Bring an umbrella I'm sure it's been said but It does rain every year durring Otakon.

asian food market... we don't have one any more so that means the only place to get any in my area is suncoast ( overpriced) and wait thats all ._.

make sure you have saftypins in that sewing kit :3 because it's faster than sewing when in a rush.

the best places to find food are all located at the innerharbor there is a nice foodcourt and a very nice japanese restrant too *doesn't trust fastfood places*

oh and special for this year Obey the signage in BCC! if a few people mess up and do soemthing stupid all of the congoers for the next year will suffer. it's because of people fo do stupid/rude things that every year we get another rule. [/rant]

If you see a really rare item that you MUST have in the dealer's room, grab it immediately. Someone else is probably looking for the same thing.

That said, if it's something that's easy to get elsewhere, then wait until Sunday. True, they may be sold out of it by then, but most dealers are looking to empty their shelves so that they don't have to cart much stuff back, resulting in several great deals for those who stop in! Remember to try to haggle with them on Sunday as well, they may be willing to give you an inch or two. Worst comes to worst, you still get it for the already discounted price.

You should always bring

Bandaids
Scissors
Pen/pencil
Paper
A stiff folder
Nuts or a quick, healthy protein snack and

Duct Tape. At least one person in your group should bring a backpack loaded with this gear, but not every person needs to bring their own supply. I found all of these things useful at this con, although you might not want to bring all of the roll of duct tape.

A trick with carrying the duct tape. if you fold it flat and keep it tied flat with a zip tie or otherwise it'll stay flat and make the roll much easier to carry. Take it from me, with that method, you can carry 2 rolls of tape in the space it takes to carry one and you can easily slip the roll in a back pocket or bag.

Video Cameras? I know you can have cameras and people have video inside, but it sucks most of the time when I upload it. I've been reading over some of the FAQ on the Otakon website but I can't seem to find it and if it's there I am blind. O_O So are they allowed to be taken? Not allowed to be in some areas? question

And another thing, you said hugging signs are ok? But when I read the newbies guide(I think it was in there) they said they are not. I'm confused, are they or aren't they? O_o

Sorry if these questions are bothering you heh, it's just my first con and I'm truying to make a booklet for my friends when we go next year.

Anything on the Otakon site is the final word for everything. Hugging signs are no longer allowed as they are considered "solicitation". No signs except for those of an established cosplay character (i.e. Genma the Panda) are allowed.

As for video cameras, they are allowed in most of the con, however some events allow no cameras at all.

You pick up your badge at the con. You can either get it thursday night, or friday morning, assuming you pre-register.

As for hotel prices, that all depends on the hotel, but I believe that what's on the page is for 1 night each. Though your best bet would be to call the hotel and ask.

Yes I am back again with one last question, though it is not mines, but a friends.

If you don't have an ID and can't find a place anywhere to get one, what do you do?
Also she asked if she could make her own but I don't think that it's allowed >_>

Making your own is not allowed, however you should be able to get one from the local MVA. You can get a state issued ID from them, or at least should be able to.

Doesn't your friend have anything that has a picture, age and a legit name? That'll do just as good as anything else.

You don't even need an age on it. I've used a school id before and that only had my face and name on it.

It's good to have one if you're over 18 though just in case you feel the urge to buy things or get into places that those under 18 can't get/get into.
