Plant watch - Day Four.Today the orchid sprout looks good. The pot is warm and the soil is moist - for a good reason this time, and the sprout seems to be recovering. Although, Bri said if I'm using the heat lamp, it'd most likely imitate an artificial sun and I wouldn't have to keep it outside. She also said that I would have to turn it off during the day when it wasn't needed because our electricity bills would be too high. I couldn't convince her that the heat lamp was necessary for the sprout, but then again I guess the sprout would like natural light and letting the lamp cool off so it didn't project really, really, hot light onto the pot would be a good idea.
With the way that things are turning out I may be able to make my stop to the shop very soon. I haven't been able to stop myself from thinking about going to see the glade, I hope that Ray hasn't given up on me comming to see him at the shop.
Notes on the plants:
Soil is moist, pot is warm, sprout is looking healthier.

Plant watch - Day Five.I'm come to conclude that having the heat lamp is the best course of action until the weather is warm enough at night that there is no more frost on the ground in the mornings. But, during the ten in the morning to eight at night time range, it doesn't need the heat from the lamp. The sun is enough.
Therefore, this is going to be my last official 'Plant watch' entry, and I had fun making them and taking care of the plant like it was my job, so I'll probably make a couple more plant watch entries in the future. But, for now.. no more.
Tomorrow will be my day for cleaning my room and doing some of the things I couldn't do during my week of plant watch. Like, maybe Bri will let me play with Izzy, or maybe I'll read a book a about cooking. Bri said she'd teach me how to cook when ever my hands were clean enough to actually handle food. It's sad, I know, but I've spent the last week with dirt under my nails and clothes that I keep getting soil on. I'm ready for a change. I'd like to go to the shop tomorrow afternoon if I can get out of the house. It's nice, but I really need to get out.
Although, I can't really complain. I loved every minute of it.
Notes on the plants:
Plant condition is stable, I'm going to return to my normal routines. Thank you for a good week, and I'm happy my plants will be healthy from now on. Hopefully with as little problems as possible.

Letting go of Bri's hand, Kerryn ran up the front walk to Emme's house, looking for the mailbox. When one wasn't spotted, she shrugged her shoulders and bent down to prop the letter she had written earlier against the double doors. The letter. Dear Ray; You said you'd show me the glade sometime, and I was wondering if you had the time today? I figured out what was wrong with my plants, although it was rather silly, and I'm done with my plant watch. So, I'm free. I'll be at the shop later today, probably in the afternoon sometime. See you then? Kerryn. Walking back to Bri, Kerryn took her hand and walked off, looking back at the door for a moment before focusing on their errands.

