...Injured with pain and sadness, the you that cannot be healed
Shoulder the burden of the past that cannot be erased; don't throw away your
will to live...

Blossom had tried to follow the swing farther along where her opponent was moving, but to no avail. She brought her blade back in order to protect herself, gritting her teeth. His attention was being distracted by something else, though. There was some kid running with a barrel on his back? Wait, why am I paying attention to that? His attention is diverted!

Blossom leveled a powerful swing, arcing down from his far shoulder to the hip closer to her. Before she could try to move back and defend herself again, however, a blast of fire shot out from elsewhere, striking the barrel and causing it to explode. The sheer force of the explosion was enough to send Blossom toppling backwards likely affording the huge pirate she was fighting a panty shot and rolling once, landing on her stomach, Vezra still gripped in one hand.

"A-Aaaugh..." She slowly pulled herself to her feet, using Vezra for balance at first before trying to locate the man that had thrown his own ally to his fiery death. Flames were starting to raze at the Learanian ship, but much more strongly on the pirates', immediately setting Blossom at edge.

Someone had better put the fires out...! Blossom started to back up a little, trying to place herself near one of the planks in order to make a hasty retreat towards their long-range fighters and Arashe, if need be.

How did he doge that?! Valter thought as he soared past where the pirate used to be. As he wheeled around for another lunge at his enemy, a huge explosion rocked the ships, sending everyone that was on their feet falling to the ground. He couldn't believe his good fortune. About half of the remaining wyverns, including himself, were, for the most part, unaffected by the blast. The captain took advantage of this opportunity to stop in the air directly above Yam for a split second, then plummet downwards with the entire combined weight of the wyvern and himself.

The other wyvern riders also realized the opportunity this explosion presented. The ones that weren't affected by the blast dropped to the deck, allowing the two remaining combat-ready foot soldiers to dismount and get to work. They then took back into the air and started killing and pirates they could get their hands on, since most of the ballistae were destroyed. Besides, one of the wyvern riders thought, what good's a ballista if there's nobody alive to use it?

The two foot soldiers that managed to get aboard immediately began killing the downed pirates. They wanted as little resistance as possible when the enemy started getting back up. Unfortunately, the lieutenant was not with them, as he was being carried by a wyvern that was heavily disoriented by the blast. The two soldiers would have to think for themselves.

Glaucus didn't move, but instead braced himself. That was disconcerting. Why was he acting as though the ships were about to undergo some massive sudden movement?

It was a risky move, taking your eye off your opponent for even a split second, but between this and the sudden shouts Jin couldn't resist. What was so bloody interesting...?

All he got to see was a thief with a large barrel vaulting toward a mage casting Fire.

"HOLY--!"

Instead of aiming for the Rogue's boots, Jin instead just let the fireball fly away as the explosion brought both men tumbling to the deck. If he'd tried to hold onto it, who knows what he might've hit instead (enemies, his own ship, himself even). So he just let it go over his opponent's head and out into the ocean. It would burn itself out.

He lay still for a few seconds, dazed by the sheer loudness and explosive power of the blast. Never mind the fact that Glaucus was lying a few feet away from him... seriously, with something like that, Glauc could lie on top of him and neither one would make any move towards the other. Now it was just a battle of who regained their wits first.

Jin, however, did have a slight edge again: First, he was further away from the blast, so he felt just a sliver less power. Second, he had on a facemask like he always did, and... well, the world's a bit quieter when you wear something like that. A double-edged sword, since your awareness goes down in battle, but this was something Jin just... never took off. Not unless it was absolutely necessary and something else was available.

"Uuuugh..."

He slowly pulled himself to a sitting position. The ship was still rocking wildly, but it looked like his friend Glaucus there was still trying to recover. Jin just sort of stared at him for a second until the wheels in his head began to turn.

...He was still dazed.

...And Jin was... not so dazed.

...

Jin found his knives were gone; the blast must've caused him to throw them to goodness-knows-where. No biggie. That just made what he was about to do that much simpler.

He threw himself forward, each arm firmly grasping a wrist. Pinning his opponent's arms to the deck, he heaved his legs on top of the Rogue's legs, pinning them down under his own weight. This meant that ultimately, Glaucus was now trapped--however, neither one had the means to kill the other. They were too close together for Jin to use magic without both of them being hurt.

Once the Rogue seemed to collect his senses, Jin asked, "You mind telling me why you lot just did that? Both ships sinking doesn't mean you win! We both sink, we all drown!"

...There wasn't much else to do BUT talk, really.

