"Nothing I wouldn't endure for you." was Hikaro's reply as his wing folded completely, the other slightly extending to recieve the brunt of another attack should it come. He was carefully examining Klonoa's shins when the marble phoenix's voice startled him. But Klonoa wasn't speaking to him, he was speaking to Mirabelle. Suprised, Hikaro turned to see that indeed, a small tear was trekking down the soot black face of the girl. Already? Surely it couldn't have been that soon?

As soon as Klonoa queried she replied with two more darkballs, which Hikaro made move to block, but missed one. The other whipped past him toward Klonoa as the first dug into his abdomin, searing a perfect circle into his chest. His shirt ignited from the magic and Hikaro jounced lightly as he furiously patted it out, looking to see if Klonoa was alright.

The energy blast caught Klonoa full on and he was blasted into a tree nearby. He fell down in a slump, his shirt torn to shreds, his face scarred. He wasn't bleeding, but he was no longer concious. His tiny form could not take the attack and his mussed up violet hair fell into his eyes.

Mirabelle ignored the tears and watched with soaring triumph. "You will loose. I don't care which of you dies first!" She was proud of herself, she wouldn't let them get to her. No. She had a job to do, one she'd wasted her life on... she'd killed people, and the memory and knowledge of this would haunt her unless she kept killing. She needed blood, so she took the air around her into her hands and cradled it, shaping it into razor sharp boomerangs barely visible. If thrown correctly they could create a sonic boom, and anyone who passed science class and knows what the doppler effect is will know that sonic booms are very very bad.

Hikaro jumped to attention when Klonoa was blasted back. He'd forgotten how Klonoa was so much smaller than himself. He rushed to where Klonoa lay, cradling the violet boy in his arms. Letting out a distressed cry, Hikaro brushed the violet strands away, wishing he could do more in terms of healing.

"Damn it." He growled under his breath. Klonoa's plan had better work, he wasn't gonna lose his phoenix this day. Still, Hikaro would not attack Mirabelle, and he struggled to keep his anger in check, for if he lost control... Instinctively he lay down Klonoa and stepped in front of him, between his beloved and the danger ahead. In his gaze was not hatred or malice, but the unfailing conviction and willingness to stand for Klonoa and what he believed in.

Mirabelle's eyes widened, she wanted anger from him. Not this. No, he wasn't going to get angry. He would simply keep that same face. She cried out in pain, something was hurting her. Something in her heart. She was sad, for once, she was feeling all the pain she locked away, the pain her Father had locked away for her. The sonic booms dispersed from her hands and only one weak one aimed for Hikaro. She went down onto her knees clutching her stomach, one hand out to keep her from falling over. She glared up at him breathing hard. "No. BE ANGRY DAMNIT! I CANT KILL YOU IF YOURE NOT ANGRY!" This wasn't fair. The battle had only just begun and she was letting them get to her... but really... she'd been letting them get to her her entire life.

Klonoa stirred, he couldn't yet move but his blinking eyes looked up to the golden phoenix protecting him. He let a smile cross his lips as he drifted off once more, blinking back into exsistance and sitting up with a groan.

Mirabelle stood back up with difficulty and with a cry formed five more sonic booms arrows and shot them all at Hikaro.

Hikaro was becoming quite the punching bag today. She shot out a weaker boom at him, which blew against his already wounded torso and caused him to stagger a step backward. Hikaro gritted his teeth against the pain and against crying out and stood up again, proudly crested by the light filtering through the trees. Her demands for his anger almost caused him to smile, but it was crushed as she flung five more boomerangs at him.

Pow! Pow! Pow! Pow! Pow! The arrows blasted the nearby air with a reverberating echo and roar that put thunder to shame. Hikaro curled his wings inward, releasing a keening cry of anguish as his feathers were torn free and buffeted along the wake of the arrows in the air. They drifted like autumn leaves to the floor as Hikaro was battened by the last three arrows and their resulting dopplegangers.

He was hurt.

Braced as he was, the boomerangs sundered his form with the same force as blades, and Hikaro staggered, thin but deep wounds seeping the fluid that kept him alive. His wings, rendered useless at last by his now near complete lack of feathers limply hung at an odd angle as Hikaro's knees buckled. Unable to stand any longer, he slid to the ground in a pool more red than his feather had been at infancy.

