"It's a bad day." Eppi whispered back, simply holding Pizzi and comforting the boy as best he could. He was running his fingers though the boy's blond hair all over again, trying to calm Pizzi as much as himself.
Basil blinked, ears picking up the slight strain on the ties of Pia's elevated leg and the way the covers didn't seem to quite fit right over his body. The teen made his own deductions and winced at the sound of the girl's voice.
"Burn." Was all he said as he held up his padded hand. He knew he should smile, but he didn't. "What are you doing here Pia? And more importantly, why have you left Pizzicato alone?" Basil didn't mean to sound harsh or judgmental, however, Pia needed to know that she had someone else in her life now who loved her for her. She couldn't just abandon Pizzi no matter how she felt.

A few tears dropped down onto his shoulder, the grip tightening. "It's just a little rain..." He murmured, choking slightly. Other than the occasional sniffle, he made no other noise.
"I'm here because I didn't succeed." She simply said, looking away, out at the window. "I just had a little fall, that's all." She winced slightly at the mention of the star, but didn't show it through her voice. "He's not alone any more....He has you, and yours, right...? Epsilon, right...?" She trailed off, still broken.
Her face darkened for a moment, and something quietly left her lips, all that Basil could make out were the words death and father.

Epsilon wasn't sure he understood, but he held Pizzi all the same, wishing his friend wasn't so sad.
Basil frowned. She didn't succeed in her own death? Is that what Pia meant? The teen frowned harder, moving a bit closer. "He needs you Pia. He belongs to you and you need to take responsibility for him instead of running away." He replied just as his sensitive hearing picked up the last of the girl's words.
Sighing, the blond sat on the edge of the bed, reaching out to touch Pia's hand lightly. "He's not worth it Pia." Basil said softly. "I know it seems like he is, but he really isn't. I figured out a long time ago that it's useless to try and meet the high expectations of any parent. Just do your best and be happy because you know you've done well, not because you've gotten some fleeting words of praise from a person who doesn't matter."

After a while, the star child let go, still leaning into his friend. "I.....I....uhm...." He mumbled, still slightly shy. "T-Thank you...Epsilon..."
Piaotte said nothing for a while, just staring up at the ceiling. "....Why me...? Why just me? I can't take care of anything....I don't have the means to..." She trailed off, biting her bottom lip slightly as her voice fluctuated. Basil was starting to poke at some sensitive places in her mind, and she didn't like it at all.
Her hand jerked a bit at the touch, but settled down as soon as the feeling became more natural. "I'm not safe anymore...." She murmured, looking away, "I can't take care of Pizzicato, because I have no home....I can't play violin because it's destroyed in....in...t-that man's apartment." She struggled with herself, unable to say his name again. "I have no where to go.....Because if I go home, he'll kill me....And mom too...."

"S'okay." Epsilon smiled, hugging Pizzi slightly. "It's okay to be sad sometimes...but just not all the time." He nodded wisely with a silly grin that made his lilac eyes sparkle.
"No one will kill you Pia." Basil replied fiercely. "And you're not alone. I'm here and so are Epsilon and Pizzicato. I'll help you Piaotte, I promise." He squeezed the girl's hand lightly, sensing that she may be close to tears or shutting down again. "You can come and live with me if you like. I have the space." He stated rather suddenly, remembering what Pizzi had mentioned to Epsilon earlier.
"Would you like that?" He asked, voice still soft. "We'll get you a new violin and everything. And then maybe I can kick that b*****d of a pastry chef out of my house." He added in a grumble.

"You....Make me...happy." Pizzi murmured, smiling quietly as he shyly looked at Eppi. "Very...happy."
Piaotte bit her lip even more at the sudden offering of help and a living space. "I....I...I couldn't possibly..." She whimpered, trying to hold everything back, lest she would scare the nurses into thinking she needed to be tranquilized again. It had happened about 3 times over the past 24 hours, and they were starting to get sick of it. "I-I'd be a burden...."
"P-Pastry Chef....?" She whined, "I c-couldn't kick so-some poor person o-out! A-And y-you shouldn't waste your m-money on such silly little things like a v-violin!" Her hand trembled, along with the rest of her body. "I-It's what got me i-i-into this to begin w-w...wi-...with...!"