Its not my fault you’re such a moron

Derrin,
One Step From the Edge

Just leave me alone

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Derrin's head was starting to swim again, but that was fine that was what the arrow was for. "Just look at the arrow, just keep looking at the arrow and he'd be ********" He yelled as said arrow as suddenly ripped from his body by a bishop and the wound healed, "What? You couldn't have bothered to warn-" THUNK went the arrow as it connected with the bishops face, "********." stated Derrin as the body slumped on him, a second arrow was probably on the way so Derrin used the bishop as portable cover for a moment and lo and behold he was right. The second arrow connected with the body's upper back. On the bright side the ripping of the arrow had taken away his seasickness for now.

Throwing the body away as the arrow hit Derrin started moving towards the side of the boat in order to jump across, he would have taken a plank but Clara was on the nearest one, and for a change she was the pissed off one... for some reason that turned Derrin on, still she couldn't see it but on the enemy side of the plank there was a few baddies waiting for her. They thought to kill his sweetheart did they? Wrong.

So Derrin jumped and pin wheeling his arms and legs he was airborne for a moment before landing on one knee with a hand placed down to brace himself, words were shouted as he stood up while turning and planted his hand that was curled like a claw on the bandits side belly and used his other hand to steady the wrist.

"Huh," He grunted as his custom spell, the Lightning Canon went off, five small blots shot from in front of his fingers and went through the mans body leaving holes, less then a second later the bigger bolt came firing from the air around his palm and blasted into the pirate leaving a fist shaped hole and sending him flying back. The pirate crashed into several of his fellows knocking most of them into the water, one guy was left now and Derrin ran at him as the pirate raised his axe.

The mage was quicker and putting all his body into this punch he slammed his fist into the scallywags chest the the punch had a lot of force behind it and the sea-bandit stumbled back, Derrin wasn't finished though a palm shot up and drove itself into the front of the bandits nose which caused to slide back, although the bone didn't slide far enough to kill this time Derrin was pleased to see that the Sea-dog was tearing and couldn't see as well anymore. A final palm strike to the side of the face took him out of action.

Now one would have to think about Hadrian and why Derrin hadn't been shot at this point, but the reason was simple, despite Hadrian's height advantage there was to much chaos on the Phantom deck and plenty of people were in between him and the sniper, an arrow would be more likely to hit someone other then Derrin, no matter how good his aim.

A thudding behind him announced that Clara was at the edge of the plank, and so Derrin turned towards her, "Are you okay? Here." He said simply as he shoved his thunder tome back into its holster and placed both his hands on either side of Clara's slim waist, with the intention of helping her off the plank. But then something caught his eye, over Clara's shoulder he saw a man flying through the air with a barrel strapped to his back... and a fireball hot on his heels.

"DOWN," He exclaimed (stupid exclamation mark isn't working :/) as he threw Clara roughly onto the deck of the Phantom, before falling atop her, Derrin forced his beloved's head down underneath him as he raised a hand to cover his own head. The explosion came a moment later, and all of a sudden Derrin was unable to here anything but ringing. The ship gave a sickening lurch and Derrin began having horrific thoughts all of which ended with drowning. Shrapnel pelted him and reflexively Derrin held Clara closer to him, once he was done being hit with pieces of wood Derrin stood up and saw that Clara had survived. Shell-shocked he looked over to his left and saw no less the fifty centimeters away a length of wood as long as his leg sticking out of the deck. There was no going back now, that peice of wood had been part of the plank.

"The sniper you ******** idiot, did you forget about the ******** sniper?" Still confused as hell this thought broke through the dizziness and Derrin started stumbling his way to the nearest mast, which would provide cover from Hadrian and hopefully draw fire from Clara. Derrin couldn't here it nor did he know it but he was chanting a spell under his breath as he stumbled towards his goal, and then he stumbled and the spell went off blowing a small hole in the deck to his immediate left. This knocked him more off balance and Derrin sprawled behind the mast.

Quickly he dragged himself into a sitting position behind the mast and safety, so he sat there blinking to try and unblur his eyes as he opened and closed his mouth in a futile attempt to pop his ears. Poking his head around the corner he saw the sniper at the other end of the ship, somehow earlier, despite the fact that they were on opposite ends of each ship Hadrian had managed to shoot him... and still miss everyone and everything between them... maybe his arrows could like, pass through people or something.

Damn this was going to be tough, no point rushing it though; he'd just wait for his head to clear before making his move.

He hoped Clara was okay.

pirate Yo ho, yo ho
----------------------------------------------------------
Pretty much all the Learanians in front of him that were too slow to retreat or too stupid to think that they could handle such a being like Tighearnach were pretty much either slain by the Silver Axe or sent flying into the water with his free arm. It seemed as if his support was held off by some of the Learanians, who had jumped from the right plank to the center one. They would be fine, right? All that mattered right now was the blond sniper, and anyone foolish enough to get in his way would be deftly handled.

