Faolan just nodded. "Aye. It's hard t' discipline her when she's done wrong if she's always thinkin' it's just me not likin' her 'cause she doesnae hae th' concept o' rules."

Ellandra tilted her head a little and sighed thoughtfully. Finally, she said softly, "I think she's beginning to understand emotions better and more clearly. . . I think at some point she might understand that it's not you being upset at her for being her, but for whatever she did wrong. . . . maybe if she breaks a rule in the future you could try explaining that to her more clearly? She's starting to realize that you care for her, at least."

"I donnae know, love. Zia's pretty mature an' adores all its younger siblings, especially Rhian," Faolan answered. "It might be helpful in explainin' rules an' such to her, but will she listen?"

"If we're careful in how we word what we say, I think so," Ellandra said, still thoughtful. "But it may take some time for her to fully understand and start to really follow the rules."

Faolan frowned. "I'm not gonna make exceptions fae her on th' rules. If she disobeys, she'll be punished. She better learn quick. I wonnae hae her bein' a danger t' people or a bad influence on others--such as th' twins--because she cannae listen or doesnae want t'."

"Yeah, I know. I worry about her, too. Like this whole thing she has wi' Lauss," Fao sighed. "I donnae think it's bad fae them t' hae a relationship an' all tha', but he's extremely naive an' she doesnae know when t' stop an', well, she can be a little manipulative wi' him. I ne'er worry about Zia and Crux because they're both rather mature an' both know when they're goin' too far, but Lauss and Rhian lack maturity in spades and I donnae really think either should be left unsupervised until they prove they aren't gonna take things too far everytime they're together. They think it's just a game an' innocent fun, but they donnae get tha' what they're doin' ain't always right. Also, I'm not sure Lauss is emotionally ready t' handle th' kinda relationship Rhian wants to have an' she donnae hae th' maturity t' deal wi' it, either."

Ellandra sighed. "Truthfully, I don't think she really understands what she's doing, either. . . she abosorbed a lot of information about the acts from us, but. . . I don't think she understands the meaning behind them. It's all some sort of game to her. The brunette adjusted the baby until the was just in one arm and then rested her forehead in her hand. "Her and Lauss remind me of toddlers wanting to play doctor. . . ."

"Exactly," Faolan agreed. "I donnae really know what punishment w' could give them on tha'. I mean, every time I try t' discipline her, she just thinks I hate her or donnae want her around an' gets all mopey. I cannae exactly parent a child like tha'."

Lauss learns so slowly about matters like these, and Rhian only knows the enjoyment she picked up from us, not the meaning of the acts. . ." The brunette sighed again. "I suppose I'm just. . . afraid something will happen, and they'll both be hurt because we can't trust them together. . ."
