Shockster

Howling as he saw his prey escape once again, Shockster squinted at the group of shinigami, waiting for the paralysis on his limbs to wear off. Unfortunately, just as his arm and leg unfroze, three shinigami leapt in simultaneously to attack his other arm.

His fingers were singed with the reiatsu one had fired from his spear- steaming, he had turned to hit Alder away when he became aware of a whizzing noise next to his ear. Two other spears, revolving like drills dove deep into his shoulder. As Shockster flailed in anger, the lightening-sword shinigami joined the fray, his zanpaktou raised high over his head to stab into his shoulder. He twisted, hoping the shinigami would overbalance and fall, and thereby avoiding a direct stab to his joints. Nevertheless, the blade sank into his arm, ripping tendons and causing blood to splatter the ground beneath him.

Scarcely had he regained his balance than a bolt of white energy had soared from below, and directly into his eye. It seemed the little shinigami were working together- for a second later, while he was still blinded, a second kido was aimed directly at his arm. There was a huge explosion.

With a bone-shattering crack, his shoulder bone dislodged, and the lacerated flesh ripped apart. Shockster's whole arm from the shoulder downwards flopped onto the ground, leaving only a stump that rained blood onto the pavements.

"YOU!" he howled, enraged, "HOW DARE YOU PESKY LITTLE FLIES-" he turned to the female shinigami responsible for the kido that had blown off his arm, "- I'LL CRUSH YOU ALL!"

Leaping into the air, the hollow bore down on Sayuri, before slamming his weight back down to Earth, hopefully crushing her.

Alder and the spears moved simultaneously. He now had five under his command. His mind and heart were racing as he flew with a spear to Sayuri's side, making it in less than a few seconds. 'Oujou....lend me your strength with this one...' Alder thought to his Zanpakuto spirit. His spears began to glow with his reiatsu as he made them into one long, square shape figure. As shockster landed, only one of his feet made it to the ground. The other was being held up by Alder's spears.

However, the impact traveled through the spears to Alder, who was now on one knee, gasping for breath on the ground. He forced the spears upward, hopefully knocking shockster to the ground. As he did so, he staggered to his feet, and two of his spears went right up to shockster's face, both of them firing a wave at near point blank range, before returning to their master. "Sayuri...." Alder said hoarsely. "Take a spear. We need to get back a bit...." Alder left four spears for Sayuri to grab, and three to defend her as he flew off on his one.

Once he was a safe distance away-about thirty or forty feet-he began to breathe normally. The force of the impact had put a ton of pressure on his body, but all he needed to do was let his body relax again, and then he could join the fray again personally.

(( @Sayuri: I'm sorry for being the guy who has to break it to you, but being Captain means I have to stay on top of things like these - particularly after being away for so long. So, I may actually be getting out of line here, but how do you know Shakkaho? Aren't you new here? If no one has taught you, then I'm afraid you can't use it yet.
If you do know it - and are allowed to - then I apologize. Can't blame a guy for double checking things.))

~ I Don't Think Now Is The Best Time; Hans Zimmer -- Scene BGM ~

It lasted no more than a mere second. But still, for some of those involved in that battle, it would probably be carved into their minds for quite some time.

It, was a sudden yet brief exponential growth in Reiatsu over that area. When it appeared, it would summon the undivided attention of everyone there, and bring the heated battle into a "one second" respite.

Depending on their own amounts of Reiatsu, some would feel an ominous aura around them, others would also have trouble breathing and probably even standing, others still would probably be paralyzed by fear and unable to move a single muscle. Aside from that, they would all experience the same thing... Having felt the Grim Reaper, waving a scythe above their heads.
This uncanny sensation, emanated from a specific spot amongst them, and after that gloomy one second had passed (and the foreboding of imminent death was lifted), the dark aura remained. It was also leaking from that same spot, behind the large Hollow, that had been the cause for that sudden spike in Reiatsu.

As the figure of a man, wearing a set of two large haoris (one on top of the other) as if they were capes, slowly turned around to face the "beast", many could still descry the features of an empty skull taking the place of his head. It was a mere illusion though, once again brought by the aura that man released still - despite the fact that his Reiatsu was not being felt anymore - and by the light, playfully casting shadows over his countenance.

What happened in that second that the Spiritual Pressure was felt, was a powerful single clean cut to the Hollow's mask, made with a large man-sized nodachi blade. In fact, the wielder of such nodachi was only now retrieving it to its saya, after he had finished turning around. He first swung the blade above his head in a quick circular motion, to clean the blood off of it, before sheathing it with a relaxed and well mastered single movement.
It was obvious that he had reached that place with a shumpo, since no one - not even the Hollow - was able to notice his arrival. And, it was during this Flash-Step technique that he struck his target.

