Yea, I mean last minute is just a problem for me because I don't really own costume stuff. Dib is usually the easiest thing for me to do character wise because I had black sunglasses to punch the frames out of, I got his t-shirt as a birthday present a long time ago, and I own jeans and black boots, the trench coat was something I wanted as part of my wardrobe rather than just for a costume. My wardrobe is pretty much work clothes (so nice sweaters and blouses and slacks and stuff) or jeans and t-shirts. It is a rule of anime for characters to dress in a fashion that no living person would dare leave the house in, not well suited for my wardrobe - plus doing simple cosplays (like Dib, Kyou or L) makes it such a fail to not finish them.

LMAO it must be a rule, because a lot of them do it. And a lot of their outfits don't work with gravity!

Right?!?
I compiled this list awhile back, most I made up myself just picking on ridiculous things from my favorite series. However the YGO one I stole from elsewhere (it was too good, I could think of tons others of course, but nothing I liked better) as well as the hair thing at the end. Of course those are the best ones, mine are kinda lame, but cheers anyhow, hehe:
What I've learned from anime/manga:
YGO - if I’m going to lose threaten suicide
Fruba - a ******** up family justifies incest
Death Note - stalking is ok if you eat cake while doing it
Loveless - if you’re pretty with a tragic past it's ok to be a ***** - only children can uncover government conspiracies, thus more kids should join the army
Fake - cops solve more crimes when they are trying to screw each other
Ouran - teenage boys will fight over the weird girl that cross dresses
Chrono - demons are not as fearsome as children
Inuyasha - HS is so terrible that using a magic well to reach homicidal demons seems like fun.
Pokemon - it’s ok to stalk kids for their pets
Gravitation - common interests aren’t required to have sex
and of course almost every series I've ever encountered has given me unrealistic expectations about hair.

Yea, and it's also probably the one that's true outside of the anime world as well.
That and HS being worse than a world of demons ^_~.

Hahaha, it isn't, therein lies the joke (or sad sad view of reality). Actually I rather liked HS, but I understand why most people don't. And my enjoyment came via extracurricular, without things like the nationally acclaimed Band - particularly our Marching Band (who worked in conjunction with a national champion Color Guard) but also our concert bands HS would have been dull indeed. I also had swim team, and that team wasn't very good but I had fun. Both of these extended beyond the primary functions of school, to the point of being "life" - and as they were good, enjoyable life experienes it made high school a pretty fond memory for me.

lol eh who cares about reality, I like I my imagination way more! I actually enjoyed HS I got to met a lot of my good friends. Worst relationship but lead to a great one so I wouldn't take it back...Too bad I can hardly remember hs XD I just remember laughing and having a good time in art club. Other then that I didn't do much else...I wanted to try out for color guard but I was too shy... But you sound like you did a lot 0-0

@JK: Still wanna see con pics!
@Karma: You so did not do yours last minute this time! XD You had so much time to prepare, and I remember you working on it like a month in advance. I didn't even know I was going until two weeks before the con... and I'm totally good planning and designing the Boo costume as long as you help me make it. XD
@JK: Did they actually market Dib shirts? o.o That's so awesome. I totally made mine all cheap-like. XD And that list... heheh, so true. Especially like the Fake, Ouran, and Pokemon ones. XD
@Both: High school was kind of bittersweet for me... like most things about it were either really good or really bad. Half my teachers were awesome, half were awful. Totally stressed out with class, but it's also when I met my first real group of friends. Lots of drama, but lots of fun, and it was nice with everyone living close to each other. Hated how there were so many rules and teachers would treat you like little kids, and hated assemblies. And then senior year was really nothing but depressing, because all my friends graduated before me and I was stuck with these two little J-Rock obsesees who wouldn't stop talking to me in Art...

@Karma - that's good, yea I woulda been awful at color guard. I'd KILL (well, practically) to be graceful and poised and dexterous - but alas, I SO am not. So band it was! (since I also can't sing ^_~)
@Kits - ok ok, I have to clean my room before I do any of that. And as the guild has been all active tonight and I haven't gotten up from my computer that has yet to happen. So I'll say I'll get 2008 (remember, these will be '08, I sadly have no '09 pics) pics up by Wed. That'll be the goal ok? I will aim for sooner but I will swear on the holiness that is TAS that I'll do it by Wed (remind me Tues FYI if I haven't done it by then ~_~).
Glad you also like the list...and yea I think the shirt came from Hot Topic (was a birthday present so I'm not 100% sure, I think that's where she got it though). I have no idea the range of Hot Topic, they have those in AZ don't they? It seems unnatural for me for there not to be HT everywhere, but maybe it isn't...it does have a website though. However this was 3 years or so I think, not sure if you could still find it, through HT anyhow.
Yea, that's why I think if I hadn't had all that extra stuff I wouldn't have loved HS so much. And yes, drama galore - I told you about my friends. However I fell in love with them so what can I do, I wouldn't change a thing, not even the heartache, it made us who we are today, and I think we are at least a little bit awesome...^_^. Also, the one teacher I crushed on in HS, SO cute, he was my Econ teacher senior year 2nd semester (so kinda good that I left school after I got out of his class - didn't need to be drooling from afar). Anyhow at homecoming this year they elected a king and queen teacher as well, and he was the king. Of course! He's still so cute, he has this great smile (and is always smiling) and man I love his hair *pets*...ok ends creepy teacher crush spiel.
But yea, assemblies were lame, but kind of funny to mock. And I had some cool teachers who'd let us just stay in class and play cards. Rules and being treated like children weren't a problem, the school was just too big - so effort really had to be focused enforcing the wicked (ok the less disciplined) children, us good ones were pretty much left alone. I remember cutting APS all the time senior year, we'd go to Starbucks and chill with our counselors (helps that being in band we knew these people intimately, they were our second parents). Later I'd see the teacher of that class on campus and he'd just be like "hey, sup?" Didn't care I hadn't attended. And why should he, I STILL had the highest grade in his class...^_^.
Ok yea, I really loved my school...sorry!! At least you aren't being stocked by J-rock wannabes anymore Kits!