Kerryn looked around the empty shop. It hadn't taken much to get Bri to let her stay alone, since Bri had to go shopping anyways and Kerryn had a key to the apartment. Walking through the shop, she headed towards the door to the back garden, opening and closing it quietly as she stepped through. Her attire was much more strange than usual, wearing a pale yellow mid-length dress, the fabric itself sporting no print or lace. Atleast it was simple, she reminded herself, shaking her head at the memory of Bri's insistance on them going shopping for a good spring dress, and that she actually WEAR it. Heading out into the garden, she sat down in the grass, and sighed, wondering what to do until Ray showed up.
Ray was running late. He'd gotten Kerryn's letter late, got dressed late, quickly pulling on a green sweater and jeans... and then arrived at the shop late. And he wasn't happy about any of it. He much prefered to reliable and punctual. He'd been looking forward to showing the glad to the younger girl.
The shop was quiet, though the front door was open. Someone must be around, he thought as he threw down his bag and jacket in the storage room and headed out to the garden. He hoped Kerryn hadn't arrived already, or at least hadn't been waiting long.
Sitting among the flowers and grasses was a dark haired girl in a yellow dress. "I hope you weren't waiting long..." he said, approaching her. "Mom had me running errands, I nearly missed yoru letter," he told her.
Looking up, Kerryn tilted her head back slightly, smiling brightly when she saw who it was even though she could have placed it from his voice. "Not long. I got here just a little while before you did." She chuckled softly, "Then may I suggest a mailbox? Although, I think you might have missed it altogether if it was in one."
Shifting her legs to the side so she could brace her hands against the ground and push herself up she took careful notice of her dress and how much she could manouver in it. Brushing a wrinkle out of it when she was upright. "How've you been?" She asked politely although she itched to ask him to show her the glade. Wanting to see it right then, having been impatient throughout the past week, it suddenly seemed all the more overwhelming. Her eagerness colouring her voice.
Ray laughed at the little girl's honesty. "Well, there is a slot by the door, though it might be hard to see behind the trees. The mail man knows where it is." He winked.
"I've been busy," He said in reply to her question, looking over the over grown garden fondly. "We're probably going to be visiting my mom's home in a few weeks... Getting everything squared away for the trip has kept us busy." He wasn't happy about the plans, as much as he wanted to visit Dragons Breath. There was somethign strong holding him here. After a few moments, he turned back to the girl. "How've you been? Are your plants doing well?"
He could see her anticipation, and assumed that she was as eager about the glade as he was. It'd been a while since he'd seen it himself, helping his mother had taken priority lately, as much as he wanted to escape to the shop and the Glade that was hidden just past the walls of the garden.
"Last time I checked, I'm wasn't the mail man." Kerryn teased him, before starting to blush profusely when the topic of her plants came up. "They're doing alright, no thanks to me." She said with a sigh, lowering her forhead to an upraised hand. "I was over watering them so the coldness of the night was turning it into ice crystals. Not good for the plant. But, they're much better now." It probably seemed like babble, but she shrugged.
Shifting from foot to foot she finally broke down, "Can you show me the glade now?" Came her cheerful question, a grin tugging at the corner of her lips. "We can talk as we go, you know." She offered, wanting to see the glade as he described it to her in his story.
"hmmm... I know what you mean... I kept over feeding my fish, and well, it didn't turn out well... they got rather fat." He teased, then returned to the more serious matter of the plants. "Plants are tricky like that, though. Mom and I have a green thumb, but Raven, he's only alloud to tend to the succulents. They're nearly impossilbe to kill."
"Of course!" He responded to her question about the glade. "I didn't mean to keep you waiting, " He gestured formally towards the back to the garden. "This way, madamn."
Kerryn wrinkled her nose at the 'Madamn' but let it off, since he was taking her to the glade afterall, deciding to play along for a bit. "Thank you, and after you, kind sir." She said sweetly, following close by his side, a step behind him and to his left.
"Most things do tend to get fat if you over feed them. Take Izzy for example, he's my pet Iguana. Bri feeds him.. almost constantly. He's huge." She was acutely aware of the height difference between them, standing close to him forced her to cant her head back to an uncomfortable angle to look at his head. Although being behind him it really didn't matter.
Ray guided them to the back of the garden, forcing his way through the over grown bushes and tangle of weeds, holding back the more stubborn ones for the smaller girl to get through. "Careful, it's a mess back here." He laughed again when Kerryn mentioned her Iguana. "I've never seen an Iguana... do they make good pets?"
His thoughts were else where, though. The door was proving hard to find again. He thought for sure he'd walk straight back to the back wall and find it again.... but now, he couldnt' seem to find it. "I know that door's in here some where..." He muttered under his breath, feeling around the garden wall, pushing back more stubborn bushes. Eventually he found the cool metal edge fo te door frame, and the still slightly ajar door. Good, he thought, hopefully it'll come open more easily this time.
"Here we are," he told her, pulling the door open wide enough for her to duck through. "Be careful with your dress, it's muddy in the passage, but it's worth it."
"He likes nuzzling feet when he hides underneath my bed, so he makes for wonderful suprises." She offered, "Other than that, he is really lazy. Pretty, but really lazy."
She made her way past the bushes and tangled brush that he held out of her way, slowing down once or twice to tug the hem of her dress loose from the clutches of a twig or snare. "Dresses really are bothersome." Kerryn muttered, standing back as he groped along the wall to find the door so as she wouldn't get in the way. When it was opened for her, she nodded at his advice, "I'll try to be, but it really was foolish for me to have worn it anyways, since I didn't know how we'd be getting to the glade." She held up the hem of her dress, slipping into the passage, suddenly hit by the darkness. Taking a step or two in, she waited for him to come in after her.
"Just becareful not to get dirty. I don't want yoru mother mad at me." he said as she slipped in, and followed after the daring younger girl. The passage was even darker than he remembered. Her felt around finding Kerryn's small shoulder. "Hold on just a sec." he said, patting her shoulder just to reassure her in the darknes, though he doubt she needed it. She seems almost fearless. He dug around in his pocket, finding a small stone. He brought out the stone, leaning down to hold it out to her. The stone came to life, glowing a bright blueish hue that ate away at the darkness surrounding them.
"You can lead if you like," He said, offering the stone to her. "My uncle gave this stone to me. It's called a Radient Orb." He explained.
Blinking up at him when he patted her shoulder she nodded, "I doubt she'd get too mad.. but on the other hand she was the one who made me wear this." A shrug rolled her shoulders.
Her eyes widened as the stone produced the blue hued light, casting them into a cyan twilight. "I can lead?" She almost squeaked, but.. but.. he was BIGGER than her! Shouldn't he lead? None of this was voiced though, as she accepted the stone, wondering what it'd feel like against her flesh. "Alright... A Radient Orb, huh?.." The words rolled off her tongue as she took a step forward into the darkness ahead of them, the blue of the stone casting the darkness away. Confidence in herself growing second by second she took a braver step forward, looking over her shoulder at him. Holding the stone in one hand, palm forward ahead of her to let the light shine, hem being held up with her other, revealing her heavy leather boots she couldn't quite get herself to change even wearing the dress.
"Don't worry, there's nothing but darkness. It's just a narrow passage." he said, reassuring her. "Besides, it's easier than switiching places." Most the cobwebs had been knocked loose the last time he'd gone through, and the path was smooth, though a bit damp. "The door at the other end opens really easily, so don't pull to hard when we get there. I ended up in the mud last time by yanking on it."
The passage was rather short this time, perhaps no more then ten feet. It'd seemed much longer the first time. Anticipation, I guess... He thought, slightly disappointed that their adventure in the dark ended so soon.
"Alright." Taking a deep breath to calm down the nerves that he obviously noticed. "And, that's true enough." Her eyes flittered over the walls of the tunnel and to the floor to make sure there wasn't anything that would trip her or catch on her.
"Yeah, Although, with you behind me, we'd probably both end up in the mud." She smirked, "But, I'll have to give you the stone back when we get there so both of my hands aren't full." Taking steps to get to the end of the tunnel, when they did arrive she turned slightly to offer the stone out to him so he could take it and she could open the door.
Ray took the stone, pocketing it once more, and helped the girl with the door. It swung open smoothly, revealing the bright afternoon light, and the path leading down to the dense forest below. The slope was milde, and they decended slowly into the thick folliage. Though nature had taken back much of the path, where it twisted through the forest was easy enough to follow.
Many of the trees were different than those he'd grown to know living in Dragons Breath, but they were also much the same. This forest was made up of both pines and deciduous trees, only a scant few of which he could name. There were hearty bushes and an array of early spring flowers. It had rained quite a bit this winter, and the winter grasses were high all around them.
The wind had picked up, pulling at their hair and clothes.... and Ray had the odd sensation of being followed. He glanced back, and found nothing... but the hairs on the back of his neck were staning on end. He strained his long elvin ears to listen... but as before... there was nothing but the songs of birds.
Standing in the wind with her hair rubbing across her cheeks and forhead, dress swirling around her body, she couldn't help but shiver, goosebumps rising on her bare arms and shoulders.
Something struck her, a sharp pang of longing for something unknown, when she stared at the path leading into the forest. She crossed her arms around her middled and tilted her head to the side as she looked down the slope, following the grassy earth as she made her way with Ray to the forest edge and beyond.
Looking at Ray, she smiled, a different smile from the ones that often before graced her lips. A smile one would give to someone they had known forever. Nice of him to come and see me. She thought to herself, stilling for a moment as the thought crossed her mind. Where had it come from?