As if already knowing the outcome of his battokiri (the cutting draw), he showed no concern for the presence of that foe, and therefore felt no need to rush his introductions. I can see you've mastered your Shikai, Alder-san. And you, Hibi-kun, you've grown quite resourceful. Also, I can see we have some new people here, seemingly very promising already. The newcomer spoken, turning to face each Shinigami as he addressed them in particular. This also means that you've been doing a wonderful job as Vice-Captain, Hina-tan.

I've been "watching" you guys fight, and let me say that I'm impressed by how you've turned into impeccable Divine Protectors, while I've been away.
As your Captain, I must say that I couldn't be more proud!

A wide grin could be seen on MockaDash's face - the mysterious figure up until this moment. The long vanished Captain had finally returned, or so it seemed.

Alder's grin was nothing short of bursting at the seam with energy. "Captain!" He tried to walk over, but fell to one knee; he still had a bit of trouble walking, due to the pressure stopping the Hollow's massive attack had put on him. He grabbed a spear, and flew himself over instead. "Part of the reason I came on this mission was to see if I could find you here.....we heard that you got a mission here on earth, but it took so long.....we really didn't know what happened." Alder's face remained relaxed, but his Shikai remained out.

"Well, looks like these spears are my crutches for a while." Alder said with a laugh. He turned to Sayuri, and saw that she was okay. "I'm glad you're okay, Sayuri...." He gave her a monstrous grin before turning back to Mock. "From what I know, the fifth seat, fourth seats, seventh seat, and all the seats below me have gone missing. We don't know where they went either. But the unseated members show a lot of promise, if you ask me. Just a little while ago, I placed Rei and Sayuri into a teamwork practice....I'd say they did pretty well."

Asuko was never one for cursing, but he almost felt like cursing himself that he couldn't get there faster. The rest of his squad seemed to be able to reach the hollow quicker than he, and no one seemed to want to help him... He was left to his own devices, and, after being thrown around like a rag doll, it had left him with a bit of a hobble, because of an injury. Nothing serious, but it prevented him from walking too fast. In the distance, he could see all the action unfolding before him. He wanted to help very badly, but he was still too far away, and any kido he fired would surely miss. As he puffed along, he almost wanted to shout out 'hey! wait!', but no words came.

Straining himself, he began to ignore the pain and attempt to walk faster. It was working to a point. He had finally made it down to the action! Just in time to see the beast's arm rip from it's socket, and just in time to feel a horribly overbearing presence sweep over him.

It was such a suffocating feeling, that he was forced down to the ground again, pushing him down to all fours. Someone's spiritual pressure had flared, and because of Asuko's weak status, he found himself unable to breathe. Luckily, the feeling did not last for very long, and he was able to slowly get back up again. Just in time, to see a man sheathing his sword. He looked oddly familiar, and judging by the two haoris he was wearing, he had to be of some importance...

It was quickly answered by everyone's shouts of "captain!" Why, it was none other than the missing captain! This was the first time Asuko saw him in person, as he was still absent when he joined the squad. Showing the utmost respect, he fell back down to one knee, bowing before his returned captain.

(( scream Haha, I didn't actually do anything to contribute to the hollow's death! All I did was stand, watch and give random orders that I thought befitted the situation…

I’m guessing Mock still has his flowery haori. Correct me if I’m wrong ^^ ))

Hinata stood calmly at her station in the road corner, watching as Hibiki and Alder combined efforts to saw Shockster's arm off. The next thing she knew, the space around the hollow's shoulder had combusted, and with a sickening rip, its whole arm flopped uselessly onto the pavement. She grimaced slightly as a haunting roar rent the air. However, she had scarcely enough time to remove her hands from her ears when Shockster whipped around, leaping high into the sky- and revealing a terrified-looking Sayuri behind him, her hands smoking slightly from the Kido she had just fired.

Alarmed, the Vice-Captain gently built up reiatsu in her legs, preparing to flash-step if no-one else was fast enough. However, she needn't have worried, for Alder bravely dashed in at the last minute, using his spears to prop up the foot that would have otherwise squashed Sayuri.

Through the action, Hinata thought she perceived a slight irregularity of reiatsu, but the strand escaped her before she could pin its source. Casting her senses about suspiciously, she could not feel any trace of it. Nobody else seemed to have noticed- perhaps she was just being paranoid?

A second later, though, her suspicions were confirmed- an immense, deathly reiatsu blasted into the scene. Reflexively, she swept her zanpaktou up, then flash-stepped as close as she could to the reiatsu without being blasted away. No sooner had she done this, though, the alarm bells switched off in her head, and her eyes widened in recognition. Before, the spiritual pressure had been too large for her to place, and by its ominous weight, she had assumed it as an enemy’s. However, now she realised she had encountered such a reiatsu only once before; while sparring her Captain in his demonic shikai, only days after returning to Sereitei and joining the 13th Division. As much as it had changed, this scent could only be-

As MockaDash- taicho’s infamous flowery haori caught the wind, the female shinigami almost laughed with relief. Behind him the hollow Shockster uttered one, last piercing cry, before its mask cracked, and its body was rent in half. It seemed, her drawn weapon was now not needed.

