I'd have to say Kurama (Yu-Yu Hakusho)  Faust VIII (Shaman King) D (vampire hunter D) D (pet Shop of Horrors) Alucard (Hellsing) Captain Harlock Emeraldas (Galaxy Express 999) aaaand Tochiro (Gun Frontier XD) There's a lot more, but oh well.

Wow, thats such a hard question.
I personally go for characters that have really interesting and intricate backstories or characters that just aren't incredibly simple. Or maybe characters that are so simple it's hard to get.
I wouldn't say I have a favorite at the moment but I am a big fan of:
Vash the Stampede - Trigun
Spike - Cowboy Bebop
Ed - Cowboy Bebop
Haruko - Fooly Cooly
The Major - Ghost in the Shell (forgot whatever else she's called)
Can't think of anymore on the spot.

Alucard, Young Walter and Pip are my favorites from Hellsing. I like Hitsugaya and Aizen from Bleach. I like Kyoko, Ren and Yashiro from Skip-Beat(Not technically an anime?), Allen and Lavi from D-Gray Man, Luffy and Zolo from One Piece, Italy and Switzerland from Hetalia....I probably have more, but I really can't think of them right now.... sweatdrop
