They're called TIE Defenders. They're also expensive as hell.
I personally think a CR90 is perfect. Sure, it's a bit big, size-wise. But also figure, we'll be out there for a long while, making few if any ports. We can carry extra supplies, extra equipment, and have more room to utilize for ourselves. Plus, it gives us room to pick people up if we need to.
And yes, don't underestimate the CR90. It's one of the most popular ships, military or civilian, in the galaxy for a reason. Sure, you saw one kick the bucket in the first 10 minutes of Star Wars, but for the most part they're all very reliable and battle worthy.

Nice thing at least, is aside from Rodyn and a bit of skeptism from Nelo, everyone seems to like the KoToR plot. >>

You know there are some purpose built scout ships you could do a CR90 is a bit big for an explore ship, and considering that the Chiss only had ships around that big up until around the Vong War and they're the largest military force in the unknown regions, it'd be a bit powerful for the setting.

I'm sure there are, I was just picking one I knew off hand, that would be usable by a crew of 20.
Of course, it'd hardly be optimal use. Unless we had some major slave circuitry, we'd likely be very undermanned in any fight

I'm in.
The CR90 is a good ship for this sort of thing, but Stellar is right, it has the potential to be a little dominating. I say we keep looking around till we find something that fits the bill.

How about a ship like Serenity? Interestingly enough, it appears that Firefly-class transports are in Star Wars canon.Seems like a good enough ship. Plenty of storage space and personal quarters. Small enough to not require too large of a crew.

I even dabbled with the idea of an "effect limit". Meaning, you only get x amount of personal items.
Like, 1 gun, 1 set of armor. Or 1 gun, 1 grenade launcher. Or 1 surgical kit, 1 small (stock) speederbike.
In short, a way to coerce cooperation or something.

That could be explained in the story as rationing in order to ensure there's enough for everyone. Like, disallowing a soldier to hog all the firepower and leaving anyone defenseless, etc.

I like all these ideas. I don't mind taking a few pages from past RPs. The Firefly roleplay was good but it didn't move along. We all had too much stuff and too many preexisting ideas. I like what Nelo is saying about the limit on goods and belongings.
Plus we need a strong Gm with compelling events and to kick our butts when we start to bicker.
Honestly, I need a good roleplay to take my mind of things.

I'm just thinking it's probably something different to fight the chiss instead of the empire, Ebruchi instead of Trandoshan slavers, and so on. Plus, aside from the variety, it also doesn't call for a lot of weapons, gear, and logisitical nightmares to exist. Worlds where rocks and slingshots can be just as deadly as the largest of armies.
And nothing says we have to start at the unknown regions; funny thing is that there's quite a few places even in the known galaxy that could use a better lane to travel, or hold their culture hidden. *coughgalaxyoffearcough* Such as Hapes, Dathomir, Mykrr, and whatnot. Just need a ship large enough to haul us across the galaxy. Doesn't even need to be a military gunship like a CR 90. An Action V would do us just as nicely.
