Acacia sent one of her boomerang darts between the two devils. As they parted in surprise it came whizzing back at her, untouched, and she caught it deftly between forefinger and middle finger. "Are you two coming?" she asked as she slid the blade back up her sleeve. "Everyone's leaving without you!" She jumped up into the air and, with a flourish of her wings, began to fly. "Let's get this party started!"

They painted up your secrets With the lies they told to youAnd the least they ever gave you Was the most you ever knew Abby laughed. "Demons have always existed. They create balance. For every angel, there will be a demon. Without evil, there is no good. Without yin, there is no yang. For all the world, there is the sky. For all the sea, there is the land. For the summer there is winter. Everything has a balance, an opposite. Until you achieve this knowledge, you cannot achieve your everlasting peace," Abby explained while she was pinned. "The long and short is that there is no peace, only fewer deaths."
Abby struggled to lift herself against the angels and managed to stand. "As for the plans, I burned them. All the city lives by itself, free of captive thought. When someplace new is needed, we build it. The city is wild, just as its inhabitants are," she smiled brightly. She had forgotten how blind angels were to the world.
And I wonder where these dreams go When the world gets in your way What's the point in all this screaming? No one's listening anyway

Mordecai looked upon the Wild One with pity. She had forgotten just how lost and blind they were, Sheep the Holy Shepherd must find again. "I do not look for the written plans," Mordecai explained. "I look for your own knowledge. You shall tell us about this city. We shall remember it. Draw in the dirt if you need to; only tell us." Mordecai lifted the girl's chin so that she could see into her eyes. "Demons need not be demons. They may be like you: misguided, but not dangerous. However, they choose to be a threat to us all. They relish in the destruction of good and the fall of the just. Dare you defend those that would bring about your own damnation? We can save you. We can bring this war to an end."

They painted up your secrets With the lies they told to youAnd the least they ever gave you Was the most you ever knew "Did you know, that I was once an angel? I used to have pure white wings and worship blindly. I had died a child. I did as I was told and lived in those slums," Abby replied, staying calm. "My body never aged, but my mind has. I realized that the afterlife I wanted, was not there. I wanted not to lose my friends in a blind war. If I die in this war, I will not have struck the first blow.
"I'm sure you are aware, but wrath is one of the deadly sins. Wild Ones have not started this fight. The Angels, Holy beings themselves, struck first in this battle." Abby said smugly. She knew she had made a good point. She was interested to see how this would be countered.
"As for the plans, the city has grown since the days where I built it. Here's a little piece of information though, above the lookout posts, there are huge lights," she said unnecessarily. She still had not figured out how the angel had seen through the light. Whenever any of the Wild Ones tried, they could not see past the light.
And I wonder where these dreams go When the world gets in your way What's the point in all this screaming? No one's listening anyway

The fact that there were numerous lights truly did nothing. For one thing, the angels already knew about these lights, having been confronted by one. For another, how could lights bother those made of light themselves? "The First Strike," Mordecai began, "was a not meant to be a battle. It was a confrontation, a diplomatic (if you will) approach to those who had disregarded the Holy Word. It was the demons who made it bloody, who drew the first sword. It is they who are blind, blind by their own desires." Mordecai gestured to her guards. "Lie her down, but keep her pinned. We have one hour more before our Brothers arrive. Then, she can give us the information we need, or watch the consequences of her stubbornness." She turned to the youngest angel. "You are first lookout. See you do not fail. Use the Holy Sight this time." He nodded, saluted, and burst into the air. Mordecai turned back to the prisoner. Pity filled her heart. "Young one, perhaps one day the Holy Ghost will open your heart again. Until then, I shall pray for you." Halberd in hand, she walked away.

The flight of warriors had already emerged into open air before Acacia swooped down lower, unnecessarily flapping her wings, to get close to Silas. "So what'd I miss?" she asked casually, placing her sword carefully under her arm and adjusting her hair. "Not much, I imagine. After the Demon Big-Heads finish telling us it's time to kill, they often don't illustrate how. Ah well," she sighed, "we are creatures of chaos, aren't we? Well, any plans at all?" As she looked at him she smiled. "Oh, there's a lock of hair out of place, dear. Here... there. Now don't run your hand through it so roughly, and it'll stay in place. Have to keep the image up for Jinx, don't we?"

Jinx covered her mouth as she shoulders shook slightly with laughter. Actually getting to scout put her in a bright mood. With her bow in hand and her arrows on her back, she was anxious to get going. "Not really much of a plan to be made. Scout and kill, that usually how this works. Unless you have something different in mind?" She said softly.

They painted up your secrets With the lies they told to youAnd the least they ever gave you Was the most you ever knew "A confrontation is a battle. It's not diplomatic in any sense of the word!" Abby countered at a shout. "The demons defended against what was viewed as an attack. It was they who were blind to an army of angels rushing at their homes! If you were to see an army of them charging your home and your neighbor's home, you might find that threatening," she retaliated in defense of the demons. It was a good argument to make. Too bad that most angels who served were mindless to the arguments she could make.
"Give me my consequences now if you must. I shall not bend to your foolishness. "The Wild Ones are my family. would you ever betray another angel for the sake of an afterlife you may not live much longer?" she asked the angel. "Having once been an angel I know that one of the first things you learn is loyalty to your brethren. I would have thought that they might wise up a little and teach you how the Virtues should be carried out. They also might not want to teach you to embrace the Sins."
And I wonder where these dreams go When the world gets in your way What's the point in all this screaming? No one's listening anyway

Everyone is changing There's no one left that's real To make up your own ending And let me know just how you feel
"Not likely with the helm I have to wear," Silas said as he shook his head vigorously. He Tightened his wings and sped up, forcing his way through the wind like a rocket. "Come on slow pokes!" he called back to them as warm air swirled under his wings.
'Cause I am lost without you I cannot live at all My whole world surrounds you I stumble then I crawl

As Jinx spend up to meet Silas's challenge, she laughed. Flying was her favorite part of being dead. You don't get to fly as a human and she had always wanted to feel the wind in her face at high speeds. Catching up to him was the easy part. Passing him on the other hand, well that was something completely different. Her bony wings were designed for speed, not stability. Let's just say it was tough to stay level, with the hot air wanting to push her up

Silas had huge wings that were great for gliding. That being said, they were still small enough that he could flap them and move quickly. He pulled up, flying just above Jinx. If she was not careful, their wings would hit and Silas, who's wings were sturdier, would not be the one to fall. "Be careful!" He said just above her head.

"Well, if you're so worried, don't fly above me." Jinx retorted, tilting her head sideways to glance at Silas. She flashed him a smile and looked back at Acacia. "Either one of you know where we're going? Because I missed that in the meeting." I'll kick your butts getting there, too.

"We have to go part of the way on foot. There is a dense part of the forest that we can't fly over. We have to take a couple extra days and walk," Silas told them as he flew just ahead of Jinx.
