Vergil rolled his eyes at Lore. "We are all family," he said as if it were the most obvious thing in the world. "Humans live with humans, angels with angels, demons with demons. There is no 'which family' ... it's all just one family!"

He jumped to his feet, his eyes determined. "And I will find my demon brethren and I will live with them!" he declared; and he looked around to see which way he should go.

"Uhm... it doesn't quiet work that way here," Lore murmured wondering who planted that idea in his head.

He was about to say more when Mia interrupted him.

"That's stupid," Mia told Vergil, "We all live in small families, or large ones depending, but no one said we have to live with the race we belong to."

Vergil looked over at Mia and tilted his head curiously. "You live all by yourself, then?" he asked her. "If you don't live with your own race?"

Well, he supposed he could understand that (even if it was a misunderstanding). After all, he had been living on his own for quite a while now, and even though he did find it very lonely, it did have its perks every once in a while.

"Of course not," Mia replied, "I live with Mommy and Daddy and my siblings and my nieces and my nephews and my inlaws.. well I don't really live with all of them, but we all live right in the same area."

Mia smiled a bit and then added before Vergil could get the wrong idea.

"My Mommy is an angel, my Daddy is human, and my biggest sister is part bird, and my biggest brother is a neko. And... I have angels for brothers and sisters, and mers, and humans, and one is a doll like me, and.... another is a fury, and another I don't know what she is, but she has little wings, but I don't think she's an angel. I don't have a demon for a brother, but I do have one for a brother in-law because he married one of my other siblings."

Mia pointed to Lore.

"He's my brother in law too!"

Vergil blinked at Mia, and then looked up at Lore. "How the heck does that work?" he asked her blankly. "You don't all kill each other?"

The poor boy was totally confused ... but his brother had not been a good example, and even as young as he was there was far too much blood on his hands - but he thought it only natural.

Lore shrugged at that, "We just don't. Besides around here it's illegal to kill other people no matter what race they are. I'm going to regret asking this, but is it common for other races to kill each other?"

From his understanding it wasn't, granted also from his understanding the family probably had adopted the majority of the Second population just through other generations also adopting as well.

Vergil stared at Lore. "Illegal?" he repeated, as if he had never heard of it. "And I don't know, I just know what it was like where I was before this ... wherever that was, and wherever this is."

He looked around again, and somehow he seemed bewildered. How had he gotten to a place so different from where he had lived for so long? And why was it so different here? Even the climate was different ...

That wasn't particularly helpful but it worried Lore on where Vergil had been living before this. It was obvious he was a Second, but as far as he knew Seconds were not known to kill each other because of race.

"Judging by your size I would say you're a Second You," Lore told Vergil softly, "But this is the first time I've heard of violence among Seconds. Well except for Corrah but he has.. had social issues."

Lore murmured thoughtfully more to himself on that regard.

"Since we know what he is, shouldn't we just send him back?" Mia inquired.

While it was true under normal circumstances Vergil would be given to the closest adult to be raised, but at the moment Mia wasn't that generous towards the boy.

Vergil blinked at Mia. "Send me back?" he asked in a small voice. He clutched his sheathed sword tightly. "But then I'll be all alone again! I'll never find my family! I'll - I'll - I'll -"

He fell to his knees and bowed his head to the table. "Don't send me back there!" he pleaded. "I beg of you! Don't send me back there! There's no one there at all, no one at all! Do you have any idea what it's like, being all alone like that? There's no one! No one to talk to, even! Don't send me back there! I have to find a family!"

Lore blinked, he really didn't know how to handle this rollercoaster emotion ride this child was on, but he understood at least what the boy meant. It had to be very lonely, which led to the next problem what to do with him.

He couldn't simply go to the nearest demon family and shove the kid off of them because one that probably wouldn't work, and two, he didn't know the nearest demon family. He didn't even know one.

"If you need a family, you would need to be adopted into one...." Lore began.

"So he would need a family," Mia looked at Lore.

"Why do I not like that look?"

Vergil looked up at Lore, his expression blank.

"Usually," he deadpanned, "if you don't like a look it means that the person is thinking something that you aren't going to like."

He looked up at Mia. "Though I have no idea what she might be thinking, so I don't know whether I would like it or not ..."

Mia clapped her hands together, with Alice hanging out from the crook of her arm, "It's only natural someone from our family must do it. I'll do it."

In which Lore looked at her deadpanned because for all Mia was technically as old if not older than any of the other children this was generally not a good idea.

"You're too young."

"Triton wasn't that much older than me when he adopted," Mia pointed out.

Lore didn't want to say that Triton had all his eggs in his basket compared to Mia. Besides one did not put a potentially violent child with a generally violent girl.

"Maybe someone.... bigger. Like...."

He was a bit of a stand still on that, which of the Winters could do this? He suppose he could ask one of his children (or he could ask Elnara if they could take him in). He was trying to think though would be best, Yue had his own child and Vergil would probably scare her. Yukito had his own children and Vergil would probably scare his husband.

"Kali."[/b]

"She's married to her work."

"Trisha."

"She's busy with her work."

"Your mother."

"Twins."

"Yukiko."

"She would never let him near her flowers."

"Cindy."

"She lives in the Borderlands remember? And I think she's going to be there for a while."

"But she might be willing," Lore pointed out even though he had no idea if Cindy would be willing to look after a child on top of her research.

Anyone else was probably either had a child, or couldn't look after a child, or you wouldn't trust with a child.

"Besides, maybe being out in the open would be better for him."

Vergil really had no idea what they were talking about, or who everyone was whose names they were listing, but he perked up a bit, hearing something about an open space.

"Out in the open?" he asked, scrambling to his feet and running between Lore and Mia. "Like ... a good place to live but ... a good outside to be in?"
PostPosted: Sun Dec 06, 2009 8:34 pm

"Well...." Lore murmured, "We live in the middle of a city, well the clan doesn't, but the grounds are close enough to the city..."

"Close enough to get there, but not too close to make the locals nervous. Clan ways make locals uncertain sometimes," Mia admitted.

They were bound by rules and traditions, and clans tended to not take insults very kindly. Granted being a young clan they could make their own rules and traditions but no one hurts one of their own and gets away with it.

"But the Borderlands is out in open space with only a few houses," Lore explained, "We know a young woman... who is actually my sister-in-law who lives out there currently studying the plant life."

Vergil didn't like the sounds of a clan, while he liked the idea of it the ones he had heard of were always too crowded.

"Less buildings, please," he said, holding up his hand as if he were a child at school anxious for a teacher to take note of his opinion.
