He shook his head amiably. "It is no trouble at all, my girl. I was heading back myself. Why don't you walk with me?" he asked, gesturing vaguely ahead, along the road. He put a little piece of worn paper that had likely once been a beautiful bookmark in between the pages of his book before closing it and putting it in his messenger bag. He started to walk towards the school again. "How are you?" Polite small talk. Easy enough.

Zero frowned from his perch atop the Tower's main building. He could feel the power of the Obelisk, and he knew that people would be coming. Maybe not today, nor tomorrow.. But someday, people would come for it. He stretched up, his back cracking repeatedly. He grinned dreamily. Looking around, he tried to find someone to speak to. Although, he didn't think he saw anyone. This made him frown. His Silver eyes scanned around once more, the purple sparks crazy. The moon hit his silver clothing, and his figure was clearly visible atop the tower.

"Oh! T-thank you!" Really? What a huge relief! She had been afraid she might be wandering out and around here all day... "I'm well." Melody smiled. "...Aside from getting lost that is, I'm really sorry for imposing on you like this." The book had caught her interest. It was obviously very well read. "Y-you may need to have that re-bound soon. It looks like it's starting to fall apart."

Athena approached the young man who seemed to be looking for something or someone. "Hello," she greeted cordially. "My name is Shekaina De Boer. Are you new?" Of course, Shekaina De Boer was simply her alias. She was in disguise, after all. She played the part, currently, of a South African immigrant.

Eli blinked and looked back at the book. "...Yes, I suppose you're right," he said. "Ah, well. I can take care of that when we get to the school. I'm sure Shekaina--ah, Miss De Boer would know a good remedy." Well, he hoped so. She was the librarian, after all.

((We appear to have a minor continuity error between posts. It is daytime, if I had to say something, I'd say around noon.
Also, we could use more students... sort of odd that we have more teachers than most of the schools... and almost no students.))

((Eh? Is there? I had assumed it was still rather early in the day, myself. Still good to know.))
Melody nodded.
"Of course! She's sure to know a good book binder. All of the tomes in the library are in such a good condition after all..." She sighed a little wistfully. The library was here favorite place in the whole school. You could often find her there pouring over some dusty manuscript. It was almost certain that the librarian knew her fairly well by this point...even if the amiable girl tended to keep to herself there, choosing to exist almost purely in the realm of the novel.

Eli chuckled slightly and gave a bit of a nod. "They truly are." Soon enough, they reached the school grounds. "Here we are, Melody. I've got to go to my office now, but it was nice to speak with you." He smiled at her. "I hope you have a nice day."

((Semi-reserved for Cuwen))
Deena was moving quickly as her diamond made a noise, and she glanced down at it, not noticing as she ran straight through a downed tree. It was a large enough tree that a large car probably would've been stopped by it. Thanks to the power of her Chariot card, she was moving far faster than just about any vehicle on the planet could hope to move. The school's new headmistress was moving at a speed that she shattered the tree into a few trillion pieces.
((Deena: *pushes up glasses* 9,287,186. Don't exaggerate.))
She slowed to a stop, coming to a halt in front of an ordinary tree, putting her hand to the diamond and tapping it. The necklace that was hanging from the pendant was actually full of technology that amplified what the diamond could manage to do, using its own energies to fuel the computer. A projection appeared in front of her, a message appearing on the 'screen' as it were. She sighed and tapped her foot in annoyance. She wasn't expected until the next day now, and her office and rooms were still being worked on. She supposed there was probably a hotel or something back in the town, but first she'd take a look at the woods around the building....
She glanced around for a moment, she sensed that there was something in the woods. More specifically, someone. She touched the diamond again. "Find and analyze," she said, a 3-D layout of the forest appearing in front of her, several energy signatures appeared, her own included, but she isolated on one that seemed rather... untapped. A majority of the magic this close to the school would be well contained inside the wielder, but this didn't seem to be the case for this one.
Several words appeared above the figure in an ancient runic language Deena had re-discovered. She was one of the few people, that she was aware of (if not the only person) on the planet capable of reading the language. She nodded at the information that could be gained from the traces of energy the being was tracing. Namely that it was a girl with some minor details about her powers. She took her hand off the diamond, the grid vanishing and starting to head towards the girl.

{{Thanks Woonren! biggrin }}
Bayarose was currently in her white fox form. She had heard a commotion in the forest somewhere. It sounded like a tree... exploding? Great. It must be more land surveyors.
She was planning on going back home to get her people to fend off the surveyors, but then she noticed a blur of light stop nearby. Baya could already tell that this person was very powerful. Magic energy was practically flowing off her. Well, it was either flowing off of her or something she was carrying/holding. And she was moving in Baya's direction.
She bounced up into a nearby tree and waited on one of the higher limbs. She wrapped her fluffy tail around her and squatted down as she looked down at the ground and waited for the woman to get closer so that Baya could inspect her better with her eyes.

