He gave her an open smile as he fell to his side. the world swam prettily and her side, with the spider, was the last thing he saw as he passed out.

Ratana woke around the same time he did. She stretched lazily before padding out of her subcave and into the one he was sleeping in. "How is your head?" she asked, keeping her voice soft.