He had not taken more than five steps away from the plank onto the Sniper's boat when there was a loud explosion behind him, towards the right. Even a man as massive or so used to rough waters like Tighearnach stumbled as the boats lurched, the cries of men from both sides falling into the water below. There was a strong chance that they would become a tasty meal for the sharks, if any happened to roam near here. Certainly, they would come because of all the blood.

The rocking of the boat had resulted in the first shot to fall dangerously close to his right leg. Too close for comfort. But the captain knew the dangers of staying still, even for a moment, against an archer. So, ignoring the throbbing headache and the ringing in his ears as best as he could, he staggered back up to his feet. His vision was a tad bit shaky, but there was no mistaking that non-sea blue color near the mast. He was probably planning on firing again while the captain was still struggling.

So he pulled both his arms in front of him to serve as a shield (however feeble it may be. He wasn't Muir, who actually had one, nor was there any meatshields nearby. Those that were close were either behind him, or in the water, and it would be too risky to move back to grab one, lest he wanted to expose his back to the archer) as he angled his body slightly to make him a smaller target. And then he felt pain in his left arm, around the area that was protecting the heart. The landlubber wasn't wasting any shots, was he? Going straight for a lethal shot. The chest, the leg, the head...this guy knew what he was doing. While the shot didn't hit anything life-threatening, it did leave his arm a little numb, and probably useless for a while.

The captain then saw bits of smoldering carcass and dark cloth near where he was standing (from whoever blew themselves up like that), and growled.

"WHO DA HELL GAVE YE SCURVY DAWGS DA ORDER TE BLOW UP YER OWN BRODDAHS FER A KAMIKAZE?! IF WE LIVE THROUGH DIS, YER ALL GOIN' TE BE PUNISHED SEVERELY, NOT ONLY FER ENDANGERIN' YER LIVES FER SOMETHIN' SO STUPID, BUT FER BLASTIN' HOLES IN DA SHIP!". roared the captain, his angry voice loud enough to be heard over the roar of combat as he slammed the top of the axe into Arashe's ship. Force of impact broke the top of the deck in front of him, and he yanked the Silver Axe out before he leapt over the small hole he made and charged right for Arashe.

The pirates that didn't have ringing in their ears and were still alive would pass the threat on to their comrades (once the momentary deafness passed). But one thing was promised to these pirates, if they survived this naval battle.

They were all screwed. And their panic was obvious as their actions suddenly changed. They were going all-out now.

((Tighearnach narrowly evades the first arrow, thanks to the blast, and he defended himself, but takes an arrow in his left arm. He's now charging for you, Arashe. Oh, and the faceless pirates that are still alive are going all-out now.))
PostPosted: Tue Jul 06, 2010 8:56 pm

Arashe felt his body tense up immensely as he saw a man in the distance go airborne and be hit with a fireball. The explosion was quite a distraction to the Ranger, even though it barely effected him. After all, the explosion was clear on the other side of the ship, and hardly even hit the Learanian ship. It did, however, send enough of a tremble across the boat that Arashe had to use the mast he stood by as support for a moment.

He sneered as he saw the rather barbaric captain just slam his axe into the deck like a baby having a tantrum. When he and his pirates were all dead, how could they be forced to repair the damages? Already, Arashe was preparing the Brave Bow once more. So, the moment Tighearnach hopped across the hole he made, Arashe fired an arrow right towards his chest once more. Then, he took a step or two back, closer to the mast, before taking aim once more. Tighearnach began a charge, one that would inevitably lead him up a staircase before he was anywhere near Arashe. So, a few steps into the rush, Arashe shot his second arrow, this time aiming for where the man would be in another step or so, particularly at his unprotected head. Even if he missed, he still had a height advantage and better maneuverability.

While that's happening, the Faceless Learanians that weren't heavily shaken by the blast began to attack pirates. And then they all recovered and attacked pirates.

♥ Super Awesome Ostian Noble Lady ♥

Explosions! Shock waves, knocking everyone onto their behinds! Axes, magic, and flames flying about everywhere!

Had Serra not seen such things before, she probably would have assigned herself to healing duty below decks and would make every excuse to ensure that she'd have a powerful bodyguard near her at all times. Someone dashing and handsome, naturally. Someone with muscles would be nice, but he had to be able to carry on a conversation, too!

Such thoughts ran through her head even as she fumbled with the book again, trying to read as fast as she could while avoiding the flying axes, falling embers, zipping arrows, and all matter of debris that really had no business flying so close to her wonderful face. Already, she'd lost a fair bit of hair to an axe she had barely ducked under in time- her left pigtail was now nearly an inch shorter, and her eyes were wide as saucers with the realization.