"Klonoa..." He rasped, and checking to see if the marble phoenix was okay finally smiled. He could do little more to protect him now, save stand up again. His legs flexed and trembled as he tried to erect himself once more.
"I...I love you." Hikaro whispered as his legs failed him again and he sank back to the leaflitter, his eyes closing.

Klonoa's eyes widened in shock as he watched her beat him with horror. It wasn't supposed to go this way, it wasn't supposed to be that bad. He gently reached out his marble hand, his delicate fingers reaching to touch Hikaro, and then those words... the split his heart. Brothers? Who was he kidding. He was in love... in love with Hikaro. No longer able to fool himself, his violet eyes softened and he moved his body with a rush of pain that was nothing but happiness in his eyes, he went to hug the sunshine phoenix. "I love you too ... Hikaro..."

Mirabelle brought her hands to her head and screamed, "NOOO! No it's not supposed to be this way! IT CANT BE THIS WAY! You can't... you don't even love me... you love him... I'm your sister! DOES THAT NOT EVEN MATTER?!"

One of the smaller four-legged pets appeared in the doorway, followed by a pale staggering Zaner. The pet, named Alchamae and the following one, named Litra flew over to Hikaro and Klonoa. They brushed their wings against the golden yellow Hououza and then against Klonoa's cheeks. Both became speckled with a sparkling white powder resembling some of the drugs, closest in resemblence to opium. It shone for a moment before sinking into the wounds and healing them.

Mirabelle watched in horror, the tears poured from her eyes and then a coughing interupted her. It was Zaner, she was on her knees. Her solumn sunken eyes looked to Klonoa. "Tell... her.... what you.... feel..."

Klonoa looked up from next to Hikaro. His violet eyes searching his sister's pink ones from under his muss of hair. He whispered something inaudible and then said, "You're wrong Bell. I love you. I always did... you just angered me. I may not like the things you do, but I'll always love you. Now end this."

Mirabelle paused. Life stopped for her. She stood up uneasily on her charcoal black legs, the symbol of the devil fading from her leg. So this was it? This was the end? She knew she wouldn't be able to live with this pain... she'd killed so many... she looked to Zan who had now collapsed, surrounded in a pool of black blood. This was her fault. She seemed to move in a daze over to Zan, and then everything hit her. The sobs racked her as she hovered over her mother, "Mo...momma..." The tiny child's voice broke the echoing silence as she sunk to her knees. No longer a threat, not even truly a teen at heart... she was just a hurt child... hurt and alone. The sorrow and pain she felt etched her soul and the words Klonoa said seemed to try to patch them, but the wound was far too deep. It would never heal.

Klonoa started as Zan fell, he looked down to Hikaro whispering, "It's over... please... are you well enough Hikaro? I need to go to my mother." Klonoa tried to stand up, hoisting Hikaro, but he was buckling under the adult's weight.

Hikaro was unconcious and missed Klonoa's confession. As Klonoa embraced him, his breath was shivering and faint. Blood spattered him entirely, even seeping along the tips of his hair. But the two pets had approached them, and healed them, and the wounds sealed up, leaving dark scars along his pale skin. The scorch mark on his chest from the darkball left a perfectly circular shallow wound that hardened over, and yet would take time to fully heal.

Bewildered eyes came into focus as Klonoa told Mirabelle how he loved her despite her cruelty, and how he'd always love her. It struck a familiar chime and Hikaro smiled. So that was what it took, that is what was needed...

He felt himself being lifted and his feet automatically tried to find footing on the ground made slippery with blood. Not just his own, Hikaro marveled for a moment, but Zaner's! Hikaro stood fully and lifted his arm away from Klonoa. He nudged the phoenix to where Zaner lay.
"Go to her, my friend. I will be here."

As Klonoa left his side, Hikaro staggered close by and leaned against a tree for support, watching with confusion as to what was happening to Zaner. Had she been attacked? The woman was always so nice to him.
PostPosted: Fri Jan 27, 2006 9:28 pm

The woman of violet hair lay unmoving, her ears weren't even twitching. Her body was covered in the black blood, black as the night. A final shudder wracked her body and she lay utterly still. Her prized mage hat rolled to Klonoa's feet as he walked to her.

The marble teen kneel before his mother, reaching out to pull her into his lap. "Mom? Momma?"

Mirabelle let out a huge sob, "She's gone Klonoa! She's dead... It's my fault! All my ... fault..." She buried her face in her hands.

