Kyla looked a little closer to see Silas.
"Oh, it's you. Hello Silas." She sad, breathing a sigh of relief.
Ever since her attack, she's been jumpy. It was a very long time ago, but it still made her nervous. She got the courage to finally look at him. She noticed the blood dripping from his lip. She giggled to herself and walked over to him, wiping the blood off his lip.
"You had something on your lip." She told him. Kyla smiled at him, gave a quick bow in respect and began to walk away, in search for something to do...

Silas blushed slightly. "Uh, thanks!" he replied as Kyla wiped some blood from his lip. "Hey, you want to walk around with me?" he called after her. Silas was not quite sure what to do with himself and it seemed Kyla was at a loss for her time as well. 'Might as well be bored together,' he thought to himself.

"Hey, you want to walk around with me?"
Kyla turned to Silas and smiled.
"I'd love to." She said back in reply, blushing.
'What else am I going to do? It should be fun as well.' She thought to herself. She walked up next to him, and thought of something to say to start conversation. Silas always seemed to leave her at a loss for words.
'What do I say...?' They began walking through town together, each waiting for the other to say something...

"So..." Silas started but never seemed to be able to attach a following statement or question. He just walked by Kyla awkwardly. Several minutes of stiff silence went by before Silas managed to say, "Would you like to go to go to a little cafe? I work at one that's pretty decent."

He was unsure of what to do. Human food was only good in small quantities to him. He lost the taste for much of it; none of the food which he enjoyed still was at the cafe. He really only enjoyed bloody meats, but even those were less tasty than humans.

His mouth watered at the thought of humans. Every vampire was a little different, but he could not help his powerful liking of humans. For him, the blood of children of the same blood type were best. He generally refrained from them though.

Kyla smiled, grateful to Silas for saying something.
"Sure, thats sounds good."
A breeze blew through and Kyla adjusted her scarf. Many vampires told her she shouldnt get cold, but she did. She was one of the only ones who bundled up during this time of year. She walked next to Silas in a slightly more comfortable silence. She looked at him for a moment. She wondered about what ran through his head. He was nothing but a mystery to her...
'I do enjoy mysteries....' She thought to herself lazily, having flight of ideas.

She didn't have a high thirst for human blood, ad she tried mostly for animals and smaller things. She even ate human food still, even though it didn't really satisfy her.

The head secretary (they have a head for everything here) was scratching notes busily on her clipboard when Felincia tapped on her desk. "I'd like to apply for an acceptance slip, please."
The secretary looked cynically over her glasses at Felincia. The last time Felincia had gotten an acceptance slip, it was to become a chemist for the Keepers. "What application?"
"Werewolf hunter."
Two eyebrows went up. "Really. And the grounds of this request?"
Felincia sighed. Then in a few moments, she had changed herself into a cat. Shaking off the clothes, she leapt onto the desk, licked herself once, and stared hard at the secretary.
The human squawked, almost falling backwards out of her chair. Then she gathered up her papers and handed an acceptance form to Felincia. "Can... can you write with those...?"
Felincia meowed, picked up the form in her mouth, jumped down to the floor, and pawed her clothes toward the girl's restroom. Transforming into a cat was one thing, but transforming into a naked girl required privacy.

Abby had had enough of the sadness that hung around the Black mansion. She put on her shabbiest dress and a pair of her most lack luster shoes. She pulled on some ripped little gloves that she had cut the fingers off of and a scarf. To finish it all off, she pulled on a little bus-boy cap and walked out the door. She looked like a little homeless person. She could blend in with the street people that really were from the street.

She walked into one of the alleyways and past a few homeless people who were sleeping in piles of rags. She walked over to one of the trash cans. It reminded her greatly of her time in Russia just after their revolution. Children had run wild in bands together.

She moved the can aside to find a little stray calico cat behind it. "Hey there pretty," she bent down and began to pet it. Despite her being a werewolf, she loved cats. They were smarter than other common animals. They were far more independent than dogs were, more interesting than fish, and quieter than birds were.

While Felincia was waiting for the Keeper Heads to approve her form, she went back to her lab. Keeper scouts had found her tracing device – unfortunately, it had fallen off not a mile outside of town. This confirmed that their hideout was outside of the town borders, but didn't do much else.
The first thing Felincia did was plug the device into her computer and replay what it had recorded. The werewolf it was attached to had walked back to their hideout with another werewolf, and they talked a small bit on the way about the "little miss" (their leader?) and the "mansion".
Well, nothing they hadn't heard before.
The next thing Felincia did was lay the device on one of her lab tables and inspect it. To her pleasure, there was a tuft of fur still attached to it. The device must have pulled a loose bit of fur off before the werewolf had transformed. She carefully collected the fur and placed it in a tight ziploc bag.
Jesute came in with her lunch around one to find that she had separated a single strand of fur and was dissolving it - in the solution she had used to dissolve cat hair during her previous experiments. "What's up?"
"Werewolves can transform into werewolves whilst still being clothed," Felincia muttered, "and they can speak human tongues while as a wolf, correct?"
"Yeah..."
"When I transform, I turn into a cat, but my clothes stay the same. And I can't speak any language but cat."
"Can you understand cat? If another cat was talking to you, for example?"
"Actually, yes, but that's besides my point. What I'm doing now is finding the protein - or the DNA code that creates that protein - that allows for the werewolf qualities. Then, if I can convert it to a cat-human compatible form, I will be able to turn myself successfully into a werecat."
"Meaning you'll be able to speak human and keep your clothes on."
"You have no idea what a blessing that would be. To keep my clothes on, I mean."

Abby had been walking through the alleyways for over an hour now. She had found sixteen cats. Three of them were following her. She had shooed them all several times now. They just liked her.

