when we did aladdin at our school I played the genie and well like our third performance...I was playing the genie that night and we were at the part where jafar gets sucked into the lamp and the genie hucks it off stage. so I throw the lamp and i didnt throw it high enough so it hit the sultan square in the face....and thank goodness he was a strong kid so his face just turend red...there was silence on stage for what felt like hours and it sucked cause the entire cast was on stage and i was in so much shock that I totally broke character and I was like "Oh....s**t!" it was really sad but nobody really liked the guy who played the sulten at the time so they all congragulated me. it sucked so bad. Oh and also my shoes kept falling apart in that show...it kinda sucked but it was fun now that I look back on it.

Ahh this one is pretty bad, I was filling in for a techie and only had one night of experiance, io was supposed to move a house on to the stage along with a huge heavy coat rack and a pail ful of really heavy nails...well I rushed and put the house a couply feet off it's mark, not a huge problem, but still...I went to get the coat rack but it was too heavy so I decided I wuold leavt the pail behing (big mistake) another girl didn't think I could get it onstage on time so she took it, tripped over the house and ALMOST dropped the nails, screws and what ever other pointy objects were in the pail. I almost died,,,she split her knee open...and I got yelled at and everyone was laughing at me... Remember kids...next time move the house AND the coat rack at the same time so you can move the pail before lights up...

When I was in Guys and Dolls I had a solo dance during Luck Be a Lady and when I went to do a spin I fell on a dice.I screamed so loud that I just stood there and turned red.I started to laugh and I finished the dance.

When I did my devised piece for drama last term, the whole thing was really embarassing. Firstly, in the second scene, everyone had to do this really slutty dance. Then, a couple of scenes later, the person I was supposed to be talking to started talking before she even got on stage so no one heard her. Finally, at the end, we all stood around a gravestone reading 'RIP Kelsy Beloved Daugter and Friend.'

I'm never doing a devised piece again. Or leaving Kelly in charge of props.

In my last play, we didn't have enough time to work with the light and sound people...So when the storm sounds were going on, They let down the movie screen, which wasn't supposed to happen. The other actor on the stage and I just stood there like statues untill they got it fixed, but it was sooooo embarrassing...

In the same play, our male lead had come down with a fever...So there was a part when he had to lay down on a bed, and I had to sing...after I finished singing, he was supposed to say his line, but on this day, he took a very long pause...So we all thought that he had passed out...Thankfully, he was just being dramatic, but it was very close to a disaster!

The guy playing Harker in Dracula this fall started laughing hysterically just before he put the stake through Dracula's heart.....the other high schools there started laughing and didnt stop for the rest of the show. we all wanted to murder him.

I'm not sure if this one counts as it happened backstage. I recently played a little boy in our school play, and since I am not a little boy I had to bind my breasts flat so they didn't show. After the show I was hiding behind a blanket in the corner (there were no dressing rooms) trying to get the bindings off, when my male director walked right up in front of me and started talking to me. It took him all of three seconds to realize that I was topless. I was so embarassed!

In the production of Sweeney Todd that I saw, during 'Johanna' with Sweeney and Anthony, one of the guys Sweeney kills and sends into the hole hit his back REALLY hard as he was going through the trapdoor. It was like WHAM! And it was kinda distressing. o_o;

I guess the worst would be when Harker started laughing when he was about to stab dracula with a stake.... That show was just bad all around

Oh my god, the worst one I have seen yet:
On the night of our final dress rehearsal for Wonderful Town, the two main women were about to do 'Ohio', which is about the 3rd number, I think. they were 'in their apartment', and I think someone had just gotten off the catwalk-type platforms we were using as part of the set, and ONE OF THE FLATS FELL DOWN. Not completely and not on anyone, thankfully, but some techies and some actors had to run out and hold it up until the next set change. @_@

Also, during that production, in another one of our dress rehearsals, I was changing my costume in the girls' dressing room, and one of the guys ran in and asked if he knew where the tape was so that he could affix his mic correctly. It took me a moment to realize I wasn't completely dressed. He was not fazed... sweatdrop I told him I didn't know where the tape was and he walked off. He apologized later, though. He was real nice about it. ^ ^;;;

We (my friends and I) saw a production of Thoroughly Modern Millie at Festival and the girl who was playing Millie I guess was getting sick because her voice was getting worse and worse the whole show and finally at the end of Gimme Gimme it cracked and she couldn't hit the last line. I felt soooo bad for her!

During theater camp one year I was Paul Bunyan's ox (Bell?) That whole show was embarrassing. My whole part was composed of stomping around on my hands and knees and shouting "MOOOOOOO".

This didn't happen to me but it happend to a friend. During a performance of "Seven brides for seven brothers" the brothers take their wives and run across stage holding them over their heads. Well one guy dropped his girl on her head and when he bent down to help her up he fell on top of her and they got into a tangled mess of him inside her dress and her kicking him. Then the next night during our final dance the two leads run up to the front of the stage and dance. And the guy holds the girl low to the ground and steps over her and then tosses her in the air and she lands on her feet and dances, well instead of that happening, he fell on her face crotch first, and she screamed and freaked out and they both ran off stage until the curtain call.

During our production for Rumors, I fully walked into a table in the dark. The lights had gone out and Iw as trying to get off stage. There was alot fo clapping, them BAM! and I move dthe table a full foot and knocked everything over. The Tech guys got it, so it was okay.

But also, I have a bit of a tradition. I always seem to rip a pair of my pants in the musical I'm in. In Les Mis, I had to climb on on the cart before I killed myself, (I was Javert, by the way,) and I cut them on the side of my leg.
In Suessical, (I was General Schmitz) I moved to sit down, and tore the crotch all the way down my leg to about my Knee. I have no idea how I did it, but I hide it well enough. I will never make that mistake again...

However, Theatre is an all around good time.

While in dress rehearsal for Annie I was singing "Tomorrow" and my techie friends were in the back making weird faces at me so I started laughing on the last note and my director totally started chewing me out in front of everyone...it was not fun.

One Long Story

PostPosted: Fri Jun 01, 2007 9:23 pm

i work tech for a summer camp and tonight we had the final dress rehearsal for their opening celebration. for one skit, the girl is using a lavalier microphone with a beltpack reciever. she has the reciever in her back pocket and starts putting her costume dress on over her counselor's uniform. she forgot to turn the mic on. she bends over, sticking her butt out to the person next to her and says "can you turn this on?"

we died laughing.
