"No ... but that way is that way." He shook his head slightly. Maybe if there was some bit of luck somewhere in this creepy place he could scuff the underbrush and leave some sort of trail that could keep them on the right track.
"Yes you can come down." He scuffed up a bit of the brush at his feet and started off in the direction Marx had pointed. A castle was better than this place. So long as it wasn't Dracula or Frankenstein's at least.

Marx works his way down as quickly as he feels safe doing, dropping the last couple of feet with the crunch of twigs and other dead plant material under his feet. He wipes his hands on his vest to get any bark that might be sticking into his palms knocked off, and hurries to catch up.
"Don't just walk off and vanish like that guy did." That would be very not-cool. It was enough wok to find someone else in the first place, he didn't want to end up alone again. "It'll be dark before we get there, won't it."

The forest stretched out in front of them, endless and black. Above them they could hear the occasional cry of a raven.
[Congratulations! You have completed the puzzle section of the Introduction Stage and your characters are on the path to Vetrel. You are now free to write and explore as you please. The forest from here is as black and barren and inhospitable as ever and the carcasses of mauled animals can be found periodically -- and the sun is, as ever, setting. As long as your characters continue to travel in the same direction, they will arrive at Stage One when Stage One begins.]
