She was close before, within a few feet. If it weren't for that barrier she probably would have Wall Walked to that area but that would be cheating. Mist Nin may be violent but they weren't cheaters. She continued to take the unmarked paths, marking them as she did before, finding herself in a rut of a pickle. "Mm, this maze is making my thoughts cloudy, I just thought of pickles..." She thought as she continued down the pathways and byways of the labyrinth that had become a torture chamber of bitter musings of Erkamina. She hummed a soft melody to get her mind on other things other than strange euphemisms that don't really go together. Her hands started to sweat slightly as she had been holding them in pretty much the same position for so long and she was starting to get slightly nervous, but she didn't think of it for long before wiping her hands on her pants and shrugging. She just wanted out of this personal hell of walls and dead-ends. And she definitely didn't want to trigger another trap- and be tossed against the wall like some cheap rag doll- again. That still smarted now that she thought about it a bit. She rubbed the middle of her back subconsciously and thought of feathers. Why she didn't know but they were soft and fluffy, probably her tired mind telling her she needed sleep soon. But she had to finish this maze first.

… Soon I will show the world the worth of that name.’

Hatsuma's hand broke free of the rough wall revealing a large circular room boxes sat in the center of the room. so these were the prize... well better go collect then. Hatsuma glanced around the room to make sure the coast was clear before approaching. Hatsuma approached and looked at A note on the stone pillar that these small chests surrounded it read 'take one'. Hatsuma looked over the boxes that remained unpilfered and picked one near the end. opening it up she removed a kanji tile and placed it safely in her sash.
"It's probably unwise to stay here... from the count there aren't enough to go around... I'll need to find a way out... likely not the way I came in... that would make it to easy... this object might have something to do with my exit... for now I'll go into hiding from the others and see if i can make any progress towards the exit..." Hatsuma stated contemplating her options before taking off in a random direction weaving about to distort her footprints. once down a corridor she brought her feet onto one of the walls and began walking upon it, being sure to not trip over any of the torches along the way. the path was opposite the one she had entered the large room so it was unlikely that they intersected.

Erkamina continued to make some form of progress in the maze, or at least she thought she was. She felt more confident as more and more paths seemed to lack her mark on their entrances. Of course she was also going 'backwards' still but perhaps it was a sign that she was actually going the right way now and wasn't before. She secretly hoped that that was the case as she continued to take each path in stride, trying to find that ever elusive path to freedom and a passing 'grade' in this 'test'. She also wondered how Yua was doing but knowing that Yua had solved that puzzle a maze shouldn't be too far of a stretch. Erkamina felt almost stupid in comparison to her 'teammate.' But she had a purpose, a goal. And that made her determined and strong, as Mist would probably conclude. She fingered her headband as she walked, wondering what other villages were represented here. She figured at the very least each of the five major villages would have some form of representative plus the host village of Sound which made six teams, probably each having at least three people. Which meant she had seventeen people to compete against, Yua included. After all, there was almost always a battle in these exams, right?

Yua sighed as she kept moving around the maze it was getting frustrating now she couldn’t imagine if she had been here since the start of the exams and was still lost she would have screamed by now but maybe that’s why she heard other people yelling, it was infuriating being lost in this labyrinth and being all alone, well Yua wasn’t totally alone she had Senkai but he couldn’t exactly hold on a conversation, so she might as well have been alone Yua continued moving quickly through the maze now she was tired of this place and dealing with the stealth aspect of this when she had yet to find anything but a few tracks and the smell of cigarettes. Yua decided to move more quickly because so many people where near she didn’t want someone sneaking up behind her and if she moved quickly then she was harder to sneak up on. Yua came to another fork but she could see that one side had a long hallway and the other had a sharp turn, she looked around the turn and saw that it was dead end. Yua shook her head and then turned and went back down the hallway, it was long and straight finally it had a turn to the right, and Yua followed it. She sighed as she kept moving, looking around for any sign that people had been through there. She moved quickly and quietly trying to think of something else, so that she could relax more and not be so frustrated, she tried to think of what to do after the exam since they where in another country maybe taking a dip at the local bath house would be fun, actually the more she thought about it the happier it made her it sounded relaxing, a nice warm bath maybe she could convince Katsuko to go with her or Erkamina, so that she could hang out with her new friends some more. Yua smirked at the thought of going to a bath house with friends, then she realized she was calling them friends she had never had friends, everyone in the academy always though she was a book worm so no one hung around her she had always been alone, and now she had two people she barely knew and was calling them friends. Yua smirked at the though as she kept moving through the maze. Yua smirked at the idea of spending time with the two girls maybe having at party at her overly huge house she still needed to ask Erkamina if she wanted to stay there she could ask Katsuko to, it would be fun to have some roommates to spend time with and that way her big house wouldn’t feel so empty. Yua rounded another corner and spotted someone rounding a wall she stopped and listened for their foot steps to move away once she was sure they where long gone, she started to move again. She needed to be careful this close to the center but she still let her mind wander to other thoughts, of how she would ecorate the house and get to know the girls better if they did in fact move in with her.

