Talare smiled as she walked into the Gather. This was the first one she'd attended in a long time, and from the looks of things this was to be a grand ocasion. She swept a few strands of her Raven tresses behind her ear, as her bright blue eyes scanned the crowd. The Journywoman didnt see any faces she rightly knew just yet, but now was just a good a time as any to make new friends. The Harper found a table and upon sitting crossed her legs.

Having been a Journeywoman baker made Fria quite well-equipped for the task of serving the masses of people thronging the Weyrbowl. Point of fact, she was quite enjoying it--though they'd had to chase her out of the kitchens to keep her from tasting the bubblies and remarking on their composition. So, laughingly, she'd allowed herself to be herded outside to help.
She wove between the tables with expert ease, recommending the meatrolls and good Benden wines to enhance the meal. Only occassionally did she burst out laughing for no apparent reason as Dmiath, up with a collection of other dragonets to watch the festivities, made some sort of unintentionally hilarious comment.
As L'mur passed, she waved cheerfully with her spare hand. "L'mur! Having fun yet?" she called, teasingly.

Blyir appeared, her posture high and mighty, the smile on her face one of victory. This Turn over had definately been one of the best and it was all thanks to wonderful bronze Enelth. His beautiful flying and courageous effort had won him his queen and gotten M'xan into the position of power once more.
Ah life was going to be good from now on and she had great faith that Enelth would continue to win his queen, Turn after Turn. The riders would learn to love and respect the traditions and this Weyr would become a place she would be proud to serve.
And you say I'm a proud beast. Waroth chortled.
Yes I do my love. She mindspoke. Mine, where is M'xan?
He is here.
Blyir nodded, moving over to one of the vacant seats, yes...he had to show his face, let everyone know who he was back to being Weyrleader once more. No mere brownrider this time but a full bronzerider of worth!
~~~
L'cian had not been so happy and had resorted to staying in his weyr despite the urgings of his dragon. He was not yet ready to face the world...or Ephia for that matter.
The guilt of letting her down haunted him terribly and not even the dragon's comforts could help ease his troubled soul.
Would the ache leave him in time? Or would it forever leave a void in his heart?
R'ael keeps his eyes peeled for anyone who looks like they need something as he makes his way back to one of the food tables, where he pauses, crossing and uncrossing his arms. Jaiereth is having a grand old time with the other dragonetes, so it's hard not to stay in something of a good mood, but it's a little harder to socialize when he's worried about not missing someone's cue.
The Weyrwoman had helped to organize and set up the festivities for Turnover. It helped keep her mind off things she certainly didn't want to dwell on, especially on such a wonderful day as Turnover. Before the first guests began to arrive Ephia had left the Weyrbowl to bathe change into new attire. She certainly couldn't be seen in clothes that didn't fit her rank.
Ariath watched from her ledge as Ephia pulled out the blue gown that had been made for her for the occasion. As much as shewould have loved to wear the golden gown created for her for the hatching, wearing the dress to two gatherings in a row wasn't customary nor appropriate.
Slipping the gown on Ephia smoothed it out, making sure there was not a rumple in the material. It was a lovely color of deep blue. It wrapped around her chest dropping down in the back in a V like pattern. A single strap ran up and around her neck, holdingthe dress in place. It was certainly lovely and something she hadn't ever seen before.
She put on her matching accesories which consister mainly of a necklace and a snug bracelet, each adorned with matching gems of blue. Studying herself in her mirror she ran her fingers throught her dark hair, the curled ends cascading over her shoulders and back. Yes, it would all do.
Ephia had a goal for the night and that was to enjoy her evening with the man of her choice and that man certainly wasn't M'xan. Certainly she would put up apperances as needed but her intentions were to be with L'cian. Turning to her queen she smiled. "Love, could you find out from Tallith where L'cian is?"
Ariath rumbled and questioned the brown. Tallith says he is locked in his weyr and does not intend to join the gathering.
Ephia frowned. "Well that won't do. I can't leave him sulking in his weyr. He's been avoiding me ever since the flight no matter what I did to get his attention." With one last glance in the mirror Ephia moved to her queen just as her blue flit, Suds, perched himself on her shoulder. "I don't think this will be a nice ride for you little one." She shooed the flit from her shoulder as Ariath offered her a step up.
