Shadow had made it to the dump in record time and sliped into a concrete tunnel that led to a long since burried building. This was his and Trixie's home. There was matresses and dirty clothing allover the place making ideal bedding. And the building was complete covered in garbage hiding their scent and keeping the warm or cool when ever they needed. He sat down at the end of the tunnel and waited for trixie.

Trixie ventured out of the box when the crashing noises had stoped and looked around for her companions. The drizzle had all but washed away their scent. I guess I'll go back to the dump then. she sighed and headed for the only home she knew.

She crossed Shadow's border without a care in the world. She had nothing to fear from him. She looked around, hesitant, before she slipped into the tunnel that led to their underground hoval.

Bo laughed as it started to rain. "Alright! I love the rain!!" Bo laughed and jumped as he ran through the rain. Bo finally reached the dump. Bo found a chicked bone that stil had some clinging to it. Bo picked it up and took it to his home, a small hole in the mountain of garbage. He had wisely made a door out of hundreds of pieces of trash, giving off enough smells to cover Bo's own scent as long as he was inside of the hole, which was probably why Shadow never found him in the dump. Bo looked at his home. "You know what? Screw it. It's raining outside and that is exactly where I'm eating. Bo plopped down where he was, and started knawing on the chiccken bone. Let him find me.

Kipcha's ears flicked towards the calls of the female dog that followed, she cautiously exitted, and shivered in the heavying rain. "Please, enter." She showed the way to a pile of mattresses that had been moved into a sort of shelter. Crawling in, she noticed the blood that dripped from the injured paw, "Do you need help?" Kipcha didn't talk much, and she hopped that the female wouldn't mind that.

Haru watched as the rain fell harder and harder, bouncing off the pavement and forming large puddles. Haru didn't like rain, or to be wet for a long time, so he was quite gloom as he lay in the packing crate. He thought about the noises he heard, growling and the crash of bottles, but sleep took over him as he closed his eyes.

Current Weather in the City: Rain, continuing through the night. Temperatures cooling to 55 degrees Fahrenheit.

Kona liked the quiet female so far. She dragged her injured paw into the den the female had constructed. The rain was really coming down now, and her coat wasn't doing the best job of wicking away the moisture. "Nah, it'll be fine" she responded. "Name's Kona" she said, before leaning down to lick her paw again. It stung, and she could feel the piece of glass quivering inside her paw pad. "On second thought, I know we just met, but could you do me a huge favor? Just n** that little guy out of there?" She picked her back paw up, showing the dirty mess it'd become.

Meanwhile, Scat had continued down the street, now covered in water and sneezing occasionally. He'd lost the scent of Trixie and Shadow, and the collie was nowhere to be seen. Just need to find a place to sleep for the night. The familiar scent of wet garbage wafted into his nose. He snorted to see the chain-link fence covering most of the large junkyard. The bottom had a pushed in area, obviously where other dogs had entered. He wiggled underneath it and nestled under an old moldy couch propped up on some tires. He closed his eyes and listened to the rain fall.

Trixie wagged her tail at Shadow. "I knew I'd find you here."

Shadow smiled at her. "You know I don't like the rain. or having things thrown at me." He moved over on the mattress to give her more room.

"It looks like it will rain all night. I hope the others found some place dry to sleep." She said curling up against him. Her snow white fur standing out against his coal black fur.

He said nothing about the other dogs. "Goodnight Trixie." He said curling his large body around her to keep her warm.

"Mmmmm, goodnight." she murmered sleepily.

Bo had finished the chicken and continued to let the rain pound onto his fur. "Mmmmm... I love it when it rains." Bo wondered what had happened to the other dogs. The rain disguised all of the scents, so Bo couldn't tell if they were near.

Kaya loved the way the rain smelt. Her fur was wet and matted, but she was loving every minute. She never had had an owner, and this was the way she liked it. Kaya was smart enough to avoid streets and pounds, because if she got caught, then she would have to live in one place forever. No way. That was not the way Kaya rolled. Seeing a mud patch, she dove muzzle first and began to roll and roll and roll...

Kipcha eyed the wound, then gently used her teeth to grab the shard, although this would sting quite a bit. Discarding the glass shard behind the mattresses, where no one should be able to step on it again, she replied, "I'm Kipcha. Pleasure." Kipcha showed a small smile to the collie.

Haru's soft growling was drowned out by the roaring wave of noise the rain made as it swept through the allys and streets.

Shadow and Trixie slept on oblivious to the rain pounding on the rubbish above their home. They were warm and comfortable and had nothing to fear here, This was their safe haven. Trixie dreamed of the bech on a warm sunny day and finding an old soccor ball to play with. She dreamed of playing with imaginary strays like herself, all of them carefree and having fun.
Shadow dreamed of hidden things. Things that lurked in the shadows that growled and clawed at you. He dreamed of metal cages and loud voices, dogs crying and screaming, and no escape.

The constant rain pounding Bo's fur was comfortable and a perfect lullaby, though he knew his dreams were no sanctuary. Bo stayed awake through the night, grateful for his thoughts keeping him company.

Kaya was tired. She hadn't found anyone today. Oh well. Kaya wasn't fazed by much, and this was nothing. She trotted down along a highway, long since abandoned. She swerved into a ditch, and crawled into a small tunnel. She lay down and fell softly to sleep.

Kona hissed when the shard of glass exited her foot. "Thanks Kipcha." she said, smiling back. "I'll just sleep here by the door" she said, laying down. "I appreciate it." The collie fell into a fitful sleep, tiny drops of water finding their way onto her nose.

The smell of the street-cleaner was what woke her from her sleep. She snorted and yawned. It was still a little overcast, and there were puddles everywhere, but the clouds were beginning to disperse. The collie stood quietly and exited the den, shaking herself off. Food needed to be found, and she did owe the black female still resting inside. She waited outside, letting the smells of the city fill her nose, for Kipcha to wake up.

Scat woke up to a much less pleasant smell, that of rotting fruit. He hadn't noticed, but there were a few rats living in the far corner of the couch, and they'd packed their nest full of old banana peels, cantaloupe rind and apple cores. Yuck The shepherd crawled out from under the couch cautiously, looking around for any sign of dog or human. It was early, the sun not even peeking through the buildings yet.

Scat trotted back to the broken fence and wiggled out of the junkyard. He wandered down the alleyways, sniffing for food, wondering what had happened to the dogs he'd met last night.

The sounds of the awakening city was quiet in the early hours of the morning. Haru emerged from his small shelter, aching from his restless sleep. As he stretched, he noticed the large puddles that littered the ally-way. While he walked in his search for food, he avoided the troubling waters, not wanting to get wet.

The ring of an alarm clock from the neighboring building pulled Kipcha from her sleep. She sleepily yawned and stretched shortly before seeing Kona. "Good morning, Kona," Kipcha said quietly, she still wasn't much of a talker when it came to other dogs, but soon, she should be able to talk openly.

Kona turned to see Kipcha emerging from her home. "Goodmorning to you too," she replied. "If you're up for it, my stomach is growling like a bus engine. You know anywhere we can get some grub?" The female was nice enough, and Kona found herself warming up to her, even though she generally tried to manipulate other dogs. She shrugged it off, Maybe it's because you're a female too... she thought to herself.
