Narrowing his eyes, Shun stared as the red lights began to move towards them as a single unit. He only had a few extra magazines on him so he knew he really needed to make his shots count.

"Where's a damn assault riffle when you need one?" he muttered under his breath. When Nick pointed out their weak point, he nodded and replied, "Roger that."

It seemed to take ages for the strikers to reach them, but the cadet did what he could to control his breathing and wait for the right moment to retaliate. He saw one poke its head in, which only ended up crushed by Nick's metallic fist. An impressive feat, though he couldn't dwell on that.

With his eye twitching from the horrible sound it made, he saw another striker poke through and hiss at him. Glaring at it, he quickly aimed upward and fired at its red, glowing eyes.

The spines on Bent-Tail's back bristled upward as the creatures came closer. And in response to them, he gave a hiss of his own. Hearing this, his pilot shot a quick glance at the rat, wondering if he should send him scouting to try and find an exit. This idea quickly was shoved aside as he wasn't sure if the organoid could be as stealthy as his zoid when the two fused. Not to mention that the rat may end up setting off a similar trap that got them stuck in this hall in the first place.

"Keeerrreeeeee!!!" The Striker screeched as it was hit in the eye. Its grip on the ceiling released with the shriek and it came down hard on the one that had been in Nick's grip. The spikes on the one Shun shot impaled the other Nick had.

With a grin Nick shoved the combined duo back into the door, knocking back a few others that tried to squirm through.

The cadet was a good shot, and the result was quite amusing. But they would have to exchange complements, if at all, later.

"Run." Steam hissed from the vents in her arm as the palm begun to cool. She would have to wait a minute before heating it back up. That aside there were more coming in the door, and with their position it would be mere minutes before they were overrun. And perhaps there was a place they could defend themselves better than the hall against the wall.

Another group made an advance toward the clicking wildly. They seemed more determined now to reach the three. One in particular seemed very focused on the little rat organoid.

Further down the hall there was another few rooms and before that room, more strange lines in the ceiling and this time the wall. That would seem the goal line, perhaps they could separate themselves from the horde.

The way the two went down was rather interesting, to say the least, and he could only hope that they'd stay down. Though it probably didn't matter greatly considering they still had hundreds to deal with.

Nodding without a word, he quickly got back up to his feet and began running down the hall with Nick and Bent-Tail. Occassionally, he glanced back to fire a round or two to try and ward off some of the strikers, but it was hard to aim while doing so. At least he had nice bright red targets to focus on. But after awhile, he stopped doing that to try and get away.

Bent-Tail let out a shriek as one of the strikers seemed to home in on him. The only things he had aside from his little claws and jaw, were the spines on his backside, but those would do little as an offensive weapon against the others' blades, pincers, and sharp shiny teeth. It was too bad he couldn't roll up into a ball and act as a sort of razor blade as he rolled along the ground.

So he just ran, keeping as close to the humans as he could while trying to avoid getting sliced in half or anything along those lines.

Despite the poor targeting Shun managed to shoot a few in the eye and slow them down a great deal, but not put them out completely. After the shock of being shock of loosing an eye they were back on the chase. The hall was soon covered in the creatures viciously perusing the trio.

Nick let Shun have the lead after they passed the lines in the ceiling. As before there was the odd clicking noise, that meant the wall would come down and give them some time. Her right hand positioned once again for a quick strike.

They just had to keep them back long enough for the solid stone slabs to fall down.

One of the Strikers forced itself further ahead of the group and made a leap for the group with its maw wide open for whatever it could get a hold on first.

Once they were past the lines, the cadet whipped around briefly to get off a few more shots, crouching down and to the side as he did so to avoid shooting Nick on accident. After a couple rounds, however he was forced to reload. He quickly dashed off as he did so, working to get his gun ready once again and cursing several times under his breath while he was at it.

Bent-Tail, being at the tail end of the group, soon found his rear end being bitten by a striker. Shrieking, he began to flail about to try and get out of the creature's grasp.

Hearing this, Shun turned around again, with his eyes widening at the sight.

"Get off of him you b*****d!" he shouted as he fired at the one to try and get it off of his organoid, hoping that the rat wasn't being hurt too badly by the other.

*CRASH*CRASH*CRASH*CRASH*CRASH*!!!

The doors came down again to their favor this time, however there was one Striker that did not get separated with his pack. He remained on Bent's butt despite being shot at. The bullets had little effect on the armor of the creature.