Deena looked around... she couldn't find what she was sensing exactly. She put her gloved hand on the diamond again, this time feeling her powers being amplified as she activated its original purpose. "Analyze," she said, her glasses turning into a targeting system and showing her the exact species of every plant around her. There were no animals or it would show them as well. At least, there weren't any at ground level. She turned her gaze upward, into the moving leaves of the tree.
The species names of several birds and small animals and she easily dismissed most of them. However, there was a name that was out of place... Alopex lagopus, the arctic fox. She guessed it could be a pet, but she wanted to check it out anyway. "Enhance and Magnify," she said. The lens zoomed in on the creature, and she tossed the pet idea out the window.
If it had been a pet, it would have changed its white fur for another color more useful for hunting in the forest environment. She narrowed the choices by looking at its energy signiture, it was what she had seen in her scan. So, that left a familiar or a shape-shifter, no non-familiar animal had that level of power. She brought her ungloved hand to the hilt of the rapier. She formed a very fine disk of energy above her index finger.
With a flick of her wrist, she sent the disk flying upward and cutting through the thick branch the fox was sitting on like a hot machete through a stick of butter. She extended her hand in the spot she estimated the fox would fall to. She needed a better look at her.
((Sorry if you don't like the scientific name. xP I can change it and I tried to ask you before I posted....))

{{It's ok! It sounds fine to me. smile }}
Baya suddenly felt cornered as the woman's eyes zeroed in on her. Crud. She had been spotted. She couldn't run. She'd be easily caught. The energy wave coming off of this woman was very strong, so Baya probably wouldn't be able to get away.
Her choice was soon made for her, though. The woman threw something at the branch she was sitting on, and before she could jump away, the woman reached up and caught her.
When the woman brought Baya closer to her, Baya narrowed her eyes and started to hiss, baring her small white fox teeth. She would try to get out of this on her own before she called for backup.

Deena pushed her glasses up with her middle finger, seeing the fox bare her fangs to the powerful sage. She knelt down, setting the fox on the ground, her ungloved hand staying on the rapier though. If she needed to, she would put her in a box of energy if she needed to. Still, that would be only if she decided she was going to run before she got the information out of her she wanted. And with either of the two options that she believed it was, the creature would be able to communicate with her. So long as they spoke English, or either of the other two languages she knew.
There was, of course, always the chance that she was wrong, but she didn't think she was. One of the few other options being that someone had stored their magic in the fox for some reason or other. Still, that didn't seem all that likely. A fox wasn't the easiest thing to store your magic in, a living being wasn't easy to store energy in in general, but it would be hard in something as slippery as the fox. Even taking into account using more magic to keep it asleep during the rather painful process.
"I know you can understand what I'm saying," she said simply, looking down at the creature. "So how about you tell me why you exude so much power?" she asked. "Are you a familiar, or a shape-shifter?" she added. She wasn't the slightest bit embarrassed about being wrong. If she was, the fox wouldn't be telling anyone that she was trying to talk to something that wouldn't talk back. And she'd bring her with her to the hotel and try and see why it exuded so much power....

Baya was just about to run as she was set down on the ground, but at the woman's first sentence, Baya paused in shock. This woman knew that she could understand her? Her magic must be very strong to tell the difference between a woodland animal and a shapeshifter.
But that didn't mean that she had to respond! It was a rule of her people. They should not, under any circumstances, speak to anyone unless they were in a position of authority, and even then, it was only when the situation required it.
So, Bayarose crouched down in a defensive position, bared her teeth again, and started to hiss at the woman.

Deena crossed her arms, seeing that the fox was no longer preparing to run away, but was still growling, she guessed that she was curious. Meaning she did in fact speak English... or at least understood it. She guessed that she was a shape-shifter, most familiars would've at least made a comment about her reckless use of magic. It was rather reckless, and in any other situation it wouldn't have worked most likely. But, the girl was untrained and had been caught unawares.
She touched the diamond, snapping all the safety limits on her powers and let it flow from her in the form of a massive aura. Someone who was just slightly sensitive would be able to feel it a mile away. Someone who was very sensitive would be suffocating from it at that distance. After a few seconds she reduced the power significantly, rebuilding her safety limits, and she doubted she would have to do it again for quite a while. She didn't like showing off like that, but she supposed it was one way to get her to listen to her.
"If I wanted to hurt you I would have leveled this entire forest to a pile of ash," she said simply. "I am just curious about your power and it was the quickest way to get you down." She pushed up her glasses again and added, "So will you return to your normal form and answer my question? Or will you continue to refuse the new Headmistress of the Tower?" She figured if she was a student that would get her to speak up with her. If not, it would show that she was skilled enough to use the power she had just demonstrated.
((That's going to have a few repercussions... Just about any of you with any amount of magical talent are going to be able to feel what she just did. May not have been the most efficient thing to do, but it was the quickest and probably effective))
