"Sounds like you don't ever want to go back to wherever you lived. Especially since the weather," she said and took her hand off of his shoulder. "You probably don't want to live where my dad, stepmom, stepsister and I live. My stepsister lays her hands on any guy who shows that they might like me with her looks. Not fun, trust me."

Derek laughed nervously and didn't move. "Yea, I never want to go back there. All it does is bring back bad memories." He looked over at her. "Why would your sister do something so mean like that?" He was surprised her own sister would do that to Jinx.

"She says that I'm a freak, just like my three friends," she said and lied down on her back. "It's like she has telepathy or something because she always appears whenever I like a boy and the boy might like me back. Luckily I'm away from her. For now anyways." She sighed and looked up at Derek with her blue-gray eyes. Hopefully she isn't a demigoddess. She thought to herself.

Derek took a moment to take everything she was saying in. How could her sister be so cruel to her? It's not like taking people Jinx liked would help her sister any. He shook his head and kept his eyes set in front of him. "That's stupid of her to do that to you."

"How could any guy not notice you? Even if your sister did intervien." His face turned a deep red and kept his eyes focused in front of him, at the quickly diming light. "And... maybe your step sister was just jealous?" He shrugged.

"Oh, you'll be suprised of her influence on guys," she said and chuckled a little. "And why would she be jealous? She's the most popular girl at school and basically gets everything she wants." She informed Derek and looked back at the trees. If anyone's jealous, it's me. She thought to herself.

Derek smiled slightly. "Well some people think that everyone should have to love them, and when someone took an interest in you maybe she felt like she wasn't being loved.... I don't know." He shrugged losing his train of thought. "But you should be bothered by her now." He smiled and leaned back on his hands staring up at the sky which was a dark gray.

"If I could stay here year long, I would, but I'd miss my dad and friends." She looked over at Derek and smiled a little.

Derek nodded, though he didn't really know what it'd be like to have family outside the borders of Camp Half-Blood. He figured he'd miss his family as well. He did miss his grandfather even though they never talked, but he was dead and that was different. And his parents have been dead for some time now. He could only remember little about his mother and almost nothing about his father. He looked over at Jinx his eyes shining off the moon that was well above them now. "What's your dad like?"

"Well, he seems more like an older brother and friend than a dad. He's caring, nice, punk-ish and fun to be around, even when you're depressed," Jinx said looking up at the moon, then back at Derek. Her blue-grey eyes seemed more blue because of the moonlight. "I wish you could meet him, but I don't know if mortals are allowed here." She said with a sigh. Derek's pretty hot under the moonlight. She thought to herself. Oh, my God. No offence mom and the other Greek gods and goddesses, but what did I just think? She asked herself mentally, then she began to blush.

Derek smiled and listened to the quiet for a moment. There were almost no sounds audible- and the silence was screaming out at him. He breathed in, hearing is own breath, and breathed back out before he said anything. "I'm sure he really misses you while you're at camp."

Jinx looked back up at the moon and sighed. "Yeah, I bet he does," she said and she continued to look at the moon. "The moon is beautiful tonight." She said trying to change the subject and looked back at Derek and smiled lightly. She was still blushing because of her thoughts.

"Yea, it is." He smiled and looked up at the moon which was big up in the clear sky. He'd loved camping outside of his house as a kid and just looking up at the sky and the moon, but it had never been as clear as it was now.

Jinx shivered as another cold breeze blew and caressed her skin. "It wasn't very clear in the city, but out here, it's really beautiful," she said and looked back up at the moon and stars. "I see the big dipper," she said and pointed to the constellation. "See?"
