Faleen sat for a moment, blinking a couple times at the girl, before she lowered her bug down onto the counter, lifting her head up off of her hand.
"don't take this as an insult, but it seems kinda odd that you would sign up for Rocket."
she had seen some unlikely people, but this girl took the cake, Faleen almost felt sorry for her.
"my name is Faleen" she answered, holding one of her hands out to the girl

Akemi reached out to shake Faleen's hand. "Well, at least there's one fellow Rocket who wouldn't rather see me dead", she said with a somewhat awkward smile.

She knew that she seemed like a very unlikely Team Rocket recruit, and usually if that came up she'd just shrug it off. This time, however, she felt like she needed to repeat the reason to herself, as well.

"Well.. I had my reasons to join. First of all.. I had always heard rumours about Team Rocket, even when I lived back in Orre. I know there are several criminal organizations all over the world, but Team Rocket's always been the most famous, most wide-spread", she began to explain, her face rather serious. "You see, there's someone I'm looking for. This was one of my reasons for joining - the resources. Other than that, I thought this would be the best place for me to improve both as a Trainer and as a person.." Finally, a lopsided grin spread on the girl's face. "And no one would expect someone that looks and acts like me to be a part of Team Rocket, right? Gives me a moment of surprise."

She sat back a little, stroking her Ivysaur's head. This was the first time she'd said as much. And still, the most important detail in her search for that someone, she decided to keep hidden.

Faleen listened quietly, quirking an eyebrow when she started to explain why she was there.
"hum" she hummed softly, lifting a coffee to her lips. "I'm not going to presume to judge you on your skills, since I don't know how you battle at all or anything. I know where your coming from, about getting better, getting stronger, its all I'm hoping for at the moment"

Eying the girl for a moment, before returning her attention to her coffee. "you might want to be a little careful who you tell that story to. team loyalty is pretty important to allot of Rockets, if they found out you joined for such a blatantly selfish reason like using them to find someone, they might not take kindly to that. would be a good idea to change that perspective."
she pointed out, her voice remaining as level as it had been.
Not being cruel, but she was certainly going to be cautious of her.

The dark-haired girl smiled then, a slight blush growing on her pale cheeks. "Oh, trust me, loyalty isn't an issue.." she said, waving her hands a little. "I knew when I signed up that I would die if I ever attempted to leave the organization", she continued, her tone noticeably calmer than before. She knew her story sounded rather selfish - to an extent it indeed was - but she never revealed a few crucial details to it.

She had a deeper reason to join Team Rocket - the need to follow in her parents' footsteps. Her brother, as well - the person she was looking for.

Sadly, Akemi was no scientist - she had hardly any talent with computers and such. Her hope lay entirely on her skills as a Trainer, as well as in thievery.
She took a sip of her iced tea and looked up to Faleen, grinning. "And you know, compared to a few other organizations that I've heard of or gotten involved with, well, let's just say I would much rather die for Team Rocket."

Faleen nodded softly, looking down into her mug, finding her coffee was gone, save for a thing ring of creamy brown around the bottom of the cup.
"thats certainly a much better attitude to have" came her reply after she stared at the absence of her coffee for a moment longer.
the Grunt grinned at the other girl, placing her mug back down on the table, then bringing her fingers up to lace it through the front strands of her dark blond hair, tucking it behind her ear as she turned to Akemi.
"hope you toughen up, good luck fellow Grunt"
and with that she stood, making a pokeball in her hands large, to recall her Umbreon.
