The more the Jager was forced forward the louder and more distinct the familiar voice became, it was Nick. She was now warning Edge of something... Something of Armor. Quickly the shadows enclosed around Kai none attacking, just mocking her every move.

Their red eyes looking into Kai's past and dragging up any event they could. Things she may have forgotten, her parents, her time in the military, anything the fog could get a hold of it grabbed and forced it into remembrance.

The Jury lowered its head and prepared for a head on impact. Its scythes pulled pulled back behind its body as it picked up speed. The blades rotated so each sharp end faced away from the ZOID.

Each shadow begun to run faster and faster. Each one screeching in different tones.

The Iron Judge grinned behind her mask. Her 'iron' hand gripped the control tightly in preparation for impact. More wires attached themselves to her arm and face. Each wire creating more more connection between the pilot and the ZOID, and in turn made the Nick's voice to Edge clearer.
It warned of armor again, but the second part was clear. -The fog, it twists her mind. She will suffer greatly if she is here longer.-

"What's wrong little one?" The Iron Judge's words echoed throughout the entire cockpit, and not the com-link. It was as if it were in the cockpit with the Republic pilot.

Edge ignored the voice at first, focused solely on making the furious, battle-hardened Jager forwards, through the taunting, mocking shadows that irritated the organoid to a savage, blood-thursting degree. The warning voice could be heard, though he refused to release his hold on Jager and Kai this time. What about armor? What was it?

Kai followed Edge's hints, and pressed Jager's controls forwards, but the eyes.. those eyes...

Fires lept up around her, biting at her skin. Screams off in the distance seemed oddly foreign, almost alien. But as she turned, she saw another missile land on what was once her home. The explosion knocked her down, debris belting her from above, glass shattering over her. She watched as her father pulled himself from the broken wood of their home- her mother didn't follow. The rapid sounds of explosions came as an automatic gun ripped the earth, cutting the path between herself and her father. A second line went right over him.

Kai gasped, shaking her head. Now was not the time for memories. Not the time to be thinking about something like that! She narrowed her eyes, trying to focus..

She leveled the gun at the rogue-like figure who held a young man in his grasp- a knife angled across his neck. The outlaw was hooded, but one could see the yellowed teeth of his evil grin. "Drop the gun, or he dies." He said through his disgusting smirk.

She hesitated. He slit the boy's throat.

Nausea flipped Kai's stomach at another well-burried memory. "What.. what's going on.."

The older, battle-scarred pilot grabbed her shirt collar and yanked her from the shield liger's cockpit, picking her up and holding her over the side- the ground many meters away. "You're weak. Be strong, or be gone." And he dropped her, the young version of Kai hitting the zoids forelimb then the hard, dusty ground, the sickening snap of her collar bone and left arm resounding to the listening ear.

When this image dropped, her vision was blurry, and all she could see were those eyes.. the red eyes..

"Kill him." The figure beyond the bars said, smirking with a savagry that seemed akin to cannibalism. "Kill him, and you can leave and take this one with you." Kai was on the ground, taken captive at some point in her military career, with one of her subordinates held in the same cell. Another was outside, beaten and waiting. Hunger pained and weakened every movement- how long had she been here? "You'll never be useful, until you can let go of every humanly value you have. Pick which you'll save." Time blurred by the vision- weeks, a month, two. One beaten, one waiting for her to decide how long he would live.

The vision cut off before her decision could be seen by her mind's eye again, though guilt shuddered her form, brought tears to the hardened pilot's eyes. Both hands were pulled from the controls to hold her head as she stiffled a scream of outrage and grief.

Edge could sense Kai's extreme mental anguish, and he also knew what was causing it. Nick's voice- but where was she?- made him want to turn around, but he knew that Kai would refuse, nor did he want to release this particular strike. He paused Jager's movements as Kai's grief deepened, the zoid partially appreciative, partially wanting to keep moving from the depths of these hellish shadows.