Yua gritted her teeth as she came to yet another dead end then she turned and sat taking a rest so she could calm her mind and think properly. She sat Indian style with her legs crossed at the ankles, it was the most relaxing way of sitting she could think of. The she thought of the bath house and of the girls staying at her home and a smile spread on her face. The only thing she would have to worry about is locking the room in which she kept her puppets and supplies, she kept her puppet building technique a secret from everyone. She hadn’t even told the Mizukage about Senkai’s construction, for if people knew how he was built they would know his weak points although he had few they did exist. And it would be a big problem if someone got a hold of that information it would basically spell disaster for Yua’s fighting style. She relied heavily on Senkai’s capabilities, at least for now she would need to think of some kind of back if Senkai was defeated she had a few powerful Jutsu but none she had made herself and if she had learned anything from the academy it was that a Jutsu custom made by someone for themselves was usually much more potent and deadly, Yua had wanted to design at least one before the exams but she hadn’t had time, she had yet to even learn a Jutsu from her clam mostly because she wanted to make her own ice style Jutsu’s rather than relying on those mastered by others. She wanted to make the Mizu clan stand out in a whole new way, and to do that all her Mizu clan techniques had to be original’s, and they had to be unique to her once she made them she would not teach them to anyone else. They where going to be her private arsenal, she also wanted to do this so if anyone she knew ever went renegade they would not know how to counter Yua’s abilities.

Yua continued to sit and think trying to calm her mind it was running at a million miles an hour, running through different fight possibilities, and parts for her next puppet, ideas on extra fighting styles finally Yua opened her eyes and exhaled slowly. She was trying hard to calm herself, and then she thought of the most comforting thing she could, her sitting on the beach on a warm summer day with her family, it was a popular beach in water country. Yua had always loved going there she loved the feel of the warm sad between her toes and the feel of the ocean spray as the waves hit the shore, it was always relaxing to think of and such an enjoyable memory she had not be back there in such a long time she would love to go again if she ever got the chance. Yua smiled as she thought of the feeling of the sun on her pale skin, she didn’t get out in the sun much due to the Mist that surround the village, it almost surround the entire island accept for one time of year on that one beach.

Yua stood and smiled and then stretched she felt renewed after the happy memory, and grinned as she stretched her legs and sat down her large and heavy scroll., she stretched her right leg and then her left and the stretched her arms and her back. She was ready to get back into action and get through this maze Yua picked up the scroll and slid it onto her back, and strapped it into place, when she was sure it was good and tight she bent forward and adjust her shoes, and then the fishnet elbow pad on her left elbow and grinned as she moved quickly again out of the dead end and back into the maze. Yua moved quickly and quietly as she marked another of her symbols on her path to help keeping her from getting lost, she had a renewed vigor. She wanted to get this test done so she could meet up with her friends and discuss the living arrangements and if they wanted to stay with her, if they didn’t it was no big deal and if they did then all the better.

Yua moved quickly around a corner and looked up at the space between the roof and the wall, she wanted so badly to jump up and look but she figured that it either would count against her or there would be some kind of trap or something up there. So she did not try it she just kept moving as quickly and quietly as she could, she made sure also to cover her tracks as much as she could the floor was dirty and sandy and anyone stepping on it would leave a foot print so when Yua moved she slide her feet so that if a person was trying to track her it would be much harder, to figure out where she was going. Yua continued at a steady pace, controlling her breathing and keeping her mind focused on the task at hand she wished that she had been given more information prior to this exam but that would have made the task to easy.

Yua stopped as she rounded a corner and listened carefully, she could hear many foot steps, which meant that she was in the area with the most people, Yua looked behind her and saw the massive amount of foot prints that where left in the dirt, she grinned and quickly made hand seals her hands where a blur then she stopped on the final seal, and her cheeks swelled as the filled with water then Yua expelled the water from her mouth it was just enough to cover the floor and wash away the foot prints behind her also if someone wasn’t paying attention they would slip on the now wet floor. Yua smirked at the thought of someone falling for something so simple causing people who where already frustrated even more frustration would help her because it would cause them to lose focus.

