i don't know if anyone has said this yet, but here's how you tell if it's from a real person:
if when you click it on your items screen it says "from ____" then it's real.
if it says "bottle mail" its npc.

how exactly do you send out bottle mesages? I know you get a bottle, write in it, and throw it in the river; so do you need to access the internet thing or something?
