Quite probably meisen then. I don't know why, but they're all exceptionally short.
It makes me sad, since there's no way I could even pull them off without ohashori.

My sensei has been lusting after my haori for the past week. I'm pretty sure she wants to buy it from me. XDD

I told her that it's not jimi, it's iki. She laughed, and said she still wants my haori. She just turned, like, 70 on Friday. XDDD

So my newest kimono is too small for me...or rather, my a** is too big for it. It's got a little bit of moth damage, too; my sensei and I were looking at it to see if it had potential for new life as a haori. We settled on wearing it as a housecoat, or dressing up my more petite friends in it.

Okay, so I just won a new komon, but I have no idea what obi I should wear with it. Any suggestions?

Ooh, that's really cute! I'd love to see it with a bright blue obi and leaf-green accessories. It's got a lot going on, so probably one of those mostly-solid nagoya style ones with a single design on the front and otaiko.

@Shakespearerules Late reply, my apologies. Re: compression with sarashi, I've never actually measured. For me, it's more about the smooth line, which really helps with the collars. Here's a pic of me in yukata with sarashi. Moonblossom has seen other pics of me (in and out of wafuku) so she can probably agree/disagree as for how well it works (for me, at least). As for obi for your kimono, I agree, something mostly solid as the kimono is busy. Or else stripes, like black and white (or other stripe color combo). Hakata would probably work, too, and provide nice contrast to what I assume is dye work on the kimono. Love the bright red base color! I guess obi choice depends on what kind of look/feel you're going for.

So my kimono collection won a recent contest at my college, and is now being displayed in the library as a special collection! I got to dress the mannequin in my too-small houmongi, and I tied the obi in a fukura suzume, since it would be more eye-catching than a regular taiko musubi. It's not my best work, since it was my first time tying a fukura suzume, but it's good enough for a mannequin in a glass case (and I'm the only one on campus who will know that it's less than perfect XDD).
Sadly, though, now most of my items for kitsuke are on the mannequin, which makes practicing a little tough. I've been using pieces of yarn for koshihimo, and my ace bandage that I use for binding as an obimakura. xp

I agree with moonblossom! That's so exciting. What kind of contest was it?
