This was one of the few times he considered himself lucky. His injuries were nothing compared to those that were closer to the explosion. He'd manage to stand up and limp over to where the rest of the soldiers were and drop onto the ground for a little rest.
As Oujay rested, he saw a huge shadow beginning to appear near him. For a second, he thought it was another bandit throwing debris at them. However, the hearing of wing flaps got him confused. "A Wyvern?" he whispered to himself as he turned to see a wyvern descend onto the ground. He had not remembered a wyvern with the party as they were approaching Pentheus. Must have been a new recruit.
A cleric approached him. He saw the healing staff in her hand and was able to tell it had very little uses left. He was glad for it was used on other people for their injuries before him. The cleric healed him and Oujay thanked her.
The mercenary stood back on his feet. It felt better to stand on his two feet than sit down in his opinion. He then heard the captain's plan as he stretched a little bit. He walked around the wyvern so he was able to see the two captains. He heard a lancer speak then a Laguz too. "Umm, I'm also in," he said with a hint of shyness. But he was still determined to help in any way he can.

Needles sighed, busy restringing her longbow-- an ill-timed bandit's swing had severed the string and nearly broke her weapon toward the end of the fight; Needles had only survived the encounter because he had failed to wear a codpiece, and before she stabbed him with his own sword, she'd kicked his testicles up into the approximate territory of her lower intestine.
Once her weapon was back in working condition, she joined her fellow Captain, weaving among her troops, whom she had ordered to search for any Penthean survivors in the households, and to see them fed and given safe passage out of the city until it could be secured.
"Mmm," he sighed, listening carefully to Deborah's idea. "... Yeah. I can get archers up on the walls to deal with most of the first wave, which means we'd be holding the lot of you in here doing nothing while the second wave got ready to hit us hard. I'm just... I'm also concerned about the planning," she muttered, thumping her boot against the cobbled street. "Mordache couldn't get all these bandits to work together, could they?"
"A-hem," said a voice from behind them. Ganon was doing his best not to loom, he really was-- but he was failing miserably. "I... may be able to shed some light on that. I spent a couple of weeks in a bandit stronghold a few years ago, in the cells. Very interesting story, actually," he added, instinctively plucking a few notes on his guitar, but he forced himself to stop, pressing his palm gently to the strings. "The bandits spoke about a group that sort of... governed all the others. They were griping about the tribute they had to pay... I believe they called the leader of that group the Serpent's Fang." Ganon had a good memory-- it's necessary when you make your living telling stories. "I don't know his real name, and I doubt they did either. But if anyone could get the bandits all together..." He closed his eye.
"I'd guess it's him. Which means we're dealing with... not just his bandits, but any group he could force to join his ranks along the way here. Given that Sentria is basically in a constant state of war between hundreds of bandit groups... we could be vastly outnumbered here."
He paused for a moment and added, "That said... I'd like to go into the desert. You'll need my support."

It definitely made it easier, as opposed to forcing them to go. Their approval gave the plan a much higher chance of victory.
All that was needed was approval from Needles. The captain did give it, but asked a difficult question. Deborah showed up in the world in Sentria, but never really learned about any figurehead. She never became acquainted well enough with a bandit to ask, and any villagers were too scared to answer.
When a familiar voice chimed in, Deborah glanced back to see Ganon. She knew that he was knowledgeable, but didn't realize just how much. The 'Serpent Fang' character could explain the bandit's unusual organization, but it would mean such a leader was no ordinary bandit. Maybe the leader was from Mordache or some other place- not that it mattered. Ganon was right. But all that meant was that they couldn't lose the upcoming battle.
The halberdier smirked as the reptile finished. "Well dat's good, scaly, 'cuz I wasn't gunna give ya a choice, anyway. We'll really need deh powah of ya music, on dis one." She looked over at the wounded still being healed. "And any guild membah dat can use a stave, as well. ...It gunna get messy, our dere." She paused a moment before clapping her hands together. "So! Get ya asses movin' and get ready tah go, already! Go to dah north gate when ya ready. I got one round tah make and I'll be dere, too. Don't keep me waitin'!"