Klonoa didn't understand, he didn't want to. He didn't believe it. "No... no... no she... she... can't... do something... do something for her!" He shook Zan's body, his delicate fingers trembling, trying to wake her. "GET UP! Get up Mom! Stop playing... stop..." A sob escaped his lips and he hugged her tight. "Mom..."

Mirabelle let more sobs pass her own lips, she was torn. She let her hands fall as she felt she could no longer cry... no longer feel pain. Her body was numb as she held her hands out to Zan, touched her freezing pale white skin. Her fingers trembled as she extracted the soul from her body, it was like her skin, pale and cold. It flickered as if dying like her body did and then before Mirabelle could stop and contain it, it zoomed off. Neither child ever knew what became of it for a long time.

Klonoa did not look up to see what Mirabelle had done, he merely let the sobs shake him as he held onto his mother. Slowly he put her down, face up. Her eyes were already closed, she was smiling. She always smiled. Klonoa looked back to Hikaro, his tears stained face making him look tragic as well as making his violet eyes blood shot from the sobs. Klonoa shook his head. He didn't want to admit it.

Mirabelle sat there in shock, her body wouldn't move. Nothing would ever be the same. From this moment on... the Sakei family... was changed... forever.

And just like that...She was gone.

Somehow, amidst the sobs and the cries, Hikaro had the feeling a textbook profecy had come to pass. How odd it was then, that all three of them were caught up in such a tragic display of fate and destiny, where courage and stregnth of willpower seemed already predetermined. So perhaps there was a script afterall, and though they changed the words, the outcome remained the same. Death in the family.

Hikaro thought bitterly on how Asher would probably be pleased by such a passing. At least Mirabelle, who had been death's own servent herself had found remorse and sorrow for the deeds she had done.

And yet, they had all died at one point, hadn't they? All Hououza were living before so cruelly turned back into fluffy little inanimate objects. With an exhausted sigh, Hikaro's legs began to fail again and he gripped onto the tree for dear life.

That was when he noticed Klonoa was looking at him, broken in sorrow and denying what was only truth. Wouldn't he do the same, if his own father so suddenly passed? He'd likely be lain under one of his own sculptures. Hikaro was only glad he managed to survive.
"We have to call a hospital or a morgue." Hikaro said,
"How do you think Zaner would like to be put at rest?"
PostPosted: Sat Jan 28, 2006 1:18 pm

Mirabelle spoke no words after the event for many a long minutes. And even then she said nothing but inaudible murmers. Her light feet took her away from the scene, and she lift herself upon the air currents and took off. She had no intention of returning. She landed in a tree far away and curled up against herself. Daddy would punish her, and she knew it. She lay in wait for the moment of her full demise to come.

Klonoa still wouldn't accept it. He couldn't. But he looked upon Hikaro, who was unable to stand properly and he stood up and walked heavily to him. His feet dragged and then he pressed his marble body against the golden body of Hikaro. "I don't know... I don't know... I don't.... she's not..." He shook his head trying to bury himself in his lover. What would come of all this? Only misery and sorrow. The blame would not be placed on Bella however. No... it wasn't Bella's fault... it was no one's and he hoped everyone would understand that.

Litra and Alchamae lay by their dead master unable to understand what had happened. This just wasn't right, it wasn't true... it wasn't... fair.... Then again was anything ever really ...fair? Perhaps not. No not really. From the forest came a rustling of leaves as Junpei appeared. Junpei, the deaf mute who had run away so long ago. He had run and Zan had cried, trying to find him... and now he returned... to find her dead. He looked from Klonoa, to Hikaro back to her body. His mental cries were distressed and out of place, 'What's... what ... happened?' The normally calm Hououza was stricken with grief.

"Ssh Klonoa, don't speak now." Hikaro said, gladly relenquishing his grip on the tree with one hand to embrace Klonoa tightly, though the pressure on his wounded chest was great. It would take Klonoa time to accept his mother's death, but denying it did no good. No one really could understand what had happened here, and the only one who truly knew was Zaner, but her lips had fallen silent. Hikaro dropped his head to bury his nose in the light feathers of Klonoa's hair, nuzzling him and for once not trying to hide it.

He started when Junpei appeared from the forest, right on cue. He'd almost stepped where Zaner lay, instead splotching a food on one of the many scattered pools of blood. Hikaro shook his head, unable to answer.

