"Thank you!" Izzy said, grinning from ear to ear. Her best friend didn't think she was gross! That was good!
"Ah, thank you," Henri snorted, "Good for the ego." Certainly the only way to know would be to ask the man, as he didn't seem to be one to read minds.

Of course he didn't! Zach thought Izzy was pretty cool. "You know," He said conversationally, "If anyone's ever mean to you, I'll sting them for you. I'll sting them bad."
"And you need an ego." Rene punched his arm again. Great. Now she had a lot to think about.

"Okay," Izzy nodded. She really hoped nobody was ever mean to her, but it was nice to know her best friend would brutally maim someone for her. besides, you were supposed to pee on jellyfish stings, and that was gross. She only wished she had something to give in return!
"I know, I know," Henri said, giving a little self-depreciate chuckle and rubbing the back of his neck, "I try."

Izzy swam to the rocks that slid from the lighthouse into the ocean and sat on one that was relatively round.
"There's boats down here," she said, "Wrecked ones. That's why daddy works here. The machine wasn't doin' good by itself."
Henri nodded.
"I get that a lot. Maybe some day I'll listen."

"We can go exploring them one day." Zach decided. There was probably all sorts of neat stuff down there!

"Once I can hold my breath better," Izzy nodded. Maybe some day she would get taught how to breathe under water. That would be helpful!
