Peppermint Elf
9 more levels before I can become a hunter. Can anyone recommend somewhere good/interesting (besides Payon) to go to level up a 43/31 Archer?
I've been playing in Ant Hell, but the ant chains get annoying fast. stressed gonk

EDIT:Experience is slightly better for me, but cashwise, Payon is better so far. =/ At least with what I can kill with my crappy thief.

Elf: Greatest generals are your friend, especially if you have ice arrows available. (Hopefully, someone helped you with the arrow crafting quest, though I believe, if you're up-to-date with kRO, there should be an NPC in Payon (I think) that sells arrow quivers of all kinds. I don't know if they took it out; they were supposed to have it in just for testing.)

Technically Payon (I prefer the field one map south, one map west of town), but it was fast leveling for me even on a 1x server. (I spent from base 30 to...well...the time I jobchanged, at least. I'm going to spend my early bard levels here as well.)

And don't change at 40. Go to 41, at least; you should max out Improve Concentration as an archer. At high agi and dex, you're essentially giving yourself agi up and bless, even solo...and the best part is, buffs stack on top of this.

So, your skills should look like:

10 Owl's Eye
10 Vulture's Eye
10 Double Strafe (you should have these maxed by now)
10 Improve Concentration (this is what you get from job 32-41)
9 Arrow Shower (optional, don't touch Arrow Shower at all until you've gotten the above skills maxed)

If you want Arrow Shower, go for it; I didn't bother with it on my bard both times I built him. Plus, going to job 50 gets you a bow...I believe hunter's bow. Strongest bow in the game, which is nice if you can't afford the array of cards a hunter needs to be effective. (Agi/dex hunters can be the most powerful killers in the game, but to become powerful, they not only need an array of carded weapons (4s composite bows are usually the most popular, though some choose 3s crossbows or even 2s gakkungs and arbalests), they also need appropriate arrows.)

Anyway. On another note:

Never underestimate the power of Jupitel Thunder, kids. cool (Yeah, I can't believe my damage either. It's the first time I remember doing 900 damage per hit on alarms, even with freeze.)

Also:

It took me forever to figure out the bard quest. It turns out that it changed after I remade Blazerunner, so that I had to talk to a chick in the upper left corner to unlock Jack Frost Snowysnow.

The only problem is, the roaming bard tells you that you have to talk to Jack Frost first, which is what the old quest was. stressed And it seems like they gave the NPCs their kRO names. scream (I mean, Mr. Peterson becomes Poze. WTF.) So it was doubly disorienting.

I'm almost about to suggest Juno fields, if you can borrow a horong clip. Drillers have really low hit--you should have no problems dodging them. (I mean, I have no problems, even without a mocking.)

The only thing is that sleepers have about 30 more hit than them. D=

Another option could be sky petites; you should be able to dodge them well. And their high flee shouldn't be an object for you.

If you can borrow a mocking (or even a quick (condor) garment), you may want to consider seals and alligators. They're about 200-210 flee. The only thing is, gators have a fair bit of HP, I think, which means you spend longer on them.

Thanks so much for the tips!!!! heart heart heart

So far, my skills are:
Owl's Eye - 10
Vulture's Eye - 10
Improve Concentration - 4
Double Strafe - 5 (I love double strafe for some reason)
Arrow Shower - 2

So... to get the bow, I job up to 50 and then take the test?

Ugh... Orc Caves are too hard. I think I'm gonna stick to Payon. gonk

Trust me, when you have both double strike and dodge maxed, you'll be an a** kicking machine.

Personally?

I'd say:

10 Double Attack
10 Dodge

Then it's up to you. If you're sure you want to forgo detox and you don't care about PvP, you can skip envenom entirely if you're going rogue. Assassins need 1 envenom to unlock the poison skills. (Which are somewhat nice--Enchant Poison renders a weapon poison element (which is nice to get around sense element or raydric garments at no cost), while Venom Dust always poisons if the target doesn't have 100 vit. (Poison immunity.)

Arguably, you may want a higher level of Envenom; though poison is a joke as a status effect (it's easily curable), Envenom always hits, thus it's useful for causing other status effects (like sleep for low-int chars or stun for low-vit chars, both of which render the target immobile). As the level of Envenom goes up, so does the poison chance and attack strength.

Steal 5 is pretty much required. This is the prerequisite for hide, which both classes need. (Rogues need 1 hide to learn stalk, assassins 2 hide for cloaking. Rogues should get at least 5 hide, though, since stalk = mobility while hidden.) Rogues also need 1 steal to get any rogue skills; Gank and Mug unlock the entire rogue skill tree. (For the intimidate tree, you also need 2 stalk, but that's minor.) If you don't care that much about PvM, leave it at 5; otherwise, you should get it as high as possible.

On my rogue, I got detox as soon as I was done with DA and Dodge. (Poison annoys me to no end.) Then I got steal 5, hide 1, steal 10, and hide 5. (Changed at 40.)
