Isaac helped his brother out of the room and to a place where he could rest soundly. After a few minutes he returned and caught on to what was going on. Already the accusations were flying from two individuals. The young boy was not happy with the concept, but it wasn't all that bad an idea to put suspects on the table.
Isaac looked around the room, listening and noting proposed evidence, as well as trying to remember what he knew about the people there. Sadly, he hadn't been paying all that much attention last night, so he hadn't gotten a good look at anyone. Inno, the loud boisterous man with a superior attitude was an obvious target, but he didn't seem all that smart to be able to have done... this. That left the man in the black cloak, Leront. The girl Theodora from some far off place, she seemed pretty smart. The girl Robin, with such an aloof attitude towards their customs and his death. And lastly, the herbalist, apothecary Alene.
Isaac raised his hand to gain attention, "If you don't mind... I disagree with that man's accusation. Inno doesn't seem smart enough to do this... no offence. If what Leront says is true... and this actually a demonic act then... does that mean we're dealing with a wizard? Or Witch? If that's the case... then... I think Alene is the most likely. I've heard stories of witches when I was a child, and how they're always making potions and spells with herbs and random things found in the wild. Correct me if I'm mistaken." Isaac looked at Leront, then over to Alene.

"Yes, witches and warlocks do uses infernal powers to grant them their abilities, and from my experience in uncovering them, will sometimes use herbs and plants as ingredients of sorts," Leront spoke calmly, his tone somewhat distant as the male proclaimed his own thoughts. "However, I pose this question to you- do you know of the lands in which Constantinople is located?"
His eyes glanced back to where Theodora was standing, narrowing somewhat on her as he spoke. "If not, then let me inform you. Constantinople is located in Asia Minor, and is currently governed by Muslims. Though anyone can say, as the Crusades against them have caused quite a bit of confusion from my sources. The city is said to be in ruins."
"Surely, we all know of their teachings. Their denouncement of Jesus Christ, the son of our God. How coincidental that a woman of such origin happened to stay here on the same night of Father Jonathan's death."

After much deliberation, night fell. In the end, the vote was a three way tie...and thus, rather than go on a rampant murdering spree, they would let all three accused live. After all, there was no evidence as to who did it yet.
And thus, night fell.

The next morning, people woke up, and slowly came downstairs, one by one. It wouldn't be long before everyone was there. Everyone...except one that was. Richard would be noticed to come downstairs especially late.
Should they go up to his room, what they would find would not be pretty. He was there alright, lying on his bed. One would have thought he was sleeping...if it weren't for the fact that the bed under him had been dyed crimson, and there was blood pooling out from under the bed. Upon closer inspection, they would find that there were many round holes in the body.
Of course, they needed to know who did this, and what better way than to get evidence on the dead one. They would search through his stuff...only to find he was indeed, exactly as he had stated...a Blacksmith passing by. He had his tools, but none had blood, and his tools for making fire were obviously not used in the past few days. It appeared he just happened to be an unlucky passerby.

This morning, Theodora was up early. She did not get much sleep in the first place; that one man's accusations echoed in her mind, and she was barely able to contain her rage at the time. She had decided not to dignify the 'exorcist' with an angry and passionate retort, preferring to keep poise in the face of ignorance. If Theodora saw him again today, she would be able to...enlighten him of the current state of affairs in the east in a calm and collected manner. These barbarians needed the education anyway.
Stop. Do not think of these people in such a way. They are only human as well. Theodora sighed as, once again, the Lord chose to grace her with the good sense to reign in her judgment. Alas, it was so hard in this land, a land which birthed the people who took her home!
Looking around the breakfast area, Theodora didn't notice anything amiss. The other travelers who had come in with her were all there...weren't they?
No. One was missing. She ran through a mental list in her head of the various characters who had come in the night before. Wasn't there a smith of some sort? A blacksmith? She inquired one of the monks as to the whereabouts of the smith's sleeping quarters. Theodora followed the monk to the room and knocked. "Blacksmith? Are you awake?" She stood silent for a moment, waiting for an answer. There was none. Knocking again, she called, "Are you all right?" She looked over to the monk, who shrugged his shoulders. "Please excuse me for the intrusion," she said, as much to the blacksmith as to the monk, since it was not entirely proper for a lady to enter into a man's room. Thank goodness the monk was there with her. She pushed open the door a crack, saw the blacksmith's lying figure, and looked down to breathe a sigh of relief. He was still there. But wait a moment...
...Was that blood?
Hurriedly opening the door, she saw the man in a pool of blood starting to turn brown. Theodora covered her mouth with a shaking hand. Who had done such a terrible thing? The monk came in from behind her and gasped. "We must tell the others right away," Theodora whispered faintly, and together with the monk the returned to the breakfasters. Gathering her wits and recomposing herself, she announced to the room, "I am afraid there had been another murder."