"Forget me, just go!" Kai growled, through clenched teeth, releasing one hand from her head with taught muscles to grip the controls and push them hard forwards. Jager broke into a run, boosters suddenly blazing. She had to move, now. Forget the memories, forget the past! Claws blazed gold, side blades shimmered and burned with the sharp cutting intensity of honed lasers. The initial impact of Jager's side-blade to Jury was going to be angled if it hit, an attempt to de-blade one of its scythes, but still far more direct than was normal for a pilot of her general calliber. The pilot was unable to answer the Iron Judge's words, emotion wracking her body from the past she'd burried so deep.

-Kai- Nick's voice cut through the illusions. Her unconscious self finding a way to communicate somehow through the fog's illusions directly into Kai's mind. -Focus. Its not real, your past is nothing to be ashamed of. You are alright. But you have to get out of the fog. It will only twist your mind further. You are alright.....- The voice trailed off again.

The Jury willing took the hit, even going as far not to ram the Jager. However it was left without a dent from the Jager's blade. It was than Nick's waring to Edge was made clear. The armor was something none had seen before. Something the weapons of a normal ZOID would not touch. Something of -her- creation. The only ZOID to have the armor and the only one she was and will ever be able to create.

The ZOID looked so fragile, yet that was only more illusions. The Iron Judge chuckled at the attempt. Even the Jury sent cackles Edge's way.

The scythe whipped around aiming downward to slice through the middle of the ZOID. Blue fire spewed from its mouth toward the Jager's chest at the same time as the head lurched forward again. Its entire body backing up the force put into the headbutt. The Jury's head was already lowered due to the previous charge.

Hazy vision tried to look beyond the taunting red eyes, to listen to the familiar voice- Nick? Was it really her?

More memories flooded past, but they became less all-encompassing, and Kai could see through them to the present. Edge's mind touched hers without their usual physical connection. His persistance forced her eyes to see beyond the illusions- to see Jury beyond the shadows and mocking faces.

With no give in Jury's armor against the side blade, the Jager was jolted sideways at impact. The fierce agility of the Jager turned the sideways jolt into a more intentional movement- spinning it backwards, the feline-like zoid jumping away from the scythe as soon as its claws dug deep enough into the earth to evade. However the blue fire caught the Jager's chest armor upon retreat, cooking the blue, white and red paint into a roasted black and brown.

The heat rose up through the cockpit, making Kai gasp for breath against the rising temperatures.

We must leave here. Edge's feeling-like words swept across their bond, his emotions seeming far.. far too calm for the situation. Jager repositioned himself, and prepared for the headbutt. His jaws opened, teeth glowing savage gold. As soon as Jury's charge brought it close enough, Jager would move and bite into the- hopefully- less armored section just behind the head. At least, normal zoids were more vulnerable there. The trio were taking a chance, but their chance to withdraw hadn't come yet. Not in this close of quarters with the terrifying zoid-like creature.

The Jury's head thrust upward into the Jager's mouth with another burst of flame. Its vertical pointed horns would be in position to strike at the Jager's head at the mere arch of the neck. The ram-like horns would prevent the Jager's fangs getting too close to the joint just behind the head, and the only area on the neck not lined with sharp bony Vertebrae.

Two more scythes came overhead as the ZOID's head turned upward. This time they aimed to pierce the ZOID through Jager's back mounted boosters. Another pair came around the side, two coming from the top and two more from each side. The ones coming from the side aimed to catch the Jager in a vice-grip. Though the fog did not reveal them completely, the ones coming from the top seemed to be the much larger of the scythes. Possibly even reaching a an even greater length than the ZOID using them. The two coming from the side were large but not nearly as large.

Even at this range the fog masked any important detail on the Jury. Yet something was still familiar about it... Something all Organoids knew about from long ago, but most had forgotten in their frozen animation.

Condemned before the time of the Death Saurer... All true Organoids knew that regardless of their status of memory. And so far only four true Organoids have been revived, one of which is now permanently melded to its ZOID's body.

This wasn't a good position.

Jager's laser-sharp fangs would, if contact was made, end up on the side of Jury's head at a final decision to not get poked through with pointed horns. He'd grip and tug, wrenching at the metal impossible to break that it could grab with that bite.