Vain she might be, but stupid was something that she wasn't. As much as she flaunted her status and beauty, she knew the horrors of war firsthand and knew her own mortality alarmingly well. It came with the territory of being a healer- people lived and died, right in front of her eyes. It always seemed that divine wit threw the dice- would she hear last breaths, gurgles of those drowning in their own blood, or sighs of relief whenever she attended to the wounded? Her staff was tied to her hip, and despite hearing the shrieks of pain, something about the book in her hands told her to take divine humor into her own hands.

If the gods would laugh at the suffering of the wounded, then the words of Saint Elimine would protect her faithful sheep and keep them from further harm. And she would be the holy, pristine, and totally modest vessel!

Keeping an eye on her hands, this time, Serra whispered the words of the holy scripture, even as the flames continued to spread.

...This time, the magic shot straight, at least.

Though that didn't mean her hand was aimed at exactly the right area, though.

"...Uh. Itotallydidn'tkillhimSaintElimineIdidn'tmeanto--"

A friendly priest dropped after a rather potent Light spell effectively scorched the back of his head.

Whoops.

pirate Yo ho, yo ho
----------------------------------------------------------
The blast caused Muir to roll forwards, towards the girl with the big sword and OMGPANTYSHOTLOL. Well, crap. Maybe the explosion was not the best idea he was given. Damn sage. Where the bloody hell was he at a time like this? Was he hiding below deck or something?!

Speaking of blood...well, now he had two places that was bleeding. First was the slash he took from the girl while throwing the kamikaze thief. While it wasn't at all a deep slash, it wasn't a very shallow one either. The other was his nose, because he was such an innocent boy and he had gotten his first glimpse of panties since...ever. Woo innocent and formal pirate.

Upon hearing the captain, the Hero shuddered. ********. He was in some pretty deep s**t now. He would have to make up for his mistake.

Steel Blade in hands, he made a fierce spin attack. The force of the swing, plus the size of the blade, produced a blast of air that put out the flames near him. Damn, the cut at his chest and shoulder hurt like a ********. But he had to put on a good face. Trick the enemy into thinking that their attack did nothing to him, force them to make a retreat. Damn the pain. Damn it all to Davy Jones' Locker!

"Rragh!" shouted Muir, charging for Blossom.
............................................................................
The blast had caused Yam to fall over, off the pirate he had landed on and close to the raised area supporting the now ruined bastilla he was on earlier. He tuck the tome close as he rolled, ultimately stopping on his back. s**t. This was not good for him. His opponent was flying, and the blast wouldn't affect him since he wasn't near the site of the explosion. He opened the book and began to prepare for an elthunder to force the wyvern away from him, one arm stretched up out towards the air.

"Bolt of Zeus! I call thee! El--"

Yam was too slow. The wyvern was already dropping. Right where he was lying. And it was too close for him to roll away. Instead, he resigned to his fate. He pushed the tome away from him, watching it slide towards one of the doors to the lower deck. Time seemed to move...so slowly for him, as he turned to look up at the underside of the falling wyvern. He closed his eyes as his life flashed before his eyes: Abandoned at a young age, found by a traveling circus, worked as an acrobat, the fatal error he had committed that cost his partner her life as well as his job, the loneliness of it all, until he was found by Tighearnach on a cold rainy day near the coast. After that, life was good. Though it was short, he was glad he met the captain.

Sorry Captain T...guess I'll have to carry my debt into the afterlife... he thought.

Moments later, there was a splat as his body was crushed under the weight of the wyvern, a chilling cry distorted by the sound of breaking bones and the thud of the wyvern hitting the deck.

One down, seven more named to go.
............................................................................
Glaucus was sent toppling backwards, the blast so close to him and the man he was facing. He actually rolled quite a bit before managing to position his arms and legs to stop the rolling. As he started to stagger back to his feet, his head aching madly, his ears ringing loudly, and his sense of direction so fumbled it was like down was up, up was right, and right was lost in space. He felt something ram into him, and down he went again, pinned down. He couldn't move his hands or legs, from how the person on top was on him. The rogue trembled. Was he going to get raped in the midst of combat? D: He wouldn't be able to cry out or anything, which only made that thought that much scarier.

Once his five senses came back to him, he saw the man his was fighting on top of him. He was asking him why they had decided to do something so stupid like that that could have resulted in both ships sinking.

Well, if only he could speak, then he would explain.