Situating herself between her queen's back ridges Ephia patted the queens soft hide. "Now let's go to L'cian's weyr. Just be careful dearheart as I am not bothering with straps."
I am always careful.
Witht hat the queen launched herself from her ledge and flew to Tallith's ledge, giving the brown warning so there would be room for her to land. The ledge was certainly smaller than her own but she managed to manuver herself and land with all the grace and dignity a queen had.
Ephia dismounted Ariath and peered into the weyr. "L'cian." She spoke loudly before stepping in, smiling at Tallith as she passed the large brown.
X'lias, like all the other Weyrlings, had been helping in the kitchens and in the Weyrbowl to prepare things. He was quite pleased when the gather began to start. Though he was quiet and shy in nature he truly did enjoy festivities of any kind. Especially after the plague the survivors needed encouragement and fun and gatherings all managed to raise spirits even when things weren't going right.
Manuvering his way through the growing crowds X'lias was trying to hide a grin. Gurath was all too pleased with the goings ons and very excited.
Mine, there are so many dragons here that I have yet to meet and there is so much going on. Whirling blue eyes tried to take everything in. There should be things like this more often!
Yes, there are many here. Just try to calm down and introduce yourself to another dragon. I have to wait on people right now.
The little brown didn't respond but X'lias could feel the excitement from Gurath. It was all so amusing to the young brownrider.
"R'ael you should relax or you are going to spill something. There are other beside you here to wait on others so if you do miss a cue it not the end of the world." Kahlin said and glanced at the table. "Hungry Sonia?" The green flit flapped her wings eyes whirling at the food but stayed on the cup. "I'll take that as a yes."
Tallith blinked his eyes and gazed at his rider sadly, his colour was improving but it was clear he was still not the dragon he had been. He waved his head slowly from side to side, hunching his shoulders as he moved away from the ledge to peer inside his rider's quarters.
Ariath and Ephia ask after you. You are expected at the gather. The brown sounded hopeful.
"Why am I needed there?" L'cian frowned, pausing from his work to gaze at his brown. "No one will miss a grumpy Wingleader you silly brown." He ignored Tallith's protest and turned back to the unrolled skins. Upon them were many different flight formations that would come in handy in the future. Thread would be soon and he had to be prepared. He was still in a position of authority and he would not let his wing down. He needed to talk to K'rel his Wingsecond as well as check on the health of his wingriders at some point. So much to do and so little time!
They come. There was a tingle of excitement in the dragon's voice that made L'cian suddenly nervous.
"Who does?" He gave his dragon one of those looks that made the dragon grin inside. This was a battle that L'cian wouldn't win, and right now Tallith knew that he needed company. A gather was the perfect opportunity!
It wasn't long before the sound of great wings could be heard and Tallith gave a chirp of delight, shifting around to gaze towards the ledge.
The golden ones are here! Tallith replied enthusiastically to his rider who simply groaned and tried to make himself look busy. His dragon's eyes whirled a brilliant blue in response to seeing the great and beautiful queen, swinging his head around to give a soft crooning sound of welcome.
Then Ephia spoke the rider's name and the dragon half-lidded his eyes, there was no way L'cian would ever say no to the Weyrwoman. This battle was already won.
"In here, I'm just going through some records." Was the young rider's reply to being addressed, standing up to greet her. "What brings the Weyrwoman here when she should be at the gather?"
J'mil sat seperate from the other riders, concentrating on looking at the attractive people wandering around. He didn't need to think of what the Turnover was like after the plague. He didn't need to think of the loss of dear T'ral.
Mine, this is a happy occasion. Stop moping and start mingling with people. Renelth said.
I will, I will. Just relax, Nel. Finding himself suddenly quite hungry, J'mil spotted the nearest weyrling waiter and shouted, "You there! Could you bring me a meatroll or too?"
---
S'dar was in a very good mood indeed. Enelth had won the flight; good had prevailed, and soon the Weyr would be in order again. He just needed to find candidates who would be good riders. Good riders who would listen to him, eternally greatful to him for bringing them to the Weyr...