“MockaDash-taicho!” Hinata almost flew at her Captain- she was so relieved that he had returned safely that she almost forgot her manners. She skidded on one knee, stopping before him, her head bowed. When she raised her gaze, she noticed that a few of her squad members still looked baffled at the sight of Mock, and mentally slapped herself for forgetting. She hastily pointed them out in turn.

“We’ve had quite a few members join since you left, MockaDash- taicho… This is Orsumil, Sayuri, and Telemachus,” she introduced, gesturing at said shinigami.

(( Ack… sorry if I’ve left anyone out that has never seen Mock-taicho before… ))

Shockster

Shockster roared. He roared as his foot was impaled by several, sharp spikes, missing the girl by inches. Furiously wrenching away from the spears, he swung around, then-

It all happened in a second.

A cold, thin blade slipped through his mask, just between his eyes.

Then came the pain. The terrible, terrible pain. His head was splitting, his eyes bulging, his mouth agape in a wordless scream.

This feeling of death. He never thought he would experience it again. He knew, that at some point, he must have died before, and he had known, that at some point, he would die again. Icy fingers grasped at his ankles. Although he fought, the hands reached and grabbed from all directions, locking him in their pincer-like grip. One seized his throat, another covered his mouth, muffling, choking. A third slipped silently over his eyes, blocking what was left of the light. Soon, he was engulfed in a vortex of darkness. Despair overruled his senses. His consciousness was slipping away.

From his jaws came a ghostly howl.

"Damn you little flies! Damn you all! DAMN YOOOOOOOOOU!"

As the sickening split from the shoulder occurred, Hibiki jumped off the arm moments before it crashed as lifeless hunk to the ground. Landing next to it lightly, he watched as the enraged hollow turned on Saiyuri. However she was on the other side, and unless he ran through the hollow there was no getting over there to aid her at this time. Hopefully Alder'd be quick on his feet. About to continue to fend off the creature at his legs since he was that low, Hibiki lifted his sword to swing, but then it all happened at once.

The finishing blow was delivered, the strength of such a familiar reiatsu and the recognizeable figure appearing on the scene happening all at once. Stabbing his rapier's tip into the ground and leaning on it to the side as the Hollow was no more and their captain had graced them with his presence, Hibiki responded to his compliment, "Good to see you and thank you, Mock-taicho." No stammering happened as he still had his battle persona.

"Well, I suppose there's little point to remain here, is there?" Alder said with a light chuckle as his grin began to grow again. "It's good to have you back, Captain." on that note, he noticed the Shinigami bowing at Mock's feet. "You don't look so good....come with me." Alder said to Asuko. "You can lay on this." After he said that, four of his spears lined up side by side, making a levitating bed for Asuko to sit on. "I'll take you to the forth squad."

Alder nodded to Mock and Hinata before turning to Asuko again. He waited patiently for the shingami to get on the 'stretcher' Alder had constructed for him. "Assuming that we'll be going to the bar in our squad to celebrate, we'll see you guys there."

((I was waiting for everyone else to post before I did mine. And weren't we going to bring here some more powerful foes?

I'll let Liani handle that - unless she doesn't want to - since she's handling playing the bad-guy role quite well.

Any objections/suggestions? ))

(( Telemachus is taking a break from RPing, so I don't think we're going to see a reply from him. Not sure where Sayuri and Rei have gotten to...

Erm, what are the "more powerful foes", exactly? Menos? Arrancar?I'll say your reiatsu drew them here, since that's the only plausible excuse xD ))
PostPosted: Fri Apr 09, 2010 5:29 pm

(Alder will offer to bring him away, but a Garganta will open in the distance, allowing two Arrancar to escape from it. One Arrancar would be overpowered too quickly. Two would be just fine, since it would be Hibiki, Hinata, and any other shinigami besides myself against one, and Mock against the other one. I'd be providing support, since my spears are very useful for that purpose. Normally they're meant to engage multiple enemies at once if you're alone, but when you're in a group, their primary use is to support their fellows.)

((I'm sorry. I've been online, but I havn't had time to rp due to RL issues. I'm also sorry about the mix up. It won't happen again.))

"T-thank you..." Sayuri stuttered as Alder saved her life and took her away from the rampaging hollow. If Alder-sama hadn't stopped that hollow, I'd be as flat as a pancake now! she thought as she suddenly felt a crushing presence. Luckily, Sayuri still had enough energy to stand, but that only lasted a moment. Forced down onto the ground by the incredible spirtual pressure, Sayuri struggled to look up. The feeling soon eased and allowed Sayuri to catch a glance of a man sheathing his zanpakuto. The man was wearing two haoris, a sure sign of importance. For a moment Sayuri didn't know who this man was, but soon everyone's shouts told Sayuri who this man was. The man was the missing captain! This was Sayuri's first time seeing her captain, so she wanted to make a good impression. Dropping to a knee, Sayuri bowed low in an attempt to show respect before she stood up and dusted off her hakama.