She went into a coffee shop and the person who was wiping the counter gave her a funny look. She ordered herself a drink and the man looked at her funny. "Steal the money for this drink I s'pose."

"No," she replied, "I'm actually a werewolf and own that big mansion out of town. I'm just dressed up like this." She took a sip of her rink and left the shop. 'I told you the truth,' she thought to herself remembering the surprised look on the worker's face. He thought she was crazy.

The acceptance form had come back completed, and had even honored Felincia with an additional comment: "If this works, you will be a Keeper Lab Head. If this fails, we'll pay for your funeral."
'Jeesh, have a little faith here.'
She filed the form in her binder and injected a werewolf protein she had found into one of her mini-cats. Then, to test her cattiness, she transformed and went to prowl in the streets.
She had found that the more she practiced transforming, the quicker and easier it happened. Not a surprise.
A brown tabby meowed a greeting at her.
"Hey there, fine stuff. You new?"
Felincia realized she must be regarded as an attractive cat. The tabby's body language said as much. She gave a flattered reply. "New as a kitten. Care to show me around?"
The tabby stretched, shook, and purred, "Would love to. Come along, silken."
Felincia purred at the compliment, and flounced off with her new friend.

Abby walked into another side street and found a brown tabby with another cat that had bright blue eyes. "Why hello there," she said as she crouched in front of them. She reached a hand out to pet the tabby. He purred vigorously. Abby could not her it, but she could eel it, even with her numb fingers. She had seen the tabby a few times before, but never the other cat.

"And who are you?" she asked as she set her still steaming drink down. She sat on her knees and the tabby rubbed his head against her leg. "Does your friend have a name?" she asked the tabby. She named a lot of the cats. She the brown tabby Jerry. He was the same color as the mouse from Tom & Jerry.

Felincia, in her cat-like state, immensely enjoyed the attention she was receiving from this girl. With her human mind, however, she decided evaluated the child. Nine? Certainly no more than eleven, if that. Possibly twelve... The more she thought about it, the older she seemed. 'Hang on...'
She realized, as the girl rubbed her ears, that her human evaluation was clashing with her cat's instincts. She struggled to separate them. Human sense said nine or ten. Cat's instinct said much, much older...

"Do you know her?" she asked her fellow cat.
He purred as he rubbed his whiskers against the girl's knee.
"Sure I do. She likes us cats. She says she walks through these prowls" - prowls meant streets - "when she's stressed. Likes us, she does. Sometimes, I think she comes down to escape from the dogs."
"Dogs?"
"Yeah, she stinks of dogs."

Felincia sniffed the girl. Yes, she did smell of dogs. Wild, big dogs.
Felincia shifted to her human senses. That drink was a hot drink, but she was dressed like a street scamp. Stranger still, she spoke with an education and - slipping back into cat sense - walked with the stride of a healthy, well-fed person.
Felincia purred louder and meowed at the girl to keep rubbing her ears. Yes, she was certainly staying with this girl for a while.

"If you follow me I'll give you each a bowl of milk. No cat food at the house though, The others don't really like cats," she scrunched up her face, "but if you stay in the study, nobody will disturb you."

Abby could not understand why others disliked cat. Back when she was a real human, she had several cats. They caught mice around the mansion. Now there were poisons and traps you could set. Abby still preferred cats though. Cats could think and chase the mice.

"Follow me. But you have to stick close by. I can't hear you if you go off somewhere," she told the cats with a little smile.

Ah, so she was deaf. Even though any human could have said that, Felincia quickly picked this up both from Jerry's reconfirming meow and her own mediocre observation. The way the girl walked, how her eyes were always flitting and her feet so sensitive to vibrations.
Felincia loved being a cat.
When the girl offered to take them to her home, she almost whooped with delight. But cats are too proud to do that, so she settled for a soft 'mew' and trotted in her footsteps.

[[Get ready for my Godzilla post]]

Abby made her way back to the mansion, a little ways east of the city, and opened the front door. She let the cats in first and ushered them up to her room. Jerry jumped up onto her bed, obviously happy to be inside someplace warm. Abby gave a little laugh hat him.

She took out some clothes and went behind a screen she had in her room. It was very convenient. Although cats were just cats, she still felt like she wanted privacy from them. She came out with an outfit similar to her usual one. It was a skirt and tights and a T-shirt. It left the long scar on her arm exposed however.

"Next stop, the kitchen," she told them. She put on a pair of long gloves that left her fingers free, but helped cover up her arms. She put out a bowl for each of them and filled them with milk.

"Miss Abigail?" a voice called into the kitchen. "Miss Abigail, what are you doing with cats in here?" the big red haired man asked. "Nobody here likes cats," he said grabbing Jerry by his neck scruff.

"I like them!" she told him definitively. "Besides, they are not going to be here forever. Just for a little while. I'll keep them in the study," she pleaded. "Besides! I'm the leader," he gave her a look of 'whining child' and she gave him Bambi eyes. "It's just for a little while."

"Fine, just keep them out if the rest f the house," he said and left the kitchen with a bottle of fake beer. He made a disgusted face at the cats before he pushed out the swinging door.

She picked up the bowls of milk and carried them down a hall tucked behind the stairs. The cats followed her into the room. It was spacious and the furniture was leather. It had two large book cases that were filled top to bottom with books.

She set the milk bowls behind the desk and got herself into the leather chair that as far too large for her. There was no computer in this room and the only lights were one overhead that gave the whole room a dim candlelit light and one on the desk that lit up the binders from the first raid. She spent only a minute getting a fire into the fireplace.

"Did you guys know that Keepers, people that try and kill my family and I,
were doing experiments with you? On mice of all things. How do you feel about that Jerry? she asked as she looked up from a binder she had moved to her lap. "They are trying to make spies, it seems, to get in here. But I know they can think of something better," she told them.