"You cold?" Ray asked, noticing the girl shiver. "I left my jacket at the shop... but I could give you my sweater." He glanced around warrily as he spoke, catching movement out of the corner of his eye, but every time he turne his head, it was only a leaf or branch caught in the wind. He took a deep breath, hoping he wasn't letting on to Kerryn just how nervous he'd become.
It was strange, he'd never felt even the slightest bit of fear the first time... though he wasn't exactly afraid now. It was more of a feeling of intense anticipation. He put his hand on the girl's shoulder... hoping she wouldn't mind, but he needed to feel the connection to another human being. They were nearly to the glade, and he knew he'd feel calmer once they'd reached it.
I shouldn't have brought her here... I didn't even bring my dagger... I need to learn to think... I did this last time.. rushing forward, and dragging others into situations taht aren't safe. Who knows who or what lives here... Why'd I never think of that before? Clearly someone made the path... Someone made the carvings in the stones...
The forest opened up into the glade before them, and once again, the journey seemed much shorter than before, and they reached their destination sooner than he'd anticipated.
Kerryn nodded when he asked if she was cold, pursing her lips for a moment when he offered her his sweater. "If you give it to me, you'll get cold." She watched him as he looked around, the offending leaves and branches taking his attention. "They won't eat you, you know." She teased him lightly, obviously having no idea why he kept looking around.
When his hand moved to rest on her shoulder, she moved a tiny bit closer, the drape of his arm over her shoulders provided her with a small bit of warmth. And, it seemed enough to drive the chills running along her skin away.
Silence grabbed her as they walked, eyes taking in the wonders of the forest; the plants, the flowers, and the ferns and mosses. Trying to name the species that she knew, suprising herself when names of plants she had never seen or heard of came to mind. When the pathway suddenly became less grown over and the trees grew thinner, she knew they were almost there, moving a little faster in her eagerness to finally be able to see the glade. She felt a little stranger, as they moved out of the forest, like she shouldn't have left.
Ray pulled of his sweater, revealing his favorite green sleeveless shirt beneith. Unconcerned with the cold or wind, and draped it over teh girl's shoulders. The Glade was as he'd remembered, the statue of the angel at the far end still watching over the stone carvings arranged through out. He walked out to the center as he'd done the first time, looking around at the stones. He still had the lingering feeling of something or someone watching them.
There was a flicker of movement by the statue, and a feeling of familiarity over came him. The Ghost... he thought, mesmerized, and walked to the south end of the glade, where the angel looked over them. A shape materialized. Drawn, he reached towards it. He felt a warmth in his hands, then... suddenly, it was gone. He blinked up at the stone statue, the sun setting behind it's form. The Glade seemed to grow darker. He looked at his hands. They were some how darker, with tendrils of green weaving towards his fore arms. He spun around, looking for Kerryn, wondering what she'd seen, what she'd thought...
He found her quickly enough, her yellow dress standing out in the ocean of green. "We should get back..." He told her, unsure of what had happened, or why...
Kerryn looked up at him when he deposited the green sweater over her shoulders and walked to the middle of the glade. Taking a moment she slid it from her shoulders and pulled it on, she wasn't going to be stubborn about it, not when she was cold and he had already offered it once.
Drowning in the clothing ment for Ray, she giggled at herself - only able to imagine how it looked, the sleeves were much too long, and despite the length the skirt of her yellow dress was visable under the hem of the shirt. She followed him for a ways as he approached near the statue, stopped though by something of interest among a small patch of plants. The sudden darkening of the glade caught her attention, "Ray..?" She called quietly, looking around at the area of the grassy glade. As he turned and moved over to her, she nodded at his words.
"What happened?"
Unease made her draw her right hand from the sleeve of his warm sweater and seek one of his with it. Trying to draw some comfort from familiar physical contact since Bri always seemed to be holding her hand for some reason.
He shook his head. "I don't know... did you see anything?" He paused, glancing back at the statue again, wondering just how much he should tell the younger girl. He'd been so excited about showing her the glade,he didn't want to frighten her now. "There was a ghost... at the shop, when I was little. I think... I think she's here too."
He held out his hands looking down at the strange new markings. What could they mean? Was she trying to tell him something? He shook his head. Either way, he'd felt no malice in her, and nothing bad had ever happened... either at the shop or here at the glade. What ever had happened, he felt confident it wasn't a bad thing.
When Kerryn found his hand, he flinched away involuntarily. He looked down at her, practically swallowed up in his sweater, and he couldn't help but smile. He took her hand, feeling much more at ease suddenly. She had that effect on him... like an old friend. "We'll have to come again earlier in the day, it's getting dark now."
Kerryn shook her head, "No. I didn't see anything. -" Ray's words about the ghost cut her off, eyeing his hand and the strange markings that adorned it. "She isn't going to hurt you.. or any of the others right? She didn't hurt you?" She asked, wondering why she felt that he had to know the answers to the questions she asked.
When he flinched away from her hand she couldn't help the distressed look that stole over her face, although it was washed away when he smiled at her and took her hand. "It was only me." She informed him, in case he thought it was the ghost that was trying to hold his hand the first time, letting the sleeve hide her hand and tickle against his.
"Alright, Bri probably is done her shopping by now anyways. Come on." She told him softly, taking a step back towards the forest and tugging on his hand gently.
"No, I don't think she'll hurt us.... " He let the girl lead them up the path, glancing back at the glade one last time, the sunset creating a halo around the angel statue."I think she wants to help us..." he said softly.
He nodded when she mentioned her mother. "We'd better get back before she gets there..." he said, suddenly realizing just how easily he could have gotten them both in trouble. "Want a piggy back ride? I think I can get us both up the hill pretty quick, so we can beat your mom back to the shop."
Kerryn nodded softly, listening to him talk, blinking as he asked her if she wanted a piggy back ride. Confused for a moment she didn't answer until it clicked what he was talking about.
"Oh! You mean that thing where someone carries the other on their back? OK!" She let go of his hand a little reluctantly, adjusting his sweater.
Ray laughed, thinking every child had been treated to a piggy back ride. He knelt and let her climb on. Once she was settled, he stood, her weight nothing more than that of a well packed back pack. He galloped up the hill, immitating a horse, as his uncle Torrin had done with him so many times before.
Yet again, a strange sensation of familiarity washed over him... but this time, it was tinted with a hint of sadness. Had he done this before? He knew he'd never given a child a piggy back ride... strange that it would feel so familiar.
They reached the passage just as the sun was setting just below the horizon, the sky painted in pinks, purples and oranges. He knelt again to let the girl slide off, and paused where he knelt, looking out over the gorgeous display before them.
"You had fun right?" he asked Kerryn before moving towards the door. "I'm sorry we had to leave so soon."
Kerryn couldn't help the giggle that arose as he imitated a horse galloping, clinging tightly to him as he moved up the slope of the hill towards the forest, and through it to the passage back to the garden. When he kneeled down to let her off, she let go of him, removing her arms from around his neck and letting herself slide down his back until her feet touched the ground.
She stood there quietly as they watched the sunset, eyes shining as she watched the painted sky.
"Yes, I had fun. Thank you for taking me." She responded sincerely, "And, it's no problem. It just means that you have to bring me back sometime." A grin spread across her lips as she revealed this fact to him.
"Of course, Madam." He teased, and plucked a random flower from garden handing it to her. "Now lets go inside so I can have my sweater back." He winked and lead her over the bridge to the shop's storage room door.
He couldn't have imagined a better way to spend the afternoon. More than ever, he hoped he could find a way to avoid the trip to Dragons Breath... He wanted to stay here, at the shop. He wanted to visit with Kerryn and find the ghost again. He wanted to meet the other Simulacra.
Kerryn smiled, taking the flower with the utmost gentleness and tucking into her hair behind her ear. "Oh shush, you. You were the one to forked it over." She followed behind him with a grin, pulling her arms out of the sleeves of his sweater and pulling it over her head while trying not to dislodge the flower. "Catch!" She laughed, throwing the sweater at him as she ran past him and to the door to the shop, opening it and moving inside.
"OH THANK GOD!" Bri gushed when her daughter came into the shop, white faced and looking frantic. Closing her eyes and pinching the bridge of her nose with her thumb and index finger. "You scared the bejeebus out of me, Kerryn."
"Sorry, Bri." Kerryn muttered, looking out the open door behind her to Ray, "I'm alright, really though. Ray would have protected me from anything." She nodded, "He even gave me his sweater when I got cold." It came out in a rush as she tried to make sure that neither of them would get in much trouble.
Looking out the door, Bri frowned but nodded. "Alright, Kerryn, but we have to go now." Reaching out to take Kerryn's hand as she started for the door.
"Yes, Bri." Looking at Ray she smiled sheepishly, "Bye, I guess then. See you soon.." Watching Ray as Bri pulled her to the door and out, not wanting to leave her newfound friend.
Ray caught the tossed sweater, draping it over one arm. "Sorry, Miss Bri." Ray said as Kerryn's mother rushed towards them. "We lost track of time in the garden. We didn't mean to worry you."
Ray waved as Kerryn was hauled off by her worried mother. Once the door was shut, he sighed in relief, wondering if he'd be hearing from Emme when he got home. Surely Bri would call her if she'd been overly worried. He hoped not.
He pulled up one of the over stuffed chairs that sat behind she shop's counter and flopped down. It had been a rather strange afternoon. He thoroughly enjoyed Kerryn's company. Spending time with her seemed to make up for the fact that he'd yet to meet many more of the simulacra. He leaned back in the chair and looked at his strangely darkened hands, and noticed that the veins of green almost seemed to shimmer. He flexed his fingers, nothing felt different... as far as he could tell.
He got up and slowly went about locking up the shop for the night. It wasn't too dark out yet... maybe a few of teh shops would still be open. He grabbed his sweater and jacked and headed out the door.

