Whoa I was going to ask that too! They sure look like Peridots (my birthstone) but I'm the only August purkle, so they can't be your birthstone!

My favorite stones are rubies though, which aren't my birthstone, but if I was born a day earlier they would be!

yes they are peridots...i look at them like this...my parents and my kids are all august babies...lol...so the largest stone will be jake the oldest...the 2 beside that one are the twins...lol...and the outer 2 i say are my parents...cause without them there would be no me wink

now i know they say diamonds are a girls best friend...but in all honesty i dont like diamonds...i havent ever been one to like plain...i love colored gems...now my birthstone, the garnet, is pretty...and emeralds are just awesome...citrines are an awesome gem too..but i love the mystic topaz...like in the pic i posted in the other thread...i love the multi-colors in it...

Ahhhh so like a family birthstone ring!! I love it! And what a coincidence they're all in August!! eek

I forgot that a few years ago, Jason's family got the mom a birthstone ring with 11 different stones on it, all the same size, one for each kid, and it looked great! They were in two rows, kind of offset with each other so one row had 6 and one had 5. There were a lot of Januarys and Aprils, but it looked great the way they did it! 3 January, 3 April, 1 June, 1 July, 1 August, and 2 December!

My family ring, even including parents, would only have 3 stones on it. January, May, and August. Or if I did my nuclear family of origin, it would be 1 March, 1 April, 1 May, 1 August. I guess those could be nice depending on how they're done!

That is beautiful!!! But now I have to show off my present too. I know you all saw the rings I posted in the other thread, but this is one he shocked me with! I had NO idea he had even thought about a ring for Christmas.

he does, but I make it easy for him. I find the rings on Maui Divers.com and save pics of the ones I like. It's just a matter of looking over the pictures... biggrin

When I married Jim a year ago Halloween, we picked out a ring with three garnets (my birthstone) I have three kids, and it was also my third (and final) husband... I did not wait 25 years for #3 to mess it up rofl

If I had a mother's ring of my three, it would be an Amethyst, an Emerald, and October (I know the one stone for October is Opal, but they also say not to wear them unless they are your birthstone, and personally, I do not know how regularly I would condition an opal rolleyes which is what they need to stay in the best condition)

The deal with Opals (my birthstone) is that you cannot wear one if you buy it yourself. An opal given to you is fine. Also, out of all the opals I own, I never conditioned any and they are even more beautiful than the day I bought them. Yes, they are my stone therefore it is fine to buy them and wear safely...

I feel teh exact same way. I never wanted a diamons ring, too plain. So Danni and I got each other claddaughs with each other's birthstone (garnet and peridot). My favorite stone is emerald, followed very close by garnets.

such beautiful rings!

i was just thinking that a ring would be nice if it had all the family's birthstones in it and fawN goes and tells us about one!

Nibbles i'm totally jealous of your gorgeous hibiscus ring, i'm going to have a look on that website now!

I didn't know all that about opals. Had never heard anything about the opal do's and don'ts! I have opal earrings that my mom gave me, but since nibbles said if it's given, it's ok, I'm safe!

I thought there was another alternate october birthstone that's a pink gem? I had a good friend who had one on his class ring. 3nodding Some people said it made him look gay, but he WAS gay! I don't think his birthstone had anything to do with it, but then his twin brother picked a different stone because he was too 'manly' to wear pink...

Bubba's dad is a jeweler, and always kept any opals he had not used yet in vials with some kind of oil in it to keep them 'moist' He had said they aill get little microscopic fractures which make them 'break'. Who knows, maybe it has to do with the whole living in the desert and dry air conditions. Never thought to ask him since I have no plans/expectaions/desire to live anywhere else, rofl
I remember one opal he had that was absolutely gorgeous. It was an uncut black opal... I kept trying to think of a reason for him to give it to me, I must have known I could not buy an opal for myself lol (Bubba is almost 10, and his dad and I parted ways while I was still expecting him, so my memory is probably somewhat fuzzy on what he might have said about the ownership superstitions)
