((I'd be rather surprised if you didn't. Unless... Lorika's an a**-kickah! 9*A*)/
But to make more use of this OOC, there's something I'd like to ask about the diceroll; particularly when it lands on 3 or 4. It says there that "the move is successful up to some extent". How exactly does that work? Like with that stabbage from earlier, for example.))
Coline's ears soaked the information fed to her, her body motionless while her eyes followed the dagger in the Captain's hand. He eventually took a step back and placed the blade back in its sheath, but she remained cautious. Taking one last good look at the blade in his waistband, Coline shifted her eyes to meet his, her expression firm. "...Yes."

Lorika rolled 1 6-sided dice:
1
Total: 1 (1-6)

(( Let's say you'd rolled a 3 or 4 then.. in that situation, where the dagger was coming at you, you wouldve perhaps jumped back and grabbed but stumbled and ended up on the ground, pulling the Captain down with you. Rofl. So you technically half-did the move, but didnt succeed at all XD )) The Underworld is a merciless place... "Good. Then we may move on to the next level up..."
Turning from her and striding a few paces away, the click of metal was audible on the morning breeze.
When he turned back towards her, Coline found herself staring down the barrel of a golden buccaneer's pistol - the trigger set. No safety.
The Captain continued to speak in a quiet tone only audible to her. "Disarming an opponent with a gun is both similar and different to disarming one with a dagger. The natural instinct is to turn and run from a weapon of such destructive power. However, you must remember your basic training. Melee weapons are only effective in melee combat. Therefore it is required that you keep your distance. Similarly, ranged weapons are only truly effective in ranged combat - so you must close the gap."
Another click. "Close the gap, Coline. Push my arm upwards and away from you. Put me in a choke hold, flip me, pin me - it matters not. Get the gun away from your face, and the rest will come naturally."
He took aim.
[Signature Strike]
...Which breeds many a merciless creature. (( Just so you know, the gun isn't really loaded. I mean, your character doesnt know that, but don't go getting shot XD The Captain doesnt go around shooting prominent recruits! ))

((Ah, so it's like... doing it right, but not very beautifully? xD And LMAOOOO!! Looks like I picked the right time to stay up late. Lady Luck's on Coline's side today. *U*)9))
Coline's eyes remained glued to his form as he turned away. The Captain had that certain air of danger about him that she couldn't help but be wary. This was a disarming exercise; he was armed, she was not. His earlier display with the dagger was enough to convince her that he didn't have any intention of holding back.
And she wouldn't have it any other way.
She shifted into an immediate stance upon hearing an ominous click. Considering what they had been doing, that could only mean one thing. The Captain turned to her. She was right; it was a gun.
Feeling her heart race again as the Captain explained, her eyes staring straight into the gun's barrel. This was different from before, there was much less time to think! And then came the second click. She had to move.
THUMP THUMP
There it was again, that weird sensation from before. Although now it felt more... natural, for some reason. Coline repeated the Captain's words in her mind as she sprinted towards him. Close the gap... Taking hold of his arm, she forced it upward, lunging towards him. Get the gun away... Toppling him over, Coline slammed his arm onto the ground upon impact, pushing the back of her free arm up his neck. ...the rest will come naturally.
And then it ended. She hovered over the Captain, her breathing much more steady now, waiting for any form of response.

The Underworld is a merciless place... Jessie grunted with shock. Not a very natural sound for a drow. He felt his hand release its hold on the weapon; the gun slid out of his hand and thumped dully to the ground.
A second later, he choked as the girl's arm found his throat, pressing down on his larynx painfully. Before the adrenalin could fully take hold, however, the pressure released. He opened his eye, and met Coline's: she looked wide-eyed, and was breathing heavily. But still, she was poised. He got the feeling that if he moved now, she may leap for his throat again. What it was that gave him that impression, he wasn't quite sure.
"... That was excellent. Well done."
How such complimentary words could be uttered through such a deep scowl beggars belief!
Trying to move, he realised that he was in fact pinned quite firmly to the ground - very firmly. For a small thing, she really packed a punch. He could easily get her off him if he tried, but he didn't really want to go injuring such a promising student so early in her training.
"May I get up now, please?"