Glaucus opened his mouth to show the Shadow Priest that he had no tongue (thus leaving him mute) before his eyes shifted up towards one of his hands, trying to speak in sign language.
............................................................................
Though the blasts had caused the ships to rock, Hadrian was much too far away for it to affect him too badly. He stumbled, but quickly got back to his feet, loading an arrow to his bow as he looked around for the mage. It seemed like he was protecting some female swordmistress. The sniper smirked as he raised his bow, about to fire, when he heard Yam's death cry. He turned towards the source of the sound (being nearest to the man), to see that several wyverns had landed on the deck. But the one Yam was fighting had crushed the poor thunder mage under the scaly beast.

"Yom! Ya bostord!" shouted Hadrian, turning the short bow towards the wyvern captain before he fired the arrow, aiming for the neck of the man.
............................................................................
The faceless pirates that were all knocked over by the blast made attempts to land on their backs so that they would be able to block any attacks that came their way, despite varying levels of headaches and deafness. Those that were successful, lived. Those that weren't...well, they took varying levels of damage, from minor wounds to death. When they heard the angry roar of their captain, those that could still fight fought fiercely, killing the faceless Learanians where ever they saw them. They knew they were becoming outnumbered, so this was their last stand, to lower the enemy's numbers by however many they could.
............................................................................
Andrew, the normal myrmidon, stumbled from the blast. He shakily got to his feet, using the Killing Edge as a support. His senses came back to him quickly as he shook his head, then charged back into the fray. He barked a command to the faceless swordsmen to attack ruthlessly and started to make his way to one of the planks to help out his captain when he noticed a red headed mage make his way to one of the masts before sitting down, probably to regain his senses. There was a female swordmistress the mage had just abandoned. Andrew smirked to himself before he ran towards the mast that Derrin was hiding at, spun around it so that he would be where Derrin was, then swung down with the Killing Edge, aiming to split the target's head open.
............................................................................
Llyr stumbled from the blast, his long sleeves getting torn apart by the wooden shrapnel. He got back up to his feet, though his hearing was limited and his head throbbed. One of the planks to the enemy ship was destroyed. If the fire mage hurried, he could probably get up onto the Learanian ship to defend Tighearnach, who had single-handedly fought his way up there. As expected of the captain and probably the one person Llyr would ever call Father.

Once his head was clear and the ringing stopped, he blasted a soldier with a Fire spell, knocking him off the boat, before hurrying towards one of the remaining planks to go support the captain.
............................................................................
Just as Tighearnach landed from his small hop over the hole he made, he felt another arrow pierce his chest. He grunted, feeling the pain multiply from that area from the previous arrow in his chest. He then brought his right arm up and swung down, the forearm breaking the two wooden shafts in his chest. There wasn't much he could do about the arrow in his arm. He charged towards the blue clothed sniper, seeing the blond load another arrow. Just at the last moment, before he fired, Tighearnach took a big step with his right foot away from his intended path and swung down on one of the faceless archers. The Silver Axe made short work of the bowman, the swing lopping off the extended arm (and thus changed the arrow's target) before he stepped in with his left foot (swinging his hip around) and rammed the archer with his left shoulder. The force of the hit was enough to send the archer flying. And the arrow intended for Tighearnach's face sailed harmlessly over his shoulder with that first step towards the faceless archer.

Tighearnach may have been charging towards Arashe initially, but he was going to get rid of anyone that was between that distance, even if it was a little out of the way. But it wasn't like he was going to go from one side of the ship to the other just to kill people. If the enemy was close, he'd take the chance. After all, the Sniper had to run out of arrows sometime soon, right?

((Tl;dr? Muir is injured and is sporting a nosebleed from Blossom's panty shot and is going for her (she responded already). Yam tried to cast an Elthunder, but he knew his attack wouldn't reach before he was crushed, so he tossed aside the tome and accepted his death. Glaucus is showing Jin that he has no tongue and is trying to communicate with the Shadow Priest via the thief's secret language. Hadrian shifted targets and is shooting an arrow at Valter, intending for the base of his neck. I'm assuming Valter is unable to see Hadrian from the way he landed, which is why I'm taking that shot. Llyr is making his way towards the center plank to get to the captain. Andrew shifted targets and is attacking a resting Derrin, aiming for his head with a vertical swing with the Killing Edge. Tighearnach took an arrow to the chest, broke both the arrow shafts in his chest, charged towards Arashe, but at the last moment stepped towards his right to sever an archer's arm before smiting him with a shoulder ram. If anything needs to be fixed, lemme know.))

...Injured with pain and sadness, the you that cannot be healed

Blossom gritted her teeth, backing up a little bit more. The fact that their ship was being razed by flames and her opponent was standing amidst them like it was nothing to him was, well, kind of intimidating. As scary as it was to hear the bandanna-wearing man from before roar in anger at his men, it actually helped Blossom to grip onto the situation again. The man attacking her certainly seemed scared of his captain.