"Oh probably..." R'ael agreed. "But I think I'm allowed to be uptight for once...there's a lot going on, I'm going to be flying with some of these people someday, and I still don't know who most of them are...besides, the busier I keep...the less time I have to think about what could go wrong." He jokes, winking at Kahlin. "Hold on..." He adds, putting a pair of meatrolls on a plate at J'mil's summons. "Duty calls." he chuckles to Kahlin before heading over toward the rider. --
Jaiereth's own exitment is part of the reson behind R'aels nervousness and the prospect of a fumble, the blue is bubbling over with the sights and smells and bustle, perking up at a glimpse of the young brown.
"Will do I have to feed Sonia anyways." Kahlin watched R'ael leave before walking to the table picking up small scraps of meat holding them up to his firelizard to eat. "So Sonia what do you think the chance is of me becoming a candiate?" He questioned talking to himself.
Sonia eyes whirl pleasurable as she gobbled down her food still balanced on the rim of her cup. She chirped an answer or what could be taken for an answer.
"Really? I guess you think more of me then I do." He scratched the green gently where her wing met her shoulder making Sonia lift the wing slightly higher.
Since both of his hands were occupied, L'mur could only nod at Fria's greeting. "Oh yes, lots of fun," he grinned, rolling his eyes cheerfully. "Whoops!" He lurched and recovered, fortunately not dropping anything. "Now, that would have been really fun," he quipped.
It would?
L'mur snorted mentally. I was being sarcastic, my love, he directed towards Saranth. The green was very excited, being around so many people and dragons.
Oh, was the simple response.
L'mur grinned, and as he turned around, spotted the tall, slender form of Kalya. "Oy! Kalya!" he called, harper-trained lungs carrying his usually soft voice.
Caleten watched all the people who had come in after her. It was amusing but she didn't want to stick around too long. So far she seemed to have been looked over. In her musings, she missed Dem'or's first plea for attention.
The second came as a louder more impatient bark. She turned to the puppy and answered his demand first with a halfhearted glare then she reached down to pet the puppy again.
Heroe walked around among the people, clutching her stone flute the shape of a blue firelizard. She was hoping to find a few of her friends, or aquaintences, or other Harpers for that matter. She walked slowly along the crowd hoping to find someone.
~*~
Mine... I see Heroe... She's here! Songreth said his eyes swirling excitedly from the weyr they were curently barrowing till Re'em could find the Weyr woman.
Re'em scrambled to where Songreth was looking down. He looked around, his sky blue eyes searching everywhere for the young girl he left behind. "Where is she? I can't see her."
She's grown up, Mine, she's a young woman, and a Harper at that. I can see her just fine, and I recongize her. Go to her Mine... Go to her.
Re'em flushed and backed away, "I...I can't... What if she doesn't believe that it is me? I mean... it's been eight years... I don't even think our promise counts anymore. Or that bond we three made that long ago."
You will never know till you ask, Mine... Heroe has every right to know.
T'lon stood their with a tray of Klahin hand with a bronze firelizard perched tightly on his shoulder. The boy stood stiffly with a helpless look stuck on his face. He scanned the crowds trying to find a familiar face, but it was in vein. He yawned, wondering if they Weyrlings would ever get their turn to have fun.
Re'em walked through the crowd, after having a mental argument with Songreth, but as usual Songreth won. He was strong built with a dark tan. His sky blue eyes scanned the crowd for Heroe, having been looking for over twenty minutes. He then saw a young lad with a Bronze fire lizard on his shoulder. The boy looked disturbed and tense, and his bronze was reflecting that also. He remembered when he was a weyrling, how he had to stand and wait to serve the others. He gave a half smirk on his handsome face and walked up to the Weyrling.
"May I have a Kala?" He asked gently, picking up one. He sipped it. "It gets kinda boring having to wait on others..." He commented casually. "I remember when I was your age... having to wait on others while my friends were having fun. But that was a duty to a Weyrling." He chuckled slightly. "there was a time that I was so bored... I spiked the Khala with Benden Wine... No one seemed to know the difference!"