Sta got up off her butt, dusted herself off, and started running again. She jumped on the first rock, then the second, then another. But then her pile of rocks shifted and she fell off, landing right on her butt again. "Okay, maybe I should start with something more stable..." She looked towards the ruined wall. Its top was quite uneven but it didn't look like it would collapse under her weight. She tried to jump onto the lowest point of the wall, about a foot off the ground. She managed to land. She ran along the wall, jumping wherever it was higher. But there was a point where the wall turned and it went from three feet high to six feet high. She wasn't sure if she could jump three feet.
[OOC: Okay, so all the stuff with Nico didn't happen to Sta... I believe that after what happened with Nico, I need to apologize for playing along. I was only doing what I thought worked for the RP and Nico made it pretty fun. I actually thought he was being adorable. sweatdrop Nothing wrong with a little fun while training, right?]

And it's no problem! Maybe I was a little harsh on him. But he's behaving himself a lot better now. =) So maybe it was all for the better...? ))

Sta sees the Captain nearby. "Oh god... better give this a shot..." She stares at the wall. And she jumps. She rises one foot, two feet, two and a half feet... and then falls five and a half feet to the ground. Thankfully, the soft sand kept her from getting injured. But it still hurt. Sta mutters some things you wouldn't want your kids to hear while getting up.
[OOC: Oh, that's alright. Happens all the time. D: I dunno... relevant fun next time though, eh? Not just the random antics of a childlike character. (Which I still must say I appreciated since this place was kinda dead last night) Maybe we should have a playground of sorts where we can mess around.]

"Ah... yes, of course." Coline answered, releasing her hold on his arm and neck as she lifted herself off of him. Taking a step back she dusted the sand off her knees and smiled to herself, a sight uncommon to most people. It always made her happy knowing she'd done a job well done, especially if the news came from the Captain himself whom she looked up to for being such a capable warrior.
She took a deep breath and straightened herself, awaiting her superior's next orders. Though that sudden... outburst... from one of her fellow recruits not too far away may have distracted her momentarily.

/wah but Bakar is a little kid xD Should Bakar not be a little kid..? =X Bakar sneaks into the training grounds to watch the combatants train for battle, conjuring some food to make observing a little less lonely
[Conjure Food]
Also, is it OK for me to post in here, seeing as how I'm not a combatant..? As it has been noted, there's nothing going on in the spellcaster thread =X

The Underworld is a merciless place... Jessie got to his feet in one inhumanly fluid movement. He appraised her as he had at the beginning - with a burning intensity in his single, ruby red eye. He had respected her then. He respected her now. There was no resentment in him for being floored by a woman - the society of his birth is one in which females are the superior sex, of course - but, as when on the ground, he felt a slight tinge of annoyance at having been floored by a child.
However, as he glided a few yards back into his original position, he felt a new emotion: pride. The girl was learning. She was learning much faster than any of the lazy dullards she called peers. Except, perhaps, that Sta girl, who he could see still doggedly hopping from rock to rock out of the corner of his eye. She obviously was not the most naturally talented, from what he had seen. She was, however, one of the hardest workers.
Coline, on the other hand, comprised both of these traits in abundance - talent and determination. Though it seemed she didn't even realise it.
"Right... well. It seems there's only one last basic technique I have to teach you. I ordered you to be weaponless and outmatched for a reason. Let's see how you fare in a completely different game."
With that, he strode past her, robes gently brushing against her as he went. Passing so closely to a person was an intimidatory tactic he'd picked up as a captain on his first ship, and never quite managed to drop. He retrieved his sword - a giant, lethal block of sharpened metal several feet in length - from behind the wall, and then made his way back to her, speaking as he went.
"Tell me, how do you think you would begin to grapple with a weapon of this size? "
...Which breeds many a merciless creature. (( LOLOLOLOLOLOL *giggles like a schoolgirl!* ))

Sta sighs as she sits against the wall, taking a short break. She drinks some water. "Well. I guess I really am this dependent on technology..." She gets up after a minute or so and climbs up the wall. She tightens her hair tie and continues trying. She reaches the corner. "I won't fall for this twice" she says, wincing at the bad pun. She backs off a bit and has a running start. Two feet... three feet... she made it, but just barely. Her landing was terrible. She rights herself just before she falls off.

The Underworld is a merciless place... The Captain heard an outcry to his left, and turned his head to see Sta tumbling around on top of the wall. Annoyed at the interruption, he called out "I'll give you one piece of advice - centre yourself."
Cryptic, but if she wanted to improve she'd need to learn that a warrior without focus is like a one-legged donkey: ungainly, unappealing, and inclined to totter and break its neck at the slightest provocation.

Just when she thought she had seen everything, he brings out this. With a weapon that massive... he couldn't really be expecting her to have at him barehanded, could he? "I... can't even begin to imagine how I can put my hands around it." Coline answered, furrowing her brow in thought. "Unless perhaps... You will grant me back my weapon?"