Epsilon blushed pink and smiled softly. "I'm glad." He murmured, cuddly with Pizzi. "You make me happy too."
"Calm down Pia." Basil replied sternly though his voice still had a gentle quality to it. "I can see where Pizzi gets the worry for money from. I have more of the stuff than I care to think about and I'd rather buy silly little things that'll make someone happy." He added resolutely.
Basil's heart went out to the girl. He could feel her trembling beneath his hand and he wondered how he could soothe her. Gently, he reached out and petted the girl's dark hair, a similar gesture to Epsilon's.
"I'm not going to pretend to understand exactly what all you're going through Piaotte, but I know that I do want you to come live with me. And Forney is not some poor person. He's a brat and deserves what he gets, though I would never throw him out." Basil wrinkled his nose with a light chuckle. "Won't you say yes, Pia?" He asked.

Pizzicato smiled gently, kissing the tip of Epsilon's nose in an affectionate motion. "You're my little jar of sunshine." He smiled. "That makes me the cloudy days, huh?" The star laughed, musical laughed ringing through the halls.
"Oh god, what did he d-do..?" Piaotte stuttered, still trying to get the reins on her emotions. "M-money isn't something to be wasted though! I-I'd feel h-h-horible if I wasted a-any of yours! B-Basil...." She whined, tears finally coming loose. They streamed down her cheeks, some getting soaked into bandages. "I'm sorry...I'm sorry..." She sobbed, voice cracking as she tried to keep quiet. "I'm so sorry..."
Piaotte continued to cry quietly as he patted her head, though he gained a few gasps when his hand would hit a sore area or a group of bandages. Though eventually, her sobs calmed down, and she lay quietly, cheeks red and puffy from the release.
She laughed quietly when he mentioned Forney. "H-he sounds like a colorful g-guy...." She murmured, sniffling, a small smile on her face. "S-so he won't be completely h-homeless?" The stutter remained, probably because her vocal chords weren't cooperating. But she went silent again at the offer. "...you sound like you're asking me to marry you." She embarrassingly stated, smiling slightly.

Epsilon went cross-eyed at the kiss before blushing bright red. Pizzi's laugh was music to his ears and he giggled in response. "No, that just makes you my sky." He murmured sweetly, cuddling Pizzicato close.
Basil didn't even reply to the issue on the money. There was no way he was going to change Pia's mind so he would let the disagreement lie. He continued to remain silent as Piaotte cried herself out. It was his opinion that a good cry did wonders for the soul, though he hadn't meant to make her wince at his touch. Again, he damned his blindness.
"No, he won't be homeless...yet." The blond smiled, though when Pia finally spoke, though he did flush a bit in embarrassment as he realized what he had asked. "As much as I would love for your hand in marriage Pia," Basil teased, "let's just keep to our friendship for now. Just under the same roof." There was no way he was letting Pia go back to whatever life she was in before. If the girl didn't protest, he was definitely going to take her into his home.

Pizzicato smiled gently, cuddling back into Epsilon. "Sun and Sky, huh...? Just like the Land and the Sea..." He smiled, relaxing a bit.
"That's good....I...wouldn't want to have you or me be blamed...People act oddly when another person is their outlet for rage." She murmured, wincing a little bit. "Trust me...I know all too well." However, at the teasing she too turned bright pink, glancing away. "Hehe~....As much as I wish you were proposing," She Piaotte teased back, "I accept."
Pizzicato sometimes had ears better than they should have been, and managed to hear only part of the exchange. "Pia's getting married to Basil?" He questioned to Epsilon, utterly confused.

