Bardiel took the hit directly. the armor was thick and sturdy, so it would take some time for the machine's 'shining fist' to burn all the way through. Bardiel grabbed the offensive arm with it's left hand and brought it's right to the machine's gut, shaped like a knife, with rai crackling around it. It was charging it's energy saber enough to have one hell of a punch once it activated.
On the ground, a few of the progeny stopped, apparently watching the fight. the falling debris from the missiles was of no concern to them. Matariel was among the small group, and her attention was fixated on the enemy mech, a wide grin on her face as she tried to find any opening to get what she wanted. Information.

Small spikes extended from the 'shining fist' to cement the grip on Bardiel. It's other arm moved to protect the machine from the strike, an energy field barrier gripping at the energy saber holding it from connecting.
The fighter seemed to be wasting an absurd amount of power, far too much being used at one time already. The fact was further cemented when the thrusters in the feet actually started to viably output. The smaller mech was pushing against Bardiel and rapidly increasing thrust, looking to be going straight up
Matariel would find a painful amount of mental information coming from the machine. But even the most basic bits didn't make sense. All of it seemed to be as though she was reading a mind reader, reading a mind reader, in a seemingly endless redundant loop of information on the pointless details of how. The best guess this would give was whatever she was detecting was non-organic thought.

Bardiel wasn't going to risk giving the enemy a free hand, so it kept pressure on the blade as it began to ascend. Before they got dangerously high, two rockets shot out from Bardiel's hip armor, aimed towards the ground and moving at a blazing speed.
The mech moved it's shoulder back, hoping to throw the enemy off balance for a moment when it suddenly happened. They both stopped with a shattering halt, Bardiel's armor creaking under the immediate pressure. the missiles it had shot out were anchors, tethered to Bardiel's armor with thick wire. The missiles had buried themselves into the stone ground of the mountain range below.
With the smaller mech's current output, they would slowly descend as the tether was winched in, along with Bardiel's boosters pushing them downwards.
-------------------------------------------------------
"Interesting..."
Matariel was more than used to the mental feedback from a machine, having been designed primarily as support for Bardiel. It would take some time to decipher what she was reading, however.
"Zeruel, stay here and guard me. the rest of you, leave."
Everyone looked at Matariel for a moment before nodding and moving deeper into the first, aside from one woman wearing heavy armor and carrying a massive sword.
Matariel took her headphones off and spread her impressive white wings, which she kept wrapped around herself as a cloak. She was wearing expensive garments underneath, but they mattered little. She extended her wings out as far as she could, a good twenty feet, and kept her eyes locked on the mech.

The move threw the upper section of the machine off balance, but it continued through, one leg bent and shoot it's booster powered leg toward's Bardiel's gut. A knife shooting up out of the kneecap as the leg moved.
The thrust increased to slow their decent, but the mech wasn't trying to win this contest of strength. However the Shining fist was heating rapidly as the thurst increased, all the heat from the engine output somehow being concentrated into the hand. The small drill like spikes increasing their pace through the added armor.
------
The 'thoughts' coming from the machine would eventually make minor amounts of sense. Whatever was controlling it was using some form of device that left the user in near total control. It seemed by the lack of an obvious cockpit the machine was being remotely controlled, however it was unclear given just who was likely to have launched the mech.
It was not something that Matariel would have seen in any glimpses of Lina's memories however, most likely one of the devices the woman she called the Witch had left behind that Lina usually left to rot. The knowlage of that woman however was only tattered glimpses, Lina's mind always had thoughts of her atrocities cleared for fear of something unimaginably evil being brought back into existence.

Bardiel didn't seem affected by the knee much at all, the armor absorbing most of the force, and threatening to shatter the relatively thin blade. It decided to let go of the arm with the burning fist and opted instead to wrap it's arm around the mech's in order to get a good grip on the obscenely tall shoulder armor. It put more power into it's boosters, the yellow being polluted with flecks of green energy. At this rate, thay would make touchdown in a matter of seconds.
While still keeping the pressure on the energy blade, Bardiel attempted to pry the arm off of it's opponent by grabbing the shoulder and pulling it outwards, while applying the opposite force with it's blade. Bardiel's armor was taking a beating, but for the most part no vital systems were harmed. The correlation between this suit and blast armor was becoming eerily similar. it was nothing but solid metal so far, serving little purpose other than to add weight and protect it from something.

All the spikes stopped digging, opting to detach from the hand as it released it's grip. The smaller machine's shoulder suddenly had a hole burned through it as it's beam saber activated while still stored. The weapon was jabbing into the offending arm. The machine adjusted it's thrust and began to pull itself loose.
It's barrier lessened it's grip, knowing that either the hooks would have to be released, or it would if the Bardiel didn't want to risk it's arm. The spikes in the shoulder armor detonated, sending straight concussive force down into the arm as the machine's thrust was pushing up.