Luckily, one bullet did strike the creatures right eye causing it to rear away from the rat organoid and screech. Its head flailed around as it tried to shake off the shock.

Careful of the bullets being fired Nick reached out to grab the creature's head as she had done the previous, but something else happened this time. Strangely she could not bring herself to crush it and it in turn did not try to escape the hand. It stood there clicking.

-You are with the great mother...-

Nick's brow quirked, though she was still very startled with what had just happened. Great mother? She had a gut feeling about who that was.

Zutnic hear her calling through you. We kill intruders feh- ACK- Nick's grip tightened a little as she shook its head slowly.
"You will not. Behave..." She mumbled to the metallic creature, who oddly submitted to the command.

The sound from the striker to Shun would be nothing more than clicks and soft hums. Bent would be able to hear more of that strange language, yet at the same time he would be able to hear it in a language he could understand. The creature's tone was slowly changing to match signals.

"Your friend alright?" She glanced over to the Organoid and Shun. Luckily for Bent the creature did not bite down with full force, if it had his but would have been detached.

Shun glared at the creature, ready to continue firing, but Nick had stepped up to the plate and grabbed it by the head. He waited for her to smash its head in, but it never happened. It started to click, but what was stranger to him was that Nick seemed to respond to whatever it was clicking about.

"You.. understand it?" he asked while staring at her.

Looking back at the striker, it seemed to be subdued for now, so he went to check on the organoid to make sure he was alright. Bent-Tail was a little spastic at the moment, from nearly having his butt chomped off by the strange metallic creature. Shun patted him on the head and murmured lowly to him to try and calm down the rat, which he managed to do slowly.

"Yeah, a couple small holes in his armor but nothing serious," Shun replied.

The rat looked up at Zutnic, as he now was able to understand what he said, even if he heard the strange language at the same time.

"Great mother? Who is de great mother?" he chattered while looking between Zutnic and Nick, wary of the everything that was going on still, " 'N wots she gotta do wit 'er?"

Nick slowly released Zutnic's skull with a shove before turning back to Shun. She honestly was having a hard time comprehending that she -had- understood what it was saying. With all that she had been through, this was a first.

At least it was obedient. In the back of her mind, Nick wondered if the entire horde would submit like this. Than she realized what the Judge wanted. Just that. To have these things at its disposal. Well, they were trapped now. But for how long?

Nick shook her head than looked over the small holes in Bent's behind. "Dr. Fox should be able to fix it better than new." Her focus sifted back to Shun. "And yourself?"

Zutnic shook his head as it was released. He now had a nice light imprint of Nick's mechanical hand on his skull.

-Great mother was here before all else. Like father...- It clicked and made some chuckling noise. -This one, one of great mother's organoids. Zutnic can see it. Zutnic also see you are strange... - Its jaws clicked together. -Every organoid know great mother, hear great mother... but you not. Strange strange strange...-

Screeches could be heard on the other side of the thick wall. They were trying to break through. No doubt they could, but it will take a long while.

Shun stared at Nick as she didn't really respond to him about understanding the creature. Maybe she really hadn't? But the little exchange between her and the striker was rather bizarre considering how it went.

"I'm fine," he replied tersely, pausing a moment or two before asking her as well, "And what about you?"

Bent-Tail tilted his head and stared at Zutnic with some confusion. He then looked over at Nick, but he was quite certain she wasn't what Zutnic said.

"Wot are ye talkin' 'bout? She's a 'uman, not an organoid," he chattered before looking back at the striker, "I was created by Dr. Fox. 'E is a great man, but 'e is no mother."

Quite frankly, he still didn't know what Zutnic spoke of. He was certain the creature had a few loose screws or something along those lines. Perhaps his pilot had knocked something loose when he shot out one of his eyes.

Nick took a moment to answer his question. It had been a long time since anyone had asked about her well being. Be it sarcastic or sincere. There was that Republic soldier, but it was slightly different having the person ask right there in front of her. It didn't make it any more natural to have this be an Imperial Soldier that now knew who she was asking the question.

"I...I'm alright." She spoke quietly before turning toward the dark hall and continuing forward. It was obvious the question had thrown her off a little. "Common... lets keep moving."