@JK: I didn't like the skirts they made you wear, I'm so worried about my leg showing xD they will blind you...Oh I was in choir until I hit..That point>> cough anyways lets just say I snapped, thankfully my friends didn't see it XD I regret not accepting that letter to return >> now my voice cracks...

@Karma - oh our guard I don't think ever wore skirts. First of all they didn't have a uniform, they had unique costumes for every show. So that would be at least 2 a year - the marching show costume, and then competition costume. And I don't recall ever seeing any costume that was a skirt - if that was the case it was rarely. We recognize that it's cold in the bay in fall, not exactly freezing, but still all the marching show guard outfits have been pants (nice stretchy good to dance in material, but pants). I don't recall ever seeing any of their guard competition costumes as being skirts either. I also think as at least 20 or so of the Color Guard members are also always male it's easier to just go with something more unisex. Though this year they have different uniforms - I saw their show at homecoming, it's Where the Wild Things Are themed. The guys are in something similar to the costume that the boy wears, with the hood and all. The girls have something different, not sure what it is to the theme, but it's pants for them as well.
So boo uniform. Haha. I was in choir until 6th (I was at a K - 6 elementary and they didn't make you pick there), when I transferred districts into a middle school, it would have made you pick - had they not disbanded the choir. I still woulda picked band at that point though. smile

That's it, your school so rocks much more then ours ever did T___T
I enjoyed Choir, learning new languages and such. I was just annoyed because not a lot of people liked choir so the teacher had to let some people into the special thing that I was in, and they ruined it for me. But I traded it in for art, which I love way more. But I still want to go and sing lol thats what cars and showers are for.

Haha, well, I am totally biased, but I think JLHS is AMAZING! It has it's problems, but it really has a lot ot offer - a lot of things I want. So yea, I dunno if it rocks more, but I will admit that it did in fact rock.
Yea, I like singing, just not my talent really (not even close, haha). I stopped singing in the shower in the dorms freshmen year and never picked up the habit again when I moved out, but yea I definitely sing in the car - it keeps me awake (driving makes me sleepy ~_~), especially during the 90 mile drives between Davis (which I still visit now that I'm back in the Bay Area) and Hayward. I also got into PS2 Karaoke games via roommates my last year in Davis, so that's fun too.
Yes I said goodnight on the other thread, but this is gnite for real this time!!!

@JK: I seem to always play dexterous characters in Dungeons and Dragons, yet I'm not at all in real life. XD Just have some weird flexibility of the fingers and tongue. I won't be upset if you don't hold to your goal, but good luck. XD Yes, we have Hot Topics in AZ. I got a "Things I Learned from Video Games" poster there. I never really understood teacher crushes, but then again I didn't really understand crushes at all in high school so... Wow, your school sounds so awesome! D: We only had one teacher that would occasionally let us skip assemblies, and it was really only Karma, me, and a few other friends, because we were so close to him; he was the art teacher and definitely favored us. XD;; He wasn't happy if you skipped class though. They day the PS3 came out, most people didn't come to class and he was pissssed.
@Karma: Oh, I see. XD Well then I guess we were both last minute after all. Yours was amazing though. Maybe you shouldn't call me Ketzicals though... it kind of sounds like testicles. XD;; No, no flunking for you. D: I got over it. And I think we're about even in terms of college right now. ^^;; I'm not even in upper level art classes until next year. I wish I coulda heard you sing in choir... D: (almost put sin in choir, lawl)
@JK: OMG your color guard rocked compared to ours! I think only girls were allowed in it too... I was in choir from fifth (when they started offering it instead of just music) to eight grade. My elementary school was K-8, so I just went with it, since we had to take choir, music, or band, and I hated the other two. It was too tough for me though because I have asthma, and therefore had a difficult time keeping my breath going while singing. XD;;
@Karma: It was weird how many people in choir seemed to hate it... like why'd they take it if they hate it?
@JK: No, your school definitely rocked more than ours. Are you talking about Sing Star, because those games are the s**t. XD
