"It's fine." He let her position herself as she wished, focusing mostly on keeping his hands still where they were - he did not seem to be hurting her, and it always was much simpler to let Raven in full control of things when they got up close and personal. "Your mother... Is she... ?" It suddenly occurred to him. He had heard voices from the attic, but had not really paid attention to them.

Nodding, Raven glanced back towards the hall, and the open door to her father's room that allowed light to stream out into the rest of the upstairs. "She's okay... I mean, it doesn't look like she had anything happen to her. I think she's in shock. She was calling Emergency and I had to leave the room. I couldn't stay in there any longer."

The blonde nodded again, once more at lost as to what to say for a moment, so... he found something else. "Omi's asleep." He informed her. "I... think she's gonna be fine...." But then, it occurred to him that maybe Raven was not aware of certain things. It gave him something to cling to, other than just wanting to scream and never stop. "Without a guardian, a fa'e... fades. I've never seen it happen, but... I assume they call it fading for a reason. If anything looks off... I want you to call me. I don't care what time it is. But... She seems to be recovering."

And now, as far as he knew, Raven was the one who would be at risk if something like this happened again. "...Im sorry." He said again, but seemed to forget to elaborate the why.

"Thank you for watching over her," Raven said, nodding as he explained. "I don't know if what you were trying to describe happened or not. But I'm not leaving her alone anytime soon. She's too much of a mess right now... and Kaeru can't take care of her, he's just a teenager." Gods, this really was happening, wasn't it?

"Maybe I should move back in here. They'll need someone."

"Yeah..." He did not want to believe this was happening, either. All of it, but... especially this. Nothing he seemed to think up seemed to be right - he could not find the magical words that would make everything better.

But then... he was probably trying to find something that did not exist.

"Ill help you move your stuff if you need, but... I need to make sense of all this s**t first. Later."

He would not leave, not yet.

Couldn't bring himself to.

"This is just too much to think about right now," Raven said, half regretting that her mind had ever started down that particular path... because then she'd have to figure out finances, moving, Ken's finances, and a bunch of other crap she really didn't want to have running around in her mind at the moment. She was content to just stay resting against him for right now, Sei seeming to be some kind of rock in the storm. Maybe it was because he couldn't cry... because Raven was pretty certain that if someone else around her started, that she'd melt down again.

"I understand." He kind of wanted to latch onto this, to keep his mind buzzing away in order to take it away from the pain and weariness he felt, but... he could not force it. Not on her. Even if that seemed to leave him at a loss for words again.

And so he said nothing else, and only stood there, allowing her to cling to him like a lifeline... though he did not feel like one. Far from it.

By the time the sun began to rise, Raven had managed to calm herself down and began to think rationally again. Karma's call had brought emergency crews to the house. They had asked questions... so many questions, she felt her head would spin. They had spoken to Omi as best they could, as she was the only one who had been in the house when all this had taken place. She couldn't watch when they wheeled the gurney out of the house, the sealed bag riding atop it. There was no way she could watch, knowing that her father was in that bag.

Finally, she sat on the front steps, a cup of coffee held in both hands as she huddled there, just observing the way the clouds moved across the sky. "He loved doing this," she murmured to Sei, trying to smile. "When we were all in school, he'd get us out the door in the morning, and when the bus would pull away, he'd be sitting here, with his coffee, waving to us as we went."

"I can see why." Sei sat beside her, leaning against the door as he looked upward. The sky was a bright blue, with white, fluffy clouds that passed though lazily overhead.

In no way fitting the situation at hand.

"When I was younger... I didn't understand simple things like this." He admitted, trying to keep his mind down a safer track than the feelings that were still vivid inside of him. "Why others thought the sky was beautiful. All kind of little things. I was born knowing how to read... how to count... I don't remember not knowing of these things... and I thought I knew everything there was to know." He paused for a moment, letting his eyes fall closed.

"...But I didn't, far from it. What I know now... These things, called feeling... emotion... I've always had them, in this life, but at first I did not want them. I was scared of them. They're... both a gift, and a curse."

"They really are," she agreed, glancing to him as she reached to clasp one hand lightly. "There are times when I would give anything to be able to just turn them off... to not feel anything. But then I realise that if that happened, I wouldn't feel any of the GOOD things either." She leaned in then, kissing Sei's cheek softly.

"Thank you," Raven murmured, resting her head against his shoulder as she went back to watching the sky. "For being here. I don't think I could have gotten through this without you." It wasn't over yet... not by a longshot. There was still so much to do.

"You wouldn't want to." He answered, all too quickly for it to have been guesswork. "That, too, is a gift and a curse. Whenever things like this happen... When something hurts me... or scares me... I..." He did not want to admit it. Not to her.

But her, more than anyone else... needed to know.

"I just want to shut down and... let it all fade away. I... actually did, before I came here. But I... I don't want you to see me like that. It's... the only thing that made me... flip the switch back to on, so to speak."

Raven sighed, looking to him and nodding softly. "I understand," she murmured. "And just so you know? It's not like I didn't know what you were before I decided that I liked you. That's a part of you, and I'll never ask you to change."

"I know. It's just that it is not something I should allow myself to do, even if I have the power to do so at my fingertips. It... doesn't help me at all." And, well, he still did not want her to see him while he was like that. He certainly was not self-concious while doing it, but while not... was a different matter. "I can't just... run away from everything I don't like, so to speak."

He should know better, after what happened.

"None of us can." Although she did sorely wish she could. "Would be nice... but like you said, it won't solve anything." Raven sipped from the cup, a myriad of thoughts rushing through her mind. What was going to happen to Omi? Or Kaeru? What about the house? Finances? She had no idea how to run a household, but she was likely the only one that could at the moment.

He let his eyes open again, staring at the sky for a few seconds before looking at her again. He was not an empath like his mother, and could not read minds, but he needed neither to have a loose idea of what the look on the foxcoon's mind meant. "Ill do my best. Ill help in any way I can... Zero too, most likely." He had no idea how to run a household, but Zero... Zero did.