Zutnic clicked and chattered.
-Dull senses... perhaps great mother will change that. Or maybe you be destroy by father.-It seemed to chuckle. -no mother indeed.-

The striker moved around Shun and Bent with a small swagger in his step. His two tails swayed up and down in a rhythmic pattern.

It seemed he had surprised her with the question, though Shun didn't think on why that might be the case. Watching Nick begin to walk off, he got back up to his feet before shooting the striker a glare. It seemed this one wouldn't be giving them any more problems, but he still didn't trust it much.

Then, glancing at the wall that barricaded the rest of the horde away from them, he went to follow Nick.

"Were those things the real reason why you came here?" he asked. The soldier didn't quite sound as snappy as he did earlier, but he still didn't seem very happy with the situation in general.

If Bent-Tail was able to narrow his eyes and glare at the striker, he probably would have right there. Instead he just stared before quickly moving to catch up with the humans. The striker made him feel uneasy to be certain. He didn't know who this mother or father person was but he didn't like the sound of them in any case.

"Ye talk like a crazy one..." he squeaked.

"In a way..." She looked back at Shun, wincing a little as her sight first saw the bright glow of the flash light. There was no point in creating more stories about her 'family' now. "I didn't know what they were or how many..." Her own tone had softened as well. However, there was still a coldness to her words. It was her normal tone with anyone now a day.

The halls begun to widen once again leaving more room for them to get around. It was an odd way to have a building, but there must have been something strategic the ancients saw in the design. The past two rooms they passed were as empty as the first room. Save for a few broken pottery and furniture.

At this point though, Nick was looking for any sign of windows, no matter how small they may be. It meant they were close to the surface. Though doubtful as there still seemed to be a slight incline in the pathway.

The hall lead into the third and final room, and by the looks of it it was going to be massive. Though she could not see what wait inside...

Zutnic shook his head.
-You crazy not know who they are- His head bobbled a bit as he looked up to Shun and chattered his teeth. He had no idea Shun was responsible for the loss of his right eye, luckily. The striker just found it amusing.

"I see.. any particular reason why?"

Even if she didn't know what the strikers were before hand, or how many there were, Shun couldn't think of why she would seek them out anyway. It probably wasn't a case of 'curiosity killed the cat', and somehow he just didn't see it as her being some rogue seeking out treasure.

As they made their ways through the halls, Shun remained fairly vigilant, though for awhile there wasn't really anything of particular interest. At some point, he had taken out his canteen to take a quick drink. He figured it was probably a good thing he had brought it with him, seeing how there really was no telling how long they'd be stuck down there.

"Don't suppose more of those things are in there do you?" he asked lowly while eying the last room.

Bent-Tail decided not to say anything else on the matter. Zutnic probably wasn't going to tell him anything more of who the mother and father were anyway. He was rather convinced it was the striker that was crazy. After all, he thought Nick was an organoid!
PostPosted: Wed Mar 31, 2010 12:19 pm

Nick couldn't tell him exactly -why- she had been looking for them, that would put his life in danger.

"I was hired to look for them by a bandit lord." She spoke without hesitation. Somewhat true, though the Judge was no bandit lord and she was not hired, but commanded to do the task.

"It was a good enough sum of Zi to send me back here looking for it..." She shook her head. "He must have thought it was a ZOID of some kind."

Zutnic flexed his claws at the rat as it slowed to Bent's pace. Now he was just finding amusement in getting a reaction out of the creature. He didn't say much more either, but he did taunt it like a small child would to its sibling in the back of a van.

"Most likely...." She looked forward to the large room. So many shadows, there very well could have been more in there. "Zutnic-" Nick reached back to grab his head again. "Go see what's in that room, and don't wake anything up. Understood."

The striker hummed and nodded before bounding off into the shadows ahead of them.

Shun had to wonder what bandit lord wanted to look into this but he decided not to press it. Most likely it wouldn't really matter which one it was in the end, but he didn't exactly like the idea of some big bandit getting a hold of these things. Then again, he had doubts any one person could control all of them anyway.

"Apparently."

The organoid didn't exactly enjoy the antics of the striker. But he put up with him to the best of his ability. A few times he made a metallic hiss in response to the taunts, but that was the extent of his retaliation. He was rather relieved as the striker was sent to scout the room up ahead.

"Looks like you've managed to train that one pretty quick," grumbled Shun as he readied his gun should Zutnic mess up his orders. If that were to happen, they really would not be in a good place, considering the hall behind them currently was a dead end.
