Will winced a little as she buried her face against him. Something inside his shirt poking at him cause of it. Still he said nothing of his discomfort and just stood there. Eventually he put a hand on her shoulder in a comforting gesture.
"Because I don't think you're a quitter. Everyone else goes through heartbreak at least some point in their lives, and everyone feels like giving up. But in the end, giving up will just cause more regrets and more pain. I don't want to see that happen to you."

Her eyes half closed, Kofuku listened to him, finding that the sound of Will's heartbeat was relatively soothing. And then there was his voice, and his kind words, and it made her want to just close her eyes and revert back to being a small child. Everything was starting to feel safe, but she knew it was just an illusion. As soon as she left this spot, reality was going to b***h slap her around everywhere.
"I still don't get it, Will." She paused a bit, staring off through her half closed eyes at nothing in the distance. "Why do you care so much about this? You just said yourself earlier that you hardly know me."

There was a sigh and Will put his other hand on Kofuku's other shoulder and gently pushed her away. He had said that, and he stood by everything he had said earlier.
"That doesn't mean I can't be your friend, and that's why I care. Friends are supposed to care for each other, right?" He smiled a little and then took a step back. He didn't want her to get the wrong idea after all.
"Even if you don't get it right away, at least think it through." He paused, "So how about the beach? Time's a wasting."

Feeling herself being pushed away, Kofuku looked up at him with a slightly confused expression. As his words fell into her ears and her mind processed them, a very small smile tugged at the corner of her mouth; she should get what he meant right away, after all, she was the one who right after meeting her neighbor became best friends with the girl she had hardly known.
"The beach sounds good, Willy." She reached over and gave his hand a soft, appreciative squeeze, before letting it go just as quickly as she had grabbed it. "I forgot the sunscreen though; I'm going to look like a tomato when we get back."

Will blinked once at the squeeze to his hand, figuring it was an appreciative gesture and simply smiled in return. When she mentioned forgetting her sunscreen though, he fished a small tube of it from his pocket and tossed it Kofuku's way.
"I brought some, you can use it if you want. No need to go back with a sunburn if you can help it."
With that, he led the way back to the boardwalk and to the beach.

Catching the tube lightly in her hands, she turned it over to see the strength. "SPF 70?! I had no idea they even made it that high! What are you, part albino or something?" Popping the cap open, she squirted some of it out and smeared it all over her arms and face, then hopped on one foot as she tried to keep up with him while rubbing it into her legs.

Will rolled his eyes a little behind his visor. "No, I just don't see a lot of sun." He held out his pale arms as evidence to this fact. "Living underground kinda does that to you. And believe me, they make it higher than that." He'd seen 100 SPF in the stores before, but that was a bit too extreme. He kept his pace slow as she hopped around trying to get the sunblock on.

The cap snapped back onto the tube and she handed it back to him as she stumbled a little to catch herself on both feet. "Well, we could change that, you know? Maybe it'll be Tofu-and-Willy-Friday or something. We can try to get our free days on the same days and just hang out and cause some mischief."
Suddenly, she clapped her hands together. "I have an idea! We can get you some paintball guns! Or maybe both of us can go into Airsoft or something! That's always fun, and I love paintballing!"

Will was quiet as he pondered this, simply letting her talk as they came upon the sand and started walking across the beach. Despite the crowds, there was just something soothing about the crisp sea air and the sound of the waves against the shore.
"Paintball?" Will asked uncertainly, not entirely sure how open he was to that idea. "I've never played before, actually."

"Really? You've never heard of it?" Kofuku stared at him in shock, considering it was mostly guys she knew that actually played it; it was expensive, especially for the amo, which is why she tended to break into stores at night and steal them instead of purchasing them. "You get these guns and you shoot balls of paint at each other. They sell things like helmets and other safety things, but I don't bother waisting money on that crap; safety is for suckers."
She kicked up the sand a little, giggling as she felt the warm grains between her toes; she loved the beach. "I wonder if all the beaches here use the same type of sands."

"Oh no, I've heard of it," Will replied as she started to explain. "I've just never played it, that's all." He rolled his shoulders in a shrug. It was just one of those things that he had never tried. One among many really, but then there was only so many things that a person could be good at or have time to try.
He chuckled lightly as she then started commenting about the sand. "Well, sand is different depending upon location and geography. Sand is made from rock, shells, and other debris that are broken up by the surf. Depending on what its made out of determines the color and consistency. I've seen beaches with black sand and even green sand."

"Green sand?! That's crazy talk!" She laughed a little, then sighed, looking ahead to the waves. "I hope, maybe one day I'll get to see something like that, but I don't think that they have any of it here. I'd probably have to go somewhere far away for it." And if that's what it meant, she'd probably never get to see it. There was no way she was going to ever leave the HQ; it was the only real home she had.
"Will you ever go and see that beach with the green sand again?"

Will smirked, "It sounds weird but its real. Its made from a stone called Olivine." He then rolled his shoulders yet again. "I don't really know if there's beaches like that around here or not. But maybe so."
Her question drew a raised brow as he turned to look at Kofuku. "I probably will someday, but I don't really know when for sure. The green beach I saw was actually pretty far from here."

A small smile came over Kofuku's lips and she bit her bottom lip as she twirled a little piece of hair. "The next time that you go... would you bring me back a little bit of sand? I wanna see it for my own eyes, and I don't think I'll ever go away that far from the HQ."
Her eyes caught the dark clouds that were beginning to come in from over the waves, and she frowned a little. "That doesn't look good."

Her request drew a small smile from Will as well. "We'll see." The red head putting his hands in his pockets and humming a light tune to himself as he went. The talk of the green sand beaches suddenly had his mind far from there, bringing back memories.
However, Kofuku's next words suddenly snapped him out of his reverie to look up at the sky just as a rumble of thunder sounded. "I guess I should have checked the weather forecast. We better get back to the car before it starts raining."
And indeed, several of the beach goers were already starting to pack up.