Bardiel seemed to recoil in pain as the beam saber punctured it's arm. The detonation in it's shoulder threatened to sling the mech off balance, but they made contact with the ground with enough time for Bardiel to get a solid footing.
Something happened. The anchors locked into place with a hiss as four long blade-like appendages separated from Bardiel's back, two of them sinking into the ground and the other two floating freely in the air, forming an X behind the mech. Static started to build up, pulling anything close enough toward the battle, leaves being plucked off of trees and swirling around the combatants.
Bardiel Had enough use left in it's hand to grab back onto the Mech's shoulder and keep it in place, though the arm could be cut in two or ripped off given enough force. the heavy mech's blade was flung to the side as two more compartments opened on the front of it's hips, it was aiming to fire anchors into it's enemy as whatever was behind Bardiel was whining as energy was built up.

Matariel wasn't trying to find out who was behind the mech, though she did store the information she managed to gather away. She almost had it deciphered well enough to transmit the Witch's machine's thoughts and maneuvers directly to Bardiel, giving it the priceless benefit of battlefield premonition.

The boosters on the back of the machine flicked open, fanning out into three separate sections. They did not even finish opening before the thrusters in the feet fired full blast, breaking away from Bardiel. It was putting distance between the combatants, but also moving back into the particle cloud it had formed.
The 'boosters' suddenly began working, only as intakes as the particles were visibly gathering. Obvious to the naked eye. One of the blocks on the back flipped around and locked at the hip, opening up like a tripod at the half way point and beginning to spin as some form of thermal energy was building, arcing between the sections.
----- The amount of information increased as the machine was grounded. Everything within several miles was being displayed in the thoughts of it. But the big annoyance that would come was that as much gibberish as was being filtered through the machine, it seemed to be executing every thought instantly even before all the extra data was processed properly, working on motor control entirely with none of the deeper plans being in the system.
Some data on the particles called them photons, referencing files called photon reactors, but none of the data was being accessed as to explain what made this solid form of light. The data on the weapon however only referenced the words 'Reflex Cannon'
As soon as life forms started being read the data began changing again. Occasional obvious machine viral data sent out in the patterns.

Bardiel canceled the firing of it's anchors and acted quickly. It did something strange, for a mech. After quickly making a number of one-handed seals, it brought all of it's limbs close to it's body and waited as rai began to split the earth underfoot. It was hoping to fire it's own blast before the reflex cannon could fire.
The technology behind the 'cannon' was not dissimilar to reflex cannon technology, though it was a much cruder form. It was, however integrated with a style of ninjutsu, amplifying it's power greatly. This was it. This was the attack that had glassed the forests, and tore holes through entire mountains.
It happened suddenly, with a loud "FWOUNK" sound. A brilliant white light immersed the area, bright enough to blind anyone foolish enough to look directly at it. Trees were disintegrated, as was all the excess armor Bardiel was wearing, though slower than the trees. Out of the sphere of destruction would fire three beams. One aiming to destroy the enemy's cannon, while the other two bent clumsily to chase after the Witch's mech.

Matariel took a break and turned her head away. The Progeny were out of the blast range, but still close enough to see the light, and recieve a nasty whollop from the concussive force.

The blast that left the cannon was larger then the mech, a spiraling drill of reflex energy collided with the other attack. The mech slowly was drifting back, the backlash seemed to all be emitted as heat and returning concussive force.
The smaller mech waited out the other attack before ceasing it's fire. The cannon rotated back into idle-position. It preformed a rapid analysis of Bardiel's remaining armor.

With a brilliant flash of green light before the smoke even cleared, the analyses was rapidly approaching with a grudge and a beam-saber. Bardiel was charred black. It had shed what little was left of the melted armor and left it on the ground, though the same booster systems were intact, now with a much, much lighter frame. It's left arm, especially around the shoulder was heavily damaged, but still functional. Bardiel fired off a couple of popshots with it's flechette gun as it advanced on it's enemy.

Some of the popshots hit, mostly minor armor damage, though two sections of the torso had begun to spark.
The machine pulled it's beam saber out of the shoulder. Out of the casing the saber was very obviously double bladed, though only one end was active. The mech rushed forward to saber lock with Bardiel.

Bardiel continued to fire the flechette gun at the opposing machine, aiming for its middle. A short flare of boosters and hydraulic whine accompanied the mech's short hop backward and slightly off the line of attack, as the Witch's mech's advance brought Bardiel's target into range. Bardiel slashed down, not at the machine, but at the weapon, hoping to sever its handle and, so, n** it in the bud. Even if the attack failed, it left Bardiel guarded.

The mech moved it's other arm, raising it's energy shield arm to deflect the flechette.
The saber was cut in half, the active half remained operating however. As the second half fell the shield arm caught the other half and activated it. The lower section was disrupted, but it flicked in and out of activity, slowly twisting into Bardiel's torso, going through the shield as they operated on identical frequencies.

Hurriedly, Bardiel shifted out of the way, spinning on its axis. It could not escape a fairly sizable nick on its side, however, that might have been a calculated loss. Bardiel came to rest side-by-side with the opposing machine and blasted the remainder of a flechette clip right where a human's ear would be.