Dear Journal, I went to the shop to meet Ray this afternoon, but he wasn't there right away. So, I went out to the back yard to wait, it didn't take him long to show up though. When he showed up we were pleasant but I really wanted him to just show me to the glade! Finally, I got impatient and he took helped me along the way to the glade. I'm afraid of the dark. I haven't told anyone before, and Bri you better not be reading this, and I didn't tell Ray - but I think he knew. Bri made me wear a dress so it was really hard to move around and get to the glade going through the tunnel and the underbrush, but Ray helped a lot. When we got there, Ray went off - I was going to follow him, but a wonderfully carved stone caught my attention. I didn't have much time to examine it, because suddenly we noticed that it was starting to get dark and Ray hand's were suddenly changed. He said it was a ghost. I'm worried about that too; but, somehow not as much as I am the dark. On the way back we held hands for a bit and he gave me a piggy back. It was nice, calmed us down I think - to be holding hands with each other - although he did pull away from me when I went to take his hand. I'll have to ask him why, I think it has to do with the change though. Probably. When we got back, Bri basically dragged me away and she's been nagging about Ray. She thinks he wasn't a good influence to have taken me out of sight of the shop, if only she knew. ~Kerryn PS. OH! I didn't write about the forest, to get to the glade we had to go through a forest, and for some reason I felt very good about it. I didn't want to leave, and I knew more names of plants and flowers than I think I should have. I think I'll go back to the glade again, maybe alone, maybe I'll take someone with me. I don't know.