Hours passed and Drake's group had finally appeared in the distance, just close enough for soldiers in the towers and on the wall to see. The trueblade stepped forward with Viscen and looked out at Pentheus. The Learanians had been preparing for them. Their archers were on the lookout and had probably spotted them already. The exit that the kid had made had been blocked by debris, along with the gates that had been blown. Drake smirked. This was going to be a lot more of a challenge than it was the first time.
"Line up, bowmen!" he shouted. The bandits with gaudy bows fumbled about and lined up as quickly as they could. They knew it was bad to keep the Serpent Fang waiting. Drake looked over at Viscen and raised a brow. "That means you too, kid." When all the bowmen were ready, Drake paced down the line and returned beside Viscen, then looked back toward Pentheus. "Slaughter em'."
The bandits began to charge forward so that they could get in range to fire their bows. The axemen and nimble knife users followed behind and would charge at the entrances, then force their way passed the debris.
Drake patted Viscen on the shoulder. (he knew the kid would see it as a sign of approval, even though it wasn't) "You handle these guys for a while. I'll see ya later." Drake turned and began to walk away, followed by a good number of bandits.
It seemed that he was leaving the battle, after just arriving.

Ѵιscєη τңɛ мιяαġє Ғαℓcση ۞ -.-. you can't ħєℓp your ħαℓℓucιηα†ιηg мιηđ -.-.۞ ▀-.-.▀▀-.-▀▀▀-.▀▀▀▀-▀▀▀▀-▀▀▀▀-.▀▀▀-.-▀▀-.-.▀ At last they made it back to that damned Learanian city, Pentheus. Viscen stood with anticipation glaring at city’s stone walls. This was his last shot at redemption. No way in hell was he going lose a second time. It was humiliating that he had to come to Drake with his tail stuck between his legs. And thankfully, Drake had given him a second chance to give these Learanian scums the exact feeling he had dealt with.
He watched the bowmen quickly lined up under Drake's order. How impressive it was to see Drake ordered with such ease. This battle will end greatly with working alongside Drake.
The young bandit leader then felt eyes looking at him. Viscen turned his head to see Drake looking at him with presumed look. Hearing Drake's comment, he quickly realized his mistake."R-right!" Viscen quickly answered and lined up with the bowmen. Damn it he made a fool of himself in front of Drake. How can he make Drake proud of him if he dare to continue like this? The young bandit hoped that Drake won't compare him with that strange young man who was with that black guy Drake talked to earlier. That young man had weirdness written all over him.
Viscen pulled out his bow and arrow. As he pulled the arrow back and readied his position toward Pentheus, the young bandit watched Drake paced down the line before returning to his side. At the sound of Drake's command he released his arrow flied straight into Pentheus along with the volley of arrows.
Before he could join the bandits to rampage Pentheus again, he felt a hand patted on his shoulder. Viscen turned his head to see Drake. The young warrior let out a small smile. That was actually a good sign. A good pat on the shoulder. He did quite well at the opening fire, despite making a fool of himself.
His smile slowly changed to confuse when he listened the order. Drake wasn't coming to battle against these Learanians? This made the young bandit leader wanted to pout. He had wanted to work alongside with Drake again to take over Pentheus. But if he wanted to redeem himself, then he had to work extra to make Drake proud. He can't let his superior down again."Right! We'll get that port back before your return!" Viscen grinned cocky as he put away his bow and pulled out his Swordreaver. He was not going to fail this mission like last time. This time, he'll make sure that these Learanian bastards fell and retake the port into their hands again."Alright men, let's kill these bastards before our reinforcement arrive!" The young warrior shouted to the bandits, pumping his weapon into the air. Bandits cheered with him as Viscen began to charge toward Pentheus. He hoped he can retake the port before the black man's group arrived. He didn't want to share his glory if Drake returned.▀-.-.▀▀-.-▀▀▀-.▀▀▀▀-▀▀▀▀-▀▀▀▀-.▀▀▀-.-▀▀-.-.▀ ۞ -.-. you can't ħєℓp your ħαℓℓucιηα†ιηg мιηđ -.-. ۞ you can't ħєℓp your ħαℓℓucιηα†ιηg мιηđ when you start to †яємЬℓє in the scσяcħιηg ωιηđ