Jager twisted, the flame catching his shoulder, burning and dulling one of the smaller blades which protected the joint there, as well as beginning a detrimental melting of Jager's precious, but poor, armor in that area. It had been one of the things Kai had to sacrifice when putting a CAS unit on something besides a Liger Zero frame. The Blade Liger Mirage was too large, and too well-armored to be able to hold the lighter frame of the Jager CAS, and thus much of it had been removed or lightened to allow for fitting.

This was reminding her well of that sacrifice.

Edge saw the scythes coming. They were from all directions, and melee was not a good choice against this opponent. They were too close, and he knew it. Much too close. Not even with full mental sanity could Kai manage to have Jager evade all of this- and the shadows of the deep black fog weren't helping with that fact.

Edge wanted to pull Jager back, but he needed to find a good time- a good opening. The scythes were on them, though, and he had to have Kai react.. now. It was, though with much doubt on Edge's part, a possibility to grab the scythes at their base to try to dismantle the Jury, but there were too many scythes to do that without getting scewered just as quickly from some other angle.

Pull back now Edge commanded in his odd way of doing so. The words weren't needed, since the feeling shared between the three was so instant that Jager wrenched himself back, Kai yanking back hard on the controls, ground giving hard under his sudden trajectory change as he tried to jump away from it all. While he'd evade the vice grip, he wouldn't get away so easily after being so close- one booster was sliced, erupting in a harsh but short-lived explosion and smoke.

"I don't want to fight!" Kai would say suddenly as Jager turned, assuming his escape wasn't hindered any further than the loss of an ion booster, her voice and expression strained. Even though there was no com-link opened, she had a hard time believing whoever the pilot of the zoid-like creature was, they could still hear her. "What do you want with Nick? Let her go.. and we'll leave.."

The Jury reared when the Jager jerked back. The black fog stirred as its feet slammed back into the ground. Slowly it loomed toward the trio, chuckling.

"You think you are in a position to make demands little one?" The Iron Judge laughed over the com-link. Her image once again appeared in front of Kai. Though it was dark Kai would be able to see all the wires vanishing behind the mask.

"We both know I would never let you leave. Being inanimate for a year is no excuse to be so naive." She chuckled darkly. "It is not so much what -I- want."

The Jury snorted and continued slowly toward the Jager.

"But I'm sure you are not one to sit through a boring lecture... So let's skip that." Iron Judge hissed.

Every blade attached to the body of the Jury dug into the ground as it suddenly came to a stop. Through the fog the trio would be able to see a large glowing ball of energy. The illusions begun to close in on the Jager.

Iron Judge's face remained in the com-link. Her right hand moved to her mask. The wires plugged into nearly every inch of the hand and arm from what Kai would see. Slowly the mask was removed revealing Nick behind it. Her right eye glowing brightly and with an arrey of wires attached to it. While the left seemed to be staring right through Kai in a nightmareish daze. The pupil was so narrow the sapphire color nearly hid it completely. Nick grinned devilishly at Kai than went into a full blown maniacal laughter. This image only lasted less than a second before fuzzing away leaving Kai to the dark again.

The glow on the fog begun to grow larger and larger.

-run...-
PostPosted: Mon Dec 14, 2009 5:04 am

At that naivity statement, Kai's mind reeled. She'd only seen one person since she came back. So unless Jury had been in the temple..

"Nick! Nick, is that you?" Kai studied the image over the com-link, but could find really no distinction.. not with that mask, and all those wires.. That would explain Edge's earlier hesitation, though. Her mind stalled as fury became confusion and indecision. This would be a bad time for that though.

Edge hissed inwardly, the consequence being the same noise slipping through Jager's burning fangs.

It is. Was his answer, the feeling of assurance and agreement rising, though he mirrored her anger.

The sudden stop was alarming, and Jager repositioned himself to be prepared to run. The stance of Jury was far too similar to the support needed to fire something as powerful as a charged partical beam. Kai knew it too. As the com-link died and the laughter resounded in the Jager's cockpit, Kai shifted the Jager into a full-out run, pulling hard left of the Jury to circle it. A straight run away from it would do nothing. She couldn't reach top speed- not without both boosters. But Jager was quick regardless.