Dear Journal, I know I -NEVER- write in the mornings but Bri said that today I'm 'grounded.' I don't know quite what that means, although from the way she's acting and from what I've learned that I'm now not allowed to do - I'd say it is a very evil form of punishment. It really doesn't matter that much if I was out of sight when she came to get me from the shop does it? She said that punishing me was to 'Instill proper values' in me. Proper values? I have proper values. I value having gone to see the glade, I value the knowledge of my plants. I value being able to spend time with Ray because he seems to share the same love of nature as I do. I don't care about being a teensy-weensy bit late, or that she arrived early. Because it had to be the latter - I'll forgive her. It's unfair! Apparently, I have to stay in the apartment all day today, and I'm not even allowed to go out onto the balcony to water my plants. Bri said that she'd do it for the day. Playing with Izzy is also out, as is watching television or using the phone. How cruel can she get? It's not fair. Not fair. Not fair. Not fair. ~Kerryn

Scuffing her feet as she followed her daughter, Bri rubbed her eyes. She hated mornings, and this was the worst - It was the morning of a Flea market and farmer's market in Durem square. As a compromise, and a half hearted attempt to try and stop Kerryn from dragging her out, she made Kerryn promise to allow her to buy her two new dresses and to actually wear them. To her surprise - Kerryn readily agreed.
Looking over her shoulder, up at the tired woman behind her, Kerryn shook her head. "Hurry up Bri.." She said, a little snappishly, impatient at the sluggish pace they had adopted when she knew Durem square wasn't that far from where they stood.
"We shouldn't be awake, let alone out and about at this ungodly hour, Ryn. Don't push." Bri half-growled as she was nettled by the sharp edge on her daughter's voice. "We'll be there soon enough."
Kerryn opened her mouth to say something, but shut it again, she had to keep Bri in a relatively good mood if she wanted to actually be able to buy things and not just look. Although, with Bri's new job and her old job starting back up in a couple weeks it shouldn't be hard to get her to buy some trifles.
As they came apon the empty square, the merchants were still setting up their stalls, Bri shook her head as she watched Kerryn take off towards the middle of the open area. Looking around, Kerryn tried to figure out where she wanted to look first, a stall sporting multicoloured faces of silk, brocade, linen and lace caught her eyes. It was an easy decision to start there.
As she approached, wide saucer-like eyes took in the fans that were propped up by metal holders and velvet backdrops. One caught her eyes, a gradient red to black fan with black lace decorating the edges.