Needles stood, arms crossed, at the top of the highest sentry tower facing the desert. Pentheus was finally getting organized; she had put Crow and Large in charge of evacuating the few remaining civilians, and a dozen guardsmen were accompanying the fleeing citizens on the road to Eyris. Anyone who could fire a bow was lined up on the wall, and they had emptied the Pentheus armory of anything the bandits hadn't taken in order to equip them all. Down in the streets, men were boarding up holes in the wall, tossing furniture into shoddy, hastily-constructed barricades, and doing their best to block off streets and alleys the bandits could use to flank. Unfortunately, due to the Learanians' previous tactics used to get inside, simply lowering the portcullis on one of the gates was no longer an option. Needles was concentrating her forces at the western and northern gates.
She turned away from the desert, watching as furniture piled up in the streets, blocking off access routes in order to keep bandits on the main roads. She wanted to be sure the enemy was fighting on her terms. "One of two things will happen," she murmured to Lieutenant Cross, a recently-promoted halberdier. "I'm sure they'll try bows first, try to shoot over the wall and kill people on the other side. We've got the high ground on the wall, though, so our longbowmen can start hitting them first, and we'll keep our infantry up against the wall to keep them as safe as possible." She closed her eyes and exhaled slowly through her nose.
"After that, they'll try to come in. Bandits usually aren't too smart, but they're acting unusual, so I'm guessing they'll try both gates. Now, either... they'll send a large force to the north gate, since it was busted open, or they'll send their first wave to try and break through the west gate and try to get us to pull troops away from the north gate to deal with them."
"I... see, Captain." Lieutenant Cross shifted nervously. This whole business was new to her.
"I want you to oversee the north gate, along with Large." Technically, Needles should have used his real name in this situation, but more people recognized him as Large. "Archers on the wall as they approach, then down to the rooftops when they're nearly inside the city. Have pikers at the gates, with swordsmen spread out behind them. Understand?" She was leaning on the banister, once more facing the desert, watching as the mass of bandits gradually approached.
"Y-yes, ma'am!" Lieutenant Cross nervously saluted, then ran down the stairs, onto the top of the wall, and dashed along the ramparts on her way to the northern gate.
Needles closed her eyes. The bandits were getting closer, and were now nearly in range for the longbowmen.
"Ready, archers!" she shouted as only a drill sergeant can, letting her voice carry down to the eastern wall and watching as her men picked up their weapons, drew arrows from their quivers, and waited, watching.
Needles was pleased to see a large chunk of the bandits break off and turn back into the desert. "On my signal, you may fire at will!" she shouted before dashing down the stairs three at a time. She came out onto the wall and quickly climbed onto the arch above the west gate. In a matter of seconds, the expert sniper had her longbow drawn and strung, and nocked a heavy steel-tipped arrow.
The Amazonian guard captain waited as her troops fell silent, and the bandit horde resumed its march toward the city. "Let not one of them through," she murmured, then raised her voice until all could hear her. "We will hold this line! For Learania; for her people! Let them come, and let them die in the sand like dogs! Our brothers fell reclaiming this city!" She was shouting at the top of her lungs now, over the dull, chanting roar as troops throughout the city prepared themselves for the coming hell. "They have not died for nothing! When night falls, we will hold this city, even if it must be awash in Sentrian blood!"
She could no longer be heard. The entire city was a roar of anticipation, and suddenly Needles lined up her bow to the sun, drew her arm back until the arrowhead barely passed the bow itself, and loosed her first shot into the air, arcing high over the earth, gleaming brightly.
With the heavy thump of hundreds of strings snapping at once, the sky above the bandit horde was filled with a deadly rain.