It was impressive that he could put out the flames around him just by spinning around with those blades, but it wasn't an actual attack, so... Blossom readied herself as he began to run at her, shouting nonsensically.

He was a big dude, and even with the bleeding cuts, he was going strong. Blossom narrowed her eyes, taking a step back. He had his sword in both hands, ready to swing... Blossom leaped to the side right as he was about to get within range, leveling a sweeping blow at his side as she went. It had the unfortunate side effect of knocking her onto the deck and sending her skidding along a few feet, but hell, it was unexpected and it'd hopefully work, right?

Blossom pulled herself up as quickly as she could, Vezra's hilt back in her hands. "I should... probably get back on our ship so I'm not fighting by myself," she muttered. Her left shoulder hurt like crazy now, but she could still use it.

Hopefully this brickhouse of a dude wouldn't ram her over if she tried to get back over to Arashe's boat...

Jin waited for his captive's reply. ...And waited. And waited a little more. What's his problem? Cat got his ton--eeuuugh! He winced visibly as he discovered that at least SOMETHING got Glaucus' tongue. Sure, he too had a disfigurement, but that at least could be covered up with a mask, geez.

Then a look of annoyance crossed his face as he realized he had a bigger problem.

"Aw, geez... look, I used sign language too, but it's been a long time, and a long time's what I don't have here!"

With pirates giving the Learanians total hell, Jin really couldn't afford to waste his time pantomiming while soldiers were dying around him. They'd lost too many as it was in this damned assault! He could only hope this was actually the "creme de la creme" of Sentria they were dealing with, or Learania was good as ******** instead, he raised his head, leaving Glaucus one second to ponder what the heck was going on before Jin slammed his forehead directly into the Rogue's left temple, the impact most likely knocking him out cold. Or at least stunning him (Jin did give the headbutt at a bit of an angle, so it might not have landed perfectly). Either way would give enough time.

As the Rogue lay stunned, Jin let go of one of his wrists to reach back into his cloak, pulling out a knife.

"..."

He plunged the knife downward towards Glaucus' neck.

Derrin was all kinds of hell, dazed he sat underneath the mast trying desperately to gather his thoughts.

Come on idiot, are you just going to sit here all day? All it takes is one, just one random pirate to come around the corner and end your sorry life. What good would you be th---- oh look heres one now

Derrin looked up stupidly at the man looking down on him, an evil sword glinted in the air before coming down towards him.

"No!" He cried, flinching away and throwing his hands above his head in a stopping or maybe a pleading gesture, the sword connected with his hands as opposed to his head and kept going to thud against the deck in between his legs. Derrin didn't lose a hand though or even get cut by the blade though, although he had only thrown his hands up as a flinch the fact remained that they are steel plates in his gloves, and although the fabric was starting to get cut to s**t he would prefer that over his flesh any day.

After the slash was blocked Derrin didn't waste anytime staring around stupidly anymore, that near-death experience had almost cleared his head. Placing a hand on the back of the sword he forced it to stay where he was as he got up, he didn't bother a counter-strike as he was still not only seeing double (though it was nearly cleared) but still a little dizzy. Instead he ran, back the way he came, he would get on the Learanian ship and find cover there.

He made it back almost as far as where the plank had been before he realized that it wasn't there, not only that but the holes in the ships made it impossible for him to cross again by jumping. He was cornered, only one option was left...

He turned and made ready to defend himself.

What is the world hit Clara? The only things that seemed to register in her head was Derrin grabbing her, throwing her to the ground, something getting on top of her, and a boom. Somewhere in all that mess, she dropped her sword.

Once the world stopped spinning, Clara got up from the floor. She saw flames. This wasn't good. She turned around and the planks were gone. Well at least the plank she came on was gone. She looked around and grabbed the nearest sword so she could fight.

Something then caught Clara's eye. It was Derrin. It looked like he was getting attacked by some random pirate. Her anger came back and she rushed to Derrin so she could take the attack.

"Lets see you try and get my love." She said

(( My muse is like, five different kinds of dead, so suck it up and deal. ))

Arashe scowled as he saw the Berserker move to the side and kill one of his subordinates at the last minute. What, was he too much a coward to face someone head-on, that he had to kill someone that wasn't even attacking him? Disgusting pile of waste, this pirate. Arashe was already preparing another arrow after he'd fired the last and, just as Tighearnach was about to begin his charge, Arashe let another arrow fly from the Brave Bow, this time aimed once more for the chest. An arrow in the arm, and then two in the chest that got moved more when he lopped off the shafts would have to be a lot of pain, no matter who he was. After all, behind the chest were the ribs, and behind those were lungs and the heart. He couldn't possibly take much more, right?