Immediately she thought of, "Yeste'" She nodded to herself, looking over the other fans for one for herself. A minty green fan with cherry wood and gold accents caught her attention.

"How much are your fans, miss?" She piped, looking at them both. Waving Bri over, she haggled a bit with the merchant, who seemed genuinely pleased at the chance to barter - but, Bri, on the other had looked positively disturbed at the exchange. Although, in the end she paid for the two fans Kerryn wanted.
"Kerryn!" Bri whispered to her, atonishment clear in her voice.
"Mother. Bri. Understand, they want you to haggle." She shook her head as she passed by some stalls, pausing temporarily to look over the wares as she made her way around the merchant's circle.
She stopped when Bri did, her mother having been caught by a jewelry stall, and on further inspection she grinned, spotting a golden anklet/bracelet with attachable charms. Picking out a flower charm and a four leaf clover of the like she cast a grin at Bri and held it up for her inspection. "Your turn." She said deviously.

"Oh.. you.." Bri sputtered, as she engaged the crafter in banter about the price, having to rely on Kerryn every once and a while for pointers.
Laughing, Bri sealed the deal, passing some money to the merchant. Taking her daughter's hand they continued to circle the stalls, until they found themselves back where they started.
"Time for the dresses now?" Bri prompted, her turn to be mischievious.
"Do we haaaave to!?" Kerryn whined, only to be dragged off by Bri as she headed to Moira's, with stops from there to Vanessa's to get her hair trimmed. Not fair, but might as well kill to birds with one stone.
"Fine.." Kerryn grumbled, "But, we're delivering the gifts as soon as I wrap them and have my shower when we get home." The dark cloud lifted, but a certain look of dismay crossed and held the girl's features as she was confronted with the door to Moira's shop.
A deep breath was drawn as Bri tugged her inside.

Dear Journal, Bri and I spent the day moving around Durem, looking at the Farmer's market in the square, and then going to Moira's to look for some dresses for me. You see, journal, Bri made me accept the fact that I had to let her buy me more dresses and actually wear them, in order for her to actually agree to come out into town with me as early as it was this morning. They actually weren't horrible, she got me a simple green summer dress, although it has ruffles along the sleeves and at the bottom. Also, she got me a white one with sunflowers on it, and a dark brown dress with beading along the top. Pink beads none-the-less. Anyways, I have to go get a drink of water and then write the letters to Yeste' and Ray so I can deliver their presents with letters. Good night, Journal. ~Kerryn