The ground rumbled as the white and red beam roared over the land leaving glass in its wake. Jury's head slowly turned in chase of Jager. The force of the beam made it hard to move its head quickly, yet with the support of the scythes it was able to fire the beam in multiple directions.

But before the beam could turn too far it suddenly turned upward. The banchi-like screech of the Jury rumbled throughout the area.

Iron Judge pulled back on the controls preventing the beam from perusing Kai. The Jury struggled against this command causing its movements to be choppy. But is was forced into submission just in time.

Nick leaned back in the chair with a sigh and released the controls. She knew what was going to come next... Yet smiled at the small accomplishment of getting the Ancient ZOID to summit and breaking the hold of the Judge for a brief moment. "Get it over with..." She laughed quietly to the ZOID.

The Jury roared as several volts ran through Nick's body. A fair punishment for interfering with the attack. Nick growled as her conscious was again ripped from her, but it was worth it.
PostPosted: Tue Dec 15, 2009 9:25 am

The entire frame of Jager quaked as the ground beneath them shook with the power of the beam as it drove hard into the ground. Jager's agility swept it's path back and forth, claws pushing hard into the ground as it changed direction when the multiple directions of the beam interrupted its path. Right before Jager could be trapped between the slippery, still-heated glass-like path that the beam had already hit, and the beam itself, the beam stopped persueing them.

Nick. Edge stated, though Kai already knew. She'd saved her, yet again. This was becoming a habit, and she wanted to return the favor- as soon as possible.

This is our chance. Edge's concious touched hers with a sense of urgency. This was it, if she wanted to make it out without another scratch.

"Nick." Was Kai's only reply, Jager turning to re-face the Jury.

Understood. The inner feeling suddenly became a voice. Kai's eyes blazed the same hue as Edge's. An ancient, deep power rippled over the Jager and its pilot. Jager's joints and eyes blazed blue. Runic figures rippled over Kai's skin in holigram-like tattoos.

Instead of running away, the trio, burning with a blue hue turned to ram the Jury directly. It had been a tough call- Nick had braved pain and further torture to save them. But for that reason, and so many others, Kai couldn't just leave her there. The rush took them, with a speed that shouldn't be possible with the loss of a booster, directly to Jury's throat area, hopefully exposed with the re-direction of the beam upwards, to grip it with furious, laser-sharp fangs.

The Jury once again reared back at the impact of glowing trio. This time they left a small crack on the neck of the Jury. Something no one has ever done before.

Fire poured out of the Jury's mouth and nostrils in a rage. Its sharp forelegs kicked up than its spiked hooves slammed downward aiming for the Jager. Two more smaller scythes on is ankles pulled up and readied to pinch the troublesome ZOID on impact.

The four scythes on its back were brought downward as well in an attempt to hold the Jager in place as the Jury unleashed its fury upon them.

At the same time the Jury reared a bright light appeared just above the group. Its brilliance even cutting through the fog. The light seemed white, yet subtly it changed colors. Never settling on one. This light was heading right for the Jury.

Edge would be able to feel it even at that distance. -She- was on her way, and quickly. The closer the light got the more he could hear her call. It was far more compelling than the fog itself.
The closer the light got the less Edge would be able to hear Nick's words though the fog.

Jager felt the neck give, and he bit harder, grinding his teeth into whatever crack or crevasse he had managed to make. Edge's power, asleep and suppressed for so long, was not at its full potential, but it was dangerous... hopefully dangerous enough. The power of the Jager had skyrocketed. This was the only opening they had seen to cause damage, and they'd take full advantage.

As the Jury reared up, Jager twisted its neck, wrenching its hold sideways in an attempt to pull the Jury off-balance.

Kai was forced to close her eyes as the visual outside the cockpit became blinding onslaught of Jury's fiery rage. The cockpit simmered in heat and she shifted a lever hard, pulling up Jager's energy shield to take at least some of the damage before it would fail.

The impact of the Jury's forelegs, if it was still a full impact after the Jager had tried to throw it off-balance, would jerk the Jury free of Jager's grip on its throat, and slam the Jager hard to the ground. Kai scrambled, as did Edge, to force the zoid's metallic paws back beneath it to remove itself from the direct pinch of the incoming scythes. For any zoid that was primarily speed and attack based, being pinned was the last thing the pilot would want to happen.

