Despite how the little green tried to be graceful, she stumbled now and then. Quite a few young girls would get bruises on their legs from where the green stumbled and bumped into their bodies.
As young dragonets went, however, she was as gently as could be, and as she passed by the girls, she nudged her nose into their arms and hands.
It was when she got halfway through this group that she left out a long, high-pitched croon of delight and bounded her way through the remaining female candidates. She paused for a moment as she barelled through one, giving them a squeak of surprise and being more careful in the remaining sprint.
Straight to the boys that little green dragon went, and when she found Hers, she did a quick circle in front of him before sitting down as polite as could be.
Why are you looking all the way over there, Ilorazmine? I am here! She cocked her head to the side, as if waiting for his approval and added. Your Betteth wants to ask Skananth how the meat is. Let's hurry!

Early to bed, early to rise. That's what makes a man healthy, wealthy, and wise.
At least, that was how the saying went.
M'dor wasn't the best of morning people, and he certainly had been less than thrilled to be woken up at the crack of dawn. Hatching or no Hatching, he liked to at least see the sunlight when he finally rolled out of his sleeping furs. But events like this were not to be missed, and the Weyrsinger had dressed as quickly as his sleepy hands had allowed and gone for his riding straps.
Ichoth had been practically vibrating with excitement, fidgeting constantly even as he suited her up for the short flight to the Hatching Sands.
Oh Mine hurry! Please hurry! I want to see the hatclings! The green had scarcely waited until her rider was seated before taking off at full throttle, extremely eager to make it to the Hatching Sands in time. It was only once she caught sight of the sheer number of dragons that she faltered, and had to be convinced to land with the others. Even as she settled, wings pulled tight against her body in an effort to make herself look smaller, Ichoth's eyes still whirled with excitement.
Is the girl here? The one who makes music? She asked, peering out over the heads.
M'dor scratched his head for a moment, trying to decide who his green was talking about, before he asked, Jadamirei? Oh, yes, there she is right there. He pointed towards the former Harper Apprentice.
I wish her the best of luck. Ichoth lifted her head a little to get a better look at Jadamirei, incase the girl looked up to see the pair of them.

Wait, what?
Gah!
Layla dodged quickly as the spotted green shot past her, and once again felt her heart sink once she was over the surprise of having to move so fast. Not for her. Another not for her... but only the second to Impress. There were five more yet that might want her. Five more. Keep hoping. She was doing alright so far, right? She'd moved in time not to get knocked down or hurt or anything, though it did look as though one girl had gone over. She didn't look badly hurt though, thank the first egg.
Blowing out a long slow breath, Layla turned once more to the unhatched eggs and tried to keep her mind as open as it could possibly be. Here she was. Shells, please let her lifemate be here too.

Yet another Impression without any bloodshed, even if there had been some slight bumps along the way from a dragon being clumsy. Yulu was almost starting to grow calm with how smooth things seemed to be going despite the fact that Bronze still hadn't Impressed and the one in the Grey hadn't made any more moves, but she knew better then to put all her eggs in one basket before things were through. There were five eggs still left on the sands and any one of them could possess something that would stain the Sands red, given the chance.
She could recall that there were two more that had felt Impatient and Hostile, so it wasn't a matter of time rather than simply being a matter of when. She would be prepared and not let anything happen, or she'd get hurt trying. there was no need for her to feel so upset and in want, there were healers on the sands to help ( even germaphobic Tofir, she noticed ), but it was like her duty demanded she not allow a repeat.
Ever.

((omg so late! of course it had to start while i was out for a valentines day dinner!))
Cass had run in with the other girls, a thin sheen of sweat on her forehead as she stood on the blazing hot sands, her heart in her mouth, waiting, watching the eggs twitch and then begin to hatch. She tried to follow her own advice that she had been talking about with Layla only a few days before. Be calm, take a deep breath, it was all up to the dragon. Just...try and be open. She took a deep breath with her eyes closed, released it, and opened them once more, sending out welcome to all the new dragonets. oh please choose me... was all she could chant over and over to herself as she watched and waited.

Lelia watched with bated breath as the green moved through the girls, only to dash over to the boys. Oh dear, it seemed the boys were getting all the luck now, weren't they? Still there were five eggs left. There was still a chance. Still a glimmer of hope. There was always hope. She relaxed her muscles, opened her minds, and divided her attention between the foot sticking out of the grey egg, and the remaining, unhatched eggs. Patience. That was what it took. Patience, and open heart, and lots of love. She tried sending those thoughts towards the dragons, and could only pray that fate was on her side today.