Erkamina didn't seem to think she was getting any closer to the exit but her mind was elsewhere- occupied by the thoughts of the others. Yua was smarter than she was but maybe not as battle ready. And those two that popped in during training, who were they? She heard a grumble come from somewhere. She swiftly shifted her eyes side to side before realizing the noise had echoed from her own stomach. She rubbed at her stomach slightly as it growled its protest to her long period without eating anything. Sure, she'd survived on small- even minuscule- meals but she always ate something for supper. Even if it was a piece of bread and some fruit it was better than her current stomach-churning period of no food whatsoever since before training started. And that was the morning. Now it was getting close to sundown and she was getting hungry. She shook her head and tried to focus on the task at hand, finding her way out. After all, once she did that she could probably eat dinner at a local shop of some sort. But the issue of her low, well nearly empty, pocket-lint covered collection of money ruled out a filling meal unless it was included with the exams which she figured to be highly unlikely. Looks like she had to settle for something like instant ramen again. "Mm... Ramen..." She thought for a second as she wandered further into the maze and tried to clear her thoughts as she walked but food was the first thing on her mind now that she recognized the thought and gave it a voice in her head. She thought of food every step she took, each step being a different food. "Shark fin soup, what I wouldn't give for some of that. I think I had it once when dad caught a shark as a part of his mission and got to keep it. Bony suckers those are but their full of protein, that's what he said..." She thought as she tried to get her mind focused "anything worth while should be earned..." She repeated his words in her mind to get her thoughts cleared of food. But the more she tried the worse it got. She growled and reached into her pouch only to find the tools she was issued at graduation within. Not even a crumb. Wait, was that a soldier pill? No, those things were bitter and disgusting and weren't even really 'food' they were more 'chakra replenishment'. She didn't need chakra, she needed fat, carbohydrates, and protein- food in other words. A nice dinner was something she had very rarely but it would be very appreciated at the moment, even what most would call a snack would be nice to her knowing that she had been fending for herself for the time since her father disappeared. And at her age it was exceedingly difficult to do that without becoming a shinobi so that was another reason she joined the Academy again. She zipped her pouch again and grumbled under her breath at her lack of preparation, she hadn't even packed a small piece of bread for the trip. "How could I be so stupid as to not pack any food." She yelled out loud, not caring if she was heard or not. She kicked at the wall and growled as the pain hit her toes. She sighed and continued down the paths, the thought of food still haunting her thoughts. She tried to clear her mind but the more she trudged down the paths the more her thoughts began to repeat themselves over again. But she tried to retain her methodology.

… Soon I will show the world the worth of that name.’

Hisaki found himself a secluded spot at the end of a dead end and took a seat, "Phew, I gotta take a break. As long as I keep myself focused, I won't get sneaked up upon, and I'll stay hidden too. I know, I'll meditate for a bit, that always clears my mind... Or at least dad says that it's supposed to..." Hisaki crossed his legs and put his hands on his legs, "I really need a detecting jutsu or something. I should work on something like that, just like I did my other-" Hisaki paused, "My other jutsu, I got them from dad or... The underworld. It's coming back now... It felt like a dream, but I was Astral Projecting there using my Parallel Torment Technique. I can see it, I had just passed through a huge torii that a Shinigami told me was the gate to the first Circle of Hell, Limbo..." Hisaki's mind began to reflect upon that, flashing in his head like a movie reel.

* * *

Hisaki stepped out of the First Gateway and into the Realm known as Limbo. It was a vast place, with gentle yellow hills of flowers and a bright but eerie multicolored sky. Hisaki took a few steps in, and the sweet smell of the meadows activated his senses, "What a wierd place... I thought the First Gate of Hell would be alot more... Active..."
"This is Limbo, the Realm of the Misguided Souls. Souls who were just in their days on Earth, but weren't believers in the divine," said a croaking voice behind Hisaki, "It's not a place of violent punishment. Those here live in a somber peace that lasts forever. Although they may never rise to a more favorable afterlife, they're exempt from the tortures in the lower Circles of hell."

Hisaki looked back and saw that Shinigami had followed him into the first Circle. Hisaki frowned and said, "What are you doing here, Death God? I thought you'd have to watch the gate or something."

The looming Demon sighed, "Well, for one, I can't just let a living person run around the afterlife all... willy nilly... I suppose you living types would call it. We wouldn't want you messing something up down here. Secondly... I haven't had a break from that job in nearly thirty years. This isn't a nine to five job. We're talking twenty four seven reaping and judging. It's been that way ever since they released King Minos from his position. After one of the Great Shinobi Wars, the guys in Corporate decided it would expedite the process if I did judging and reaping. They still haven't changed it back." The Shinigami said sadly.

Hisaki shook his head, "So, what is there to do here? It doesn't look like a lot." The Shinigami shrugged, then pointed across the field at a speck in the distance, "The next door lies that way. You'll need a key for it though. I won't be opening it for you either." Hisaki shrugged and began to walk in silence.

Hisaki opened his eyes, and looked around with his Byakugan, "Damn it all, there are unidentified ninja all over the place, I gotta concentrate on moving for now. Sorry memories, but you'll have to wait."