The days seemed to be all the same, windy and slightly chilly. Sometimes it was sunny, other days it was overcast. All Itsuki knew was that heading outside had become annoying with his hair constantly in his face, but it was a sacrifice he was willing to make if it meant learning something. He headed to the antique shop for the second time this week, maybe it was out of hope of seeing someone again, he wasn't sure why. The place had began to draw him lately. There was exploring to be done and information to be found... as well as people. Not always the best thing, but it had turned out fairly well recently. The boy had reached the shop and walked through the door, fixing his hair once he stepped inside. It seemed a little familiar to him, but it was to be expected when the days started to all feel the same.
Kerryn heard the door to the shop open and shut, although no one called out so she suspected it wasn't a customer. Standing up from her position on the other side of the staff counter, which she had propped herself up against while she daydreamed of the glade, she turned to look at the person that came in. She stood on tiptoes, managing to fold her arms on the counter surface as she looked at the boy who became visible to her. "Who're you?" She spoke clearly, faint recoginition registering as she remembered the day that she had met Kami and Sarria, and she had left as he came in.
Well, this was different.
Itsuki blinked at the girl before taking a couple steps forward. This was a face that seemed somehow familiar to him but his mind had been so jumbled lately, he didn't question not remembering anything about her. Figuring his best shot would be to remember as he went along, he answered her question simply. "My name's Itsuki. ...You?"
"Kerryn." She said in a clipped tone, trying to remind herself that not all boys are stupid, infact Ronin and Ray were quite intelligent, and amiable. Pushing herself away from the counter, she padded around it to make her way closer to the boy. "I take it you're a Simu?" She inquired, figuring that if he said no she could make an excuse about make believe, and if he said yes then she was fine off. Kerryn seemed to inspect him as she moved over to him, taking in all the little details. "Yes, you have to be." She answered herself, "Or else you wouldn't be here alone."
His eyes followed her carefully and became aware of her examination. Itsuki stepped back out of instinct, not enjoying others drawing too much attention to himself, mostly out of fear of being readable. So he simply slipped his hands in his pockets and watched her with stoic eyes. Once she answered her own question, the boy shrugged.
"Simu, huh? Is that what they call us?" First 'Companion' and now 'Simu'... coming here was really starting to pay off after all. He had a renewed interest in the girl moreso than to solve his strange feeling of a previous encounter, but rather as another source of information.
"That is what I was told by another, Ronin.. That was his name." Kerryn remarked. Keeping her spine, and thus her posture, straight for some reason she didn't feel as comfortable with Itsuki as she did with Ray. "Might as well go upstairs and have a sit down, if all we're going to do is stand and talk." Turning on booted heel, she made her way towards the stairs leading up to the second floor, looking over her shoulder to raise an eyebrow slightly as she waited for him to follow her. Disappearing up the stairs when, or if, he started her way.
There was that name again... Itsuki felt slighted that apparently everyone had met this other boy, except for himself. Especially now that he seemed to have information as well. Where were people getting this from? He didn't have much time to think before he noticed the girl speak something of 'upstairs' and then... walked away. He raised an eyebrow as well at her disappearance, deciding to follow her. This Kerryn girl seemed to have an interesting personality and found himself curious to figure it out further. She seemed like one of those strong willed individuals...
Heading into the backroom, he found the staircase to his left and began to head up when he noticed the girl not far ahead. "What's so great about the upstairs?"
"It has a couch, and I like this couch because it has soft cushions." Her boots thumped against the wooden stairs as she made her way up them, not looking back at Itsuki until she was on the second level, and had crossed over to the couch. Doing a half spin, she half-threw half-flopped herself down onto the corner cushion. "What kind of antique did you come from? A teapot - like Roning perchance? A dagger - like Yeste'? A mirror? A key?" The question was borne of her own curiousity, although she wondered if there were more than one Simu from the same type of antique, there had to be. Didn't there?
There wasn't many stairs and so Itsuki reached the second floor with little difficulty. Upon entering the floor, he took in his surroundings first before watching the girl plop onto the couch. Unlike his encounter with Kyoko, he was pretty sure of the atmosphere and expectations Kerryn had just from her own actions. He made his way over to the couch and sat down as well, a good distance between them of course.
"Antique? Well, I came from a mirror." He shrugged, but quickly caught Yeste's name. The boy looked her over again and tried to remember if she was mentioned to him once. He decided to question her about Yeste' later. "You didn't come from a mirror too, then?"
"Mm.. A mirror like Ray, you can't be that bad then." Kerryn mused, taking in his question before shaking her head. "No, I was the one who made her appearance from a key.. This key to be exact." She informed him as she held up the chain around her neck, dangling the golden, jeweled key in the air. As Kerryn adjusted on the cushion, she unbuckled her belt and loosened it slightly to give her more ease of movement while sitting down. "So, who have you met, so far?" She questioned, figuring that playing that annoying game of twenty questions might be the best way to get information from him.
Just days before he had gone this route and Itsuki knew he had to find a way to get around giving up everything about himself to those he met. After making himself comfortable by leaning back against the cushions, he looked over to her and gave her a small smirk, "Apparently, someone you've met." He pondered on leaving it just that, if only to see her reaction, but figured that a few moments of stalling silence was sufficient enough. "You mentioned Yeste'. ...How do you know her?" Not that.. it mattered, right? He was just curious. ...Right.
Kerryn gave him a look, a look she had seem Bri issue more than enough to have perfected it herself. She tilted her chin up ever so slightly and looked through her eyelashes down her nose at him, impatient with the way he drew out the things he was to say. "I met her." She responded flippantly, a mirroring smirk tugging at her lips as she played his game. "From your questions, I take it you do too. How do you know her?" She questioned, turning his question back to him.
Damn, he hadn't been expecting her to respond in that manner. Itsuki mentally gave the girl credit for being more aware than she let on, but wasn't about to give up just yet.
He shrugged, as if it wasn't much of a deal. "You see, we met in the shop." He spoke as if beginning a story, but just to irritate her, he didn't elaborate further. The boy retained a firm glance at her, dropping the smirk so not to appear cocky.
"Mm. You realize, that if we continue to clip our meanings down to a couple words and simple phrases we'll never really learn anything." The girl obviously was a mite more intelligent than her years precluded to. "I met Yeste' in the shop, she showed me the dagger she came from, and she is going to teach me how to smith and fight." She rolled her shoulders in a shrug. It wasn't really that important to be kept a secret.
He took a couple moments to look her over quickly and wondered why he hadn't met many others like her. Itsuki figured it was his own benefit that there weren't as many who would handle him like she did. It was the release of information, though, that allowed him to give into dropping the game.
"Really... You must have hit it off with her very well." He wasn't sure why, but the thought made him tense up and fold his arms across his chest. "She does have a lot of weapons. ...In fact, she gave me a dagger on Valentine's Day." It was more than he would have liked to share, but it did beat telling her that he learned how to dance from Yeste'.
Kerryn wrinkled her nose at that last piece of information, "Valentines day?" Her tone implied that he might as well have suggested that there was a day where people celebrated the moon crashing into the sun. "What's that? Bri said something about it, but she never told me what it was." Letting her mind wander she nodded absently at the mention of Yeste's weapons, "Yes, she said that we may get a staff for me, I don't want to use blades, Bri wouldn't let me anyways.."
The notion of using a staff as a weapon made him give her a look. He didn't see the purpose of fighting with something that wasn't sharp, but if that was her perogative...
"Valentine's day..." he frowned, it hadn't been his favorite holiday but continued nonetheless, "Its a holiday where girls give guys gifts and chocolates or something like that." After a moment of consideration, he added, "Usually 'cause they like them."
Kerryn's look told him a lot about exactly how full if it she thought he was when he informed her of the meaning of Valentines day. "And, Yeste' gave -you- something?" She realized how judgemental it sounded after it came from her mouth, she didn't mean to sound that way. Nothing against him.. Yeste' just didn't seem the sort to give guys gifts. Or, not from what she knew of the other girl anyways. Plus, she was a little testy and it was affecting her relations. "And guys don't give girls gifts?"
Itsuki took it as a different meaning altogether, something that poked at him after he said the last part, as well as received the gift to begin with, and found himself looking somewhat flustered. He tried to gain his composure, but it was hard when he was blushing like that. His best defense was avoiding eye contact, but it wasn't the best tactic, really.
"Y-yeah, well..." The second comment gave him a chance to escape, but instead of conjuring up an elaborate attempt to bail himself out with this new wormhole, he just responded. "I guess they could.."
Bobbing her head softly in a nod, Kerryn let him off the hook, although the laspe into silence could have been taken as an out of the pan into the fire type situation. Looking down at her key she passed it between her fingers, watching her reflection become distorted in the materials.
Itsuki was usually one who welcomed silences, but in situations like this... it was the breeding ground for thoughts and questions which would plague his mind for hours if allowed to go unchecked. So naturally, he began to get uneasy when no other alternative was given. It was only a matter of time before...
"...It wasn't a big deal though. It's only a dagger, right? Not like its chocolate or... flowers or something. Right?" He started to ramble, barely aware he was doing so. Of course, the more he rambled, the less secure he felt and soon he thought of jumping out the window across the room. This hadn't exactly been the subject he had wanted to bring up, let alone to someone he just met. He was sure she wasn't interested to begin with and hoped she would... kick him, or at the very least change the subject. Just his luck would be if she found it interesting to prod him forward...
"It's only a big deal if you make it one. Like you're doing right now." She informed him before not so subtly changing the subject. "You know, it's the perfect weather for growing orchids. Not too hot, not too cold.. enough hours of the sun." Kerryn nodded at her own words, "I'm going a pot of orchids on my apartment balcony. Although, they're a little hard for me to deal with. I almost killed them when we had that cold chill lingering in the night." She looked out the window for a moment, looking at the mild weather outside. "I'm hoping it doesn't do it again tonight, it doesn't looking like it will.. but you never know."
He welcomed the change of subject and used the time to save face and regain his composure. Though, it didn't help much when it was something he didn't know too much about to begin with. "...You could give them a blanket, just in case." He shrugged and tried to think of what an orchid was. It must have been a plant of some kind. Itsuki thought about the weather though, and hoped personally that it wouldn't get cold either. "Hopefully it will get warmer. ...and less breezy."
"I convined Bri, my mother, that it needs a heat lamp.. So when I think it's going to be cold at night, I plug in the heat lamp to keep it warm and make sure frost doesn't build in the soil." Weighing something in her mind her eyes flickered back to him, "So, what do you do for fun? Since, well, you seem to have almost no interest in flowers. Or.. maybe interest isn't the word I'm looking for." She shrugged, the slightest roll of her shoulders.
Itsuki wasn't sure you could have fun with flowers to begin with, but understood what she meant. "Um. I like to sit on rooftops." His gold eyes moved around the room as he tried to find the right words to describe his interests. "Knives interest me and I'm currently trying to become a stronger person."
After explaining his interests, he watched the girl carefully for her responses and decided to follow up, "I take it you like plants?"
"Yes, I like plants." Kerryn thought about it for a moment, "I've never sat on a roof before, I've never even -been- on a roof before.. What's it like?" She asked, brushing her hair from her face delicately. Her eyes watched him almost cautiously, un able to settle herself down.
"Its a different than sitting on the ground... there, you're looking up at everything and it makes you feel kind of hopeless." His eyes moved around as if he was imagining the scene before him. "But when you're up there, especially on the high buildings... it makes you feel so powerful, above everyone, but not too high. Your fate is in your own hands and you're free... that's how it feels to me." Itsuki's eyes left the ceiling and turned downcast sheepishly, "I suppose its the feeling of being separate but in control of everything... and being alone. Its a safe enviroment to think."
The boy looked to Kerryn, as if to see how she felt about his opinion, hoping she didn't start laughing at him or anything.
Kerryn's lip twitched as she thought of it, but eventually it pulled into a smile. "Yeah, I can imagine how it'd feel like that. Maybe I'll get Bri to take me to the roof my our apartment sometime. It sounds cool." Kerryn looked around the room after she had finished speaking, trying to draw on something to spark conversation because she suddenly found herself with nothing to say or to ask of the boy. Tugging on her necklace softly she looked back at him, and then away again.
Itsuki readjusted his posistion on the couch and when he sensed no further questions, he stood up and walked towards a bookcase in the room. "I'm sure this place is loaded with information."
When he stopped at the fixture, he had to crane his head to be able to see all of the books. His eyes slowly glanced through titles, trying to find something that caught his attention.
Kerryn watched him walk over to the bookcase, her stare was constant this time, seeming to have more courage since he wasn't facing her. "Do you like to read?" She questioned, "Or, learn?" She ammended, since she registered his comment about the shop being 'loaded with information.'
He didn't look away from the shelves as he listened to her questions. As he dragged his fingers across the spines of a few books, he shrugged. "I guess you could say I like to learn. I think I just like knowing... and understanding. It puts you ahead."
Itsuki smirked as he browsed past a book concerning orchids but continued to look.
"Why do you say that?" She tilted her head to the side and made herself comfortable on the couch, wriggling down into a half sitting - half laying down position. She closed her eyes as she listened to the room and the vague sounds of life outside of the shop.
"...Well, having information and understanding... anything, will put you in a better situation. There's nothing worse than an ignorant person."
Itsuki's finger stopped on one particular book and he looked at the spine for a moment before slipping it out. He seemed to examine the cover carefully before opening the bound document.
"Yes, but, isn't it better not to know some things?" She questioned, Bri had always told her that you shouldn't ask questions if you're not a hundred percent sure you wanted the answer, so there -HAD- to be some information out there that wouldn't do you any good to know. "Like, something that will make you unhappy? Or, hurt you?"
Itsuki stopped in his place as he thought over Kerryn's question. After a moment of consideration, he looked over to her. "I could see how knowing things could hurt some people... so I think so people shouldn't know everything."
A moment passed and he looked back down to the book, but only stared at the page, "But, I want to know. I think I can handle it. ...I wouldn't be true to myself if I refused to know something because I'm afraid."
Kerryn opened her eyes slightly, looking over at him as she folded her arms over her stomache, "True enough, but excercising the necessary amount of caution is always helpful.. What book are you reading?" She mused, drifting from topic to topic without rhyme or reason. Pushing herself up from the couch she moved over to the bookshelf he was standing infront of, inspecting the books like he had just before.
When she walked over, he glanced at her briefly before looking back at the book in his hands. "I don't know." Itsuki was about to set the book back, so far finding the handwritten text to be nothing useful until he found a peculiar word. "What was it that you said Ronin called us? Was it Simulacrum?" He continued to look at the text, but retained the same appearance of little interest.
"He called us Simu." She stated evenly, bending over to look at some of the lower shelves, "Why? Does your book say something about us?" Her interest seemed rather faint, although she just didn't want to show how interested she truely was to learn something, anything about herself.
After looking over the word once more he thought on what Kerryn had said. Better off not knowing? ... Hrm. Alright, I'll humor you.
Itsuki closed the book and slid it back into the small hole. "No, not at all." The boy had wanted little else than to find information pertaining to what he was and especially on how him and Ura were connected, but with his recent conversation with Kyoko and now Kerryn's comment, he felt himself thinking over things much more than before.
So, he continued to look over the titles on the shelf, regarding most of them with disinterest.
"Mm.." Was all the comment she made, although she was a little disappointed. "I should be going home." She remarked after a moment of silence, "Bri is probably wondering where I've been..." She sighed, knowing that if Bri had to come look for her again that she'd get grounded - again -.
The boy looked over at her for a moment then nodded. "Trust me, I know that feeling." Though, his small scowl was obvious evidence of his disapproval of that kind of behavior from his guardian.
"I'll probably see you around," he commented, not sure if he wanted to leave the room just yet.
"Alright, see you." Kerryn responded with a smile, moving to the stairs and padding her way to the bottom, finding the front door with ease and letting herself out onto the streets of Durem.