As she took another deep breath, Cass' minor panic seemed to recede and she could make out what was happening now. A green tumbled at the feet of most of the girls, making the blond take a careful step back so that she was not caught up in the tumble. She watched the green hopefully, but it was not to be, it hurriedly rushed over to the boys side, and she sighed. Oh well...Five to go! Five more chances! Feeling more like herself now, she bobbed slightly on the balls of her feet, eagerly watching the other eggs. The gray speckled one hadn't moved any more since its foot had poked out, and it was still impossible to tell the color. Was something wrong? Or was it just not ready to come out and meet the world yet? she hoped it was okay, it would be terrible if it never even got the chance to impress a candidate. Looking around at the other girls, she noticed, much to her amusement, that Yulu had somehow ended up in the boys section. She muffled a giggle at this and spotted Layla further down the line. She would have waved, but she didn't want to distract the girl, or herself for that matter. Full of determination, the petite girl looked back towards the rocking eggs, watching them closely, waiting.

Jadamirei was one of the (un)lucky girls who the lovely green dragonet bumped into. Luckily, however, not the girl who got bowled over when the energetic green apparently found Hers. She watched the green wobble across the bowl, brightly smiling. Her eyes went back to the stands, to see Y'kar sitting among them. She let her eyes drift over the dragons at that time to see if she could identify Kannaroth. On the way, her eyes drifted over another green that looked... Ichoth?
Her blue eyes drifted over the crowd in the stands until she found the Weyrsinger. She gave a shy wave in his general direction, hoping he would catch it, before her hand jerked back down to her side and she looked straight ahead. No matter what happened with the Hatching, she had at least one thing to look forward to!
Verianne was one of the lucky few who had been further down the line of girls than the green had gotten. She watched the green prance across the sands towards the boys, and was oddly grateful she wasn't that boy. That egg, and probably that dragonet, had been and were entirely too energetic.

It was the Three Spots Egg that wiggled next, though it was hard to see it move due to its position. What candidates may have noticed, however, was the flurry of noise that seemed to be coming from inside the shell. All kinds of sounds, from squeaks to warbles to the occasional squeal. What exactly was going on in that little amused egg?
The sound stopped only for a moment and then a head thrust its way up through the top of the egg shell to peer at the audience. Goodness! Look at all those people! The dragonet inside – its head a dark green – seemed positively delighted. It was the dragons that seemed to fascinate her most, and she tipped her head and trilled up at her mother.
Kaveth responded with a soft rumble and the green practically broke out of her shell in sheer joy. With a few well-placed kicks the hatchling finally immerged from her dark shell. Quite pleased with herself, the green lifted her head and bugled, fanning her wings wide around her. She was here, everybody, she was here!

The spotted green was absolutely beautiful, and Kylar delighted in seeing her pick hers. This hatching was even more exciting than the last he had attended, filled with happy hatchlings and an over-all good atmosphere.
His attention turned to the new little green, her little wings spread as if to make sure everyone knew that she now held the floor.

Lelia's attention turned away from the unmoving foot to the three spots egg, as the dark green dragonet emerged. Oh, how precious! Just look at her enthusiasm, the way she greeted her mother, and how happy she was to be here! That was the right attitude, and it was endearing. Lelia couldn't help but smile at the green, share in her joy to be out of the egg. Hopefully she would find hers without incident, and there would be no injuries; though it seemed unlikely such a happy, silly dragonet as that would knowingly inflict harm upon anyone.

What a sweet green! Layla actually giggled as the dragonet called out to the world and flapped her little wings. She had expected something bouncy and enthusiastic from the feeling she'd got from the egg. Might that one be for her? Did she want her? She wasn't all that forward, she wasn't much of an explorer, not an eager investigator of new things... but maybe the happy green didn't mind? Would the happy green come this way? Would it look to her?

Cass' breath caught in her throat as the little green all but exploded out of the spotted egg after much noise and excitement. She could all but feel its joy pouring out and brushing up against her, making her heart beat faster, making her smile brightly in response. Welcome welcome! she called out mentally, watching as it looked up at its mother and the other dragons, seemingly fascinated. It was an adorable thing, so lively too!

All thoughts of the grey speckled egg flew out of his mind as the little green bounded away from the girls and sat down in front of him.
Why are you looking all the way over there, Ilorazmine? I am here! Her head was cocked to the side, almost as if she was waiting for his approval and then added. Your Betteth wants to ask Skananth how the meat is. Let's hurry!
"So you are," he responded, grinning. This was better than he ever could have imagined. "Let's go get you something to eat."
The little green bounded off, towards her sibling and the feeding table, looking back to make sure that Iloraz was following her. Come on mine!

Yet another Green, how quaint. Yulu was pretty sure the list she'd written down in her room in terms of dragons being which color for which egg was entirely wrong now, at least she knew for the original Bronze, but she may have been spot on for that Blue and the Last Green. She still couldn't tell with the Grey staying in its shell as it were, though when the egg with the spots cracked she marked that down in her mind to for later comparison.
Still, she would wait for now to see what would happen, keeping an eye on the other two just in case.