Michael looked at Theodora in shock, this whole talk of bloodshed and murder was too much for the young lad. He turned to Isaac, eyes wide. The boy's chest continued to heave, until he broke into a fit of hyperventilation. He pushed himself away from the table, and moved towards the far side of the room to sob.
The only thing that could be heard was "What monk did...the outsiders kill?...What monk did...the outsiders kill?"

She was standing alone on one of the walls on the far corner looking down, but Alene's head shot up when Theodora came down to announce that someone else was dead.
"No... not again..." Alene said her voice trembling. She wrapped her arms around herself in fear. Her face paled and brown eyes widened. She felt as if something in her soul had left her.
Was this not a sacred place? So why...? Why was everyone dieing?
Alene's legs gave out on her as she fell onto her knees with tears in her eyes.

"How convenient that you are the one to find the body," Leront said calmly, his face stoic as his eyes narrowed at the woman he'd accused yesterday. However, shortly after she spoke, the young boy had started a mental breakdown and one of the women was following in his footsteps.
"You'd think the lot of them had never experienced death," he muttered to nobody in particular, standing up from his seat and coldly walked past Theodora toward the guest quarters. It was easy enough to guess which room it had been; some of the more nondescript monks were outside, crossing their chests and saying prayers with their rosaries.
"Excuse me, brothers," he commented politely, stepping through the doorway and into the room, viewing the scene. He would have to examine the body, but from the looks of things, the man had bled to death from wounds... but there was no sign of struggle?

Nell started coughing, her water going down the wrong pipe. Another murder? Two in two nights?! What was going on in this place?
Getting up after wiping her mouth, the traveller walked to the room, realizing quickly that she was apparently following Leront. Not that that was a problem for her.
Entering the room after him, she looked immediately to the bed, and shook her head at the blood. The burned body? That was too much. This, though? She could definitely handle it, after what she'd seen, this wasn't as bad.
Of course, without looking at it closely, she wouldn't be able to figure anything out. Hopefully something about this body would scream out a clue, unlike the last body.
And judging from the direction of Leront's look at the bed, he might've been thinking along the same lines as her.

Theodora watched the room's reactions, noting who was gagging and collapsing and who wasn't. Her eyes narrowed as Leront walked by her. Again, with the accusations! And unfounded ones at that! She followed behind the exorcist and returned to the scene. "Yes, well, I thank that 'the lot of them' have not been subjected to some of the horrors that this world holds. Thank the Lord for sparing some of that fate." She looked over the scene. As she had noted earlier, some of the blood had begun to brown. The initial shock had worn off, and she was able to view everything a little more calmly. She took a breath that was shaky on the inhale, but she managed to control the outward flow of air so as to steady her nerves. It was still hard to forget the past bloodshed she had seen. "And how is it convenient for me to find the body, may I ask? If I had committed the crime, why would I want to draw attention to it, especially since you so recently cast doubt upon my honor--and quite wrongfully so?" She bent down to examine some of the late blacksmith's tools, but found nothing.
Standing back up, she walked back toward the doorway and continued loud enough for everyone to hear. "I am afraid that you are wrong on several accounts; you might want to catch up on current events...for Constantinople has always carried the legacy of Rome after its fall; it is the frontier against nomadic invasions from Mongols, Rus, Arabs, and Turks, safeguarding the rest of the civilized world from their subjugation; and it is the protector of the true faith in the Lord our Father and his Son, Jesus Christ." She spun around to face Leront, eyes passionate and full of sorrow. "But we could not protect ourselves...from you. Your warriors, who claim to be followers of God, invaded our city and raped it. Fires burned for weeks. The Crusaders began to break into our churches and strip them of their precious metals, desecrating holy ground." Her voice turned cold. "Even your own Pope disapproved of the 'Crusaders' when he found out what they had done."
Theodora lowered her head to a side for a second, trying to fight the tears. "Can you imagine it? Your whole world, gone in a matter of days? A violent stranger, bursting into your room and knocking you around until you are unconscious? Waking up to an empty room with the body of your brother lying right beside you? I'd like to believe that God intervened and kept the Crusaders away from my purity; either that, or they did not think they would have any fun with a lifeless body. Most of us were forced to flee, having nothing left to carry."
She erected herself and looked the exorcist straight in the eye. "And so I stand here before you, a woman with nothing except for her name; a woman who God has chosen to undergo trial and tribulation so that she may prove her love and dedication to Him and emerge clean of sin in the end. And so, I entreat you, sir, to not be so hasty before you cast the first stone, for you throw it at another like yourself, a sibling in the faith. How are you loving thy neighbor? I have not done the same to you, and yet YOU have a darker mark than I do--you are an exorcist, are you not...?"