"Klo...Did Zaner have any journals, any indication of what might have transpired?" Hikaro asked quietly, almost whispering to the teenager in his arms.

Klonoa shook his head softly, not wanting to let go of Hikaro. The youth did not want to look upon his lost sibling. He did not want to look at anyone at all. He didn't hug Hikaro tightly though for he knew his loves wounds were probably still hurting, healed though they were. His soft melodic voice rang quietly through the air, "No. She... had an admirerer though... who... came by the other day to give us a manuscript. She refused to read it, merely she put it away in a drawer, not letting us read it... either." He sounded pained to speak, and although Hikaro had previously asked him not to speak, he couldn't help but answer the golden phoenix.

Junpei stood frozen in time, just like Mirabelle had done. He knelt by Zaner and stroked her hair, muttering mute apologies over and over. The words visible upon his lips but no sound emitting from them. He shook his teal hair in disbelief, this wasn't happening. He stood up and stepping over her body carelessly he jolted upstairs to go retrieve said manuscript.

Lovers though Klonoa knew them to be, Hikaro thought Klonoa still thought him a brother, and was curious almost as to why Klonoa would still be so willing to be near him when he foolishly confessed what he had known the entire time. Hikaro expected awkwardness, he expected confusion or even malice, but Klonoa seemed not to think on it at all but just clung to him.

The sunshine phoenix leaned against the tree heavily to avoid from leaning all over his young friend. The marble teenager wasn't strong enough to hold his weight, and must still had been reeling from the darkball he took head on.

He watched the teal hared teen dart past Zaner and into the house, and he wanted to follow- to find a couch and sit or lie down, but could do neither, or leave Zaner upon the ground where she had fallen. Lifting a cool hand, he reassuringly stroked Klonoa's hair, the very hair he so adored.

Klonoa nuzzled him and then he pulled back, "Can you walk? Alchamae and Litra should've fully healed you... come on... I'll bring Zan ..." His face seemed to fall a bit as his fluffy haired cheshire brother walked back out.

His sighed, 'This person must've been stalking mother, he has her entire life story in here. Every single god damned detail, even our names and species.' He waved the manuscript in his delicate fingers. It's pages swished bitterly.

Klonoa sighed, "Junpei, help bring Hikaro in to lie down... find Kudo and get him out here to help me... or better... I'll get Kudo..." Klonoa's eyes looked tired as his hands ruffled his own hair.

Junpei made no arguments as he floated over to stand by Hikaro, he nodded a short hello before holding out his hand, 'I'm not weak, you can lean on me.'

Klonoa swiftly walked past Zan's body into the house to get Kudo, who came out immediately after he walked in. He'd been in the hallway and had frozen when he saw her. His silky voice had told his lover to stay put as his golden ears pressed to his head to help Klonoa. He took off his harness gently throwing it on the kitchen table before hoisting Zan into his arms. "She's ... really?"

"Yea..."

Junpei blinked, 'Oh yea and I called the hospital...'

"I don't want to leave her outside, really and Klonoa you can't hold her." The blood dripped off his body in heaps. The fox whore sighed a bit and looked to Klonoa, "Get towels. I hate seeing her this way."

Junpei looked back to Hikaro still holding out his hand.

(There is a slight error in your last post.
Klonoa sighed, "Klonoa, help bring Hikaro in to lie down...")

It took very advanced healing magics to fill the body with blood again. His cuts had sealed over, but Hikaro was still feeling woozy, and his chest, back and wings still hurt like all heck. His wings...! Hikaro curled in one to look at the featherless limb with dispair. He tucked them in again to make them as small as possible. It was humiliating to see a bird without feathers.

Junpei floated up to him and extended his hand. After Klonoa left his side, Hikaro pushed himself off of the tree and took Junpei's hand in his own cooled one. He utilized Junpei's offer for help and together they made it back into the house.
"Thank you," He said very sincerely, sorrow weighing heavy in his normally vibrantly golden eyes. Their luster had faded to a muted brown that would return to normal within a few days time to rest and heal.

Hikaro was quiet, he'd leave Klonoa to grieve out of his way, but would be there for the marble youth to come to- if he wanted him.
Once seated though, he began to look over his most pressing wounds, taking off his tattered shirt so the cloth would not become embedded in his injury or dirty it. It needed to be cleaned and dressed, but it could wait.

Kudo caught his attention though, absently, Hikaro wondered what his father would say about the fox.