Dear Journal, Today, I went to the shop. I expected to see someone when I went there, but instead no one, so I retreated to the behind the counter area to wait for something to happen or for someone to show up. Well, someone showed up. His name was Itsuki, and apparently he knows Yeste' too. He was very hard to talk to, or get comfortable around, I don't know why though. I should take some time to figure that out. He and I talked about knowing too much and knowing too little, and what good knowing things were. But, I got the feeling we were just dancing in circles around each other. ~Kerryn

Quote: Dear Simulacra,
I'd like to invite you to a get together this week to celebrate St Patrick's Day. More importantly, we'd like to give all the Simulacra a chance to meet each other. This is also an opportunity to show you the new discovery a few of us made about the shop!
This is top secret, though, so don't tell your Guardian or anyone but a fellow Simulacra. In the shop garden, on the end farthest from the shop, there is a door set in the wall. The door goes straight through the Durem wall! On the other side there is a path that leads to a hidden Glade. Within the Glade are statues and carvings. All of which all seem to some how relate to us, the shop and spirit who lives there.
The path will be well lit with lanterns leading to the Glade, so no worries about getting lost. We will provide food and drinks and hopefully entertainment.
My mother will be out of town the week of St Patricks day, so I plan to stay in the glade, or at least at the shop from Thursday until Saturday, so even if you come late, someone should be there to greet you.
Please feel free to bring food and treats to share. Also, if you know of a younger simulacra who might not make it without someone to bring them. Offer to watch them for the evening and bring them along as well!
-Ray Blinking as a carefully written letter was pushed under the door to her apartment, Kerryn put down the jug of milk she had hefted from the fridge. Placing the milk jug on the floor instead of the countertop because it was easier.
Walking over to the door, she stooped down and picked up the letter, looking it over with a smile before rushing to see if Ray was still at the door. He wasn't, she noted with a frown, as she looked back down to the letter. A St. Patrick's Day party? This Thursday? Absently, she wondered how to get there without Bri tagging along or having someone 'watch out' for her. She didn't want to be treated like such a child, even though she knew that she was.
Taking the letter to her room, she made a mental note to ask Bri what they were doing on Thursday when she got back from grocery shopping.

Just her luck.
Stumbling through the door, arms loaded down with groceries, Bri was tripped by an unseen object. Paper bags filled with groceries taking flight as Bri fell to the hardwood flooring with a loud "UHMP!"
Hurried footfalls were heard comming down from Kerryn's bedroom as Bri groaned, looking back towards her feet to determine the item that tripped her.
The milk jug.
"Kerryn.." Bri started with a twitch, looking at the groceries that landed, scattered around the kitchen. Thank the heavens nothing was broken, that was of course because she bought nothing that could break, but that couldn't be said for the milk jug which had almost -exploded- apon impact.
Kerryn's small voice came from around the corner, "Mommy?" She asked sweetly.
"Kerryn." Bri repeated, trying not to get angry at her daughter who was hiding behind the wall, trying to stay out of trouble. "Why didn't you put the milk jug away?" She ground out as she got to her feet and started to collect the fallen groceries.
"I.. I forgot." She covered up neatly, remembering how Ray's note told them not to say anything about it to their Guardians. "I'm sorry.. I'll clean it up." Kerryn offered quickly, darting out into the kitchen to search through a drawer for a dish towel to start mopping up the spilt milk.
Eyeing her daughter, Bri shook her head. Something was up, she knew it.
"No use crying.." She murmured to herself as she started setting the groceries away - mocking the old phrase.

Dear Journal, Mom is mad at me because I left the milk jug out in the hallway today. I really didn't mean to, but Ray's invitation caught me off guard and I was busy trying to figure out how I was going to get myself to the St. Patrick's Day party rather than what I had been doing. Which reminds me, I still have to ask Bri what St. Patrick's Day is.. Knowing her it'll be another occassion for which she'll make me wear a dress.. I'm quite interested in going, although I want to find a way to go without Bri coming or having an 'older' Simualcra - Ray called us that - to look out for me. I don't like being treated like I'm so much younger than everyone else is, but atleast Yeste', Ronin, and Itsuki are my age, I might see them at the party. It's a little unnerving, seeming so young but feeling that I am not. I've been feeling old lately, like I need to rest. Tired, maybe, but old. ~Kerryn

Dear Journal, Bri told me today that we're going out of town for St. Patrick's Day. I hate her so much right now! Even if I can't tell her that I want to go to the Simulacra party, because she isn't supposed to know about it, I want to tell her that we have to stay in town. She's just going to make me play with her friends children. Stupid, young children who don't have any interest at all in gardening or doing things other than playing with their little plastic dolls. I'm beginning to hate dolls. All they say is 'Kerrie' - I hate being called Kerrie - 'Kerrie, will you come play princess with us? Barbie is a princess, you have to be the wicked step sister.' or 'Kerrie, can you take us to the park so we can meet Ria so we can play faeries?!' They don't show the slightest bit of thought about anything but their stupid little made up games. I don't want to go. Bri CAN'T make me. ~Kerryn

Light as a whisper, stocking feet moved over the hard wood flooring blanketing the the surface of the apartment, heavy boots held afloat by two gloved hands. Looking around in the dark, Kerryn listened for signs that Bri was still sleeping, a small sigh of relief and a mischievious smile being drawn when she heard the tell tale snoring - although Bri wouldn't ever admit she snored.
Checking her pockets for the necessities she nodded to herself. Key - check. Watch - check. Invitation - check.
What else could she have needed?
Slinking past Izzy's room she eyed the iguana for a moment as if daring him to tell Bri, although from the lazy way he regarded her she didn't feel at all like her secret was threatened. Next, it was to the kitchen where she made her way to the fridge, grappling her way up onto the counter next to it. Removing one of the woolen gloves encasing her hands, she groped along the top of the fridge for one of the apartment keys only to knock down a basket of loose change and items.
The clatter was deafening and Kerryn knew that if she didn't get out of there soon she'd be caught. And, then there would be -NO- way she'd be able to go to the party. None at all.
Scrambling down from the counter she dropped her boots next to the fridge and tried to run lightly down the hallway, bumping into Bri as she swung out of her bedroom to look for the source of all the noise. Looking down at her daughter, Bri's lips pressed into a thin line as she took inventory of the jacket, scarf, and one mitten she wore.
Shoulders dipping slightly, Kerryn sighed and closed her eyes.
"Busted.."
