cool Coolness cool Dark_Knight_Kai Saw the movie this afternoon mrgreen loved it but, I was a bit disappointed in some parts that were added into the movie and parts omitted from the book. Mini-spoiler: the okiya almost burning down in a struggle between Hatsumomo and Sayuri never happened in the book; Granny death wasn't shown; the whole jade brooch incident between Hatsumomo and Chiyo wasn't shown in the movie; and they didn't go into too much detail with Sayuri's mizuage, which is kinda a good thing xD. I finished reading the book (again) just a few days ago and yeah, my friend that was watching with me was pretty lost xD, so I think you really should read the book first. The ending was great and Sayuri finally finds happiness; the whole locale of the last scene was breath-taking as well. My favourite part would have to be Sayuri's Dances of the Old Capital performance, loved her big shoes in that one too xD, but seriously great performance on Zhang Ziyi's part ^^. Sesshy just bought the book, and in the store, I read aloud to myself the part about the man milk on Hasumomo. XDDD It was wonderous. So, I'm assuming the book is better than the movie? DAMN STRAIGHT.

The book is always better. The movies are based on the director's point of view. In any movie based on a book, many parts are left out.

OMG I JUST SAW IT YESTERDAY AND LOVED IT.
So, there's a part near the end where it shows a covered bridge over a lake at some temple..
I'VE BEEN THERE! (:
inorite?
Yeah I saw it and was like, "HOMFGKDSLLvjVB! I've been there!"
It was totally cool.
I thought it stayed to the book pretty well, except for the fire, and I LOVED it from a perspective of looking at the cinematography and everything. I hope it wins some awards. (:

For those who care, I'll going off my addiction are classic litterature and switching to this MoaG.
So far, 30 pages in the book and so far, I'm extremely addicted.
Although the description could use some work (But since it starts as a young child, the observations she makes at such a young age are understandable)
the developpement of the people are well-structured and the curiosity I rarely get has been dieing to know where this bony man is taking this future-geisha and her sister.
I love it and everyone knows I'm a pessimisitic and picky guy n_n
