Bostian I can never comment on water types, since the only one I like are Squirtle and Tododile. And that's only because I love their anime persona ^^;
Totodile was my favorite water-type starter, and Swampert is definitely a nasty Pokemon to tango with in the metagame. I agree about the anime Squirtle, I just wish I could add the Black Glasses item onto my in-game squirtle and visually see a "Squirtle Squad" Squirtle, despite the fact that it would benefit the Squirtle any more than a little added damage to say the move Bite. xd

I'm with you on the otter being Water/Ice. The look of it and the similarities to past Water/Ice type really give it away.
I think the Pig is interesting. It's not really new (Spoink/Grumpig), but it's interesting. I hope it isn't Fire/Dark (We've got Houndoom for that one), and Fire/Fighting is getting old fast (Blaziken was cool. Infernape is pretty much the same with higher stats and a monkey tail). Maybe it will be Fire/Psychic? It does have the tail orb, and the other Pig pokemon is a Psychic type. It would be a nice change, and perhaps give Infernape a run for its money.
The Grass type is called the grass snake pokemon, so I will not be surprised if it turns out to be a 5th Gen Venusaur. A Grass/Flying type would be nice...Tropius already holds that typing, and I'm not sure of it's battle prowess, so I can't say if this new starter would be better than Tropius or not. Being pure grass would be an option for it, but since all the 4th gen starters turned out to have dual type evolutions, I'm not expecting it to be so.
So....Zoroark has an ability called Illusion...now that we know how it does it, the question is, how does it work? Is it random (which would suck)? Can you control it? Does it only work on certain pokemon? Time for the discussion to commence!
So...the new region is currently called the Isshu region? Sounds like "issue". If it does, that would open up the worst joke of all...some haters may decide to call it the tissue region or something crazy like that...Still, I hope there is more to its picture than the city-so-big-it-makes-goldenrod-look-like-new-bark-town. The electrified cave in one of the scans was pretty cool...you could easily imagine Luxray living in a place like that....

I've heard of everything from the Grass Snake Pokemon to the Grass Lizard Pokemon, so right now it's all just speculation. I think a Grass/Flying or Grass/Dragon would be keen, though the idea of mono-typed starters isn't unheard of.
Swampert is Water/Ground and Blaziken is Fire/Fighting even though Sceptile is mono-grass. Charizard is Fire/Flying and Venusaur was Grass/Poison even though Blastoise is mono-water. With that being said, all bets are off in the consistency of mono-types vs dual-types of Pokemon starters.

That is true, and all the Johto starters ended up mono-type. Still, I can't help but think that the trend leaning towards dual-type final evos....

Im pretty sure it was confirmed that he is a grass snake pokemon and the water one is an otter type. I didn't like them at first but they are starting to grow on me the more I look at them, I kind of like the water fella I just hope his evolved forms are a bit more...awesome XD

If only the mouth of the water type was cuter, I'd pick it... But since I don't like the fire pig and I chose piplup last time, guess I'm stuck with grass XD. (pattern of my picking? Silver(and SS)=Grass, Ruby=Fire, Pearl=Water, ????=Grass)

I think they are actually more closer to Axolotls, in which do have arm/leg like appendages. Though to further defend my arguement of semantics, Mudskippers do have pectoral fins in which they use to walk on land. Check and mate, friend. pirate
