Alaois ~Ichigo_Pie~ XxXTemporary_IllusionXxX Youre on somethign right neutral it does not work all it does is get more people mad at the church and you wonder why you have so many bashers and haters When all you guys do is condemn and preach, hell our pleadge even has "god" in it, i just changed the entire pledge to fit my perssonel views and beliefs Actually in all honesty, I believe "God" is rightly placed in the pledge of allegiance. This country was founded on the basis of Christianity. The people who founded the country intentionally wrote God in on all the documents they did. It rightly belongs there. I just don't say the pledge. I got yelled at back in high school for not standing and saying the pledge. Actually "In God We Trust" wasn't added until the 1950s because of the Red Scare, aka Communism. They associated being Atheist with being Communist. Before that, Bellamy's original Pledge read, "I Pledge Allegiance to my Flag and the Republic for which it stands, one nation indivisible with liberty and justice for all." And almost all of America's Founding Fathers were Deists, not Christian. That pledge doesn't roll off the tongue as easily DX but they used god in everything practically. always referring to their god and the importance of church. whether christian or not, they referred to God a lot and I still believe it's rightly there.

How about the Declaration of Independence? God, or, the creator, or some such is used there.

The Declaration of Independence refers to a creator, but not specifically the judeo-christian or any other god. Jefferson (it's author) was a huge critic of Christianity, and a deist. He most likely had a general creator in mind, and might have been trying to write the declaration in terms which the majority of people would agree with.
"We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. That to secure these rights, governments are instituted among men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, That whenever any form of government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the right of the people to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their safety and happiness."

Nah that wouldn't do anything.... In fact, that would probably make them all the more eager to convert you so that you raise your child with the "truth!"

I don't always agree with Christianity but I'm not going to be an a-hole. True but id rather not listen to there idiotic preachings (idiotic is not refering to the religion) and just politly say "Sorry but im not interested, have a nice day though and best of luck with your efforts" Now the last part would just be me trying to be nice, perossonaly id rather have it so that dying religions started to increase and larger religions began to decrease just enough so that we dont have to worry about entire cultural beliefs dying out and becoming things of text books

I don't always agree with Christianity but I'm not going to be an a-hole. Just because they love their religion doesn't give them a right to trespass onto private property to convert people. If the people wanted to be a member of their church, then they would have been a member without needing to be converted. We are where we wanted to be and if we want to affiliate we'll do so on our own. Just because you don't want to assert your opinions doesn't mean that everyone is being rude because we tell them to F off. they need to mind their own.

I have an interest in all religions. No matter how odd, or mainstream. I've been a devoted Wiccan since 4th grade...But I still love learning about other people. So Mormons came to my door, I let them in. (I wasn't raised christian at all, so Christianity is one of the religions i know the least about..) They came in and saw all my pagan stuff, my oil n***s, and my sword collection... started stammering and then handed me the pamphlets and ran out of my door. Twas fabulous...

I don't really have that problem with Jehova witnesses and junk. I just say, 'yup, I'm already a christian, pal,' and they smile, and I go back to what I'm doin. And all without being a total d**k.
