"Salads are fine too," Dacj said, shrugging. She was actually surprised that Sorcha seemed as carnivorous as...well, someone like Seth. It was certainly against type, but...well, which of the Hytes wasn't, in some way or another? "If you insist, Ms. Carnivorous Carnivore," she teased, before blinking. "Sorcha, you do realize veal is baby cow, right?"

Dacj was honestly surprised at the semantic quibble, but she could perhaps understand the intent (even if she thought it was a bit silly to be so particular). "I'll try and remember to adjust my terminology," she said, blinking. "Well, not really--but I think the whole point is by eating something you are creating demand and thus more will be slaughtered to meet that demand," she said, shrugging. "You don't have to have a problem with it the way I do; I was just pointing out the irony."

Ah, and there it was--the worrying. If she could annoy Sorcha before they even managed a date, how long would they really last? It was inevitable some of the fretting was visible to her companion, even if Dacj was trying to hide it from her.

Dacj made a wry face. "You know, the book people recommend about half the time to others considering polyamory is titled 'The Ethical Slut'," she said, rolling her eyes. Now was probably not a good time to get into the splits of that community though...

"Mm, I can understand that," she said, though of course she didn't entirely agree. Sorcha'd make a good farmer though? What was it they said...farmers made the best soldiers because they were ruthless (or practical) enough to nurture creatures from infancy to slaughtering them as adults? 'Ruthless' was a trait she was hesitant to assign to Sorcha, but it would certainly seem the cow had a very...practical approach (that may or may not be devoid of moral standard). "So, meaty meat main course and pie for dessert. And then a movie. Sounds good to me," she said, guiding the conversation once more back on tangent.

"It's the difference between the 'sex positive' and 'polyfidelity' camps," Dacj said, shrugging. She was very, very polyfi. "I don't mind Toy Story but I don't think it's as...dark as you are perhaps hoping for it to be," she admitted, scratching her head absently. "We can always just go to the theatre, close our eyes and spin round and see which movie poster we end up pointing at?"

"It has been done before," Dacj said, shaking her head. Given that Sorcha had glossed over the subject before, she was surprised yet again that Sorcha actually wanted her to explain, but it was a fair request. "In the very simplest of terms, the 'sex positive' camp is the one more likely to engage in casual sex. Whereas 'polyfidelity' is a lot like monogamy, only with more than one partner. If you want to get more into the details, I'd do research on your own, really." As for her tent...she couldn't help but snerk at the extended metaphor. "Really now, with my issues, you think I'm going to be cavorting about willy-nilly? I am so polyfi it is not even funny. I'd be properly monogamous if I didn't think loving different people brings out different strengths and expands relationships in ways monogamy doesn't." She turned more serious as she offered Sorcha a rueful smile. "I will tell you if there's anyone else--before anything happens. I'd ask the same of you, if you find someone else you'd like to date. That's really all there is to it."

Dacj chuckled. "Girl talk over wine--you do play hardball." She was actually very interested in such a notion, if only because she didn't have anyone besides her mother to talk over such things with. And that...well, she loved her mother, but some things you just didn't want to tell the person who'd raised you. "Don't have to get me under the influence for that, all you'd have to do is ask. Hmm, and maybe bribe me a bit, but I couldn't even name a bribe right now." She flushed; partially from a guilt reflex and more because of the compliment. "I'm glad you think so--I'm afraid I may take more convincing." Somehow she didn't think Sorcha would take needing to 'convince' her as a bad thing though...

"Hey, it was your mind that chose to walk that path! I was thinking something more innocent--truffles, maybe," Dacj said with a laugh. She was inordinately pleased over the light kiss, and half beamed at Sorcha in reply. "I never said you had a motive~! Wine, sitting by a fireplace--why do we not have a fireplace here?--, curled up under blankets...it's a very romantic image. Apropos indeed!"