The battle began just as planned and all the Learanian soldiers focused towards the gate under siege. Viscen was drawing them all away from where attention was needed.
Through the chaos of war, a smaller merchant ship waded through the water, several hours after the battle had begun. Nobody could be seen aboard it, making it seem to not be a threat. The wind pushed it into the docks harmlessly and all remained quiet.
Some soldiers would naturally see the ship and use caution by keeping at a distance at first. From inside, a cloaked figure slowly emerged and paced to the bow of the ship. The figure remained still as if it weren't real at first and was then accompanied by two more shady figures. Without warning, one of the cloaks was tossed into the air, revealing Drake standing with a prideful smirk. "...Go wild!"
The two cloaked figures behind Drake darted forward. Their daggers were revealed in the air and were used upon the first soldier they came upon. The Serpent Fang himself pulled out his massive blade, then leaped from the ship. He raised the sword in mid jump, then crashed it down on the group of soldiers who were caught by surprise. The cobblestone broke upon impact and sent cracks in the road going out several feet. The ground underneath turned red as the blood seeped out and filled in the holes.
From the ship, a group of axemen, swordsmen and other shady figures stormed out, shouting as they charged. They made their way passed the strangling soldiers and ran towards the gate, where most of their enemies were. Drake raised his blade and charged with them, his grin never vanishing for a moment.
How did he get in? It was simple. Tighearnach and his crew had captured several Learanian merchant ships even before the first siege on Pentheus. Drake had left one ship on the sandy shores outside the city, for if it was needed.
Whoever said Drake was leaving the battle?

Bandits line up and fire their own volley and charge quickly forward. The back and middle of the charge have to worry about the arrows raining down on them. The outer edges haul a** to barely dodge the arrows. So archers are mostly fine. Quite a few sword and dagger users go down. Viscen protects himself with the flat edge of his board headed axe. The other axe wielders do the same but some aren’t as lucky.
They finally reach the gate and eventually break through the barrier. Their numbers took a seriously huge hit. Only a third of Viscen’s group of thugs makes it into the city. "s**t. This isn't good." Viscen and a handful of his best men go to take out the archers and their leader on the western walls. They take the stairs or something. Ladders and ropes put them too much at a disadvantage.
Meanwhile Drake and the bandits he originally took come back attack the port part of Pentheus. The young warrior hears the screams of Learanian soldiers coming from that way and can only think that Drake’s back to give him a hand. He’s happy which boosts his confident making more deadly.▀-.-.▀▀-.-▀▀▀-.▀▀▀▀-▀▀▀▀-▀▀▀▀-.▀▀▀-.-▀▀-.-.▀ ۞ -.-. you can't ħєℓp your ħαℓℓucιηα†ιηg мιηđ -.-. ۞ you can't ħєℓp your ħαℓℓucιηα†ιηg мιηđ when you start to †яємЬℓє in the scσяcħιηg ωιηđ ((Crew, use your editing magic to make this shitty post meet your standards. Even more hours passed since the bandits infiltrated the gates and docks, when the soldiers and guild members that had gone with Deborah arrived on the scene of the battle. They looked in horror at how even without the reinforcements, the bandits had been able to get inside again.
The highest ranked of the group pushed his way to the front to see the sight for his own eyes. A gasp escaped him. Things did not seem to be hopeless, though, and it was definitely possible for Captain Needles to drive off the enemies. However, she wasn't aware of Mordache being on their way. Once that army arrived, there would no longer be any hope for victory. Mordache would kill them all. Everything they worked for would be a waste. The course of action was obvious- Captain Needles had to be informed of the approaching doom so that she could sound a retreat.
The officer turned to the group. "Those with wounded, keep going toward Eyris! Everyone else, with me! We have to get news to Captain Needles!"
The guard soldiers followed after their officer. They wouldn't stop any guild members from coming if those individuals felt inclined to help, but they weren't going to ask them to come. The path they took brought them to the other gate that had not been assaulted. If they had gone straight in, the bandit archers would have eradicated them.
At said gate, they ran into Lieutenant Cross. The newly arrived officer addressed her as quickly as possible. "The bandits.... they're..." He tried catching his breath as he spoke, making his message slow to come out. "They're not our only problem! Mordache... is coming with... a huge army! We cannot hold the city against it! We have to retreat! Where's Captain Needles?! She... needs to be informed! Can I rely on you to do that?"