She's coming. Edge's voice said with a grimness to it that made Kai realize instantly that he definitly didn't mean Nick.

Jager had moved, but not far. As it tried to stand the couple meters it had gotten away from the Jury, the connection point of the Jager's left shoulder had been bent by the force of the Jury's hooves' impact. It faltered and stumbled before righting itself, growling at the Jury that it was still much too close to, tail swaying in irritation.

The Jury was close to the point of loosing balance with the Jager at its neck. It had to move it scythes to the ground to support its body so it would not topple over from its neck being twisted. The voices in the fog screamed in frustration.

It tried to attack once again with the scythe once Jager was off of its throat, but the movements were sloppy and unable to make contact.

The light plunged into the Jury. Its form begun to glow red as the Executioner melded with its core. The crack in the armor Jager had worked so hard to create melded back together as if it had never happened. The ground begun to shake as the Jury let out a terrifying roar. Its eye begun to change color in a rhythmic pattern. White fire rolled from its nostrils as it glared at the Jager. Bony arms rose from the ZOID's back in addition to the Scythes, which seemed to now be longer. Each arm came with a bony humanoid hands complete with long sharp claws. Another set of legs emerged behind the forelegs as its form grew larger.

A longer tail whipped around behind the Jury as it stomped. More illusions surrounded the Jager stomping and spouting fire. Nick's voice was no longer carried in the fog, at least it could not be heard. Only -her- voice would be heard calling to Edge, but it came from every illusion, every direction.
PostPosted: Tue Dec 15, 2009 7:11 pm

Jager staggered backwards, the cracked and bent armor over its shoulders from the Jury's hooves making it difficult to move smoothly. All of the confidence Jager had gained from the crack it was able to make was erased just as quickly as the crack itself.

Kai's blindness from the fire cleared just in time to see the light plunge into Jury's form and glow red. Red versus blue. Kai's eyes still blazed blue, and what Edge could see, she could see. The frustrated, screaming shadows were slightly transparent, though still dark, and murky. The voice of the Executioner was heard as unintelligable whisperings to her through their bond, but Edge himself could hear it perfectly clear.

It's her. The draconic organoid announced. His curiosity was pulling him towards the Executioner. He wanted to know. Wanted to know all those things that were removed or suppressed. He wanted to fill the holes of his memory, to release the ancient power he knew he should have. And this pull had been going on for so long, it tugged at his very core to go to her.

Why do you call for me? He finally asked directly, and even Kai's mouth mouthed the words. Jager uttered a rumbling growl as if it too was questioning the Executioner.

Rarely did Kai ever feel fear, but the sight of that creature.. the bony arms.. the humanoid hands.. the legs and fire. It was what nightmares were made of. Edge's fear-less personality supported her when all her instincts to survive made her want to shy back, to recoil, to hide from the thing that was in no possible way natural.

Jager held its ground, since it really had no other choice. All three watched the horrific creature through virtually the same eyes, all three waited in uneasy patience.

-I want all my children- Her elderly voice echoed through the minds of everyone in the fog. -Judgement is at hand, I shall not slumber any longer-

The now eight legged shadows of the Jury begun to close in on the Jager. Each one bearing different color glow, and each color always changing and never the same color as the others. The form the Jury now took resembled the legendary Sleipnir, only with some nightmareish additions and a bony body.

All of their eyes narrowed on the trio, looking deep into their souls, their memories, their lives.

-I know everything that you seek Primoris... My Eldest.... I am the one who locks your memories so tight. And I am the one who will decide what memories and powers you recover.-

All the shadows grabbed at the liger each one with some force behind it as if they were more than just mere shadows. Their bony hands grabbed at any place they could on the Jager. The most force came from the right side.

Nick grunted as more wire attached themselves to her arm, her mind still lost to the nightmare with no hope of recovering this time. Not with the Executioner there, not with the Judge there. Subconsciously she could only wish her sister had made it out alive...