Arashe, this time, gave the enemy captain no time whatsoever to recover. The moment he fired that first arrow, he was already grabbing another one. But this time, he spun it as he pulled it out. He'd seen a few novice archers do that once in a while, and fail, during his earlier time in the Guard, and it would be pretty entertaining if he managed to get it right. And of course, get it right he did, though only barely. Arashe nearly dropped the arrow before placing it against the bowstring. Without even taking time to aim directly for some weak point for massive damage, Arashe just let the arrow fly, aimed for the general area of the enemy's chest. Moving sideways would either send him off the boat or into the arrow more, and he wouldn't gain anything from backing up, while moving forwards would only serve to have the arrow connect with his head. After all, arrows flew fast, and a bulky berserker would hardly have the speed needed to dodge after getting three arrows in his chest. Or at least, Arashe thought so, since he'd never seen someone take this many of his arrows and keep breathing, let alone walking.

He let out a sigh as he fired the arrow, and only took out and prepared a third. If, somehow, this man managed to not embrace the reaper after all that, he'd have yet another surprise waiting for him. Arashe was honestly getting tired of this man's resilience. He could have just used the Ichival from the start and ended it, but no, he had to give the enemy a chance. At this point, he just wanted the battle to end and, if it wouldn't by the hands of normal weapons, he would resort to Ichival, simple as that.

pirate Yo ho, yo ho

...It was pretty obvious that the pirates wouldn't be able to hold out for much longer. They were outnumbered, and only a few of them had even managed to cross onto the Learanian ship. But if they could reduce their numbers to make it easier for the others on the mainland, they were willing to do it. And it wasn't like they were expecting reinforcements either. Even so, it was their last battle, so might as well go all-out.

Muir saw the girl leap to the side, swinging at him. He slid to a halt, bringing his sword around to defend the side that she was attacking him as he slid, just like with that first attack she tried against him. The free arm served as a support to the blade, the weapons clashing.

But he was not fast enough, thanks to that first slash. Her sword did cut into his side a little before he could successfully block it and shove her weapon out of his side with the sharp end. The girl stumbled a little from her strike, but it did damage, which was starting to take its toll on him.

He endured the pain and grit his teeth, once again going for a poker face. But it was obvious that he would moving a little slower now. If he could just hit her...once, that would be enough.

Muir pulled forth the lighter Iron Axe with his free hand before going after her. He could toss it at her, but he didn't want to risk missing and hitting an unintended target.

Glaucus frowned. The guy was a thief-type, but he didn't remember the sign language?

For shame.

Jin raised his head, and Glaucus tilted his head to the side, wondering what the ******** he was doing before WHAM! Right in the temple. The head tilt and the strike's angle prevented Jin from knocking him unconscious, but son of a ********, that hurt! The back of his head struck the deck of the ship, and then his vision blurred, colors melding together for one huge ******** of a mess. Well, wasn't that just great? How was he supposed to defend himself now?

He felt one of his arms suddenly become free, but the headbutt left him stunned to do much. Even if he was somehow able to prevent his death, he could barely see. And he wasn't able to call out to anyone.

His free arm made an attempt to move up, but he knew it was pointless. Might as well accept his death. Maybe in the afterlife (was there one?), he could apologize to Tighearnach.

As the blade came down towards his throat to slay him, Glaucus' mouth moved, mouthing a single word.

Why?

A flash of red and a dying gurgle as blood leeched out of his sliced neck. That was the last Glaucus could see or hear anymore.

Two down, six more to go.

Caspian made his way over to aid the captain in his battle. But what was this? A mage trying to defend himself, and close to the edge? Well, a hit was a hit. That's how fighters like him were. He passed behind Muir, who was going for the girl with the bigass sword.

He charged at Derrin, and once he was close, smited the boy with a shoulder barge. His overwhelming size compared to the boy's lightweight constitution was more than enough to send the boy overboard. As he smited, his Killer Axe scratched against the deck, wedging itself in-between two boards in one of the smaller holes, preventing the pirate from getting dragged off the boat. If Derrin had somehow recovered fast enough and was able to see a large man in his blind spot slam into him, he might be able to grab onto him. But it wasn't like the mage was able to fight back if he was holding onto the pirate with only one hand and hold the tome with another. And if he was somehow able to open the book to get the incantation done, well all he had to do was shrug the kid off before the incantation finished. And he still had an arm to beat up the kid while the other arm held onto the Killer Axe.