"Do you blame a man, who must surround himself in evil so that he may purge it, for assuming the worst when someone claims to have come from what, on all accounts, has been considered territory lost to the Ottoman Turks?" he responded with the same amount of emotion as before; that was, little to none. His tone, however, was no longer one as harsh as it was prior.
"I know well the results of the Pope's Crusades- the looting and pillaging done by the Knights due to Constantinople's inability to pay them what they wanted- greed corrupts even them, those claiming purity," he explained, muttering that last part as he neared the body, observing the holes. They were not 'clean cuts', nor were they rough tears. They were just... holes. Over and over. Without any sound of warning in the night.
Obviously sorcery.
"As someone else who loathes the knights for they have done, then, let me give you this warning," he spoke, lifting his prayer beads and readying himself for prayer. "If you want to prove yourself innocent, do not shout such loathing of 'me' and 'my warriors', or any of 'my' people, considering just the night before last, one of 'my' people was mysteriously murdered, with each of us suspect."
He muttered his prayer over the rosary, a solemn look gracing his features for but a moment before vanishing.
"More sorcery. Hellions are tainting this sanctuary with their foul ways...," he responded with a sigh, looking at the other two. "Anything unusual over there?"

While the other two were 'arguing', Nell took the time to search through the room. Mainly, Richard's bag.
The tools were clean and dry, the flint and other fire working tools seemingly untouched. Obviously the man took good care of his stuff, but it was definitely lacking in blood and anything else. Which means they also hadn't been used recently.
Searching more, she found lots of metal, scrap and useful, and a wallet. Opening it revealed coins of money, and Nell frowned at that. That meant something she didn't really want to fully consider.
Leront's call grabbed her attention, and she stood and turned to him. "Besides the fact that his tools were completely clean and clear? He still had his wallet in his stuff. Actually, it looks like nothing of his was touched. Which means he was killed for reasons other than his possessions..."
Nell had trailed off. It meant one of three things, then...but she'd get into them later. "What about you, Leront? Anything? Or you, Miss Theodora?"

"Well, the traitor who helped to bring about the end of the Queen of Cities had promised coin which he could not deliver. He was a fool." She nodded to Leront, her voice now more forgiving. "However, you are right, I should not be making such distinctions between us; in this moment, we are as one, pitted against a most horrendous spirit who chooses to eliminate us in the middle of the night. I...I hope that your...services will be of use to us before the end." Theodora swallowed hard, thinking about what these deaths really meant. Someone was hunting--no, toying with them.
She dismissed the thought and replied to Nell, "The murder seemed to have been committed some number of hours ago. One can tell by looking at the color of the blood. I wouldn't be surprised if it took place during one of the brothers' matins or lauds or...what was that other name? Vigils. Would one of the brothers have seen someone sneaking around at night, then? Or...what if it were one of their number?" Theodora looked back at the monks, now uneasy, and gave a little half bow in apology. "This is, of course, not an accusation, but...it wouldn't hurt to question everyone, would it?"

Robin stood silently in a corner, arms crossed, as she watched the proceedings. Suddenly, she was deeply regretting having so vociferously identified herself as a bandit. Even if this mysterious killer in the night didn't steal her life away, she could all to easily imagine the others turning on her, the known outlaw. Eventually, she couldn't take the stress any longer.
"Well," she said (snapped, really), "are we going to do something about this? You lot all got a bunch to say but you won't back it up with accusations. I'd like to hear from Inno. The departed (may he rest in peace) accused him yesterday . . . maybe he took his revenge, or wanted to silence him?"
"Not!", she hastened to add, "That I think you're the killer necessarily, sir! I don't know what to think right 'bout now, but I want to hear your account of yourself before I can quite trust you . . . you understand."

The frail little girl hobbled out from one of the rooms, swaying as she walked into the hallway. She was still drowsy from the events of her travels; she'd reached the monastery in such a poor state that she had slept for over a day!
"What's... Happening?" Constancia mumbled aloud, rubbing the sleep from her eyes as she gazed (or at least tried to) around her, her wild expanse of ginger hair making her look rather feral until you saw just how tiny and feeble she was. "What's happening? Where am I? Who are you people? Where's my daddy? DADDDYYYY??" she questioned, her tone becoming more frantic by the second before she broke out into a wail.