It was bad enough that the tiger was injured and was forced to flee from the Mordachean army without any stop to rest. But when he and the others came back to Pentheus to see bandits inside, it made him wanted to roar in curse.
Damnit! He thought that whoever was left in charge at Pentheus would be able to handle the first wave. How the hell did that happen? Whoever was in charge of hiring the officers in those positions did a terrible job. However, that was not his concern to complain about. Right now, he needed to heal his injure and then deal with these bastards inside the city.
His ears gave a twitch when he heard one of the soldiers gave out an order. Oh, yeah. The other didn't know about the Mordachean army. Eh, let someone else deal with it. Besides, it wasn't like he was part of an army or a messenger. He just volunteered to fight.
Although the soldier ordered those who were injured to continue heading toward Eyris, the tiger's wound was just nearly healed up. So show he just do what the guy ordered him or do whatever he was pleased?
...
Eh, someone give him some healing portions, he needed to let his frustration out. Sure, it would slow him down a little, but at least now he was able to fight.
He asked one of the injured soldiers if he had vulnerary. Luckily, the soldier was carried an extra one. Heh, talked about luck. The tiger asked the soldier to apply the vulnerary onto his back, seeing that he couldn't reach his injure. After the soldier applied it onto his back and handed him the vulnerary, the tiger thanked him and headed out to follow those who were readied to fight.
If they ever came across bandits down the path, he would be the first one to strike. Being unable to fight in his true form after his injure made him anxious and pumped up.

So they made it back to Pentheus. Were they going to make a stand here in the town or something? Wait...there were still sounds of combat. They didn't take care of the first wave yet? Gah...Beorcs. Then again, bandits are troublesome enough as it were...
He took this brief opportunity to try to control his hair. The thunder he took had caused it to be frizzy, and the sandy winds from before was only ruining the soft, silky feel. After a few minutes of fighting it, he gave up, throwing his hands up in the air. Fine! He'll go with frizzy hair for a little longer!
He wasn't too badly injured, as most of the light injuries he had taken had already healed up. Sunil could probably stick around a little longer. Then again...those medicinal herbs sitting in his bag were probably...no. They could last just a little longer. He could always blame the bandits and the war for messing up the delivery.
After looking around a little more, he found the tiger he had teamed up with.
"Hey, don't overdo it, nya. I'll support ya, as usual." he told Rajin.

Since a proper Needles post has yet to be given by the time this post is being written, Drake kicked Learanian a**. He kicked so much a**, that it seemed he made the army retreat. He let them go for the time being. What confused him was why Ali hadn't shown up. It wasn't a concern. It just seemed odd. But it didn't affect how things played out.
Once the battle was over and done, Drake proceeded to the obvious next course of action... to rest. He'd been on his feet for days on end. He and his men needed to rest before continuing on to the next phase. A good old nap and some food was just what Drake needed. The day had winded down, so even the Learanians would have to stop for the night and rest.
When the sun rose back into the sky, the Serpent Fang was on his feet and ready to go. He rounded up his men and began to set out. He made Viscen stay at Pentheus to keep it under Sentrian control. The difference from last time was that Drake was headed deeper into Learania, not leaving it. Enemy soldiers wouldn't even be able to try to take that city back.
From the gates of Pentheus, a wave of bandits poured out and scattered in different directions. Their orders were simple: Raid and pillage all cities and villages they came across. As for Drake, he took a fair sized group of his own and went after the retreating Learanians. He was on their tail... and would catch up to them soon.