Of course, that was only if Derrin managed to grab him. If not, well...that took care of one troublesome pest.
.........................................................................
Andrew the normal myrmidon was annoyed that his attack had been blocked so easily. Did the guy have metal on his hands or something? As the mage scampered off, leaving Andrew to free his blade, he caught a female swordsman charging for him, saying something about her love.

...What? From the way she spoke, it sounded like that ugly ******** of a mage was her boyfriend or something. Hah. He was a lot better looking than him. And probably more reliable.

It didn't seem like she was attacking. Just rushing forward at him. With Killing Edge in hand, he might as well try showing off. He backflipped, landing on his feet, before it appeared that he vanished. But in all actuality, he was just moving really, really fast. (Myrmidon critical movements. Not necessarily a crit).
.........................................................................
Llyr made his way up to the Learanian boat on the left side (because he was a fast mage, duh. And most of the fighting had already moved away from there) before he pulled out the Elfire. He flipped open the book, pointed his hand at the mast Arashe was at, and began his incantation.

"Pillar of flames! Burn 'em! Elfire!" he said.

Arashe would soon find the mast he was standing in front of burst into flames from the Elfire. If he didn't get away from the hot flames, his clothes would probably catch on fire, or worse...his bows would catch fire.

((tl;dr. Muir takes some damage from Blossom's random strike, but he's still able to fight, though his movements have been slowed. However. he now has Steel Blade in one hand, Iron Axe in the other, dual-wielding a little thanks to his high constitution. Glaucus is killed. Derrin's getting smited by Caspian. Clara's getting attacked by Andrew. And Llyr's setting the mast Arashe's next to on fire. Tig post will come when I come up with something for him.))

If there were any places that Learanian Soldiers were at in bulk, it was on the left plank. After all, with the right destroyed, and the middle still recovering from a charging berserker, nothing whatsoever had happened to the left, so there were still quite a few soldiers all across it. So, when a mage was trying to be sneaky and walk across it, he only got so far as getting around maybe one soldier, the one dealing with the pirates, before running directly into one standing on the plank. The man took his sword and swung it like a baseball bat, flat side towards Llyr's left arm (they were facing each other, after all) with likely more than enough force to send the less-than-subtle mage into the ocean below. So, no mast was lit on fire today, at least not by Llyr the Fire Mage.

Concurrent to that little debacle, an axefighter, Caspian, began attempting to barrel across the middle plank, but not before walking around behind his great-sword-wielding comrade on the Phantom. After all, it wasn't like Blossom teleported or something, she was still very much on the Phantom. But, as he charged across the middle plank (I guess, since the left has more people on it) he was met by four swordsmen: two Mercenaries and two Myrmidons. As he ran past them, two of them decided to swing their swords at him and, given the fact that the man still probably had to pass by a few of his allies to reach Derrin, they likely hit. But, it wouldn't be anything particularly debilitating. The other two then swung their blades towards the pirates on the Phantom, as they saw the girl with the large sword run into a slight rough spot. Plus, if any Learanian needed to get to their boat, they'd maybe have a bit less trouble, with the obstacles slowly getting removed by the swordsmen. But, as Caspian still managed to escape the Learanian blades and slam into a poor mage, a few archers took notice of this and fired a few of their arrows towards him. After all, the enemy archers were in much worse shape, what with wyverns running about.

Now, there were two Bishops dead. One, by Hadrian's arrows in a valiant sacrifice to keep Derrin alive. The other, by a terrible bit of friendly fire from the friendly neighborhood Serra. With only one left, healing could be in short supply, especially since a good while ago, this Bishop began scaling a mast to douse the flames that Serra had ignited. As he was climbing, he managed to see his two comrades fall, one by an arrow, and one by that so-called holy woman. With a heart heavy from the loss of his friends and the rage of an ally cutting one of their lives short, he pressed forward. At the very least, he had to survive, if not for himself, then for those that died and those that were still alive who would need his skills. Even with his subpar strength, he was able to make it to a platform, where he quickly shook the mast and beat the flames with his staff, leaving nothing more than a black, crispy spot where the flames used to be. With the ship's safety secured about as well as he could make it, the Bishop began to descend, pausing every few arm and leg movements to cast a Light spell, smiting a faceless pirate with each casting. As opposed to Serra, the Guard Bishops had training enough to know how to cast a spell. Still, he managed to remain unnoticed. His ascent and descent were obscured by the mast he hid behind, the Berserker was busying himself with Captain Arashe, the archers, swordsmen, and his spells were defeating any pirates who boarded the ship, and Caspian the axeman was dealing with the mage the Bishop had seen his associate heal before he died.

And here, of course, is where the Arashe Post will be, once Roy edits in a Tighearnach post above.