Epsilon was happy with the cuddles until Pizzi's question hit him. "Er...no? I don't think so?" He didn't sound to sure though and he looked rather worried.
Basil smiled widely when Piaotte accepted. "Thank you Pia." He replied in warm relief. "And I promise you, now one is ever going to hurt you again. No matter how angry they seem." The teen replied warmly. He was just about to get the boys when Epsilon ran into the room with Pizzi.
"You can't get married!" Eppi cried, flinging himself at a rather confused Basil and clutching him tightly. "You just can't."
"Hang on now. We're not getting married." He assured with a laugh, glancing wryly at Pia. "We're just kids sweetheart." Basil picked up the rather frantic star child up to soothe him.

"Mmm...I suppose not." Pizzicato frowned, keeping to himself the quiet and happy thoughts. He hid the fact that his heart had dropped when he said no, but smiled.
"Although...It will be a while until I can leave." She murmured, looking at her leg. "Or at least move on my own." The girl sighed, then nearly jumped when the two boys ran in.
"Oh wow. Someone has big ears." She laughed, looking at a sheepish Pizzi, who just crept back to the door, sheepishly peeking in as guilt hit him.
Pizzicato sheepishly stood there, fighting the urge to go and run off somewhere else where Eppi wouldn't get upset at him. Maybe it would be better if he didn't talk ever again...? Or at least not to Eppi, or around him...

After a few more minutes of hugging and reassurance from Basil, Epsilon was mollified and wiggled out of his caretaker's arms. "They're not getting married!" The child told Pizzicato with a grin, snugging the male while not knowing that he was upset.
This unneeded announcement on Epsilon's part had Basil chuckling to himself. "We'll visit you every day." He assured Pia with a smile. "It'll give me and Eppi some well needed exercise."
"I don't need exercise!" The star child squeaked from beside Pizzi.
"You do, so hush." Basil replied, turning back to Piaotte. "You being here and recovering will also give us time to get a room set up for you and Pizzi. Do you want me to take Pizzi for the time being or leave him here with you?" He asked gently, glancing blindly at Pizzi for a moment, wondering what the boy would want to do as well. There was also the question of Pia's things from her home, but that could be worked out later.
"Sleepover, sleepover!" Epsilon cried happily, smiling once again now that he knew Basil wasn't going to be taken from him.

Pizzicato looked down, staying still in Epsilon's grip. Nothing left his mouth, not even the sound of humming from earlier.
"That would be re-assuring...Thank you." Piaotte smiled to Basil. "So, what do you want to do, Pizzicato?" She then looked over to the star child, who gently got out of Epsilon's grasp and calmly walked over, clinging to Piaotte's hospital gown. "Well....I guess he's staying here." She smiled, feeling bad that she couldn't pat his head.
Pizzicato continued to say nothing, just clinging. He didn't even look up at Basil, face blank with indifference.
"Oh my god!" Came a cry from the doorway, a tall woman standing there. "My BABY!" She rushed over, pink hair flying behind her in its braid like a whirlwind, and began to cling and snug Piaotte, sobbing. Her glasses poked into her shoulder and neck, as she bawled. "My sweet little girl got all suicidal again! I told her to call Mama when that happened~! Did Mama fail her sweet little girl?!"
"Oww, oww, Mom!!!" Pia cried, struggling a little bit. "I'm okay! I'm okay! Don't make anything worse!"

Epsilon's features crumbled when Pizzi left him. He didn't know why the other boy was acting this way. Not knowing what else to do, the little star child burst into tears just as a strange woman came in.
Alarmed by both the crying and the new person, Basil quickly bent and scooped Eppi up into his arms, trying to shush him. Epsilon was having none of it though and simply pressed his face to Basil's shoulder as he wept quietly. He didn't know what to do to keep Pizzi from hurting!
"This is...your mother?" Basil asked in confusion. How had her father hurt her them with this obviously loving, if weird, woman around.
