"...Yeah, we might can do that. I'm surprised there weren't any freight vehicles out behind those businesses..." Peter says, as they sneak their way across the lot. He looks over the hovercars, wondering which would be best, when he finds a van.
"I think we'd be best off going with that one. The way you've been changing size, you might get noticable or unable to fit in a normal car," he says, before realizing how odd it is to say something like that.
Brushing it off, he wonders, "Now, where do they keep those keys...? Or shall we try something more forceful?"

"People don't change size," the ebony woman started. However, her statement didn't sound nearly as believable as she had wished it to be. "If that was the case, tripling my size would easily allow me to carry you off on foot faster and in more places than this vehicle could. Come on, giants don't exist... do they?"
Pulling on the car door, the handle broke in her hand. "Everything is so fragile around here."

Peter sighed. "Remember how you couldn't have probably budged that door handle at first? I mean, I know we'd just gotten out of stasis, but I don't think the progress you made is quite right..."
Turning a bit red, he adds, "And you know other things have happened too. But we can talk about this later. Let's get in this car!"
The handle had left the locking mechanism exposed, and with a little work with a dropped pen he found nearby, he managed to unlock it. Looking inside, he wonders how to start to car when suddenly a siren blares nearby.

"Well, we're in here. What are you waiting for?" she asked, tossing the gear in the back of the car. "I don't think that siren is a good sign."

((Writer's block is the DEVIL! RAWR!))
"I'm trying to figure out how to start this thing! I mean, I don't even see where the key would go, even if we had one!" Peter replies, getting a bit panicked.
Then he realizes it's a push-button ignition. Pressing it, the hovercar hums to life, and he says, "Ah, uh, there we are," in a timid, embarrassed voice.
Putting his foot to the accelerator, he exclaims, "Alright, hold on because I'm going to have to wing this!" before taking off at a pretty high speed right out of the parking lot, nearly hitting half a dozen cars in the process, and literally flies out into the street.

"At least a wing can fly," L01th retorted, as they bumped into what felt like every car in the lot. "And I hope you can figure out a way to ditch these things, because I think they'll be better equipped than us."
Indeed, the pursuers were already closing in, despite the surprise takeoff.

"Yeah, that might prove problematic," Peter admits as he swerves around a corner and nearly misses a pedestrian.
"Ack, that was close! We've gotta find the highway or something before we kill someone!" he says. "Does the car's navigator have any road maps on it?"

(This is why I hate dialogue action scenes)
Scanning the dash, all she saw was a bunch of buttons, knobs, and doohickies.
"What's a navigator? Is it this?" she said, turning on the radio to a quiet classical station.

"...Ah, nevermind. It's just something my parents had in their car, if I remember right. They used it whenever dad got lost!" Peter says, flying down the street, the authorities still gaining on them. "I think I see the highway anyway!"
He makes a break for the onramp, but some police vehicles cut him off and he swerves, making the car spin around before stopping.

"Any more brilliant devices your parents used?" L01th stated somewhat flatly, a cocktail of fear and resignation simply dousing the courage and hate towards their luck. "Like a giant device that makes us go through the blockade?"
Giving a sigh, she rested her arm on the sill. "Good knowing you Peter."

"Dammit dammit dammit!" Peter shouts in his head repeatedly, unable to accept this being the end. Thinking back to what L01th had said earlier, about being three times taller, he starts to really wish that were the case. If she were really huge like that, then she really could protect the two of them, like she wanted... Like he wanted...
"If only she were huge--big enough to stomp them down! We could be free!"
((It's bust-out time now, so this time it's growth in feet! About time, right? razz ))
((...Well, not as much a bust-out as I'd hoped, but it'll work well enough I guess lol))

It wasn't slow. It wasn't painless. And it was terrifyingly horrible, yet intoxicating. Her body reacted instantly, taunting at first to kill her as she felt the seatbelt tear into her skin. Her black knees pressed harder and harder into the dash, until it cracked. The body was cramped into the cabin, threatening to snap, pushing against both him and the car. As if scared of the host of the dream, the skin only gently brushed peter's cheek, instead forcing the other areas to give way. L01th burst out of the car, rolling to the side.
Her clothing tore the instant her body sensed freedom, spraying cloth everywhere. Fifteen feet was huge, and barely halfway completed. When the nearly thirty foot woman finished her growth, it was colossal. However, preparing for this was something else. Even though she now dominated everyone, she was just as stunned as everyone else. Even when the first bullet hit, the stun was great enough to hold off the pain for a few seconds, before she cried out.

Peter stared, as stunned as everyone else. It wasn't until L01th reeled back from the impact of a bullet and screamed in pain that he was snapped back into reality. He had to help her, somehow!
Adrenaline pumping through him, time seemed like it had slowed to a crawl. Looking back, toward where the first shot was fired, he hears a second shot that pierces a back window of the hovercar and flies near his head. He's aware of it, and yet the sheer danger of the situation fails to dawn on him in his rush. Everything seemed unimportant in that moment, except helping the ebony woman.
Putting the hovercar into reverse, he slams on the gas and the vehicle somehow manages to function still, even despite the whole right side of the car being smashed open from the inside. He careens into the police vehicles behind him, distracting and even knocking over many of the officers caught unawares due to the distraction caused by L01th. Hopefully it would be enough to help.

Anyone in L01th's position would freak out right now. Most would, in fact, for quite a while. But her body had been programmed for this, programmed to move in spite of being out of her own mind. The shots hurt, as she winced, but reached forward and knocked a hole in the barricade. She felt unexplained desires to protect the tiny man she shared a link with.
When the car careened, she moved to pull him from the vehicle. Even though she was still getting attacked, her priority was to protect the man.
"Got you Peter..."

"Th-thanks," Peter replies weakly, all the impacts of from crashing and ramming the vehicle and the shock from everything going on having taken a bit of a toll on him. Whatever qualities allowed his ebony companion to act in such conditions was apparently not within him, even as he was instinctively protective of her in an inexplicable way.
Looking about, he saw that many of the authorities were taken out or at least distracted by other problems brought up in their chaos they'd created. It also seemed those who had kept their cool enough to actually fire were starting to reload their weapons. In one direction was the highway, and in the other was another part of the business district. Finally, the only other way they could go was blocked off by the authorities, but it lead to a forested area.
"Think you can get past them?" he asks, pointing over to the distant wooded area. "Our best shot of shaking them is that way, it seems..."
